William Ernest Conder
CICERO – William Ernest Conder, 82, Cicero, died at Thursday, June 15, 2006 at Riverview Hospital in Noblesville.
Born Aug. 3, 1923 in Lafayette, he was the son of Charles Ernest and Blanche (Murphy) Conder.
On April 7, 1946, he married Dorothy Jean Galloway. She survives.
He graduated in 1941 from Wolcott High School and then received his bachelor’s degree from General Motors Institute.
He served in the Army Air Corps during WWII.
He was an industrial engineer at Delco Remy and had also owned and operated a saw mill and was a carpenter and wood worker
He was a member of the Indy 500 Chapter of Model T Clubs of America, Cicero Kiwanis and Cicero Christian Church.
He was a former member of Meadowbrook Baptist Church at Anderson and had served on the Jackson Township Advisory Board.
Along with his wife, he is survived by two sons, D. Patrick Conder of Covington and Daniel William Conder of Cicero; a daughter, Mary Lee Conder of West Trenton, N.J.; a sister, Wilma Clauss of Wolcott; and four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Helen Cooper.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Cicero Christian Church. Pastor Timothy Lucking will officiate. Burial will follow at Cicero Cemetery.
Visitation will take place from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday also at the church.
Arrangements are being handled by Hartley Funeral Homes Cicero Chapel.

Stella M. Atchley
Stella M. Atchley, 93, Tipton, died at 4:10 a.m. Wednesday at Tipton Hospital.
Born Jan. 24, 1913 in Clay County, Tenn., she was the daughter of John Rich and Rhoda Kellow.
She married Hubert Atchley. He preceded her in death in 1983.
She was a housewife and homemaker and a member of Church of Christ.
She is survived by her children, Betty and husband, Bill Snyder of Arcadia, Hubert and wife, Myrna Atchley Jr. of Tipton and Barbara and the late, Ralph Boll of New Baden, Texas; grandchildren, Shelly Napier, Julie Bristol, Pam Coursey, Shari Smith, Jennifer Meredith, Doug Atchley and Casey Snyder; great-grandchildren, Abbie Smith, Megan Mullins, Brian Meredith, Madison Netherton, Walker Mehl, Kayleigh Atchley and Gunner Napier; and a great-great-grandson, Colby Mullins.
Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by 21 brothers and sisters.
Private services are planned. The Rev. Ed Fisher will officiate. Burial will be at Tipton’s Fairview Cemetery.
Marie Ann Cole
Marie Ann Cole, 65, of Marion, and formerly of Elwood, died Nov. 12, 2006, at Northgate Healthcare Center in Marion after an extended illness.
She was born Aug. 10, 1941, in Elwood.
She formerly worked as a nurses aid.
She was a member of the First Assembly of God Church and enjoyed traveling.
Survivors include three sisters, Florence Walden of Elwood, Joan McTaggart of Tipton and Elizabeth and husband, Raymond Mc-Phearson of Elwood; two brothers, C. Russell “Sonnie” and wife, Judy Cole of Frankton and Charles and wife, Martha Cole of Kokomo; stepsister, Loretta Allen of Indianapolis; two stepbrothers, Frank Wiggins of Lawrence and Jack Wiggins of California; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, C. Roy Cole and Mary A. (Wright) Brooks; siblings, Ralph Cole, LeRoy Cole, Genevie Cole, Phyllis Bush, C. Raymond “Butch” Cole and Beatrice Clements; stepbrother, Bob Wiggins and stepmother, Ruby Cole.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 15, 2006, at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home, with the Rev. Al Covell of the Frankton Christian Church officiating. Burial will be in Forrestville Cemetery
in Summitville.
Friends may call from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Mary Jayne Lewis
WESTFIELD – Mary Jayne Lewis, 84, formerly of Port Charlotte, Fla. and a former Tipton and Elwood resident, died at 8:05 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 12, 2006, at Maple Park Village in Westfield.
She was born Aug. 29, 1922, in Indianapolis to Walter H. and Orpha B. (McDaniel) Hook.
She married William J. Lewis in 1945. He died April 9, 1986.
She retired from Guide Lamp in Anderson and was a member of the Atlanta Christian Church and the Elwood Order of Eastern Star. Mary volunteered at the Charlotte County Library and Port Charlotte Culture Center. She was a member of the Port Charlotte Lady Elks.
Survivors include two daughters, Kristine J. Hughes and husband, Don of Noblesville and Kim A. Benny of Springhill, Fla.; five grandchildren, Ryan William Hughes, Kyle Edward Hughes, Mandi J. Garcia, Krista Broshears and Kendra Hoyt; eight great-grandchildren, Juliana, Isabella and Isaiah Garcia, Simon, Abby and Charlie Hoyt, and Kerry and Christian Broshears; and a special friend, Jerry Latham, of Port Charlotte.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 16, 2006, at Young-Nichols Funeral Home in Tipton, with the Rev. Tim Brock officiating. Burial will follow at the Elwood City Cemetery.
Friends may call from noon to 2 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Rhay E. Lee
YORKTOWN – Rhay E. Lee, 77, Yorktown, died Nov. 12, 2006, at her home.
Funeral arrangements are pending at Owens Funeral Home in Alexandria.
Rose Vanosdol
WINDFALL – Rose Vanosdol, 86, Windfall, died at 11:35 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 29, 2006 at Howard Regional Health System in Kokomo.
She was born Aug. 4, 1920, in Kokomo to Otis Jonathan and Jennie Mae (Bush) Oliver. She previously had lived in Morgantown and Greentown. On April 16, 1938, she married Orville Vanosdol. He preceded her in death on Oct. 8, 1993.
She was a homemaker and worked in the Tri-Central school cafeteria.
She was a member of First Salem Baptist Church, Windfall, and attended Windfall Church of the Brethren. Rose volunteered at Tipton County Shares and Miller's Merry Manor. She belonged to the Ladies Aid and the Homemaker Ec. Club.
Survivors include four sons and one daughter, Larry Vanosdol and wife Julia of Port Charlotte, Fla., Jennie Vanosdol Tolle and husband Michael of Windfall, Jerry Vanosdol and wife Doris of Windfall, Patrick Vanosdol of Windfall and Kenneth Vanosdol and wife Linda of Windfall; 15 grandchildren, Angela Mannon, Jeff Vanosdol, Eric Vanosdol, Adam Vanosdol, Roseann Lord, Marita Bower, Linda Tolle Carter, Lisa Beally, Lori Vanosdol, Kevin Vanosdol, Jason Vanosdol, Kelli Vanosdol, Brad Vanosdol, Andrew Vanosdol and Kristen Vanosdol; 22 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild and one sister, Pansy Shrader of Greentown.
She was preceded in death by four brothers, Murvin Oliver, Benjamin Oliver, Robert Oliver and Wilbur Oliver and two sisters, Daisy Stout and Irene Gilbert.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Young-Nichols Funeral Home. The Rev. Bill Salsbery will preside. Burial will follow in Sharpsville Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday.

Ernest L. Hoel
Ernest L. “Ernie” Hoel, 67, of Nashville, and formerly of Elwood, died Nov. 29, 2006, at Hospice of South Central Indiana in Columbus after a short illness.
He was born July 7, 1939, in New Castle.
He married Shirley Surber Nov. 26, 1960.
He moved to Elwood from New Castle with Marsh Corporation.
He worked for Jack Lee prior to working for Chrysler Corporation where he retired in May 1997.
He moved to Nashville in 1997.
He was a member of the Walker Chapel Wesleyan Church in Rosstown where he was a member of the choir. He was a former member of the Jaycees in Elwood where he worked in its drug program. He was a member of the Elwood Elks Lodge No. 368 and the Moose Lodge in New Castle.
He was formerly a coach in the Elwood Minor and Little League programs. He was manager of the Elks team. He was also manager for the Heiser Ford Chiefs youth football team in Elwood. He was a member of the Elwood Men’s Bowling league for many years and Cubmaster of Pack 385 Boy Scouts held at the East Main Street Christian Church in Elwood.
He was a former volunteer for the Pipe Creek Fire Department.
He was loved and adored by his nine grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley; three sons, Ernest Lee and wife, Cindy Hoel of Freeland, Md., Randy and wife, Rana Hoel of Elwood and Tim and wife, Stephanie Hoel of Elwood; grandchildren, Jeremy, Jared and Jordan Hoel of Freeland, Md., Christopher Hoel, stationed with the United States Navy, Chelsea Hoel of Elwood, Megan Hoel, of Elwood, and Brandon, Tiffanie and Tyler Hoel of Elwood; a sister, Wilma and husband, William Firth of Oxford, Ala.; two sisters, Donna Burris of New Castle and Edna Ballenger of New Castle; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd and Adona (Brown) Hoel and a sister, Velma Jean Davis.
A service is planned at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 2, 2006, at the Walker Chapel Wesleyan Church in Rosstown, with the Rev. Roy Hendershot officiating.
A funeral service is also planned at 1 p.m. Monday, Dec. 4, at Jackley-Landrum Funeral Home in Elwood.
Friends may call from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday at the Walker Chapel Wesleyan Church in Rosstown and from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Jackley-Landrum Funeral Home in Elwood.
Burial will be Monday at the Elwood City Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made in his memory through the funeral home to the Walker Chapel Wesleyan Church Building Fund.
Lewis H. Jones
Lewis H. Jones, 84, of Elwood, died Nov. 28, 2006, at his home in Elwood.
He was born Jan. 17, 1922, in Worland, Mo., to William and Persis (Jackson) Jones.
He was a veteran of World War II serving in the United States Army.
Lewis retired as a plumber after 45 years employment.
He was a missionary in Africa for four years and a minister for 55 years.
He was a member of the Wesleyan Church.
He was a foster parent for 40 years and a life member of the Elwood VFW and a life member of the NRA.
Lewis enjoyed being with all of his family, fishing, hunting and shopping.
Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Donna Jones; son, David and Sheri Jones of Elwood, daughter, Sally and James Beckley of Inverness, Fla., son, Jim and Hilda Jones of Alexandria, son, Tom and Cheryl Jones of Logansport, son, Bill and Tambi Jones of Middlebury, son, Terry and Shari Jones of Holiday, Fla., daughter, Rene Sexton of Elwood and daughter, Christy Pelech of Elwood; foster daughter, Jada Canell of Indianapolis; 26 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and sisters, Rennetta Price of Canton, Ill. and Willadean Harbison of Seattle, Wash.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Orie Jones; a sister, Irene Owens; daughters, Sandra Kay and Rebecca Ann Jones and foster son, Mike Jones.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 2, 2006, at Dunnichay Funeral Home, with the Rev. Ron Becker and the Rev. Matthew Miller officiating. Inter-ment will follow at Knox Chapel Cemetery, north of Elwood. military graveside rites will be conducted by the Elwood VFW Post 5782.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Community Hospice through the funeral home.
