He worked at Lott Industries at Toledo for over 30 years. Surviving are a brother, Dr. Richard (Patricia) Penwell, Hilton Head, SC and a sister, Jane (Noel) Kimmel, Fort Wayne, IN. Two nieces; Dr. Melissa Penwell, Phoenix, AZ and Amy Penwell, Charlotte, NC. He was preceded in death by his mother, Ruth and a brother, Steven Eller. JERALD LEE SCHALL, 75, NORTH MANCHESTER, IN
Jerald Lee Schall, 76, North Manchester, IN died at 5: 25 a.m. Wednesday, May 10, 2006 at Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne, IN. He was born May 10, 1930 in Buffalo, NY to Roy Henry & DeNellda (Lindau) Schall, both deceased. He graduated from Paulding High School, Paulding, OH in 1948 and Wittenberg University, Springfield, OH in 1952 with a BS in business Administration. He was then drafted inton the Army and spent two years in the U.S. Postal Service in Germany. Jerry was a securities salesman for Merrill Lynch in Fort Wayne, IN. He then worked for the Magnavox Company in Fort Wayne, IN, Urbana, IL, Torrance, CA, Philadelphia, PA and Manlius, NY, rising from senior accountant to comptroller of the cable television division. In retirement, he learned construction skills and built three houses on speculation. He also worked for Worth Tax Service, Warsaw, IN during tax seasons 1991 to present. Served as treasurer of Manchester Church of the Brethren, the Mancheter Symphony Society, and the Manchester Shepherd's Center. Surviving are his wife, Jo Ann (Clingenpeel) Schall, two daughters, Jennifer Lyn Schall, North Manchester, IN, Dr. Janine Marie Schall, Edinburg, TX, and one brother, Ned (Mary) Schall, Mt. Pleasant, SC. Two brothers, Bob & Hal Schall, are deceased. SERVICES: MONDAY, MAY 15, 2006 AT 3: 00 P.M. IN MANCHESTER CHURCH OF THE BRETHREN, 1306 N. BECKLEY ST., NORTH MANCHESTER, IN. A North Manchester resident since 1978, he was an employee of Peabody Seating Co. until it's closing. He was also a local handyman. Survivors include one son; Mark L. Stephens, Indianapolis, IN / one daughter; Claudia K. Stephens, Greenwood, IN / his former wife; Mariann (Kocsis) Martin, Titusville, FL / three brothers; Leroy Stephens, Mishawaka, IN, Ferd Stephens, Granger, IN and Billy J. Stephens, Nashville, TN. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Fannie Pitts and Thelma Kuhl. He was a Army veteran of World War II. GRAVESIDE SERVICES FRIDAY, MAY 12, 2006 AT 11: 00 A.M. LUCILLE FORD, 98, NORTH MANCHESTER, IN
Lucille Ford, 98, Peabody Retirement Community, North Manchester, IN and formerly of rural Claypool, IN died at 11: 00 a.m. Saturday, May 6, 2006. She was born in Lake Township, Kosciusko County, Indiana on February 18, 1908 to Earl B. and Elsie A. (Irvin) Spangle. On August 13, 1930 she married George E. Ford. He died January 24, 1982. She was a homemaker and farmer's wife. A graduate of Silver Lake High School in 1926, she was a member of the Eel River Community Church of the Brethren and the ladies aid of the church. Surviving are two daughters; Mrs. Harvey (Anita) DeFrees, Syracuse, IN and Linda Hathaway, North Manchester, IN. One brother; Joe Spangle, North Manchester, IN. Four grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, six brothers and two sisters. SERVICES ARE PRIVATE. Friends may call on Sunday, May 14, 2006 from 1: 00 to 3: 00 p.m. in DeLaughter-McKee Mortuary North Manchester Chapel. Burial will be in Ulrey cemetery, Silver Lake, IN.

ARTHUR G. SHULL, 94, NORTH MANCHESTER, IN
Arthur G. Shull, 94, Timbercrest Senior Living Community, North Manchester, IN died at 11: 04 p.m. Sunday, April 30, 2006 in Timbercrest Healthcare Center. He was born March 2, 1912 in Gerrard, IL to William H. and Clara (Gibson) Shull. He married Mildred N. Neher on May 28, 1937. She died May 7, 2004. He graduated from Gerrard, IL High School in 1930 and from Manchester College in 1935 with a BA in social studies. He received his MA from Indiana University in economics. He was a past president of the Venice (FL) Kiwanis Club and a member of Phi Delta Kappa. A teacher and school administrator, he retired in 1975 as treasurer and vice principal of Shortridge High School, Indianapolis, IN. Surviving are one son, Dr. Steven Shull, Columbus, OH, one daughter, Mrs. Robert (Mary Evelyn) Barcus, Indianapolis, IN, four grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Six brothers and three sisters are deceased. SERVICES WILL BE HELD SATURDAY, MAY 13, 2006 AT 2: 00 P.M. IN TIMBERCREST CHAPEL, 2201 EAST STREET, NORTH MANCHESTER, IN. FRIENDS MAY CALL ONE HOUR PRIOR TO SERVICES AT TIMBERCREST CHAPEL. Chaplain Joan Deeter and Chaplain David Doudt will officiate. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill cemetery. North Manchester, IN. Betty L. Staton, 63, North Manchester, IN died at 2: 40 a.m. Saturday in Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne, IN. Born at Owingsville, KY on August 23, 1942 to Shirley and Lodema (Hunt) Purvis. On March 26, 1958 she married William E. Staton. He survives. Also surviving are two sons; Burnie (Val) Staton and Wayne (Luci) Staton, both of North Manchester, IN. Two daughters; Nola King, Warsaw, IN and Iva (John) Hedrick, Rochester, IN. One brother, Claude Purvis, Salt Lick, KY; four sisters; Nancy McCarty, Salt Lick, KY; Sophia (Randy) Conway, Owingsville, KY; Lottie (Jimmy) Brown and Oakie (Robin) Reffitt, both of Salt Lick, KY. 14 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. One daughter, Phyllis Kay Shideler preceded her in death. SERVICES TUESDAY MAY 2, 2006 AT 10: 00 A.M. IN DELAUGHTER-MCKEE MORTUARY NORTH MANCHESTER CHAPEL. Kline and a daughter, Amy J. Kline, both of North Manchester, IN. Three brothers; Robert (June) Kline, Mexico, IN / Frank (Betty) Kline, Peru, IN / Charles Kline, South Bend, IN. Four sisters; Mary (Clayton) Applington, Kokomo, IN / Doris Fisher, New Haven, IN / Rosie (Charles) Stout, Peru, IN / Barbara Burns, Tallahassee, FL. Three brothers are deceased. Mr. Kline retired in 1996 after 36 years as a crane operator at North Manchester Foundry. He was a member of the North Manchester Volunteer Fire Dept for 15 years and assistant sexton at Oaklawn cemetery, North Manchester for 6 years. He was a 1985 graduate of Manchester High School and graduated from Northwestern Business College. Also surviving are a son, Kyle K. Quick and a daughter, Kristin E. Quick, both of Warsaw, IN. A brother, Roy F. Quick, Indianapolis, IN and a sister, Kandie A. Quick, North Manchester, IN. His maternal grandmother, Gladys Kennedy, Winona Lake, IN also survives.
