Brent Ray McCloughan
ROCHESTER — Brent Ray McCloughan, 42, of Rochester, died Friday, Nov. 30, 2007 at 6:30 p.m. at
his residence.
He is survived by his parents, Ted and Lynda McCloughan of Cromwell and Bradenton, Fla.; two
sisters, Kim McCloughan of Sarasota, Fla.and Anita and Chris Shultz of Huntington; two
brothers, Rod and Dyan McCloughan of Sarasota, Fla. And Darren and Jenny McCloughan of
Warsaw; his maternal grandmother, Dixie hunter of Rochester; and to nieces and seven
nephews.
Visitation is from 5 o 8 p.m. Tuesday and one hour prior to services in the Good Family Funeral
Home Wednesday.
Services are at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, 1200 W. 18th St., Rochester, with
Pastor Mark Kline.
Military rites will be conducted by the LeRoy Shelton American Legion and the Veterans of
Foreign War, both of Rochester.
Lucille Parcell
SYRACUSE — Lucille Parcell, 86. of Syracuse died at 8 p.m. Nov. 30, 2007 at home.
She is survived by her daughters: Jane (Bill) Musser of Syracuse, Jan (Lee) Barnhart of South
Bend, Vicky Blosser of Syracuse; son Jim (Gena) Parcell of Columbus, Ind; eight grandchildren;
12 great-grandchildren; sisters: Marjorie Roeder of Bremen, Phyllis (Ken) Walters of Nappanee
and brothers: Robert (Brenda) Guard of Arcadia, Fla., and Dean (Sally) Guard of Nappanee.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Peggy Baumgartner; a son, Larry Lakins; a grandson,
Bunky Musser; sister, Dolly Corwin and brothers, Wayne and Paul Guard.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, Dec. 4 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Thompson-Lengacher & Yoder
Funeral Home, Nappanee.
Services will take place on Wednesday, Dec. 5 at 11 a.m. and burial will follow at the Bremen
cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Wawasee Lakeside Chapel.
Lillian H. Rinesmith
CULVER — Lillian H. Rinesmith, 87, of Culver, died Friday, Nov. 30, 2007 at 5:39 p.m. at Miller’s Merry
Manor, Culver.
She is survived by two nieces: Pam and Jeff Thornburgh of Leesburg and Patti Phillips of
Warsaw.
Visitation will be at the Bonine-Odom Funeral Home in Culver Tuesday, Dec. 4 from 1 to 2 p.m.
Services will be at the funeral home Tuesday at 2 p.m.
Burial will be at Culver Masonic cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Salvation Army.
George R., Sr. Holl
PLYMOUTH — George R. Holl Sr., 80, of Plymouth, died Dec. 1, 2007 at his residence.
He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Dr. George Robert H. “Rob” and Sally J. Holl, Jr of
Plymouth, and a daughter, Denise R. Holl, Danbury, Conn, as well as two grandsons, two
brothers and six nieces and nephews.
Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 5 at Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N.
Michigan St., Plymouth.
Services are at 10 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home with services conducted by Father John
Schramm, pastor of St. Thomas Episcopal Church and Tom Padberg, chaplain of the Marshall
County Hospice and Palliative Care.
Burial will be in Roseland Memorial Park, Terre Haute.
Memorials in George’s memory may be made to the Marshall County Humane Society or St.
Thomas’ Church.
Karen Marie Gross
AKRON – Karen Marie Gross, 41, a former resident of Akron, passed away at her Logansport
residence at 1 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 2, 2007.
Karen was born in Iowa on Oct. 22, 1966, the daughter of Janet DeWitt, who survives. As a
young girl she moved to Indiana.
Her spouse, Frank Gross preceded her in death.
Karen was employed as a manager with McDonald’s Restaurant, located in Rochester. She
enjoyed spending time with her family, collecting unicorns, listening to rock music and following
NASCAR races. Her favorite color was purple.
Surviving are six children along with five grandchildren. They are: a daughter, Tina Miller of
Plymouth and her children: Joe and Fabian Vasquez; daughter, Shannon (Chris) Miller of LaPaz
and children: Angela Miller and Christina Fleck; son, Albert Miller Jr. of Arizona; daughter, Angel
Weiss of Fulton, and her child Kiara Weiss; a son James Weiss, also of Fulton; and a son,
Dustin Sprague of Warsaw.
Karen’s brother, Tim Mefford of Iowa also survives.
Services will be held at noon on Saturday, Dec. 8, 2007 in the Johnson-Danielson Funeral
Home, 1100 N. Michigan St., Plymouth where family and friends may call after 10 a.m.
Memorial gifts may be made to the family or the donor’s choice.
Ellen Ash Mitchell Grossman
ETNA GREEN — Ellen Ash Mitchell Grossman, 43, of Etna Green, died Sunday, Dec. 2, 2007 at 10:12
a.m. at St. Vincent Carmel Hospital.
She is survived by a son, Seth Mitchell of Warsaw; daughter, Sierra Mitchell of Indianapolis; and
sister, June Moore of Atlanta, Ga.
Services will be held at Bourbon United Methodist Church on Friday, Dec. 7 at 6 p.m. Visitation
is two hours prior to the service Friday.
Burial will be at Gypsum, Kan.

Sister Julitta Knapke
DONALDSON — Sister Julitta “Julia” Knapke, PHJC, died in the Catherine Kasper Home,
Donaldson, at 12:02 a.m. on Sunday, Dec. 2, 2007.
She is survived by a brother, Bill Knapke and his wife, Esther, St. Henry, Ohio, and by three
sister-in-laws: Lucille Hess, Kettering, Ohio: Norma Knapke and Eileen Knapke, St. Henry, Ohio.
Several nieces and nephews survive as well.
Visitation for Sister Julia will be at Catherine Kasper Home, Donaldson, on Tuesday, Dec. 4,
from 4:30 to 9 p.m.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at the Catherine Kasper Home, Donaldson, Dec. 5, at 11
a.m. the Rev. Father Edward Konerman, S.J. will officiate.
Service arrangements are by Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan St.,
Plymouth, Ind.
Edna "Eddie" Snyder
PLYMOUTH — Edna “Eddie” Snyder, 75, died at 4:30 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 2, 2007, at Miller’s Merry
Manor.
Surviving are Eddie’s husband, James R. Snyder, a step-daughter, Rosilee (Tom) Heroy; a stepson,
Jay Snyder: two granddaughters: Brandy Bybee and Krishna Roler; three grandsons: Adam
Bybee, Jayson Synder and Benjamin Snyder; three great-granddaughters: Rachel Pricipie,
Kelsey Bybee, Isabelle Marie Snyder and a brother: Roger Peters.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2007, and after 7 a.m. on Wednesday,
Dec. 5, at the Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan St., Plymouth.
Burial services will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, Dec. 5, at 10 a.m.
Memorial gifts to honor Eddie may be made to the Cancer Association, The Heart Association or
to Marshall County Hospice and Palliative Care.
Evelyn Mae Scarbrough
SOUTH BEND — Evelyn Mae Scarbrough, 84, of South Bend, formerly of Walkerton, died
Monday, Dec. 3, 2007 in Memorial Hospital, South Bend.
She is survived by her husband, Dale Scarbrough; daughters: Jackie (David) Frazier of Wabash
and Jeanne (Gail) Ross of South Bend; son, Dale W. (Phylliss) Scarbrough of Peoria, Ariz.; nine
grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; sister, Sara Hudson of Grovertown; and brother, James
(Deloris) Freet of Grovertown.
Visitation is Thursday, Dec. 6 from 4 to 8 p.m. EST and Friday after 11 a.m. until the time of
services at Rannells Funeral Home, Koontz Lake Chapel.
Funeral services are Friday, Dec. 7 at 1 p.m. EST at the funeral home.
Burial will be in the Woodlawn cemetery, Walkerton.

Dale I. Heiser
WINTER HAVEN, Fla. — Dale I. Heiser, 81, of Winter Haven, Fla., formerly of Culver, passed
away on Dec. 4, 2007 in Winter Haven.
Dale was born March 29, 1926 in South Bend, one of two children born to William G. And Laura
K. (Overmyer) Heiser. He was married
on June 6, 1948 to Helen L. Paswater in Culver. She
survives.
Dale attended the Culver schools, where he graduated in 1944. He played on the high school
basketball team that lost the last game of the semi-state tournament by 1 point in 1944. He
continued to play independent basketball in Indiana after graduation.
Dale served the U.S. Navy on the Destroyer U.S. Davidson from 1944 - 1946. After leaving the
military, he worked at the Studebaker plant in South Bend. He then went on to work as a
millwright/carpenter with Local #1029 of Warsaw. He enjoyed fishing, I.U. Basketball, Notre
Dame sports, Chicago Bears football, western movies, and playing cards — Euchre being his
favorite.
Dale was a member of Finney-Shilling VFW Post 6919 of Culver, Collins-Tasch American
Legion Post 399 on Monterey, and was a former Worthy Patron of Eastern Star 26, and a Master
Mason of the Henry H. Culver Masonic Lodge, now the Plymouth Kilwinning Masonic Lodge 149.
He was also a member of the Wesley United Methodist Church, Culver.
Dale is survived by his loving family: wife, Helen Heiser of Winter Haven, Fla; daughter, Nancy
(Dennis) Cohee of Culver; son, Jeffrey Heiser of Culver; brother, Carl (Hazel) Heiser of Haines
City, Fla; grandchildren, Dalelynn and Cathy Heiser; two step-grandchildren, Sarah Foreman and
Chris Cohee; and five great- grandchildren, Chase, Abby, Hunter, McKenna, and Lucas.
Friends may gather with Dale’s family to share memories on Tuesday, Dec. 11 from 4 to 8 p.m.
EST, with a Masonic Service at 7:30 p.m. at the Bonine-Odom Funeral Home, Culver.
Rev. Bryan Siefert will officiate funeral services on Wednesday, Dec 12 at 1 p.m. EST at the
Wesley United Methodist Church in Culver, with visitation for one hour prior to service at the
church.
Burial will follow at Culver Masonic cemetery. Memorials may be given to the American Kidney
Fund or to Wesley United Methodist Church.
