CULVER — Alvin H. Hartz, 85, of Culver, died Wednesday, Nov. 19, 2008 at St. Elisabeth Regional Health Facility in Lafayette, Ind.
He is survived by his sons: Hugh (Sharon) Hartz of Culver, P. Nick (Aggie) Hartz od Silver Lak.,
L. Douglas (Judy) Hartz of Plymouth; a daughter, Pam (Douglass) Miller of Culver; nine
grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
A graveside memorial service will be held Saturday, Dec. 13 at 10 a.m. at the Culver Masonic
cemetery in Culver. Those planning to attend should meet at the cemetery.
Memorials may be given to the American Heart Association or to the American Cancer Society.
Bonine-Odom Funeral Home, 104 E. Lakeshore Dr., Culver was in charge of arrangements.

Danny L. McCormick
CRAWFORDVILLE, Fla. — Danny L. McCormick, 54, of Crawfordville, Fla., formerly of Portage,
Ind., died Wednesday, Nov. 19, 2008 in Tallahassee Memorial Hospital, from an illness.
Survivors include his mother, Dona "Dolly" McCormick of Koontz Lake, Ind.; two sisters, Debra
(Les) Slatton of Osceola, Ind. and Maureen McCormick of Koontz Lake, Ind.; two brothers, Jack
(Annie) McCormick of Virginia City, Mont. and Gary McCormick of Koontz Lake, Ind.
Visitation will take place Monday, Nov. 24 from 4 to 8 p.m. EST and Tuesday one hour prior to
the service.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, Nov. 25 at 11 a.m. Eastern Time at Rannells Funeral Home,
Koontz Lake Chapel. Burial will follow at the Grovertown cemetery. For information call, 574-

Catherine ‘Cathy’ C. Flora Miller
WEST LAFAYETTE — Catherine ‘Cathy’ C. Flora Miller, 90, of West Lafayette, formerly of
Plymouth, died Wednesday, Nov. 19, 2008 in the High Desert Medical Center, in Joshua Tree, Calif.
She is survived by her husband, John L. ‘Jack’ Miller; a son; David (Nila) Russell of Lake
Havasu City, Ariz.; daughters: Sandra K. Russell of West Lafayette and Janet D. Swinford of
Joshua Tree, Calif.; 11 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Cremation was chosen and a memorial service will be held at a later time. Family & Friends
Funeral Home of Wingate is assisting the family.
WEST LAFAYETTE — Catherine ‘Cathy’ C. Flora Miller, 90 of West Lafayette, died Wednesday,
Nov. 19, 2008 following a short illness in the High Desert Medical Center, in Joshua Tree, Calif.,
where she and her husband spent the winter months with her daughters.
Cathy was born in Plymouth on Dec. 24, 1917 the daughter of Simon and Charlotte Bryan Flora.
She was a graduate of Plymouth High School and she had lived on the west coast for several
years before returning to Lafayette in 1955. On Aug. 26, 1967 she was married to John L. ‘Jack’
Miller in Lafayette, he survives. Together they had traveled and constructed several homes in
West Lafayette. Cathy also took great pride in her flower gardens and enjoyed her
grandchildren..
Surviving along with her husband are a son, David Russell (wife Nila) of Lake Havasu City, Ariz;
two daughters: Sandra K. Russell and Janet D. Swinford, both of Joshua Tree, Calif.; eight
grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death along with her parents were a daughter Carole A. Rachel;
granddaughters: Crissa Swinford and Elizabeth Ann Dillingham; three sisters: Paula J. Stevens
of Medaryville, Mildred Price of Lafayette, and Delores Singer of South Bend.
A memorial service will be held Sunday, June 28, 2009 at 1 p.m. at Family & Friends Funeral
Home of Wingate with family members officiating.

John M. Voreis
HAMLET — John M. Voreis, 88, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 19, 2008 in Golden Living
Center, Knox. Mr. Voreis was born Dec. 4, 1919 in Valparaiso to Roscoe and Trella (Truex)
Voreis and lived in the area all of his life. On April 11, 1970 in Knox, he was married to Frances
Samuels Arndt, who survives. Also surviving are: one son, Robert (Judy) Voreis of Brownsville,
Texas; two step-daughters: Joan Arndt and Kathy Singleton, both of Knox; one step-son, Leslie
(Bonnie) Arndt Jr. of Rochester; one brother, Ira Voreis of Florida; 11 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren;
three great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one step-daughter, Nancy (Jim) Singleton; one step-son, Mike
Arndt; and one granddaughter, Doris Haynes.
Mr. Voreis was a former heavy equipment operator and retired from the Operating Engineers
Local 150. He was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII and a life member of the Hamlet American
Legion Post #356. He loved gardening and working in his yard.
Funeral services will be Saturday at 1 p.m. CST at Rannells Funeral Home, Hamlet Chapel with
Pastors Matt Elliott and James Singleton officiating. Burial will be in the Fletcher cemetery,
Hamlet. Military graveside services will be conducted by the Hamlet American Legion.

Robert Nelson Lightfoot
LAKEVILLE — Bob Lightfoot, 80, of Lakeville, passed away suddenly at 7: 30 a.m. Thursday,
Nov. 20, 2008 at his home. Bob was a lifelong resident of Lakeville. He was born May 5, 1928 in
North Liberty to Nelson and Cecile (Day) Lightfoot. He married the former Jean Mikel in 1949.
They celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary on Wednesday, Nov. 19.
Along with his wife, Jean, he is survived by his son, Michael N. (Jacci) Lightfoot of Wakarusa;
son-in-law, Kent M. Gilmer of South Bend; four grandchildren: Sarah (Chad) Berger of LaPaz,
Carrie (Steve) Smith of Mishawaka, Robbie Lightfoot and Ryne Lightfoot, both of Wakarusa;
three great-grandchildren, Michaela Berger, Jackson Smith and Ryann Smith; sister, Helen Ruth
Wiegand of Lakeville; and brother, Richard “Dick” (Marilyn) Lightfoot of Plymouth.
His daughter, Lynette Gilmer preceded him in death Aug. 27, 1986.
Bob was employed by Studebaker, Heat Treat and Hop Cap before becoming self employed in
woodworking. He was an active member of Lakeville United Methodist Church, where he sang in
the choir for over 30 years and served on various committees. He also served as part of the
Lakeville Fire Department for over 20 years. Bob loved watching his grandsons, granddaughters
and three great- grandchildren. A man of quiet strength, Bob will be deeply missed by his family.
Friends are invited to visit with the family from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 23, 2008 and 10 to11
a.m. Monday in the Lakeville United Methodist Church, 610 N. Michigan St. Lakeville. A
celebration of his life will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 24, in the church. Rev. Larry Dimick
will officiate. Burial will follow in Southlawn cemetery, South Bend. Palmer Funeral Home,
Lakeville is assisting the family with arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to his two passions, Lakeville United
Methodist Church, 610 N. Michigan St., Lakeville, IN 46536 or Bethel College Basketball, 1001
McKinley, Mishawaka, IN 46545.

Peggy A. Splix Nelson
LAKE WORTH, Fla. – A funeral service for Peggy A. Splix Nelson will be held at the Plymouth
Missionary Church, 1350 E. Jefferson Street, at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 20, 2008.
Friends will be welcomed by her family from 4 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, November 19, in the
Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan St., Plymouth.
Visitation will continue one hour prior to services in the church.
Burial will be in New Oakhill cemetery, Plymouth.
Memorial gifts to the Peggy Nelson Memorial Scholarship Fund.

Vanessa Martinez
ARGOS — Vanessa Martinez, of Argos, was stillborn on Friday, Nov. 21, 2008 at Memorial
Hospital in South Bend.
She is survived by her parents, Marco and Maria Mineva Martinez, and her two brothers: Marco
Jr. and Oswaldo, all at home.
Funeral services for will be held Tuesday, Nov. 25 at 7 p.m. at Van Gilder Funeral Home.
Visitation is Tuesday, Nov. 25 from 6 to 7 p.m. at the Van Gilder Funeral Home, 300 W. Madison
St., Plymouth.

Richard Lowell Stout
SEBRING, Fla. — Richard Lowell Stout, 69, of Sebring, Fla., passed away Friday, Nov. 21,
2008, at his home. He was born June 10, 1939, to William Leslie and Ruby (Kenneth) Stout in
Winchester, Ohio, and moved to Sebring from Ohio. He was a salesman in the trucking industry
and was a veteran of the U.S. Marines, serving during peacetime. He was a member of the
Moose Lodge, a lifetime member of the American Legion and Amvets and was of the Christian
faith. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, traveling, cooking, entertaining friends and spending time with
family.
Mr. Stout is survived by his wife, Debra Stout; mother, Ruby Tanner; children: Risa (Gary)
Boone, Shelley (Jeff) Patton, Rich Stout, all of Hillsboro, Ohio; Danielle (Richie) Erwin, Sebring,
Fla. And Walker (Lani) Stout, Annville, Pa; brother, Leslie Stout of Seguin, Texas; sister, Sherry
(Bud) Ritchie, Hillsboro, Ohio; numerous nieces and nephews and 14 grandchildren. He was
preceded in death by his father, William Leslie Stout.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec.6, 2008, at Hillsboro Bible Baptist
Church in Hillsboro, Ohio.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Good Shepherd Hospice of Highlands County,
4418 Sun ‘n Lake Blvd., Sebring, FL 33872 or VA Fisher House in West Palm Beach, FL.

Helen L. Cole
WALKERTON — Helen L. Cole, 94, died Saturday, Nov. 22, 2008 in Memorial Hospital, South Bend.
She is survived by five daughters: Janet Cole of California, Rosalie Hayward of Lafayette, Helen
Harbin of Mishawaka, MarJean McCarthy of Chicago, Ill. and Billie Jo Harshey of Indianapolis;
three sons: Larry Cole of Pearl River, La., Walter Cole of South Bend and Jerry Cole of
Walkerton; 16 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; brother, Bud Perkins of Hamlet; and sister,
Doris Robinson of Walkerton. Private graveside services will take place at a later date.
Memorial contributions may be given to the hospice of choice. Rannells Funeral Home, Hamlet
Chapel is handling arrangements.

Reva L. Klinedinst
PLYMOUTH — Reva L. Klinedinst, 87, of 4620 Olive Rd., Plymouth, passed away, Saturday,
Nov. 22, 2008, at her home.
Reva was born on Aug. 28, 1921, in Lakeville, to William and Hazel (Ransberger) Zentz. Reva
and Alfred Klinedinst were married on April 28, 1939, in Plymouth. Alfred passed away on Feb.
21, 1977. She worked at South Bend Supply for five years and also at the Walkerton Post
Office. She was a member of the Tyner United Methodist Church, the Tyner Rebekah Lodge,
and had lived in the Plymouth-Tyner area most of her life.
She is survived by her sons: Alfred “Sonny” (Shirley) Klinedinst of Plymouth and Lewis “Lew”
(Faye) Klinedinst of Plymouth; her daughter-in-law, Nenneth Klinedinst of Plymouth; 10
grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred; her son, Garry, and her brother, Roderick
Zentz.
A time of visiting with the family will be Wednesday, Nov. 26, 2008, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the VAN
GILDER FUNERAL HOME, 300 W. Madison St., Plymouth, IN 46563.
The funeral service will be Friday, Nov. 28, 2008, at 2 p.m. at the VAN GILDER FUNERAL
HOME, Plymouth, with the Rev. Mike Dixon officiating.
Burial will be in the Tyner cemetery, Tyner.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given the Center for Hospice and Palliative Care, Inc., 112
S. Center St., Plymouth, IN 46563.

Betty Lou Lutes
NAPPANEE — Betty Lou Lutes, 80, of US 6 west in Nappanee, died Saturday, Nov. 22, 2008 at
4: 45 a.m. at Elkhart General Hospital, Elkhart following a brief illness.
She is survived by four daughters: Debra (Roger) Briscoe of Nappanee, Patricia Grove of
Nappanee, Rose (Orville) Scott, Tomah, Wisc. and Sue (John) Reaker, of Elkhart, Ind.; a son,
Robert Hamilton of Plant City, Fla.; 10 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren and a brother,
Charles E. Weaver of Nappanee.
Visitation will be Monday, Nov. 24 from 2 to 8 p.m. and one hour prior to the funeral service
Tuesday at Thompson-Lengacher & Yoder Funeral Home, 950 N. Main St. Nappanee.
Funeral services will take place Tuesday, Nov. 25 at 2 p.m. at Nappanee Church of the Brethren
and burial will follow at Stony Point cemetery, Nappanee.
Memorials may be made to Nappanee Church of the Brethren.

Angela "Angie" K. Beatty
PLYMOUTH — Angela "Angie" K. Beatty, 36, died Sunday, Nov. 23, 2008 at Saint Joseph
Regional Medical Center, Plymouth, after a long battle with Lupus.
She is survived by her fiancé of 10 years, Duane A. Alexander; her daughter, Kayla K. Beatty
and her fiance' Mitchell Lawrence; two sons, Derrick R. Beatty and Duane A. Alexander II, all of
Plymouth and a brother, Richard Stiles.
Visitation will take place Wednesday, Nov. 26 from 10 to 11 a.m. at New Oakhill cemetery Chapel.
Funeral services will take place at 11 a.m. Wednesday with burial to follow at the New Oakhill
cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the family or to the Lupus Foundation of America.
The Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan St., Plymouth is in charge of arrangements.

Donna Jane Rock Crispen
ROCHESTER — Donna Jane Rock Crispen, 51, of Rochester, died Sunday, Nov. 23, 2008.
She is survived by her husband, Steven D. Crispen; daughters: Stacy Jane Manns and
companion James Dice of Akron, Jacqueline M. Manns and fiance Daniel Peters Jr. of North
Manchester, and Courtney Altalee Kirby and companion Jeremy Shock of Macy; son, Joshua D.
Kirby of Rochester; stepdaughters: Amanda M. Barnes of Akron and Katherine R. Mullins and
fiance Jay Schlosser of Tiosa; nine grandchildren; mother, Alta Madlem of Macy; and brothers:
Darl Wayne (Janet) Rock of Rochester, Richard E. (Jeannie) Rock of Kewanna, and John W.
(Linda) Rock of Twelve Mile.
Visitation is Friday, Nov. 28 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Good Family Funeral Home, Rochester, and
one hour prior to the service Saturday. Funeral services are Saturday, Nov. 29 at 10 a.m. at the
funeral home. Burial will be at the Richland Center IOOF cemetery.
Memorials may be made to The Old Cross Road Baptist Church of Gilead.
