Barbara Ann Springer Upp
ROCHESTER — Barbara Ann Springer Upp, 64, of 320 Madison St., Rochester, died Sunday,
Sept. 9, 2007, at Woodlawn Hospital, Rochester.
She is survived by her husband, David Upp, at home, and one son, Jerry Upp of Rochester.
Private family services will be held at a later date.
Burial will be at Rochester IOOF cemetery.
The Good Family Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Memorials may be made to Hope Hospice of Fulton County, Fulton County Historical Society or
Fulton County Transpo.
Phil J. Wickey
LONG BEACH, Calif. — Phil J. Wickey, 55, of Long Beach, Calif., passed away at 5 p.m. on
Sept. 9, 2007, due to a work related accident.
Phillip was born in Plymouth on Dec. 22, 1952, to James “Pete” and Betty Wickey. He moved to
Southern California in 1981 and was employed by the Department of Water and Power. On Oct.
8, 1988 Phil and Elizabeth were married
. She survives, along with a son Scott and his wife Brook
Phillip is also survived by his mother, Betty Taylor of Elkhart; his father, James “Pete” Wickey of
Plymouth; his sisters, Jill (Mark) Engle of Plymouth and Jennifer (William) McLaughlin of
Hypoluxo, Fla.; his brothers: J. Gregory (Diana) Leafgreen-Jones of Atlanta, Ga., David Wickey
of Tucson, Ariz. And Tom “Bomber” (Juanita) Wickey of Kentwood, Mich.
A memorial service will be held on Oct. 6, 2007 at 11 a.m. at the American Legion Post #27 in
Plymouth.
Local arrangements are being handled by the Van Gilder Funeral Home, 300 West Madison St.,
Plymouth, IN 46563.
The family requests that memorial contributions be given to the Timothy Hochstettler
Scholarship Fund, c/o The Marshall Community Foundation, 2701 North Michigan St., Plymouth,
IN 46563.
Richard Lee "Dick" Bammerlin
INVERNESS, Fla. — Richard Lee “Dick” Bammerlin, 72, of Inverness, Fla., died Monday, Sept.
10, 2007, at the Hospice House in Inverness, Fla.
Survivors include his wife, Joan; sons: Steven (Becky) Bammerlin of Elkhart, Kevin (Nancy)
Bammerlin of Plymouth and James (Judy) Bammerlin of Daytona, Fla.; brother-in-law, Larry
(Diana) Maxson of Bremen; sister-in-law, Linda (David) Rash of LaPaz; mother-in-law, Lucile
Maxson of Plymouth; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
There will be no visitation. His body will be cremated.
Heinz Funeral Home & Cremation, Inverness, is in charge of arrangements.
Elizabeth K. "Bess" Carter
PLYMOUTH — Elizabeth K. “Bess” Carter, 86, of Plymouth, died Monday, Sept. 10, 2007 at home.
She is survived by a brother, John R. Carter of Plymouth.
Visitation is Friday, Sept. 14 from 10 a.m. to noon at St. Michael Catholic Church, Plymouth.
Funeral services are Friday at noon at the church.
Burial will be at St. Michael Catholic cemetery, Plymouth.
Memorials may be made to the church or the Center for Hospice and Palliative Care.

Nicholas James Patterson
IRAQ — Sgt. Nicholas “Nick” James Patterson, 24, died Monday, Sept. 10, 2007, in Iraq, serving his
country.
He is survived by his wife, Jayme (Saner) Patterson and his son, Reilley, both of Fayetteville,
N.C.; his father and step-mother, James and Virginia Patterson, of Rochester; his mother and
step-father, Jane and Scott Holmes, of Warsaw; a step-brother, Kyle McLochlin of Rochester; a
sister Tai (Patterson) Johnson of Mishawaka; grandparents, Charles and Mollie Patterson,
Seabring, Fla. And Larry Holmes, Alma, Mich. And Betty Hewett, Mishawaka. Also surviving are
his “brothers” of 1-325 C-Troop with whom he took great pride in serving next to.
Viewing will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 18, at the Rochester High School gymnasium.
Services, including full military honors, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 19 also at the
Rochester High School gymnasium. A private, family burial will be held at the Akron cemetery
following the service.
A trust fund has been established at the 1st Source Bank of Rochester for his son. Memorials
may be sent in care of Reilley Patterson Trust Fund to any 1st Source Bank location. Envelopes
will be available at the visitation and funeral services.

Akron.
Herminia R. "Minnie" Bustamante
ROCHESTER — Herminia R. “Minnie” Bustamante, 76, of 4339 State Road 25 North,
Rochester, passed away at 4:12 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 11, 2007, at Woodlawn Hospital in
Rochester.
Minnie was born on June 17, 1931 in Gonzales, Texas, to Modesto and Juanita (Molinia) Rivera.
On June 14, 1947 Minnie married
Arthur J. Bustamante. They have been residents of the
Plymouth area for 28 years, before moving to the Rochester area three years ago.
Minnie was a member of Saint Joseph Catholic Church in Rochester.
Minnie is survived by her loving husband, Arthur J. Bustamante of Rochester; their sons: Al and
Barb Bustamante of Plymouth and Arthur J. Bustamante Jr. of Plymouth; their daughters: Anne
and Frank Murrillo of Houston, Texas and Annette Zaragoza of Houston; Minnie’s brother, Alex
Rivera of California; 16 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral services for Minnie, will be held on Friday, Sept. 14, 2007 at 2 p.m. at Van Gilder
Funeral Home with cremation will follow.
A time of visiting and sharing memories with the Bustamante family will be on Friday, Sept. 14,
2007 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Van Gilder Funeral Home, 300 West Madison St., Plymouth,
IN, 46563.
Memorial contributions, in Minnie’s name, may be made to the donor’s choice.
Irene Enders
PLYMOUTH — Irene Enders, 82, of Miller’s Merry Manor, Plymouth, formerly of Koontz Lake,
passed away Tuesday, Sept. 11, 2007 in Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center, Plymouth. Mrs.
Enders was born Aug. 3, 1925 in Bedford to Haskell and Bessie (Neely) Garrette and lived in
Plymouth for 10 years, coming from Koontz Lake. She was married
to Louis Enders, who
preceded her in death in 1974.
She was a former waitress at Oak Terrace Truck Stop in Grovertown for 25 years.
Survivors include: one sister, Rita Eddington of Grovertown; two brothers: James Smith of
Mayport, Pa. and Robert Harvey of Galesburg, Mich.; many nieces and nephews and friends.
Funeral services will be Friday at 2 p.m. EDT at Rannells Funeral Home, Koontz Lake Chapel.
Friends may call Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. EDT and Friday one hour prior to the funeral service
at the funeral home.
Floyd D. Hasting
HAMLET — Floyd D. Hasting, 47, of Hamlet, died Tuesday, Sept. 11, 2007 at U.S. 30 and C.R. 750
East, Hamlet, from injuries suffered in an automobile accident.
He is survived by a son, Travis Hasting of Hamlet; mother, Betty Sinn of Hamlet; and brothers:
Kenneth of Florida, Fred of Greencastle, Ray of Ora and Sam of Knox.
Visitation is Friday, Sept. 14 from 4 to 8 p.m. CDT and Saturday, Sept. 15 after 12 p.m. until the
time of services at Rannells Funeral Home, Hamlet Chapel. Funeral services will be Saturday,
Sept. 15 at 1 p.m. CDT at the funeral home. Burial will be at Fletcher cemetery, Hamlet.
William Hibbs
WALKERTON — William Hibbs, 85, formerly of Walkerton, died Tuesday, Sept. 11, 2007 at his
residence in Cave City, Ark.
He is survived by two sons, Leroy Van Dusen of Argos and Raymond Van Dusen of Wheatridge,
Colo.; four daughters, Dorothy Poledena of Niles, Mich., Lillian Cotton of Cave City, Ark., Pamela
Stice of Cave City, Ark. And Sandra Norris of Batesville, Ark.
A graveside memorial service with military honors will be held Sept. 22 at 2 p.m. at Walkerton
Woodlawn cemetery.
Local arrangements have been entrusted to Nusbaum-Elkin Funeral Home.
Joe R. Maze
ARGOS — Joe R. Maze, 84, of Argos, died Tuesday, Sept. 11, 2007 at 9:07 a.m. at home.
He is survived by his wife, Dona Maze of Argos; sons: Terry (Jennifer) Maze of Parker, Colo.
And Jerry Alan Maze of Madison, Wis.; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Visitation is Thursday, Sept. 13 from 6 to 8 p.m. and one hour before the service Friday at the
Earl-Grossman Funeral Home, 208 N. Michigan St., Argos.
Funeral services are Friday, Sept. 13 at 11 a.m. at the funeral home.
Burial will be at Maple Grove cemetery, Argos, with military graveside rites performed by James
Lowell Corey, American Legion Post #68 of Argos.

WINAMAC — Geneva Licker, 78, of Winamac, died Wednesday, Sept. 12, 2007 at Hickory Creek at
Winamac.
She is survived by daughters: Hope Thomas of Culver and Judy (Mike) Morrow of Winamac;
son, Guy (Kristin) Richie of Delphi; sisters: Hazel Dobson of Kentucky, Nokie Russell of
Winamac, Virgie Mullins of Savanah, Tenn., Helen Jenczalik of Knox, Katherine Morse of
Mishawaka, Annie Strange of Alabama, Utella Richie of Winamac, Sarah Jane Manns of
Winamac, Matilda Fullerton of Seattle, Wash. And Linda Jean Russell of Winamac; brother,
Bobby Howard Jr. of Winamac; 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
