She was born at Wabash, Indiana on May 21, 1925 to Harley & Ethel (Cover) Sincroft. On August 9, 1946 she married Bill Miller. He died April 25, 1964. On October 27, 1964 she married Wayne Collett. He died May 27, 2000. A homemaker, she was a member of Congregational Christian Church, Psi Iota Psi and various veteran organizations. She was a 1943 graduate of Central High School. Surviving are three sons; Todd (Frances) Collett, Winona Lake, IN, Bill (Carol) Collett, North Manchester, IN and Jon Collett, Collamer, IN. Four grandchildren, Schuyler Collett, Amy Collett, Hayleigh Collett and Bethany Collett. Also surviving are a brother, Eldon (Marjorie) Sincroft, North Manchester, and a sister Norma Jeanne (DeWayne) Monce, North Manchester. One brother is decaesed. SERVICES WILL BE HELD WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 7, 2009 AT 1: 00 P.M. IN MCKEE MORTUARY. FRIENDS AND FAMILY MAY CALL ON TUESDAY, JANUARY 6 FROM 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. AT THE MORTUARY. Pastor J.P. RUBY CATHARINE MOORE, 98, NORTH MANCHESTER, IN
Ruby Catharine Moore, 98, North Manchester, IN and formerly of Warsaw, IN died at 1: 07 a.m. January 1, 2009 in Peabody Healthcare Center. She was born at LaPlace, Illinois on April 15, 1910 to Frank & Dollie (Bahney) Wolfe. On May 3, 1941 she married Wesley Moore. He died February 15, 2006. Surviving are two sons, Stanley (Dee) Moore, North Manchester, IN and Duane (Diane) Moore, Muncie, IN. Five grandchildren, Liza Moore, East Lansing, MI; Jacob Moore (fiance' Alyssa Anglin), Loveland, CO; Eric Moore (fiance' Emily Buckwalter), Tempe, AZ ; Ryan Moore and Lori Moore, Tucson, AZ. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Emerson Wolfe and Russell Wolfe. She grew up living at times in Florida, North Manchester and Goshen, IN where she graduated from Goshen High School in 1928. She graduated from the International Business College in Fort Wayne and attended Manchester College for her teaching certificate. She was an elementary school teacher at Laketon, IN during the 1930's. Ruby and her husband lived in Michigan for a number of years where she was a foster parent, 4-H leader, a member of the Women's Christian Temperance Union and actively involved with the Methodist Church and the Church of the Brethren. In 1960 she moved with her family to the Warsaw area where she and her husband owned and operated Moore's Pizza until retirement in 1975. After moving to Warsaw she was a member of the North Winona Church of the Brethren and involved with the local Farm Bureau chapter. Her greatest loves were her faith, her family, her pets, and the world of nature. She was an accomplished piano player and especially enjoyed playing and singing church hymns. Her cooking was legendary along with her gardening, caring for her fruit trees, and canning the produce she grew. She was an avid bird watcher and observer of wild flowers. She loved caring for her animal friends, both large and small. SERVICES WILL BE HELD SATURDAY, JANUARY 3, 2009 AT 2: 00 P.M. IN PEABODY CHAPEL, 400 W. SEVENTH STREET, NORTH MANCHESTER, IN. FRIENDS AND FAMILY MAY CALL ONE HOUR PRIOR TO SERVICES. Rev. Sue Babovec will officiate and burial will follow in Pleasant Hill cemetery, North Manchester. GLADYS V. KENNEDY, 87, WINONA LAKE, IN
Gladys V. Kennedy, 87, Winona Lake, IN died at 9: 40 a.m. Monday, December 29, 2008 in Grace Village Healthcare Center, Winona Lake, IN. She was born at Conneaut, Ohio on February 20, 1921 to Henry & Hazel (Winan) Parris. On December 31, 1941 she married Myrl Thomas "Tom" Kennedy. He died January 10, 1991. Surviving are one son, Raymond "Budd" (Gale) Kennedy, Satsuma, FL and one daughter, Mrs. Bob (Marie) Quick, North Manchester, IN. One sister, Florence Hicks, Puyallup, WA. Eight grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a grandson, one brother, three sisters and a daughter, Tomma Sims who died February 18, 1993. Gladys had been employed at Chamberlain Products at South Whitley, IN and Carson-Perie-Scott Department Store in Michigan City, IN. She was a member of the United Methodist Church. SERVICES WILL BE HELD TUESDAY, JANUARY 6, 2009 AT 10: 00 A.M. IN GRACE VILLAGE CHAPEL, 1325 WOOSTER ROAD, WINONA LAKE, IN WITH PASTOR GLENN BYERS OFFICIATING. Martha M. Jacobs, 88, Silver Lake, IN died at 2: 35 p.m. Friday, December 12, 2008 in Kosciusko Community Hospital, Warsaw, IN. She was born in Wabash County, Indiana on November 10, 1920 to Wilfred & Ina (Price) Oldfather. On February 2, 1940 she married Lewis I. Jacobs. He survives. Also surviving are two sons, Michael (Kathleen) Jacobs, Bippus, IN and Sam Jacobs, Laketon, IN. One daughter, Mrs. Walter (Linda) Fulton, Andrews, IN. A sister, Naomi Floor, Silver Lake. Six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parnets, five brothers and three sisters. A homemaker, she was a member of the South Pleasant United Methosist Church and a charter member of the United Methodist Women. SERVICES WILL BE HELD WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 17, 2008 AT 11: 00 A.M. Lawrence G. Stewart, 99, formerly of rural Roann, IN died Thursday, December 11, 2008 at 8: 48 p.m. in Peabody Healthcare Center, North Manchester, IN. He was born January 12, 1909 in Paw Paw Township, Wabash County, IN to Ernest A. & Maude (Butler) Stewart. He graduated from Urbana High School, Urbana, IN, class of 1927. On January 12, 1929 he married Kendall Lucille Swygart. She died February 9, 1995. He was a retired farmer, member of Roann Christian Church, Roann, IN and avid fan of I.U., Purdue, Chicago Cubs, Cincinnati Reds and St. Louis Cardinals. He also loved harness racing. He is survived by six grandchildren, John Schmalzried, North Manchester, IN, Thomas Stewart, South Korea, Marci (Stewart) Hamilton, Fort Wayne, IN, Steve Ferrer, Indianapolis, IN, Susan Ferrer, Indianapolis, IN and James Ferrer, Indianapolis, IN; seven great grandchildren, Justin Schmalzried, Natalie Stewart, Colton Stewart, Megan Stewart, Samuel Ferrer, Sydney Hamilton and Hannah Stewart. He was preceeded in death by one son, Winston Stewart, two daughters, Joanne Ferrer & Peggy Schmalzried, one grandson, David Stewart, one granddaughter, Janet Schmalzried, one great grandson, Cameron Stewart and one sister, Sarah Evelyn Stewart. Edith Mae Miller, 92, formerly of Claypool, IN died at 4: 00 a.m. Tuesday, December 9, 2008 in Peabody Healthcare Center, North Manchester, IN. She was born June 11, 1916 in Floyd County, KY to James & Julia (Green) Dixon. On December 22, 1939 in Water Gap, KY she married Jack Miller. He died January 18, 1972. She was a homemaker and attended Pleasant Valley United Baptist Church, rural Silver Lake, IN. She is survived by one son, Gary Ray Miller, Claypool, IN; three daughters, Mrs. Don (Julia Ann) Bartley, Enterprise, AL, Linda Sue Blanton, Claypool, IN and Mrs. Chris (Connie) Gates, Claypool, IN; two brothers, Jimmie Dixon & Johnnie Dixon both of Prestonsburg, KY; one sister, Mrs. Smith (Sulie) Marsillett, Prestonsburg, KY; fourteen grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren and ten great great grandchildren. One son, one brother and one great grandchild are deceased. SERVICES: THURSDAY, DECEMBER 11, 2008 AT 11: 00 A.M. AT DELAUGHTER-MCKEE MORUTARY, NORTH MANCHESTER, IN. PAULINE HOOVER, 92, NORTH MANCHESTER, IN
Pauline Hoover, 92, Timbercrest Senior Living Community, North Manchester, IN died at 3: 50 a.m. Friday, December 5, 2008 in Timbercrest Healthcare Center. She was born at North Canton, Ohio on November 18, 1916. Her parents Samuel & Alice (Mishler) Holl are deceased. She graduated in May 1937 from Manchester College majoring in English, Business English and Library Science. In the summer of 1938 she received teaching licenses for Ohio and Indiana. She was a librarian and taught English at Elmhurst High School, Fort Wayne from August 1938 - December 1939. After marriage she was a homemaker and bookkeeper for Hoover Farms. On December 24, 1939 she married H. Robert Hoover. He died February 9, 2006. Surviving are two sons, Steve (Elit) Hoover, Roanoke, IN and John (Karin) Hoover, Knoxville, TN. A daughter, Mary Ann (Gary) Frey, North Manchester, IN. Nine grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Two grandchildren, one sister, three half brothers and two half sisters are deceased. Pauline was a member of Manchester Church of the Brethren. SERVICES WILL BE HELD FRIDAY, DECEMBER 12, 2008 AT 2: 00 P.M. IN TIMBERCREST CHAPEL, 2201 EAST STREET, NORTH MANCHESTER, IN. FRIENDS AND FAMILY MAY CALL AT THE CHAPEL TWO HOURS PRIOR TO SERVICES. WILLIAM A. "BILL" SMILEY, 64, SILVER LAKE, IN
William A. "Bill" Smiley, 64, Silver Lake, IN died Tuesday, December 2, 2008 at 6: 05 p.m. in his residence. He was born June 4, 1944 in Warsaw, IN to Bert & Georgia (Warren) Smiley Jr. He graduated from Atwood High School in 1962 and was a US Army veteran. Bill retired in 1999 from R.R. Donnelley & Sons, Warsaw, IN after 36 years of service. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and spending time with his children and grandchildren. He was a member of the John C. Peterson American Legion Post #0049 in Warsaw, IN. On August 19, 1967 he married Juanita "Tina" Royce. She survives. Also surviving are one son, Shawn (Heidi) Smiley, Fort Wayne, IN; one daughter, Kristina M. Smiley, North Manchester, IN; five grandchildren, Cristofer Smiley, North Manchester, IN; Brittany Smiley, North Manchester, IN; Derek Smiley, Fort Wayne, IN; Dustin Smiley, Fort Wayne, IN and Treyvin Moss, Fort Wayne, IN. He was born in Ashland, KY on February 8, 1922 to Henry & Lola (Salyers) Carpenter. On October 18, 1944 he married Helen I. Clemons. She died September 5, 2002. Surviving are a daughter, Vickie Carpenter, Yelm, WA. Two sisters, Madge Buckley, Carleton, MI and Mable Fry, Frankfort, IN. Also surviving are three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one son, one brother and three sisters. Lacy was a retired supervisor from General Tire in Wabash, IN. He was a WW II US Army veteran serving from 1942-1946 and attended Laketon Wesleyan Church. GRAVESIDE SERVICES WILL BE HELD AT 11: 00 A.M. They survive at North Manchester. Also surviving are two daughters, Kim England, Laketon, IN and April England, Huntington, IN. One brother, Rick "Chip" England, North Manchester, IN, a sister Kim (Rick) Robison, North Manchester, IN. He was a truck driver for Pierceton Trucking since May of 2008. Prior to that he was a driver for Cripe Transport for 6 years and had worked at Invensys Controls for 23 years. He enjoyed riding his Harley-Davidson, fishing, hunting and spending time with family. He attended Congregational Christian Church. SERVICES WILL BE HELD TUESDAY NOVEMBER 25, 2008 AT 11: 00 A.M. IN CONGREGATIONAL CHRISTIAN CHURCH, 310 N. WALNUT STREET, NORTH MANCHESTER, IN.
