Elizabeth M. Stull
COLDWATER, MICH. — Elizabeth M. Stull, 86, of Coldwater, Mich., died Friday, Sept. 14, 2007.
She is survived by two sons, Scott W. (Mary) Ries of Chandler, Ariz. And Fredrick W. Ries of
Phoenix, Ariz.; three daughters, Carol D. (David) Brown of Quincy, Mich., Suzanne E. (David)
Gregory of Scottsdale, Ariz., Patricia E. Ries of Angola; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren;
one step-son, Devon Stull of Plymouth; and one step-daughter, Dawn Stull of
Migura, Texas.
Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Weicht Funeral Home, Angola.
Services are Thursday at 11 a.m. with Donna Brown officiating.
Burial will be at Barber cemetery in Tyner.
Letty S. Masten
PLYMOUTH — Letty S. Masten, 82, of 5th Road, Plymouth, passed away Saturday, Sept. 15, 2007, at
2:05 p.m. in her home.
Letty was born Nov. 14, 1924, in Culver, to Guy and Trella (Thompson) Kepler. Both her parents
preceded her in death.
On Feb. 16, 1947, Ralph C. Masten and Letty Kepler were married
in Argos. Ralph preceded her
in death Jan. 9, 2004.
A son, John R. Masten, died in an auto accident Jan. 19, 2005.
Letty was a 1942 graduate of Culver High School. She retired in 1990 from the Marshall County
Extension Office, in Plymouth, where she was a secretary for 23 years. She was a member of
the First United Church of Christ, in Plymouth.
Letty is survived by her son, Dan (Gloria Jean) of Plymouth; her grandchildren, Trella (Bobby)
McGee, Fred (Melissa) Masten and Tammy (Dennis) Harrell; her great-grandchildren, Mike,
Michaela, Branden and Shawn Masten, and Cora Ann McGee; her brother, Robert (Doris)
Kepler of Culver; and her sisters, Jane (Cecil) Warner of Argos, and Helen Peer of Plymouth.
Another brother, John William Kepler preceded her in death.
Visitation will be at the Van Gilder Funeral Home, 300 W. Madison St., Plymouth, IN, 46563, on
Tuesday, Sept. 18, from 4 to 7 p.m.
Funeral services will be at the Van Gilder Funeral Home Wednesday, Sept. 19, at 10:30 a.m.
with the Rev. Steven Volker, pastor of the First United Church of Christ, officiating.
Burial will be in the Maxinkuckee I.O.O.F. cemetery, Culver.

Irene Pippenger
WAKARUSA — Irene Pippenger, 96, of Wakarusa, died at 4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 15, 2007 at Miller’s
Merry Manor, Wakarusa.
She is survived by a son, H. Lamar (Marvene) Pippenger of Nappanee; daughters: Mary
(James) Rhoade of Goshen and Margaret (David) Lawrence of Newburgh; eight grandchildren;
19 great-grandchildren and a brother, Franklin (Dorothy) Anglemyer of Wakarusa.
Visitation is Tuesday, Sept. 18 from 2 to 8 p.m. at the Thompson-Lengacher & Yoder Funeral
Home, Nappanee, and one hour prior to services Wednesday at the Union Center Church of the
Brethren.
Funeral services are Wednesday, Sept. 19 at 10:30 a.m. at the church.
Burial will be at Union Center cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Union Center Church of the Brethren or the Galilean Home.
Allen B., Sr. Chesser
CULVER — Allen B. Chesser Sr., 79, of Culver passed away at 1:25 p.m. on Sept 16, 2007 at
Miller's Merry Manor in Culver.
Allen was born on Oct 5, 1927 in Wheeling, W. Va., one of three children born to Arnold and
Laura (Winter) Chesser.
Allen joined the US Army at the age of 16, proudly serving his country during the Occupational
Forces and the Korean and Vietnam conflicts. He earned many awards and decorations for
meritorious service to his country. While serving overseas, Allen fell in love and married
Katharina Preywisch on Aug. 20, 1952 in Straubing, West Germany. They were blessed with two
children.
After 26 years of service as a Command Sergeant Major, Allen retired from the Army. He
worked for Young Door Co in Plymouth and later retired after many years as office manager.
Allen loved hunting and fishing and was a member of the Finney-Shilling VFW Post 6919 of
Culver and the Collins-Tasch American Legion Post 399 of Monterey.
Allen is survived by his daughter, Frances Bowers of Flatrock, N.C.; son, Allen (Mary) Chesser
Jr. of Culver; granddaughter, Emily (Andrew) Schouten of Rochester; and grandsons: Alex
(Janel) Chesser of Otterbein and Carl Chesser of Kansas City, Mo.
Friends may join the family in remembering and celebrating Allen's life on Friday, Sept. 21, 2007
from 4 to 8 p.m. EDT at the Bonine-Odom Funeral Home, Culver. Rev. Henry Sprunger will
officiate funeral services on Sat. Sept. 22, 2007 at 10 a.m. EDT at the funeral home. Interment
will follow at Culver Masonic cemetery.
The Bonine-Odom Funeral Home, Culver, is in charge of arrangements.
Russel D. Jones
NAPPANEE — Russell D. Jones, 96, of Nappanee, died at 9:46 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 16, 2007 in his
home.
Russell is survived by his wife, Mildred Walterhouse; two daughters, Joan Jones Cassell and
husband Robert of West Lafayette and Judy Miller and husband Lonnie of Lafayette; 13
grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, Sept. 20 at 11 a.m. In the Living Gospel Church in
Nappanee. There will also be one hour of visitation at the church before the funeral services.
There will be a time of visiting and sharing memories with the family on Wednesday, from 5 to 8
p.m. at Deaton-Clemens Funeral Home, 115 S. Main St., Bourbon.
Burial will follow in the Bremen cemetery at Bremen.
Deaton-Clemens Funeral Home is in charge of local arrangements.
LaMar C. Metzler
NAPPANEE — LaMar C. Metzler, 83, of Nappanee, died Sunday, Sept. 16, 2007 at 8 a.m. at his
residence.
He is survived by his wife, Wilma Metzler; one son, Steve Metzler of Tempe, Ariz., two
daughters, Val (Dennis) Yoder of Bremen and Teresa (Gary) Sather of Chandler, Ariz.;
granddaughters Sarah Turner of Houston, Texas and Elizabeth Hite of Bremen; two great-grandchildren
and a sister, Mary Alice (Donald) Plymale of Elkhart.
Visitation is Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. and one hour prior to services at Thompson-Lengacher &
Yoder Funeral Home, Nappanee.
Services are Tuesday at 10:30 a.m.
Burial will be at South Union cemetery.
Military graveside services will be performed by the Nappanee American Legion.
Memorials may be made to the Nappanee United Methodist Church HOME or Riley Children’s
Hospital.
David R. Day
ROCHESTER — David R. Day, 48, of Rochester, died at 4:22 p.m. Monday, Sept. 17, 2007 in a single
motor vehicle accident at 600 W. & Indiana 14.
He is survived by his fiance, Lori Fuentes; daughter, Tiphany N. Day; son, Aaron Day; mother,
Roseleen Day of Macy; sister, Sianna (Jerry) Deeds of Macy; and brothers: Myron “Bud”
(Barbara) Day of Chili, Rex Day of Dothan, Ala. And Robin (Pamela) Day of Rochester.
Visitation is Thursday, Sept. 20 from 5 to 9 p.m. and one hour prior to services in the Good
Family Funeral Home, Rochester.
Funeral services are Friday, Sept. 21 at 10 a.m. at the funeral home.
Burial will be at Plainview cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the David R .Day Children Trust Fund or the Fulton County Cancer
Society.
Duane E. Bion
BREMEN — Duane E. Bion, 68, of Bremen, formerly of Elkhart, died at 1:15 p.m. Tuesday,
Sept. 18, 2007 at home.
There will be no services.
Burial will be at Rice cemetery, Elkhart.
The Mishler Funeral Home, Bremen, is in charge of the arrangements.
Edna Mae Klingerman
PLYMOUTH – Edna Mae Klingerman, 86, died at 4:51 a.m. at her daughter and son-in-laws,
Pattie Jo and Donald DeMunck’s home in Edwardsburg, Mich., on Tuesday, Sept. 18, 2007.
Born in Plymouth, on Jan. 19, 1921, Edna was the daughter of Orval and Della Rush Harris.
On Dec. 31, 1955, in Warsaw, .Edna and Lewis Klingerman were married
. Lewis died on Nov. 9,
1999.
A resident of Plymouth for 79 years, Edna Mae worked at McCord’s as a core builder for 38
years. She retired in 1982.
Her one great love was selling at the Paw, Paw, Mich. Flea market with her daughter. She also
enjoyed going to retirees’ dinners every month at Ponderosa.
Edna Mae is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Pattie Jo and Donald R. DeMunck,
Edwardsburg, Mich., and by four granddaughters. They are: Cindy McKee, Elkhart: Debbie
Rivera, Plymouth: Marilyn Hunt, Lumberton, N.C. and Mallisa Clapza, Lumberton, N.C.
And two grandsons, Stonie Ray of Lumberton, N.C., Danny Graham, South Bend survive as
well, together with four great-granddaughters, 10 great-grandsons, eight great-great-granddaughters
and 18 great-great-grandsons.
Edna was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a daughter, Carol Sue Britt, a sister,
Helen Barkmeier and a brother, Harvey Harris.
Friends are invited to share memories and celebrate the life of Edna Mae Klingerman by her
family on Thursday, Sept. 20, 2007, from 4 to 8 p.m. and after 7 a.m. on Friday Sept. 21, 2007 in
the Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan St., Plymouth.
Funeral services for Edna will be held in the funeral home at 11 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 21, 2007.
The Rev. Charles Krieg, will officiate.
Burial will be in the Bremen cemetery, Bremen.
