James "Jim" Farrer
BREMEN — James “Jim” Farrer, 86, died in his residence Saturday, Aug. 23, at 5 a.m.
He is survived by one daughter, Jamie Bonee of Bremen; two sons: Kent and Barbara Farrer of
Wyatt and Randy and Rhea Farrer of Cassopolis, Mich.; six grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren
and three great-great grandchildren.
Services will be Tuesday, Aug. 26, at 11 a.m. at the Bremen cemetery Mausoleum Chapel.
Visitation is one hour prior the service.
Burial will be at Bremen cemetery.
Mishler Funeral Home, Bremen is assisting the family with arrangements.
Johnney L. Chupp
PLYMOUTH — Johnney L. Chupp, 58, of Plymouth, died at 10 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 24, 2008, at
Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center in Plymouth.
He is survived by his son, Eddie A. Han Chupp; his father, Fred and Ruth Chupp of Winamac;
his mother, Mary Bennett; his sister, Susana Hunnictt of Willmar, Minn.; and his brother, Danny
Chupp of Plymouth.
There will be no visitation or funeral services.
The Van Gilder Funeral Home, 300 W. Madison St., Plymouth, is handling the arrangements.
Laurence Hubert Norris
FULTON — Laurence Hubert Norris, 94, of Fulton, died at 4: 45 p.m. Sunday Aug. 24, at Chase
Center in Logansport.
He is survived by his wife, Mary L. Norris, at Woodbridge of Logansport; two daughters: Doris
Ann Goode and her husband Tim of Rochester and Doreen Ehresman and her husband Steve
of Lafayette; one son: David Norris and his wife, Janet of Mishawaka; and four grandchildren.
Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday and one hour prior to services in Good Family Funeral
Home, 1200 W. 18th St., Rochester.
Services are at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Burial will be at Fulton cemetery. Graveside military rites will be conducted by the Marine Corp.,
the LeRoy Shelton American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Memorials may be made to the charity of donor’s choice.
Michael Charles Norris Jr.
Michael Charles Norris Jr., 23, died Sunday, Aug. 24, 2008.
He is survived by his parents, Mike Sr. and Diane R. Norris; son, Michael Charles Norris III;
sister, Natasha Lane Norris; and grandparents, Eugene and Rebecca Peters.
Services will be held Saturday, Sept. 6 from 7 to 10 p.m. in Centennial Park, Plymouth, behind
the tennis courts.
Memorials may be made to the Michael Charles Norris III Trust at any Teachers Credit Union.

Carl R, Dr. Col. Boyd
CULVER — Dr. Col. Carl R. Boyd, 65, of Culver, died Aug. 25, 2008.
He is survived by his wife, Cherylynn Boyd of Culver, children Michael Boyd of Chandler, Ariz.,
James Boyd of Hillsboro, Ore. And sister, Rosemary Avery of Washington.
Visitation is from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 30 at Bonine-Odom Funeral Home, Culver.
Services are at 1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home with the Rev. Ron Lewallen officiating.
Burial will be at Culver Masonic cemetery.
Arrangements are being handled by Bonine-Odom.
Edith M. Hoffer
North Manchester — Edith M. Hoffer, 88, of North Manchester, died Monday, Aug. 25, in
Timbercrest Retirement Community.
She is survived by three brothers, Ralph I. Hartsough of North Liberty, Raymond (Claire)
Hartsough of Plymouth and Royce (Ann) Hartsough of South Bend, and 17 nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 27, in the Palmer Funeral Home, 314
S. Michigan St., Lakeville.
Burial will follow in Fair cemetery, North Liberty.
Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and one hour prior to the services Wednesday in the
funeral home.
Contributions may be made to Timbercrest Retirement Community, North Manchester.
William "Lee" Sheetz
ROCHESTER — William “Lee” Sheetz, 98, of Rochester, died at 4: 15 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug.
26, at Grace Village in Winona Lake.
He is survived by his wife, Dorotha M. Sheetz at home; a step-daughter and step-son, six stepgrandchildren
and 11 step-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be one hour prior to services, which will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Good Family
Funeral Home, 1200 W. 18th St., Rochester, with Rev. Tom Abbitt officiating.
Burial will be at Rochester IOOF cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Warsaw Community Grace Brethren Church or to Grace Village.
Ellis E. Licht
CULVER — Ellis E. Licht, 87, of Culver, died Wednesday, Aug. 27, 2008 at Pilgrim Manor
Nursing Home, Plymouth.
He is survived by nieces: Becky (Richard) Trusty, Elaine (Jim) Schuh, Rita (Larry) Binkley, Ann
Moesely, Jan (Dan) Savage and Vickie (Elmer) Wagner; and nephews: Robert Licht, Richard
(Judy) Lutz and Don (Alice) Lutz.
Visitation is Friday, Aug. 29 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, Plymouth,
and Saturday, Aug. 30 for two hours prior to services at the church. Funeral services are
Saturday, Aug. 30 at 11 a.m. at Wesley United Methodist, 511 School St., Culver. Burial will at
Culver Masonic cemetery.

Katherine “Katie” R. Cherry
PLYMOUTH — Katherine “Katie” R. Cherry, 85, died Thursday, Aug. 28, 2008, at Miller’s Manor
Nursing Home in Plymouth.
She is survived by her daughter, Donna Whiteman of Plymouth; her sisters: Theresa Moore of
Beech Grove, and Betty Cooper of Plainfield; four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at Flanner and Buchanan Funeral Center-Floral Park, in Indianapolis,
Wednesday, Sept. 3 at noon. Visitation was at the funeral center Tuesday, Sept. 2 from 6 to 8
p.m.Burial will be in Floral Park cemetery.

Gloria K. Haynes
WALKERTON — Gloria K. Haynes, 60, of U.S. 6, Walkerton, passed away at 8: 00 a.m. on
Thursday, August 28, 2008, at Indiana University Medical Center in Indianapolis, Indiana.
Gloria was born September 2, 1947, in South Bend, to George and Marjorie (Goodspeed)
Replogle.
Gloria and Michael R. Haynes were married
on April 17, 1965. Michael preceded her in death on
February 13, 1991.
Gloria was employed by the State Highway Department, American Dream Tours, and had been
a secretary for the Recorders office since 1994. She was engaged to Alan Burkholder of
Walkerton.
Gloria is survived by her daughter, April and Chad Whetstone of Columbia City; her son, Marcus
Haynes and his friend Betty Jorgenson of Walkerton; her fiancee, Alan Burkholder of Walkerton;
her brother, Mick and Lavern Replogle of Plymouth; and her grandson, L.G. Whetstone, of
Columbia City.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, September 4, 2008, at 1: 00 p.m., at the Tyner United
Methodist Church, in Tyner, Indiana, with the Rev. Michael Dixon officiating.
Burial will be in Morris cemetery in La Paz, Indiana.
A time of visiting with the family will be on Wednesday, September 3, 2008, from 2: 00 p.m. to
4: 00 p.m. and 6: 00 p.m. to 8: 00 p.m. at the Van Gilder Funeral Home, 300 West Madison Street,
Plymouth, Indiana, 46563.

Herrold J. "Shorty" Henderson
Lake Havasu City, Ariz. — Herrold J. “Shorty” Henderson of Lake Havasu City, Ariz., formerly of
Plymouth, Indiana, passed away on Thursday, August 28, 2008, at the Polidori Hospice House in
Lake Havasu City.
Herrold was born February 8, 1923, to Orville “Pug” and Iris Henderson. On February 13, 1949
Herrold and Nancy L. Bowel were married
. Nancy died January 14, 2001.
While Herrold lived in Plymouth, he worked at Don’s Parlor and the Bear Cat Store. After moving
to Los Angles, he was a zone manager for 13 western states, plus Alaska and Hawaii, with
Whitaker Cable Corporation.He belonged to a Drum and Bugle Corps and marched in many
parades and special events, in Plymouth and the surrounding area. He was a member of a
Marine Corps League, Lake Havasu Detachment.
Herrold is survived by his son, James and Mitzi Henderson; his grandchildren, Dina and Brian;
and his great-grandson, Aidan all of Spokane, Wash.. Also surviving is his sister, Hazel (Bill)
Henderson of Plymouth.
Funeral services have taken place in Lake Havasu City. Van Gilder Funeral Home, 300 W.
Madison St., IN, 46563, is handling the local arrangements.
Marie E. Hatfield
PLYMOUTH — Marie E. Hatfield, 94, a Plymouth resident for all of her life, died at 9: 45 p.m. on
Friday, August 29, 2008, in Miller’s Merry Manor, Plymouth.
The daughter of Ira and Dottie Eaglebarger Berkeypile, Marie was born in Elkhart, Ind., on June
13, 1914. She attended Bourbon schools for the first six years and Plymouth schools for the
remaining six years, graduating with the class of 1933.
On June 29, 1935, in Plymouth, Marie and Russell D. Hatfield were married
. Russell died on
June 13, 1990.
A homemaker, Marie loved to draw and paint with water colors. She enjoyed cooking and was
adept at all kinds of handiwork, both as a student and a teacher: crocheting, knitting, tatting,
doing cross stitch and paper cutting.
She was a member of the Tippecanoe Primitive Baptist Church for 68 years.
Marie is survived by a daughter and four sons. They are: Eileen (John) Burgess, Plymouth:
Lowell Hatfield, Bowling Green, Ky.: Delmar (Karen) Hatfield, Elkhart: Harvey (Karin) Hatfield,
South Bend and Timothy (Deborah) Hatfield, Sun Prairie, Wis.
Nineteen grandchildren and thirty great-grandchildren survive as well.
Marie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Russell, a son, David, in 1958 and
two brothers, Arnold and Clayton Berkeypile.
Friends and family are invited to celebrate the life of Marie Hatfield at the Johnson-Danielson
Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan St., Plymouth, from 4 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, September 2,
2008 and Wednesday, September 3, 2008, for one hour prior to the services at the Church.
Funeral services for Marie will be held on Wednesday, September 3, 2008, at 10: 00 a.m., in the
Tippecanoe Primitive Baptist Church at the corner of Gumwood and 10th Rd. Elder Tom Sarber
will officiate.
Burial will be in New Oakhill cemetery, Plymouth, with a luncheon following at the Church.
Memorial contributions in Marie’s memory may be made to the Lion’s Eye Bank, the Center for
Hospice and Palliative Care or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
Jeffrey "Jeff", Sr. VanBlaricom
PLYMOUTH — Jeffrey “Jeff” Van Blaricom, Sr., 13724 4th Road, Plymouth, died at 6: 25 a.m. in
Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center, Plymouth, on Friday, August 29, 2008.
Jeff died following a courageous battle against cancer. He was 48 years old.
Born in Plymouth on April 27, 1960, Jeff was the son of Raymond P. Van Blaricom and Dora
Ann (Dixon) VanBlaricom.
He graduated from LaVille High School with the class of 1978.
On May 28, 1978, in Walkerton, he and Lorrene Haines were married
.
Jeff owned and operated a boat manufacturing company in Bradenton, Fla. He moved back to
Indiana in August of 2007.
He enjoyed Tony Stewart and NASCAR racing, doing yard work and taking care of his
grandbabies. He loved riding his Harley Davidson, playing poker and sitting with friends and
family around bon fires.
Jeff is survived by his wife, Lorrene and by their three sons: Jeffrey Van Blaricom, Jr., Plymouth;
Chad William Van Blaricom, Westville, and Raymond Earl Van Blaricom, Plymouth.
His parents, Raymond P. and Dora Ann VanBlaricom, both of Plymouth, sister, Pamela (Kevin)
Fleck, LaPaz, and two brothers: Donald Vernon (Patty) Van Blaricom, Plymouth and Raymond
Paul Van Blaricom, survive as well.
Jeff’s grandmother, Esther VanBlaricom, of Plymouth, also survives along with Doris Haines, his
mother-in-law.
Two-sisters-in-law, Doreen (Bill) Wallace and Sidney (Terry) Anders, all of Plymouth, survive.
The lights of his life, his two grandsons, Jordan Kyle and Nicolas Allen VanBlaricom, also will
miss him terribly.
Friends are invited to share their memories with his families on Wednesday, September, 3,
2008, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan St.,
Plymouth.
Funeral services for Jeff will be held following visitation at 1 p.m. in the funeral home. Tom
Padberg., of The Center for Hospice and Palliative Care, Inc., will officiate.
Burial will be in New Oakhill cemetery, Plymouth.
