Gail Lynn King
NORTH JUDSON — Gail Lynn King, 61, of North Judson, died Friday, July 18, 2008.
She is survived by her husband, Tom King; four daughters: Jamie Wilson of North Judson, Emily
Nowatzke of Chicago, Dawn Pike-Wilson of North Judson and Tanya Rigging of Tenn.; a
brother, Ronnie Ebeling and a sister, Janice Ebeling, both of LaPorte.
Services are pending at Braman & Son Memorial Chapel, Knox.
Thomas Henry Clary
PLYMOUTH — Thomas Henry Clary, 80, formerly of North Judson, died July 19, 2008 at Miller's
Merry Manor, Plymouth.
Clary is survived by his wife, Ethel Clary; a daughter, Vicky (Doug) Thomas of North Judson; two
sons: Robert (Danna) Clary of Knox and David (Dawn) Clary of North Judson; 10 grandchildren
and nine great-grandchildren and a brother, James Clary of Londonderry, Ohio.
Visitation will take place Tuesday, July 22 at 10 a.m. at O'Donnell Funeral Home Inc. North Judson.
Funeral services will take place Tuesday at 1 p.m. at the funeral home with burial to follow at
Round Lake cemetery, Knox.
James Tilden Maze
RIVERSIDE, Calif. — James Tilden Maze, 71, of Riverside, Calif., died July 19, 2008 in Riverside.
He is survived by his wife, Joyce Maze; daughter, Tamara (Robert) Willis of Utah; son, James A.
(Diana) Maze of Riverside, Calif.; sisters: Patricia Sisk and Bonita Dickson, both of Indiana; and
six grandchildren.
A memorial service was held July 24 at 4 p.m. at Acheson & Graham Mortuary, Riverside, Calif.
Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
Richard “Paul”, Ph.D. Murrmann
Richard “Paul” Murrmann, Ph.D was born in South Bend Aug. 3, 1940. He passed away at the
UVA Medical Center, Charlottesville, Va. Saturday, July 19, 2008, following a long illness.
Murmann graduated from LaPaz High School in LaPaz in 1958. He went on to Purdue University
to receive a B.S. in Agriculture. He was also commissioned a 2nd Lieutenant in the U.S. Army
though the Purdue ROTC program. Next he attended Cornell University where he earned the
M.S. and Ph.D Degrees in Agricultural Chemistry. He subsequently served in the Army and was
honorably discharged as a Captain in 1968. Murrmann was then employed as a research
chemist by the Army Corps of Engineers Research Laboratory in Hanover, N.H. He and the
research team he lead investigated numerous problems related to environmental issues and
topics of military interest. In 1974, he was employed as a research manager by the USDA’s
Agricultural Research Service (ARS) where he spent the remainder of his career. He had
several assignments in offices located in MS, CA, TX, and in Beckley, W. Va., where he retired
in 1995 as Director of the USDA Appalachian Soil and Water Conservation Research Laboratory
During his career he was a member of the American Society of Agronomy, the Soil Science
Society of America, and Sigma Xi. He was a member of the Beckley Rotary Club until after his
retirement. He was a Member of Post 32 of the American League. He remained an active
member of NARFE, the National Active and Retired Federal Employees Association.
Murrmann was preceded by his step-father, Burnas “B.B.” Murmann, his maternal grandparents,
Vernon and Edith Bachtel, his father, Richard Kuehn and his paternal grandmother, Maude
Kuehn, all of South Bend. Paul lost his son, Robert E. Murrmann of Walnut Creek, Calif., to
cancer in 1997.
Murrmann is survived by his best friend and wife, Judy Elkins Murrmann, of Beckley, WV; his
mother, Virginia Miller of Mesa, Ariz.; his daughter Nancy Heller and husband Leonard, and
Paul’s two grandchildren, Joe and Katie of Danville, Calif. His very special step-daughter,
Wendy Kaczenski and husband Michael and Paul’s two grandsons, Shawn and Seth of Bristol,
Conn. He is also survived by one stepson, Bernie Wheeler of Virginia Beach, Va. and another
step daughter, Shawn Wheeler of Vero Beach, Fla. His brothers and sisters are Kent Murrmann
and wife Sue of Blacksburg, Va., George Murrmann and wife Margaret in Indianapolis, Don
Murrmann and wife Marilyn of Kerrville, Texas, Kathy Swanson and husband Bob of Mesa, Ariz.
and JoEllen DePaepe and husband Bob of South Bend. He is also survived by his favorite sister-in-law,
Connie Baisden of Neibert, W. Va.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects at Blue Ridge Funeral Home Tuesday, July
22 in Beckley, W. Va. from 6: 30 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday,
July 23 with Pastor Donnie Wells officiating. A military interment at Sunset Memorial Park will be
held immediately following the funeral.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the National Cancer Society in the
name of Paul’s son Robert Edward Murrmann.

Louis R. Heyde
PLYMOUTH – Louis R. Heyde, 78, formerly of 14474 Lincoln Hwy., Plymouth, died of natural
causes on Sunday, July 20, 2008, in Miller’s Merry Manor, Plymouth.
Louis was born on Nov. 9, 1929, the son of George Ray and Mildred A. Martin Heyde.
He graduated from LaPaz High School with the class of 1947. As a yeoman seaman, he served
in the United States Navy during the Korean War.
In August of 1968, in Plymouth, Louis and JoAnne Mitchell were married
. Joanne died in 1975.
Louis worked as a machinist for the Bendix Corp. in South Bend for 35 years, retiring in 1982.
He moved to Hacienda Hts., Calif., returning to Plymouth in 2003.
He was a member of the Hope Chapel, South Bend, and attended services at the North Salem
Church of God in Plymouth.
Louis is survived by a daughter, Sharon L. Brady of Salisbury, Md., and by two sisters: Marjorie
A. DeMien and Mary Lou (Walter) DeMien, both of Plymouth.
Two grandsons, Chris and Bradley Brady of Salisbury, Md., also survive together with two great-granddaughters
of Salisbury: Morgan and Natalie Brady.
Seven nephews and three nieces survive as well. They are Eugene (Penny) DeMien, Jim
(Virginia) DeMien, Glen (Linda) DeMien, all of Plymouth, Chris DeMien of Nappanee, Stephen
(Anna) DeMien of Texas, Jimmy (Theresa) De Mien of Monticello, Derrick Heyde of Mentone,
Lori and Tom Laughtner of Massachusetts, Heidi and Eric Kolberg of Mentone and Shirley (Tim) Pearson.
Seven great-nieces also survive. They are: Geannie (Jeremy) Arnett of South Bend, Nicole Hiatt
of Plymouth, Erin (Andy) Hartley of Plymouth and Krista (Richard) Webb of Elkhart and Angela,
Amy and Andrea DeMien of Texas.
Louis was preceded in death by his parents, his wife and his son, Michael R. DeMien.
Friends will be welcomed to share memories of Louis by his family from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m on
Thursday, July 24, 2008, at the Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan St., Plymouth.
Funeral services for Louis will follow visitation at 2 p.m. The Rev. Darrell Cardwell, pastor of the
North Salem Church of God, Plymouth, will officiate.
Burial will be in the New Oakhill cemetery.
Memorials in Louis’ memory may be made to the North Salem Church of God.
Loretta Ludvigson
KNOX — Loretta Ludvigson, 71, of Knox, died Sunday, July 20, 2008 at LaPorte Hospital.
She is survived by sons: Jeff (Joan) Ludvigson of Knox and Bob (Mary) Ludvigson of LaPorte; a
daughter, Gloria (Steve) Hale of West Harrison, Ind.; brothers: Frankie Delli of Nickolas, Ky. and
Harold Beasley of Phoenix, Ariz. and a sister, Deborah Schrader of Athens, Ala.
Visitation will take place Thursday, July 24 from 12 to 2 p.m. at Braman & Son Memorial Chapel, Knox.
Funeral services, led by Ed Hasnerl, will take place at 2 p.m. Thursday at the funeral chapel with
burial to follow at Round Lake cemetery.
Betty Godfrey
WALKERTON — Betty Godfrey, 80, died Monday, July 21, 2008 in LaPorte Hospital.
She is survived by many friends.
Funeral services will be Saturday, July 26 at 11 a.m. CDT at Rannells Funeral Home, Hamlet
Chapel. Burial will be in the Woodlawn cemetery, Walkerton. Visitation is Friday, July 25 from 5
to 7 p.m. CDT and Saturday after 10 a.m. at the funeral home.
John Richard “Dick” Klapp
WARSAW — John Richard “Dick” Klapp, 81, of Warsaw, died Monday, July 21, 2008 at 12: 45
p.m. at Warsaw Meadows Care Center.
He is survived by a daughter, Janice (Rich) Helmuth of St. Petersburg, Fla.; son, John Klapp Jr.
of St. Petersburg, Fla.; stepdaughters: Judy (Harold) Farver of Plymouth and Tina (Steve)
Phipps of Warsaw; stepson, Rex (Linda) McCraner of Kendallville; brother, Bob Klapp of Mobile,
Ala.; and brother-in-law, Rev. Paul Cecrele of Rochester.
Burial will be at a later date.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
The Earl-Grossman Funeral Home, Argos, is in charge of the arrangements.
Andy R. Louk
CULVER — Andy R. Louk, 43, of Culver, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday evening July 22, 2008.
Andy was born Dec. 28, 1964 in South Bend to Helen (Coldwater) and Russell J. Louk. The
family relocated to Culver in 1972. He was a graduate of Culver Community Jr/Sr High School in
1983. Later he received his Accounting Degree from Ivy Tech in South Bend. He was married
to
Donna Lee Smith on Oct. 8, 1988. They later divorced.
He was a member of Santa Anna United Methodist Church, Argos, where he served as Superintendent.
Andy was preceded in death by his father, Russell H. Louk in Dec 2000. He is survived by his
mother, two brothers: Robert Louk of Ober and Scott Louk of Rochester; and his fiancé Julie Spano.
Andy was an avid Pittsburg Steelers fan. He loved to drive and show off his 1979 Chrysler
Cordoba which he had restored. He enjoyed fishing, playing euchre and cribbage with his family
and friends, and loved his "kitty bear." Even in death Andy gave to others by being an organ
donor, helping 75 other people.
A time of sharing memories with the family will be held on Saturday, July 26, 2008 from 10 a.m.
to 1 p.m. EDT at the Bonine-Odom Funeral Home, Culver. Rev. Henry Sprunger will officiate
services at 1 p.m. Interment will follow at the Culver Masonic cemetery.
Memorial contributions in memory of Andy R. Louk may be made to the Santa Anna United
Methodist Church, Argos.

Marvis Ann Morgan
ARGOS — Marvis Ann Morgan, 63, of 18470 Maple Rd., Argos, died Tuesday, July 22, 2008 at
2: 40 a.m. at her daughter’s residence in LaGrange following a two-year illness. She was born
March 11, 1945 in Rochester to Berne O. and Mildred A. (Mathias) Jones. On Sept. 19, 1987 in
Argos, she married
James “Jim” Richard Morgan at the Jordan Baptist Church.
She lived in the Argos community for 40 years. She was a seamstress at Hart, Schaffner & Marx
in Rochester for more than 22 years and Braun Seating in Leiters Ford. She was a graduate of
North Miami High School with the Class of 1963 and graduated in 2003 from Ivy Tech with
honors. She was a member of the Jordan Baptist Church in Argos and the Swinging Dudes
Square Dance Club in Rochester. She also belonged to the Order of the Eastern Star Lodge
#124 Rochester. She was a Master Gardener, loved her family, knitting, cross stitching,
crocheting and camping.
She is survived by her husband, Jim Morgan of Argos; daughter, Dawn (Dan) Byler of LaGrange;
sons: Dave (Julie) Crum of Plymouth and Duane (Laura) Crum of Holmdel, N.J.;
stepdaughters: Hope (Virgil) Herring of Grovertown, Kelly (Paul) Antoine of Bryan, Ohio,
Gretchen (John) Worley of LaPorte, and Bridgett Koz of Argos; stepson, Mark Morgan of
Plymouth; 28 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; mother, Mildred Jones of Plymouth; and
brothers: Berne (Holly) Jones of Kooskia, Idaho, Glen (Chris) Jones of Rochester, Dale (Sherry)
Jones of Oxford, and Carl “Pete” (Ladeana) Jones of Peru.
She was preceded in death by her father, Berne Jones and an infant daughter, Deanna Sue Crum.
Friends may visit with the family Thursday, July 24, 2008 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Earl-Grossman
Funeral Home, 208 N. Michigan St., Argos.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, July 25, 2008 at the Jordan Baptist Church 11447 19th Rd.,
Argos, with Rev. Thomas Tupps officiating.
Burial will be at the Jordan Baptist cemetery, Argos.

Georgene Wisler
WAKARUSA — Georgene Wisler, 65, of Wakarusa, died Tuesday, July 22, 2008, at her home.
She is survived by her husband, Leroy Wisler of Wakarusa; sons: Daryl Wisler of Joliet, Ill., Glen
(Kelly) Wisler of Wyatt, and Randy (Brittany) Wisler of Mishawaka; daughters: Gina (Mark
Schultz) Gaines of Plymouth and Deanna (Bryan) Forbes of Bremen; brother, Jim (Jo) Cortier of
Florida; sisters: Bev (Bruce) McMillen of South Bend and Jan (Dave) Akin of South Bend; and 12
grandchildren.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 26 at St. Dominic Catholic Church in Bremen.
Burial will take place at the Bremen cemetery. Visitation is from 2 to 8 p.m. Friday, July 25 at the
Mishler Funeral Home in Bremen. A Rosary Service will begin at 7: 30 p.m. Friday.
