Eugene H. Polk
Eugene H. Polk, 93, of Winona Lake, Indiana, died on 4/1/2010 at 3:00 a.m. at his residence. He was born on January 21, 1917 in Kosciusko County, Indiana.
Eugene was born to Edward C. and Emma Grace Hover Polk. On September 28, 1935, he married
Delight Paxton. She preceded him in death on July 24, 2004, after 68 years of marriage. Following their wedding, Eugene and Delight began life together on the William Wise Farm in Monroe Township. In 1938 they moved west of Claypool to Seward Township where they lived until 1976 when they sold their farm and purchased a home in Winona Lake, Indiana. In 1965, the Polk's began wintering in Delray Beach, Florida, where they both worked at Blood's Hammock Grove. In 1990, after 23 years of sorting fruit, Eugene retired. He was a member of the Center United Methodist Church, Silver Lake, Indiana. Eugene is survived by his son, Larry Polk and his wife Shirley, Leesburg, Indiana; a daughter Dixie Nichols and her husband John, Claypool, Indiana; a son-in-law Ed Hatfield, Warsaw, Indiana and his sister Gladys Gebert, Ft. Wayne, Indiana. Also surviving are his 9 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, 5 step-great grandchildren, 12 great-great grandchildren, and 5 step-great-great grandchildren. Grandchildren are Dennis Polk & wife Pam, Syracuse, Indiana; Tim Polk and wife Lili, Warsaw, Indiana; Sally Bailey and husband Gary, Leesburg, Indiana; Gary Polk of Leesburg, Indiana; Zella Hatfield, Warsaw, Indiana; Zona Blackburn and husband Rick of Silver Lake, Indiana; Zina Juillerat and husband Steve, Larwill, Indiana; Robert Nichols and wife Tammy, Smyrna, Georgia; and Penny Miller and husband Dave of Warsaw, Indiana. Eugene was also preceded in death by one daughter, Sandra Kay Hatfield,a sister Mildred Tinkey, and a brother Kenneth L. Polk. Eugene was a beloved and devoted father, grandfather, and friend. He will be deeply missed. Mildred Cora Metzger
Mildred Cora Metzger, 92, of Elkhart, Indiana and formerly of Pierceton, Indiana, died on 4/1/2010 at 9:45 am at Golden Living Center of Elkhart County. She was born on November 22, 1917 in Kosciusko County, Indiana.
Mildred was born to Grover and Beatrice (Sleighter) Long. She was a lifetime resident of Kosciusko County.
She married
Joe Metzger on November 23, 1935 in Pierceton. He preceded her in death on December 10, 2007.
Mildred worked for Oppenheim's Department Store for many years until retiring. She was a member of the United Methodist Church, Pierceton as well as a former member of the Womens' Relief Corps Auxiliary to the Grand Army of the Republic.
She is survived by her Son; Jerry (and spouse Dorma) Metzger, Goshen, Indiana
1 Grandson; Duane (and spouse Marcy) Metzger, Edwardsburg, Michigan
2 Granddaughters; Anita (and spouse Randy) Meade, Goshen, Indiana
Lynetter Metzger, Elkhart, Indiana
3 Great Grandchildren and many Nieces and Nephews.
Mildred is also preceded in death by a Sister and a Brother.
Funeral service will be privately held and not open to the public. Burial will be at Hillcrest cemetery, Pierceton, Indiana.

Pauline was born to the late William R. and Hazel (Elder) Robinson.
She was a lifetime resident of Pierceton and Warsaw area.

Russell G. Sibert on September 30, 1949 in Columbia City, Indiana.
She was a Pony Express Rider.
She retired from Sun Metal, Warsaw. she also worked at Kmart.

Marilyn A. Sowers, 76, of Warsaw, Indiana, died on 4/2/2010 at 10:15 AM at Kosciusko Community Hospital. She was born on April 27, 1933 in Albion, Indiana.
Marilyn was born to Clarence and Violet (Harlan) Scoby. She is formerly of South Whitley, Indiana and Warsaw, Indiana. On June 7, 1955, she married
Gaylord G. Sowers (preceded 8-11-07). She was a homemaker and attended Chapel Services at Mason Health Care and Rehabilitation. She is survived by 1 daughter: Carloyn (Jay Hunt) Sowers - South Whitley, Indiana; 1 son: Carl (spouse Laura) Sowers - Warsaw, Indiana; 4 grandchildren: Brittany (spouse Nick) Denney - Silver Lake, Indiana; Elaine Hunt - South whitley, Indiana; Heather (fiance Mike Rhines) Sowers - Warsaw, Indiana; Branden Sowers - Warsaw, Indiana. Virginia Slone
Virginia Slone, 83, of 900 Provident Drive, Warsaw, Indiana, died on 4/4/2010 at 2:37 AM at Mason Healthcare Center, Warsaw, Indiana. She was born on May 30, 1926 in Floyd County, Kentucky.
Virginia was born to John and Judy (Poe) Slone in Floyd County, Kentucky. On September 14, 1946 she married
Chris Allen in Pikeville, Kentucky. He preceded her in death on August 24, 1959. She loved time with family and friends, attending church when she was able, always giving or trying to help someone and also sewing quilts before her sickness. She was grandma to so many she met and a blessing to many she came in contact with along the way. She got the nickname High Kicker in exercises at Mason's. She loved those at Mason's and they became like family to her. She would refer to them as "my friends". Mason's became a safe haven for her as she would tell everyone "That is my home and they're good to me." She was also thankful for the care she received from Hospice. Thank you to all. God bless each and everyone of you for the care you gave our mother in the past trying years of her life. Thank you and God Bless Judy, Chris, Henry, Johnny, Harvey and Bucky. She was preceded in death by 1 granddaughter Rochelle Genevieve Allen. She is also survived by 19 great grandchildren: Zachary, Joshua and Breanna Woodcock of Warsaw; Lori Pennington of Winona Lake; Addison and Presley Pennington and Colin Shrock all of Bristol; Azalea and Kyelee Pennington of Fort Wayne; Jonathan Pennington and Nathan Totten of Texas; Chrissy and Michael Pozorski, Todd Jr., Brittney and Tiffany Cornett all of Mentone; Billy III Music of Ohio and Kimmy Music of Warsaw; Aiden Miller of Warsaw. She leaves behind many special friends, several nieces and nephews including a special niece Pat Wallen of Warsaw who helped her Aunt Virginia before she went into Mason's. Calling hours will be 5:00 P.M. until time of service on Thursday at the church with a church service at 7:00 P.M. on Wednesday, April 7, 2010. Burial will be at Center cemetery, Silver Lake, Indiana.

Eugene F. Young, Jr., 76, of Warsaw, Indiana, died on 4/5/2010 at 10:47 am at Parkview Whitley Hospital of Columbia City, Indian. He was born on August 8, 1933 in Littlefield, Texas.
Gene was born to E.F. and Tessie May (Williams) Young.
He was a longtime area resident.
Gene was united in marriage to to Patricia S. Borders on June 16, 1980 in Warsaw, Indiana. Patricia preceded Gene on February 16, 2010.
He was employed by Kralis Brothers Foods of Mentone, Indiana as Production Employee. Gene was a former Band Leader for Gene and the Sundowners performing Country Music in the Southwest are of the country. He faithfully served his country in the United States Navy.
Gene will be remembered by his adopted son Kenneth (spouse Julie Shepherd of North Manchester, Indiana and three adopted grandsons including, Jason Shepherd of Albion, Indiana; Jimmy Shepherd of Nappanee, Indiana and Joseph Shepherd of Royal Center, Indiana.
Ken Locke of the Salvation Army Church of warsaw, Indiana will officiate the services.

Colleen was born to Max and Martha (Grimes) McAllister. She was a lifetime resident of Kosciusko County and she worked for Dana Corporation in Syracuse,Indiana.

Howard Charles LaFollette, whom preceded her in death.
Colleen was a member of the United Auto Workers and the American Legion Auxiliary, Pierceton, Indiana. She also owned a Beauty Salon in Claypool, Indiana.

William E. Turner

William E. Turner, 87, of Fort Wayne, Indiana, died on 4/10/2010 at 4:20 pm at Waters of Summit City, Fort Wayne, Indiana. He was born on September 12, 1922 in Fort Wayne, Indiana.
William was born to Herbert and Joyce (Barker) Turner. He was a lifelong resident of Fort Wayne, Indiana; He married
Rosemary DeFravel on July 10, 1945 in Fort Wayne.
William served in the U.S. Army Air Corps. during World War II. He was an officer serving as a B24 Bombadier and was a P.O. W. (1945) in Moosburg, Germany at Stalag VII for 8 months.
He worked as a mechanical engineer for General Electric and was a member of Trinity English Lutheran Church, Fort Wayne. William was also a member of the Masonic Lodge-Southgate, Scottish Rite, Mizpah Shrine, P.O.W. Club and the American Legion Post #296, Fort Wayne. He was the oldest living Past Master of the Southgate Masonic Lodge.
William is survived by his Wife; Rosemary Turner, Fort Wayne, Indiana
