He enjoyed car races and worked on several race cars during his life. He thought Bloomington
Speedway was one of the best tracks to watch a race; he enjoyed watching Jeff Gordon in his
early years and was a fan of Kinser racing.
He and his sons watched many NASCAR races together.
Bordner’s 30 years as a volunteer fireman were years of dedicated service. He worked on fire
trucks and was given a 1931 American LaFrance fire ruck for his work repairing fire trucks at no
charge.
He was also given a key to the city of Bloomington when he retired from the fire department.
His wife remembers and thanks him for his hard work, for putting her through college, for 67
