KNOX — Nancy L. Gambill, 67, of Knox, died on Sunday, Jan. 28 at St. Anthony Hospital,
Michigan City.
She is survived by her husband, Charles Gambill of Knox; daughter, Gail Sample of Hamlet; one
grandchild; two great-grandchildren; brother, Dan Fields of Toledo, Ohio; sisters: Bobby Jean
Ryder of Knox, Lola Sussie of Michigan City and Bessie Fields of Tucson, Ariz.
Funeral services were Thursday, Feb. 1 at 5 p.m. at Braman & Son Memorial Chapel, Knox, with
visitation one hour before services.
Cremation has taken place.
Francis Lawrence Kanouse
ROCHESTER — Francis Lawrence “Larry” Kanouse, 73, of Rochester, died at 1:10 p.m. on
Sunday, Jan. 28 at Life Care Center of Rochester.
He is survived by his wife, Georgianna; a son, Rick (Brandy) Kanouse of Rochester; two
grandchildren; and a brother, David (Nancy) Kanouse of Kokomo.
Visitation is Wednesday, Jan. 31 from noon to 1 p.m. at the Good Family Funeral Home,
Rochester.
Funeral services are Wednesday, Jan. 31 at 1 p.m. at the funeral home.
Burial will be at the Richland Center IOOF cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Multiple Myeloma Foundation.
Robert S. Kinzie
NORTH MANCHESTER — Robert S. Kinzie, 78, of North Manchester, formerly of Plymouth, died
at 7:45 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 28 at Peabody Healthcare Center, North Manchester.
He is survived by his wife, Carole; sons: Paul (Nancy Baer) Kinzie of St. Joseph, Mich. and
Michael Kinzie of Plymouth; one granddaughter; and sisters: Maria Karelas of Sacramento, Calif.
and Ilena Kinzie of Gurney, Ill.
Memorial services will be held at a later date.

Sallie Mae Mayfield
INDIANAPOLIS — Sallie Mae Mayfield, 66, of Indianapolis, formerly of Monterey, died at 8:25
a.m. on Sunday, Jan. 28 at St. Vincent Medical Center, Indianapolis.
She is survived by son, Mark (Hazel) Mayfield of Culver; daughter, Vanessa McCain and Michael
Moss of Indianapolis; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild; brothers: George (Bertha) Salary
of Forrest Park, Ga. and Samuel (Mary) Salary of Culver; and sisters: Juanita (James) Spencer
of Orlando, Fla., Charlotte (James) Harvey of Youngstown, Ohio, Elizabeth (Otis) Dozier of
South Bend and Lillie (Moses) Richardson of Indianapolis.
Visitation is after 10 a.m. CST Saturday, Feb. 3 at Frain Mortuary, Winamac.
Funeral services are Saturday, Feb. 3 at noon CST at Frain Mortuary.
Sheryl L. Simons
ARGOS — Sheryl L. Simons, 57, Argos, died Sunday, Jan. 28 at 3:41 a.m. at St. Joseph
Regional Medical Center, Plymouth, following a three-year illness.
She was born Jan. 1, 1950 to Thomas G. and Roselyn (Hooker) Syler in Plymouth. She lived in
Fulton and Marshall counties all of her life.
In 1970, she married
Terry Simons. They later divorced.
Sheryl worked for Dr. Byron Holm’s office from 1970 until she became ill three years ago.
She was a graduate of Rochester High School with the class of 1968.
She is survived by her two sons: Matthew Scott Simons of Knox and Shane William Simons of
Plymouth; one daughter: Jami L. (David) Brewer of Rochester; four sisters: Judy Gonzalez of
Santa Fe, New Mexico, Robin L. (Pat) Burkett of Argos; Tracy S. (Chuck) Pocock of Rochester
and Tomi J. Syler of Plymouth; two step-sisters, Tammie Caywood of Rochester and Debbie
(Richie) Magan of Florida; and step-mother Pat Syler of Rochester, as well as many nieces and
nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Marge Thacker.
Visitation will be Tuesday, Jan. 30 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Earl-Grossman Funeral Home, 208 N.
Michigan St.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 31, with the Rev. John Branch officiating, at the
funeral home.
Burial will be at Maple Grove cemetery, Argos.
Memorials may be made to the Humane Society of the donor’s choice.
Arrangements have been entrusted with the Earl-Grossman Funeral Home, Argos.
Alesia G. Craft
NORTH JUDSON — Alesia G. Craft, 41, of North Judson, died on Monday, Jan. 29 at home.
She is survived by her fiance, David Risner of North Judson; daughters: Ashley Craft of
Lafayette and Alyssa Wireman of North Judson; mother, Jeanette Maahs of Kingsford Heights
and J.C. Craft of Salyersville, Ky.; sister, Melina Salle of Knox; and brother, Eric Wireman of
North Judson.
Visitation is Thursday, Feb. 1 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Rannells Funeral Home, Hamlet Chapel and
Friday at the church one hour prior to the service.
Funeral services are Friday, Feb. 2 at 11 a.m .CST at New Life Pentecostal Church of Hamlet.
Burial will be at Oak Park cemetery, Knox.

Merald E. Hall
HAMLET — Merald E. Hall, 83, of Hamlet, died on Monday, Jan. 29 at Starke Memorial Hospital.
He was born on Sept. 28, 1923 in Hamlet to Albert and Martha (Gretz) Hall. On Dec. 7, 1944, he
married
Ruth Christopher in South Carolina. She preceded him in death in 1996.
Merald was the former owner and operator of Hamlet Golf Course for 32 years. He served in the
U.S. Army Air Corps in WWII. He previously attended Hamlet United Methodist Church. He also
was a member of the Hamlet American Legion Post #356, serving as past commander. He was
a 1940 graduate of Hamlet High School.
He is survived by two daughters: Carol Hall of Miami, Fla. and Jayne Hall of Prescott, Ariz. He
was preceded in death by his parents and wife.
Visitation is Friday, Feb. 2 from 5 to 8 p.m. CST and Saturday after 10 a.m. until the time of
services at Rannells Funeral Home, Hamlet Chapel.
Funeral services will be Saturday, Feb. 3 at 11 a.m. CST at the funeral home with Rev. Rose
Woodke officiating.
Burial will be in Fletcher cemetery, Hamlet.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hamlet United Methodist Church or the Hamlet
Volunteer Fire Department.
Mahlon G. "Robbie" Robinson
TIPPECANOE — Mahlon G. “Robbie” Robinson, 78, of Tippecanoe, died at 2:50 p.m. on
Monday, Jan. 29 at Community Hospital of Bremen.
He is survived by his wife, Helen; daughter, Janet Longenecker of Bremen; sons: Stephen
(Cindy) Robinson of Goshen and Allen (Janet) Robinson of Chattanooga, Tenn.; seven
grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a sister, June DeMont of Argos and Apache
Junction, Ariz.
Visitation is Thursday, Feb. 1 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Deaton-Clemens Funeral Home, Bourbon.
Funeral services are Friday, Feb. 2 at 11 a.m. at the funeral home.
Burial will be at the Tippecanoe cemetery.

MISHAWAKA — Grayson Michael “Bud” Crotty, 83, of Mishawaka, formerly of South Bend and
Plymouth, died at 12:47 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 30 in Memorial Hospital, South Bend.
He is survived by his wife, Alice E. “Betty” Crotty; daughters: Jo Moore (Tim Flores) of Blanco,
Texas, Teri Crotty (Jann Gormley) of Woodbury, Minn., Connie (Richard) Dahlem of Northport,
N.Y. and Bonnie (James) Head of Fishers; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Visitation is Friday, Feb. 2 from 2 p.m. until the time of the service at Welsheimer Family Funeral
Home North, South Bend.
Funeral services are Friday, Feb. 2 at 4 p.m. at the funeral home.
Cremation will follow with burial in Mount Pleasant cemetery at a later date.

WAKARUSA — Frieda Mae Enders, 86, of Wakarusa, died at 10:20 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 30 at
Miller’s Merry Manor, Wakarusa.
She is survived by sons: David (Dena) Enders of Granger and Larry (Beth) Enders of Bremen;
daughter, Joyce (John) Hundt of Bremen; sisters: Dorothy Enders of Bourbon and Helen Hesch
of Mishawaka; 10 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren
with one on the way.
Visitation is Thursday, Feb. 1 from 4 to 8 p.m. and one hour prior to services Friday at the
Mishler Funeral Home, Bremen.
Funeral services are Friday, Feb. 2 at 11 a.m. at the funeral home.
Burial will be at Bremen cemetery Mausoleum Chapel.

ETNA GREEN — Laurence H. Ulmer, 86, of Etna Green, died at 9:10 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 30, 2007
at Mason Health Care of Warsaw.
He is survived by his daughter, Carol (Dave) Vampner of Etna Green.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy; children: John J. (Barb) Jenkins of Plymouth, Shelly A.
(Michael) Major of North Judson, Shawna M. (James) Shouse of Wheatfield, Patrick Ryan
Jenkins of Knox and Jessica (Jim) Jenkins of of Hebron; brother, William R. (Karen) Jenkins of
Demotte; and 11 grandchildren.
Funeral services are Friday, Feb. 9 at 11 a.m. CST at M.C. Smith Funeral, Knox, with visitation
one hour prior to services.
Burial will take place at Crown Hill cemetery, Knox.
