Rev. Joseph R. Shanley
LANCASTER, Pa. — The Rev. Joseph Robert Shanley, 41, passed away Feb. 23, 2005, at his residence.
He was the husband of The Rev. Eloise M. Hummel Shanley, with whom he was married
15 years last Aug. 26.
Born in Steubenville, Ohio, raised in Alexandria, he was the son of John Joseph and Barbara Ann Aldrich Shanley of Alexandria.
He attended Lutheran Church of Our Blessed Savior in Alexandria. Pastor Shanley was a graduate of Alexandria-Monroe High School in 1982 and graduated with a bachelor of science degree in history and political science from Ball State University, Muncie, in 1986 where he was active in the United Campus Ministry and the band. He held a Master of Divinity from the Lutheran Theological Seminary at Gettysburg, where he graduated in 1992.
During his ministry, he served parishes in Paris, Canton, Minerva, and Austintown, all in Ohio. While in Pennsylvania, he served at St. Luke’s in New Bridgeville, and Grace Evangelical Lutheran in Red Lion.
Currently, he co-pastored along with his wife at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Millersville, Pa.
Surviving in addition to his wife and parents are a son, Nicholas A.E. and a daughter, Kathleen R.M., both at home; two sisters, Lisa Buck of Breeding, Ky., and JoAnn Bussen of Hoffman Hendrix, Bishop of the Lower Susquehanna Synod, officiating and will include a procession of clergy.
Private interment will be held at the convenience of the family.
There will be a viewing at the church on today from 6 to 9 p.m. and also on Monday from 9 to 11 a.m. Kindly omit flowers.
Memorial remembrances can be made in Pastor Shanley’s memory to Lutheran Church of Our Blessed Savior, Alexandria.

Nancy J. Schwaller
April 11, 1940 - Feb. 25, 2005
MONROE, Ind. — Nancy J. Schwaller, 64, died Feb. 25, 2005, in Adams County Memorial Hospital in Decatur, Ind.
She had been employed by Elkhart Products Corp. for 29 years.
Survivors include her husband, Wilbur Schwaller (family in Anderson) ; sons, Earl E. Ewart, Kevin L. Ewart and Scott A. Ewart; step-children, Louis Schwaller, Barbara and husband William Peele and Caryl Schwaller; nine grandchildren; brothers, Richard Pinkerton, Paul Pinkerton and Raymond Pinkerton; and sisters, Mary and husband, James Reed, Alice and husband Delmar James and Shirley and husband Mike Duncan.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at First Church of Christ in Bluffton, Ind., officiated by Larry Sprinkle. Burial will take place at Anderson Memorial Park cemetery, Anderson, Ind.
Visitation hours are from 1 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Goodwin Memorial Chapel, 3220 E. Indiana 124, Bluffton, Ind.
Samuel P. Roseberry
July 7, 1898 - Dec. 21, 2004
Samuel P. Roseberry, 106, of Anderson, died Dec. 21, 2004, at Countryside Manor in Anderson following an extended illness.
He served his country in the U.S. Army during World War I where he earned the French Medal of Honor. He was the last Madison County surviving veteran of World War I. He was the owner of Roseberry’s Grocery in Anderson.
Survivors include his son, Philip (wife, Carol) Roseberry; daughter, Anita (husband, Augustine) Seulean; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
His wife, Fay L. Roseberry, died March 24, 1984.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 5, at First United Methodist Church,1215 Jackson St., Anderson.
Memorial contributions may be made to First United Methodist Church or to the Christian Center in Anderson.
Herman V. Nibarger
Dec. 1, 1917 - March 4, 2005
Herman Vaughn Nibarger, 87, Anderson, passed away March 4, 2005, at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis. He was a former resident of rural Markleville.
He was born Dec. 1, 1917, in Markleville, the son of Homer and Mayme (Hindricks) Nibarger.
He retired as an equipment sales dealer in 1961 and was a lifelong farmer, retiring in 1980.
Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Edna (McCune) Nibarger of Anderson; a son, Robert E. Nibarger of Virginia Beach, Va.; two granddaughters, Carmen (husband, John) Compton of Montsursville, Pa., and Krista (husband, Joshua) Hodsden of Akron, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday at Condo & Son Funeral Home, Wilkinson. Burial will be in Grovelawn cemetery in Pendleton.
Visitation will be one hour before service Monday at the funeral home.
