MACY — Leionell Daniel McConnell, 101, of Macy, died at 6:15 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 15 at Life
Care Center of Rochester.

He is survived by daughters: Gale (Jim) Harper of Nyona Lake and Ann Punak of Gary; son,
Allen (Karen) Riddley of Boston, Mass.; nine grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

There will be no visitation. Funeral services are Wednesday, Dec. 19 at 2 p.m. CST in the
chapel at Calumet Park cemetery, Merrillville.

Burial will be at Calumet Park cemetery.

The Good Family Funeral Home, Rochester, is in charge of the arrangements.

Herman V. Doyle
SOUTH BEND – Herman V. Doyle, 82, of South Bend, died at his home Sunday, Dec. 16, 2007.

He is survived by sons: Vernon Wayne (Marion) Doyle of LaPaz and Michael Neil (Kathleen)
Doyle of Cassopolis, Mich.; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; brothers: Foster
(Violet) Doyle of Kentucky and Irvin (Becky) Doyle of Seymour; and sisters: Clara Nolan formerly
of Seymour and Jeanette Barkman of Texas.

Visitation is from 11 a.m. until noon Wednesday, Dec. 19 in the Johnson-Danielson Funeral
Home, 1100 N. Michigan St. Plymouth where services will follow at noon. Burial will be in the St.
Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger, where military honors will be accorded to him.

Memorial gifts in his memory may be made to any Cancer Research Foundation.

Retha S. (Kaser) Nixon
NORTH LIBERTY — Reatha S. (Kaser) Nixon, 87, of North Liberty, died Sunday, Dec. 16, 2007
in her granddaughter’s home in Plymouth.

She is survived by daughters: Juanita Fisher of North Liberty and Theda Nixon of South Bend;
sons: Carl Kaser of North Liberty and Dean Kaser of Greenville, SC; 24 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren;
seven great-great-grandchildren; sisters: June Buss of Mishawaka, Alma Murley
of Henderson, Tenn., Mary Ruth Wileman of Grapevine, Texas and Brenda Dancey of
Millington, Tenn.; and a brother, Homer Hazelip of Olive Branch, Miss.

Private funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 20. Visitation is from 3 to 7 p.m.
Wednesday, Dec. 19 in the Palmer Funeral Home, 314 S. Michigan St., Lakeville.

Memorials may be made to The Center for Hospice & Palliative Care or to the Northern Indiana
Food Bank.

Edward Wilbur Polson
BREMEN — Edward Wilbur Polson, 54, of Bremen, died Dec. 16, 2007 at 6 a.m. at his home.

He is survived by two sons: Edward Charles Polson of Monterey and Gary Lee Polson of
Laporte; two grandchildren; mother: Lulu Polson of Bremen; a sister: Shirley Wilson of Bremen;
a brother: John (Barb) Polson of Bremen; and former wife: Beverly Diane Richardson of
Plainfield.

He was preceded in death by his father, James Polson.

Visitation will take place on Tuesday, Dec. 18 from 3 to 8 p.m. and one hour prior to services
Wednesday at Thompson-Lengacher & Yoder Funeral Homes.

Funeral services will take place on Wednesday, Dec. 19 at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at Bremen
cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Victory Junction Gang Camp (see victoryjunction.org for more
information).

Steven R. Richmond
NILES, Mich. — Steven R. Richmond, 60, of Niles, Mich., formerly of Nappanee, died Monday,
Dec. 17 at home.

He is survived by daughters: Robin Richmond of South Bend and Melissa Bassett of Fort
Wayne; one grandson; companion, Marlinda Phiscator of Niles, Mich.; mother, Betty (Robert)
Firestone of Goshen; brothers: Roger Richmond of Nappanee, Jim (Pat) Wilson of Wakarusa,
Bill Wilson of Elkhart and Tom (Erin) Wilson of Goshen; and sister, Linda (Mike) Carter of Beech
Grove.

Visitation is Wednesday, Dec. 19 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Thompson-Lengacher & Yoder Funeral
Home, Nappanee. Funeral services are Thursday, Dec. 20 at 2 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial
will be at South Union cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Steven Richmond Memorial Fund.

Richard Arlen Belt
PENSACOLA, Fla. - Richard Arlen Belt, 76, of Pensacola, Fla. passed away on Dec. 18, 2007.
Richard was born and raised in Inwood by his loving grandparents, Edward and Jennie
Cannan. Richard was retired from the United States Navy in which he served for 20 years with
great pride. He was twice decorated, once for single-handedly saving the ship and many of his
shipmates lives.
He was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents; his sister, Kate; his grandson, David
Workman and his loving wife of 42 years, Eleanor Lunsford Belt.Survivors include: his son, Rick
(Patsy) Belt Jr.; daughters: Linda (Darwin)
Sanders, Debra (Grits) Skilbeck and Kathy (David) Churchill; sisters, Jean Gilbert, Judy (Dale)
McCollough; and Danice (Dave) Harding, all of Indiana; grandchildren, Vickie, Jennifer, Ellen,
Stacey, Joe, Jeremy, and Michelle; Eight
great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; many nieces, nephews, and loving friends.
Our father was a honest, hardworking, proud man. He cared and provided for his family. He
cared for his wife, Eleanor for 42 years, but especially during the last five years of her life when
she was so ill. Most importantly; he is a
Christian and now is at Home with Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and we are certain he is still
looking after all of us from his new Home. He was a member of Crossroads Baptist Church.
Visitation was held Saturday, December 22, 2007 from 10 a.m. until funeral service at 11 a.m. at
Central Chapel Church, 405 Beverly Parkway, Pensacola.Burial followed at Eastern Gate
Memorial Gardens and then the family held a
reception immediately following at Crossroads Baptist Church.
Trahan Family Funeral Home, 430 Beverly Parkway, is in charge of arrangements.We would like
to offer special thanks to Dr. F. Canana, Dr. Sunnenberg and their staffs and Covenant Hospice
for their excellent care and loving compassion.

Gordon L. Yeager
TOPEKA — Gordon L. “Gordy” Yeager, 56, of Topeka died Tuesday, Dec. 18, 2007, at Parkview
Noble Hospital in Kendallville.

Survivors include son, Christopher L. Yeager of Sturgis, Mich., his life partner, Ruthann Richards
of Topeka; sister, Eileen (James) Gingerich of Syracuse; brother, Roger (Judy) Yeager of
Baltimore, Md.; and two grandchildren.

Services will be held Sunday, Dec. 23, 2007, at 2 p.m. at Stones Hill Community Church,
Ligonier. Burial will be at Maple Grove cemetery in Topeka. Visitation is Friday, Dec. 21, from 5
to 8 p.m., and Saturday, Dec. 22, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at West Noble Middle School,
south of Ligonier.

Memorial contributions may be made to Wawaka Alumni Foundation or Perry & Elkhart
Township 4-H Club.

Robert Fowler
BREMEN — Robert Fowler, 55, of Bremen, died Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2007 at 12:33 p.m. at
Bremen Health Care Center.

Survivors include his mother, Ruth Fowler of Bremen; daughters: Stephanie (Napoleon)
Shepherd of Ft. Wayne, Michelle (Johnny) Smith of Marcellus, Mich., Laurie Maust, Barbara
Fowler of Three Rivers, Mich. And Charlene Fowler of Nottawa, Mich.; sisters: Janice (Frank)
Winberly of North Carolina and Phyllis Bates of Jimtown; and eight grandchildren.

Services will be held Friday, Dec. 21 at 2 p.m. at Mishler Funeral Home in Bremen. Burial will
follow at a later date at Bremen cemetery. Visitation is from 1 p.m. until time of services at the
funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Mishler Funeral Home toward the cost of funeral
services.

Charlotte R. May
BURR OAK, Mich. — Charlotte R. May, 76, of Burr Oak, Mich. died Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2007
at the home of her daughter Rosann in Poland, Ohio.

Char was born July 29, 1931 in Tulsa, Okla. A daughter to Houston and Josephine (Hauser)
Palk.

On Feb. 3, 1951 she married Edward May in Gary, and he preceded her in death on June 3, l984

Early in life Char had lived in Gary and Plymouth, where she had graduated from LaVille High
School in Plymouth. She had made her home on Long Lake in rural Burr Oak since 1983.

Char was a homemaker and also had worked several years for the Colon Elementary School in
the food service department.

She was a member of the Colon American Legion Auxiliary where she had held many offices,
she had also been president of the 4th district Auxiliary and a Charter member of the Colon
Lioness Club.

She is survived by one daughter, Rosann (Mark) Bezilla of Poland, Ohio; one son, James
Edward (Terri) May of Mount Joy, Pa.; one son-in-law, William Ream of Elizabethtown, Pa.; four
grandchildren: Austin and Kevin Ream and Jonathon and Benjamin Bezilla; and step-grandson,
Josh Ward and mother, Josephine Shaffer of Burr Oak; one brother, Houston (Mariann) Palk of
Gary; half sister: Joan Powell of Grand Junction, Colo.; and three nieces.

She was preceded in death by her father, Houston Palk; husband, Edward May; and daughter,
Nancy Ream.

The family will receive relatives and friends on Saturday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the
Schipper Funeral Home LTD in Colon. Funeral services celebrating the life of Charlotte R. May
will be Sunday, Dec. 23 at 1 p.m. from the funeral home with Mr. David J. Farrell officiating. A
committal service and burial will follow at the Burr Oak cemetery in Burr Oak, Mich.
If desired, the family suggest memorials be made in memory of Char to the Colon Rescue
Squad. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.

Michael P. Trieschman
NEW CASTLE — Michael P. Trieschman, 53, of New Castle, died Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2007 in
Muncie.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Latham Trieschman; sons: Ryan S. (Rebecca) Trieschman of
Columbia City and PFC Aaron Wayne Trieschman, stationed in Afghanistan; father, Frederick
Trieschman of New Castle; sister, Rebekah Trieschman of Florence, Mass.; brother, Steven
(Phyllis) Trieschman of Connersville; and mother-in-law, Rosemary Latham of New Castle.

Funeral services are Thursday, Dec. 27 at 10:30 a.m. at Macer-Hall Funeral Home, New Castle.
Burial will follow at South Mound cemetery, West Lawn Addition. Visitation is Wednesday, Dec.
26 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Military services will be conducted by the U.S. Army, the
American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Thomas E. Webb
GROVERTOWN — Thomas E. Webb, 53, of Grovertown, died Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2007 at Saint
Joseph Regional Medical Center, Plymouth.

He is survived by his wife, Roberta; daughter, Amanda (H.C.) Williams of Ober; sons: Daniel of
Hamlet and Michael of Madrid, Iowa; parents, Lowell and Joan Webb of Hamlet; three
grandchildren; and sister, Debbie Miller of New Carlisle.

Visitation is Friday, Dec. 21 from 4 to 8 p.m. CST and Saturday, Dec. 22 after 12 p.m. until the
time of services at Rannells Funeral Home, Hamlet Chapel.

Funeral services are Saturday, Dec. 22 at 1 p.m. CST at the funeral home.

Burial will be at Fletcher cemetery, Hamlet.
