Marvin P. Gagnon
AKRON — Marvin P. Gagnon, 74, of Akron, died at 3:25 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 27, 2007 at Parkview
Hospital in Fort Wayne, following a short illness. He was born Aug. 2, 1933 in Wabash County to
Floyd and Faye (Crist) Gagnon. On June 26, 1954 in Akron, he married
Violet M. Sitts, who
survives.
He started working at Bahney Chevrolet in Akron at age 16 and in 1974 he became co-owner
and in 1979 in became Gagnon Chevrolet. His family also joined the business, which still
continues today.
He was a 1951 graduate of Akron High School. He attended the Akron Church of God where he
had served on the board. He was a member of the Akron Lions Club, where he was current
secretary and he had also been the past president. He was a member of the Akron Chamber of
Commerce where he had been past president. He served on the Akron Fourth of July committee
and was a past Four th of July parade marshal. He had received several recognition awards
from Chevrolet over the years. He was a member of the Toastmasters Club in Rochester. He
was involved in the Akron EMS for 12 years. He enjoyed stock car racing and NASCAR. His
favorite driver was Dale Earnhardt. He was a very active community leader who loved Akron.
He is survived by his wife, Violet Gagnon of Akron; daughter, Kathy (Craig) Ammerman of
Akron; sons: John (Lesa) Gagnon of Akron, Robert (Pamela) Gagnon of Rochester and Terry
(Sandy) Gagnon of Akron; 16 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one granddaughter and one brother, Marion Gagnon.
Visitation is Tuesday, Oct. 30 from 2 to 8 p.m. at Hartzler Funeral Home, 305 W. Rochester St.,
Akron.
Funeral services are Wednesday, Oct. 31 at 10:30 a.m. at the Akron Church of God, 301 S.
West St., Akron, with Pastors Terry Canfield and Steve Fleck officiating.
Burial will be at the Roann Community cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Akron Lions Club or the Akron Church of God.
Esther Lois (Bolinger) Reed
PLYMOUTH — Esther Lois (Bolinger) Reed passed away in her home, 305 Marigold Court,
Plymouth, at 11:20 a.m. on Oct. 17, 2007, 16 months after her diagnosis of pancreatic cancer.
She fought courageously and without complaint, ending her battle while in the loving care of her
family.
Born Nov. 23, 1927, in Blue Island, Ill., Esther moved with her family to Argos in 1936, graduated
from Argos High School in 1945, and lived in Marshall County thereafter. She was preceded in
death by her parents, O. Earl and Lois E. (Oyler) Bolinger, brother Ora R. Bolinger (World War
II) and oldest son, Phil Earl Reed on March 20, 1990.
Esther was married
to James Roy Reed on June 5, 1949, in the Walnut Church of the Brethren.
She is survived by her husband Roy of 58 years. Six children also survive. They are: Gloria F.
(Kevin) Nelson, Indianapolis: Michael L. (Stacie) Reed, Plymouth: Donald R. (Vickie) Reed,
Argos: Marlin K. (Tari) Reed, Plymouth: Mark A. Reed, South Bend: Robert E. (Cindy) Reed,
Indianapolis: sister Doris (Robert) Kingsafer at South Bend: and brother Edward H. (Peg)
Bolinger at Wheaton, Ill.
Also surviving are eight grandchildren: Stephen Nelson, John (Adrian) Reed, Gina (Robert)
McMillen, Andrew Nelson, Ryan Reed, Jennifer (Frank) Wills, Clint (Leslie) Reed and Matthew
Reed.
She was also great-grandmother to Lilianna and Dayton, step-grandmother to Kyle, Ryan and
Maicee and three step-great-grandchildren and Aunt Esther to many nieces and nephews.
After obtaining an associate degree in business from Manchester College, Esther worked as a
legal secretary for the State Exchange Bank. She retired in 1986, as secretary to the president of
the Culver State Exchange Bank. Esther then worked in the office for A Homestead Shoppe in
LaPaz for 18 years, retiring in October, 2006 when her illness made it difficult to continue. Esther
served on the Union-North United School Board for eight years.
Roy and Esther enjoyed many years together traveling, driving through the country and dining
out. Esther was an avid reader, always willing to share her many books. She enjoyed the many
flowers and birds in their yard. She was an excellent cook, known by many for her chocolate chip
cookies.
She will be remembered as a devoted wife, loving mother, sister and aunt, a special friend,
mentor and example of faith, courage and quiet strength to many.
Friends may visit with the family on Saturday, Oct. 20 from 2 to 8 p.m. in the Johnson-Danielson
Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan St., Plymouth, and for one hour prior to the 2 p.m. services at
the Walnut Creek Church of the Brethren in Argos, on Sunday, Oct. 21. Pastor Robert “Bob”
Rice will preside. Burial will follow at the Walnut Church of the Brethren in Argos.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Philip E. Reed Scholarship Fund c/o the LaPaz
Lions Club, the Marshall County Center for Hospice and Palliative Care or the Juvenile Diabetes
Research Fund.
Donna E. Beaver
PLYMOUTH – Donna E. Beaver, after a three and a half-year courageous fight against the
ravages of colorectal cancer, died, surrounded by her loving family, at 4:35 a.m. on Sunday, Oct.
28, 2007, in Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center, Plymouth.
A lifetime Plymouth resident, Donna was 51-years old.
Born in Plymouth on May 18, 1956, Donna was the daughter of Donald and Mildred “Mick”
Fisher Daugherty.
A 1975 Plymouth High School graduate, she graduated from the Vogue Beauty School in
Mishawaka in 1986.On July 12, 1975, at the Sunrise Chapel in Plymouth, Donna and P aul J.
Beaver, Jr. were married
.
A cosmetologist for more than 20 years, Donna spent the last several years at Sunsation Beauty
Salon as well as helping to clerk at the family auction business, Beaver Auction Services.
A beautiful, active woman, Donna liked to bowl, read and was a NASCAR racing fan. She
especially enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and particularly with her 3-year-old
granddaughter.
She was looking forward to the birth of her first grandson, due Dec. 13.
She was a member of the Women of the Moose and was recently honored with a benefit party
held by Moose Lodge # 741. It was a happy evening and she said that it made her “feel good to
know that people cared about me and my family.”
Donna is survived by Paul Jr., her husband of 32 years and by their two children: daughter,
Shannon (Justin) Lancaster, granddaughter, Paige L. La ncaster, Leiters Ford, and their son,
Shay (Stephanie) Beaver, Decatur.
Her father and step-mother, Donald and Darlene Daugherty, Plymouth, and a sister, Nancy
(Rex) Edel, Apache Junction, Ariz., also survive.
Paul J. (Lana) Beaver, Sr., Donna’s father-in-law and step-mother-in-law, Culver, also survive
her death.
Two stepsisters, Nila (Randy) Reimer, Columbia City and Carol (Jerry) Everly, Stem, N.C., and a
step-brother, Allen Wolfe, Suffolk, Va., survive as well, together with several aunts, uncles,
nieces, nephews and cousins.
Donna was preceded in death by her mother “Mick” on May 18, 1979, and by her mother-in-law,
Jeannette Beaver in 1994.
Friends will be welcomed by her family to share memories of Donna from 4 to 8 p.m. on
Tuesday, Oct. 30, 2007, and after 7 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2007, in the Johnson-Danielson
Funeral Home, 1100 N. Mic higan St., Plymouth.
The Moose Lodge will have a special service for Donna following visitation at 8 p.m. in the
funeral home.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2007, in the funeral home. Rev.
Stephen Cox, pastor of Cornerstone Community Fellowship, LaPaz, will officiate.
Burial will be in New Oakhill cemetery.
Memorial gifts may be given to a charity of the donor’s choice.
Sally A. Leininger
ROCHESTER — Sally A. Leininger, 69, of Rochester, died at 2:20 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 28, 2007 at
Parkview Hospital, Ft. Wayne.
She is survived by daughters: Mary (Sam) Williams, Judi (Richard) Alderfer and Penny (Doug)
Simpson, all of Rochester; sons: Mike Leininger of Paducah, Ky. and Bill (“Tish”) Leininger of
Akron; 11 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
Funeral services are Thursday, Nov. 1 at 3 p.m. in the Good Family Funeral Home, Rochester.
Visitation is one hour prior to the service Thursday in the funeral home. Burial will be at the
Rochester IOOF cemetery.
Anna Mae Rash
PLYMOUTH — Anna Mae Rash, 87, of 222 Parkview St., Plymouth, died Sunday, Oct. 28, 2007
at 8:30 a.m., at Pilgrim Manor Nursing Home, in Plymouth.
She is survived by her friends, Rita and Don Beck of Fort Wayne, and her many friends at
Pilgrim Manor Nursing Home.
Van Gilder Funeral Home, Plymouth, is in charge of the arrangements. A memorial service will
be held at a later date. Burial will be in New Oak Hill cemetery, Plymouth.
Memorial contributions may be given to the donor’s choice.
Jacqueline Jefferies
TIPPECANOE — Jacqueline Jefferies, 76, of Tippecanoe, died at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 29, 2007 at
home.
She is survived by her husband, Harold Jefferies; daughter, Jody (Michael) Luke of Goshen; two
grandchildren; sister, Janith Kay Williams of Nacogdoches, Texas; and mother-in-law, Arlene
Jefferies of South Bend.
Visitation is Thursday, Nov. 1 from 5 to 8 p.m. and one hour prior to the service Friday in the
Good Family Funeral Home, Rochester. Funeral services are Friday, Nov. 2 at 10 a.m. at the
funeral home.
Burial will be at the Rochester IOOF cemetery.

Mary E. (Singrey) Youngman
WAUKESHA, Wis. — Mary E. (Singrey) Youngman of Waukesha, Wis. passed away on
Monday, Oct. 29, 2007 at her home. Mary was born on April 6, 1917 in Argos, the daughter of O.
Earl and Zora (Haines) Singrey. She is the beloved wife for 71 years of Lewis “Short” Youngman.
Loving mother of Michael (JoAnn) and Charles (Lori) Youngman. She is also survived by her
brother Mark Singrey, sisters, Carol (Glen) Anglemyer, Betty (Norman) Nifong and Jane (Roger)
Layne, sister-in-law, Velma Singrey and relatives and friends in both Indiana and Wisconsin.
Mary was preceded in death by her brothers Arnold, Russell, Carl and Cleo, a sister, Helen
Steinbicer and sisters-in-law, Mary (Mosca) Singrey, Evelyn (Faulkner) Singrey and Geraldine
“Jerry” Singrey.
The visitation for Mary will be held Thursday, Nov. 1, 2007 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Cesarz,
Charapata & Zinnecker Funeral Home, 237 N. Moreland Blvd., Waukesha. The funeral service
at the funeral home and burial at Prairie Home cemetery, Waukesha, will be private. In lieu of
flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
The family of Mary wishes to extend a very special thank you to VITAS Innovative Hospice Care,
Caring Angels and the Lutheran Home for the care and compassion given to Mary. Mary
touched the lives of everyone she met with her kindness, generosity and great sense of humor.
She will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
Dona M. Fetherolf
PLYMOUTH - Dona M. Fetherolf, 90, died of natural causes in the Catherine Kasper Life Center,
Donaldson, at 5:07 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 30, 2007.
Dona was born the daughter of Loren “Charles” and Effa M. (Foust) Clouse in Burnettsville on
March 6, 1917.
She was a former resident of Valparaiso, and a 1935 graduate of Plymouth High School.
After high school she married
James D. Fetherolf on May 11, 1940 in Richmond. He preceded
her in death in 1952. After his passing she married
David T. Fetherolf Sr. on June 11, 1954 in
Walkerton, he then preceded her in death in 1974.
In 1935, Dona began working at the law offices of McKesson & Kizer and then Kizer & Neu,
from which she retired in 1979 after 44 dedicated years.
Dona was a member of the 1st United Methodist Church for over 40 years. She was also a
Member at Large for the Delta Theta Tau. Dona enjoyed gardening, yard work, knitting, reading,
and doing cross word puzzles.
She is survived by a son Jay D. and his spouse Carolyn Fetherolf of Apopka, Fla., one grandson
James D. & Debra Fetherolf of Cartersville, Ga., three granddaughters: Erica & Daniel Vaughn
of Cartersville, Ga., Erika Wright of Albertville, Ala. And Amanda & Clarke Sturge of Miami, Fla.
Ten great-grandchildren and one sister; Virginia Minnes of Chilicothe, Ill., survives as well.
Dona was also preceded in death by a brother Wayne Clouse, and a sister Marga Fertig.
A special time of sharing will be held Friday Nov. 2, 2007, at the New Oakhill cemetery Chapel
from 1 to 2 p.m., with services held immediately following at 2 pm. The Rev. Dr. Dean Fager of
1st United Methodist Church, will officiate.
Internment will be in New Oakhill cemetery, Plymouth.
Memorial gifts in Dona’s memory may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
