Memorial Hospital, Knox.
He is survived by his wife, Charlotte Cox of Laconia, N.H., daughters: Lauren Andrea (Benjamin)
Cox Escoto of Mexico City, Mexico and Allison Elizabeth (Scott) Cox Snyder of Concord, N.H.,
his mother, Ruth Chittick Cox of Plymouth, sister: Anne and Fred Benner of Plymouth and
brother: Robert W. Cox of Columbia, S.C.
A memorial service will be held Friday, Aug. 15 at 1 p.m. at the First United Church of Christ,
400 N. Michigan St., Plymouth.

Homer D., Pastor Miller
NAPPANEE — Pastor Homer D. Miller, 83, of Nappanee died Wednesday, Aug. 13, 2008 at 2 a.m.
He is survived by his wife, LInda Miller; son, Lyle (Ada) Miller of Nappanee; daughters, Katie
(Glen) Bontrager of Wakarusa, Ina (Dale) Slabaugh of Nappanee, Sara (Joni) Schrock of
Madison and Maria (Vernon) Bacher of West Minster, S.C.; 19 grandchildren; 30 great
grandchildren; and sister, Esther Mullett of Wakarusa.
Visitation is Thursday, Aug. 14 and Friday, Aug. 15 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Bethel
Conservative Mennonite Church and one hour prior to services. Funeral services are Saturday,
Aug. 16 at 10 a.m. at the church.
Burial will be at the Bethel Conservative Mennonite Church cemetery.
Memorials may be made to United Christian Missions, Belize, Central America.

Doris F. Pranger
PLYMOUTH — Doris F. Pranger, 60, of 12252 West County Line Rd., Plymouth, passed away
Friday, Aug. 15, 2008, at 11: 11 a.m. at Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center, Plymouth.
She was born on Sept. 28, 1947, in Plymouth, to Raymond and Beatrice (Henry) Davenport.
Doris married
Robert D. Pranger. They were married
for 44 years. Robert passed away on June
8, 2008. Together they raised their three children.
Doris is survived by her sons: Robert, Jr. (Pat) Pranger and Richard (Lisa) Pranger, both of
Plymouth; her daughter, Renee Bunger Pranger of Plymouth; eight grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren;
three great-grandchildren; her brother, Donald (Sandy) Davenport of Plymouth;
her sister, Dorothy (Dave) England of Plymouth; her sisters-in-law, Lorraine Davenport of
Tippecanoe, and Pearl White of Culver.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Pranger Sr.; her parents, Raymond and
Beatrice Davenport; her brother, Richard Davenport; her granddaughter, Cari Pranger; and her
father and mother-in-law, George and Goldie Pranger.
The VAN GILDER FUNERAL HOME, 300 West Madison St., Plymouth, has been entrusted with
the arrangements. There will be no visitation. Graveside services will be held on Friday, Aug.
22 at 10 a.m., in New Oak Hill cemetery, Plymouth with Chaplain Tom Padberg officiating.
Rebecca "Susie" Schoof
PLYMOUTH — Rebecca “Susie” Schoof, 56, passed away at 7: 40 p.m. Friday, Aug. 15, 2008
after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Susie was born in Chillicothe, Ohio on Dec.14,
1951 to Gerald A. and Marleah F. Johnson whom survive. She graduated from Waverly High
School located in Waverly, Ohio with the class of 1969. Susie moved to Indiana in 1973. In 1975
at a friend’s wedding, she met her husband Tom. They later married
on Sept. 23, 1978.
Susie was a very kind and loving person. She loved to spend time with friends and family and
was most proud to be called Nana by her grandson Jared whom she loved with all of her heart.
Susie started work at the Corl Corporation in 1978, the company evolved into Bremen Glas and
finally Maax Midwest where she worked until the spring of 2008. She worked in the purchasing
department. She had many friends at work that she had adopted as family.
She was best known for her wonderful sense of humor; even in adversity she could find humor.
During football season you would find her and Tom camped out in front of the television cheering
on their favorite teams. She will be missed by everyone that knew and loved her.
Susie is survived by her husband, Tom; son, David (Jennifer) Schoof; grandson, Jared; parents,
Marleah and Gerald Johnson; sisters: Shelley (John) Hopkins, Sherry Stires (Tim Estep) and
Kathy Baer; brother, Rod (Danielle) Johnson; mother-in-law, Violet Schoof; brother-in-law, Craig
(Diana) Schoof; nieces and nephews: Mike (Bekah), Amanda and Tara Stires, Shawn,
Christopher and Stephen Johnson, Jeremiah Cutright, Kyle and Krista Schoof; great niece
Brelyn Stires and great nephews Chandler and Alexander Stires.
She was preceded in death by three brothers: Gerald Lloyd Johnson, Harold James and Larry
Eugene Cutright. A niece, Michelle Hopkins which she loved dearly. Richard Lee Schoof, her
father-in-law, also preceded her in death.
Friends are invited to join the family to celebrate the life of Susie Schoof on Tuesday, Aug. 19,
2008 from 4 to 8 p.m. (and after 7 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 20) at the Johnson-Danielson
Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan St., Plymouth.
Funeral services for Susie will be held in the funeral home on Wednesday, Aug. 20, 2008 at 11
a.m. The Rev. Oliver Dongell, pastor of Plymouth Wesleyan Church will officiate.
Burial will follow services in the New Oakhill cemetery.
Memorial gifts in Susie’s memory may be made to the American Cancer Society.

GOSHEN — Gregg F. Rogers, 50, of Goshen, died Saturday, Aug. 16 at 2: 35 a.m. in his home.
He is survived by his mother, Barbara Rogers of Goshen; step-daughter, Jodi (Rick) Perry of
Bristol; two step-grandsons; sister; Tina (Steve) Yoder of Goshen; and a brother, Brad (Cindy)
Rogers of Goshen.
There will be no services or formal visitation.
The family will celebrate Gregg’s life with an open house from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 24 in
their home at 60471 County Road 21 in Goshen.

WALKERTON — Shirley J. Shaw, 79, of Miller’s Merry Manor, Walkerton died Saturday, Aug.
16, 2008 in the nursing home. There are no survivors.

Lake Chapel. Visitation is Tuesday at 10 a.m. EDT until the time of services.
Robert Dielman
ELBERTON, Ga. — Robert Dielman, 69, of Elberton, Ga., formerly of Macy and the Fulton
County community, died at 11: 11 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 17, 2008 at home.
He is survived by his wife, Carol E. Dielman of Elberton, Ga.; daughters: Deborah K. (Stephen)
Dye of Brook, Charith E. (Joseph) Zickmund of Elberton, Ga. and Bethany D. (Donald) Spano of
Edgewater, Fla.; son, Daniel L. (Toni) Dielman of Grand Rapids, Mich.; 13 grandchildren; one
great-granddaughter; brother, Donald (Ann) Dielman of Rochester; sisters-in-law, Charlotte
(Bud) Overfield of Kokomo and Sonia (O.T.) Fillyaw of Live Oak, Fla.; and brother-in-law, Gary
(Avanell) Smith of Akron.
Visitation is Friday, Aug. 22 from 4 to 8 p.m. in the Good Family Funeral Home, Rochester.
Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 23 at the Plainview cemetery, Macy.
Marjorie A. Baker
CHESTERTON — Marjorie A. Baker, 89, of Chesterton, passed away on Monday, Aug. 18,
2008 in Valparaiso. She was born on July 11, 1919 in Hobart to the late Roscoe and Dora
(Zumbaugh) Sarber. She was married
on Aug. 20, 1937 in Plymouth to Alvin LeRoy Baker, who
preceded her in death in 1985.
Marjorie is survived by her son, Barry L. Baker of Park Forest, Ill.; daughter, Mona (Kevin) Case
of Chesterton; sister, Burl Flagg of Plymouth; and grandchildren: Amanda Baker of Wanatah and
Matthew Case of Chesterton.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Charles Sarber, and sister, Violet Ludwig.
Marjorie was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Chesterton, where she was
involved in the Mary Rachel Circle. She worked for John Meck Television in Culver from 1945 to
1957 and was a former Den Mother for her son’s Cub Scout Troop. Marjorie was also a
volunteer Parent-Teacher Aide for the Duneland School and participated in a fundraiser for
cancer research and muscular dystrophy.
Funeral services will be held Friday, Aug. 22, 2008 at 10 a.m. at Edmonds & Evans Funeral
Home, 517 Broadway, Chesterton with Pastor Cathy Allison officiating. Burial will follow at
Chesterton cemetery, Chesterton. Visitation will be held Thursday, Aug. 21, 2008 from 2 to 4
p.m. and 6 o 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Phyllis Jean Molnar
PLYMOUTH — Phyllis Jean Molnar, 80, of Plymouth, passed away at 8: 47 a.m. Monday, Aug.
18, 2008 in the Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center, Plymouth. She was born on Nov. 14,
1927 in LaPaz, to John C. and Edith Lucille (Wingett) Swartz. On Jan. 13, 1951 in LaPaz, she
married
Stephen Molnar, who preceded her in death on March 26, 2007.
Mrs. Molnar is survived by her sister and brother in law, Joan and Tom Cashen of Plymouth, and
many nieces and nephews. Her brother, John C. Swartz preceded her in death.
Mrs. Molnar was a lifelong area resident. She was an executive secretary for Indiana &
Michigan Electric Company retiring in 1989 after 41 years of service.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 22, 2008 in the Palmer Funeral Home, 314
S. Michigan St. Lakeville. Burial will follow in Southlawn cemetery, South Bend. Friends may
visit with the family from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 21, 2008 in the funeral home.

LAKEVILLE — Raymond Neirynck, 95, of Lakeville, died Monday, Aug. 18, 2008 in his home.
He is survived by his wife, Norma (Higginbotham) Neirynck; daughter, Sharon Wallace of LaPaz;
son, Ronald (Sandra) Neirynck of Walkerton; stepdaughter, Betty L. (Don) Cornelius of Niles,
Mich.; stepsons: Charles H. (Renee`) Kaufman Jr. of South Bend and Gerald (Diane) Kaufman
of Lakeville; three grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; six step-grandchildren and 10 step
great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 21, 2008 in the Palmer Funeral HomeLakeville.
Burial will follow in Mount Calvary cemetery, South Bend. Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m.

Kraus of Nappanee; stepsister, Jill (Ben) Pardue of Terre Haute; and stepbrother, Jack (Pauline)

DOWNERS GROVE, Ill. — Sandra Lampert Garside, 70, of Downers Grove, Ill. died Wednesday, Aug. 20.
Funeral services will take place Tuesday, Aug. 26 at 1 p.m. with visitation one hour prior at the
M.C. Smith Funeral Home.
Burial will follow at Culver Masonic cemetery.
Richard E. "Dick" Robison
ROCHESTER — Richard E. “Dick” Robison, 64, of Rochester, died at 6: 10 p.m. Wednesday,
Aug. 20, 2008 at St. Elizabeth Medical Center, Lafayette.
He is survived by his wife, Marsha D. Robison; son, Rex (Kristina) Robison of Rochester; two
granddaughters; and mother-in-law, Marjorie Miller of Rochester.
Visitation is Sunday, Aug. 24 from 3 to 7 p.m. and one hour prior to services Monday at the
Good Family Funeral Home, Rochester. Funeral services are Monday, Aug. 25 at 10 a.m. at the
funeral home. Burial will be at the Rochester IOOF cemetery. Military graveside rites will be
conducted by the LeRoy Shelton American Legion #36 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars #1343.

Eva H. Gongwer
WAKARUSA — Eva H. Gongwer, 90, of Wakarusa, died Friday, Aug. 22 in Wakarusa.
She is survived by a son, Dean (Jeanne) Gongwer of Wakarusa; a daughter, Janet (Lynn) Hahn
of Mishawaka; seven grandchildren: Cindy (Tom Dawson, Trent (Bobbi) Gongwer, Randy
(Tiffany) Holdeman, Troy (Elissa) Gongwer, Lisa Reddington, Todd (Traci) Gongwer and Tad
(Corina) Gongwer and 18 great-grandchildren.
Visitation took place Sunday, Aug. 24 from 5 to 8 p.m. and will be Monday, Aug. 25 from 2 to 8
p.m. at the Nappanee Missionary Church.
Funeral services will take place at the church Tuesday, Aug. 26 at 10 a.m. with burial to follow at
Olive (west) cemetery.

Bennie "Ben" Murphy
NAPPANEE — Bennie "Ben" Murphy, 80, of Nappanee, died Friday, Aug. 22 at 8: 45 p.m. at
Miller's Merry Manor, Syracuse after battling two types of cancer.
Murphy is survived by his wife of 53 years, Betty (Mishler); two sons: Mike Murphy of Nappanee
and Tim Murphy of Atwood and eight grandchildren.
Visitation will take place Wednesday, Aug. 27 from 1 to 3 p.m. at Thompson-Lengacher & Yoder
Funeral Home, 950 N. Main St., Nappanee. Funeral services will take place Wednesday at 3
p.m. with military graveside services following at Bremen cemetery.
