Stuart L. Jackson
SOUTH BEND — Stuart L. Jackson, 81, residing in South Bend, Ind., passed away at 12: 40
p.m. Thursday, May 29, 2008 in St. Joseph Regional Medical Center, South Bend.
He was born May 14, 1927 in Royalton, Ky. to William & Anna (Howard) Jackson who have both
preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by two sons, Stuart (Randy) Jackson on
April 3, 1999 and William Scott Jackson on January 31, 2004, along with three sisters, and four brothers.
On May 14, 1946 in Dayton, Ohio he married
the former Margaret Robinette. Together, they
have enjoyed sixty-two years of marriage. He is survived by his loving wife Margaret; his
daughter, Ginger Bryan of Ossian, Ind.; 10 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren and two greatgreat-grandchildren.
Also surviving Stuart is his brother, Howard and Viola Jackson of
Walkerton, Ind., and many nieces and nephews.
Stuart worked for A.M. General for 29 years in Quality Control and as a Union Officer and Past
President of Local # 5. He played Bluegrass Music. He really loved his music and performed in
concerts in Indiana, Michigan, Ohio, Kentucky, and Tennessee, playing the guitar and singing
tenor. He and son Scott had their own band.
He even performed in a private gathering for President Jimmy Carter while he was visiting in
South Bend. His family and friends will miss him always. He was a member of Grace United
Methodist Church in South Bend.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday, June 2, at Grace United Methodist Church, 3012 S.
Twyckenham Drive, South Bend. Rev. David Schrader will officiate. Graveside services and
burial will follow at Southlawn cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, June 1, at the Palmer Funeral
Home-Guisinger Chapel, 3718 South Michigan Street, South Bend, and one hour prior to
services Monday at the Church.
Contributions in memory of Mr. Jackson may be offered to Bashor Children’s Home, P. O. Box
843, Goshen, IN 46527-0843.
Stella Mae Stoneburner
BREMEN — Stella Mae Stoneburner, 86, of Bremen passed away Thursday, May 29, 2008 at
the Bremen Health Care Center. She was born on Nov. 16, 1921 in Culver to Harry Thomas and
Nezzie Goldie (Fall) Swartz Haag. She married
Rollo Merrill Stoneburner on March 29, 1946. He
preceded her in death on Aug.18, 1965.
Stella was a 1940 graduate of Tyner High School. A homemaker, she was retired from Meister’s
Drug. She enjoyed Bunco, gardening, crafts and her family.
Survivors include two daughters: Babette (J. Kirby) Overman of Occoquan, Va. and Barbara
(Richard) Van Duyne of Rochester; one son, Jay (Traci) Stoneburner of Bremen; and four
grandchildren: Amy Van Duyne of Ashland, Ohio, Tony (Jillian) Van Duyne of Ashland, Ohio, Jay
Kirby Overman of Occoquan, Va. and Jaymi Stoneburner of Bremen.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband Rollo.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 31 at the Mishler Funeral Home in Bremen and
will be officiated by Pastor Tom Hostetler. Burial will take place at the Tyner cemetery.
Friends may call from 11 a.m. until time of service on Saturday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the German Township 4-H Club.
The Mishler Funeral Home in Bremen is assisting the family with arrangements.
June E. (Bales) Binkley
KNOX — June E. (Bales) Binkley, 82, of Knox, died Friday, May 30, 2008 at her home.
Survivors include three sons: Richard (June) Binkley Jr. of Knox, Douglas (Sherry) Binkley of
South Bend and Donald Binkley of Knox; a daughter, Sharon (Randy) Denny of Knox, a sister
Mary Arndt of Mt. Morris, Ill.
Visitation took place Sunday, June 1 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Braman and Son Memorial Chapel.
Funeral services took place Monday, June 2 at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Steve Cunningham officiating.
Burial followed at Crown Hill cemetery, Knox.
Addison Kris Cummings
PLYMOUTH — Addison Kris Cummings, infant daughter of Ryan and Monica (Pontius)
Cummings of South Bend, died at birth at 8: 32 a.m. Friday, May 30, 2008, in Saint Joseph
Regional Medical Center, Plymouth.
Addison is survived by her parents; her maternal grandparents, Allen and Donna Pontius of
Plymouth; her paternal grandparents, Steve and Dianna Cummings of Greenfield; her maternal
great-grandfather and step great-grandmother, Paul and June Pontius of Florida, her paternal
great-grandparents, Harold and Rosa Cummings of Chatham, N.Y. and Jo Ann Abel of
Indianapolis. She is also survived by two aunts: Christa Cummings of Greenfield, and Courtney
and Brian Eddy of Indianapolis.
Private family services were held.
Susana Braganza DeJesus
PLYMOUTH – Susana Braganza DeJesus died of natural causes at 6: 51 p.m. in Plymouth, Friday, May 30, 2008.
Born in Detroit, Mich., on August 13, 1959, Susana was the daughter Dr. Jose R. DeJesus, M.D. and Teofila Braganza DeJesus.
She graduated from Plymouth High School with the class of 1977 and attended Indiana University, Bloomington.
She was a member of St. Michael’s Roman Catholic Church. She was in the choir. She loved singing and drama and was an accomplished piano player at a very young age.
She loved flowers and angels, and was very creative, was skilled in crafts.
Susana was a very kind and loving soul and was great with children.
Her mother, Teofila, Plymouth, and three sisters survive Susana’s death. They are Liza B. DeJesus, Chicago, Ill.: Mary Jane D. (Gerard) Russell, Park Ridge, Ill., and Consolacion B. DeJesus, Los Angeles, Calif.
Two nieces, Kathleen and Isabella Russell and a nephew, Joseph Russell, Park Ridge, Ill., also survive.
Family funeral services and burial rites were held privately.
Burial was in New Oakhill cemetery.
The Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home assisted the family.
Carolyn Hall
ROCHESTER — Carolyn Hall, 52, of Rochester, died at 10: 35 p.m. Friday, May 30, 2008 at Indiana University Hospital, Indianapolis.
She is survived by her husband, Ron Hall of Rochester; sons: Ralph King and companion Christian of Portsmith, Ohio, Stephen King of Radcliff, Ky., Joey Culley of Rochester, Joshua (Stephanie) Hall of Roann and Brandon Hall of Elkhart; nine grandchildren; sister, Debbie Skaggs of Graceland, Ky.; brothers: Albert “Peachy” Conley of Rochester, Ed Conley of Graceland, Ky. and Joe (Kathy) Conley of Owensboro, Ky.
Visitation is Tuesday, June 3 from 5 to 8 p.m. and Wednesday one hour prior the service at the Good Family Funeral Home, Rochester. Funeral services are Wednesday, June 4 at the funeral home. Burial will be at Roann Community cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Jon H. King
PLYMOUTH — Jon H. King, 58, of Plymouth, died Friday, May 30 at St. Joseph Regional
Medical Center, South Bend, of Leukemia.
He is survived by his wife, Linda; a son, Mickey King; a granddaughter, Leslie King; a great-granddaughter,
Kendall Torones; a mother-in-law, Norma Ross; brother-in-law Gary (Sharon)
Ross of Plymouth; four nephews and two nieces.
Visitation will take place Tuesday, June 3 from 10 a.m. to noon at the Johnson-Danielson
Funeral Home, Plymouth.
Funeral services will take place at noon Tuesday with burial to follow at Oakhill cemetery.
Joan D. Stokes
WALKERTON — Joan D. Stokes, 77, died Friday, May 30 at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center, Plymouth.
Surviving are two sons: Danny (Noni) Stokes of Mobile, Ala. and Glen (Melissa) Stokes of
Walkerton and a daughter, Carolyn Stokes of Warsaw.
Visitation will take place Tuesday, June 3 from 2 p.m. until the time of funeral services at 3 p.m.
at the Rannells Funeral Home, Koontz Lake Chapel.
Burial will follow at the Polk Township cemetery, Walkerton.
Joseph "Lee" Bailey
PLYMOUTH — Joseph “Lee” Bailey, 27, of Plymouth, died Saturday, May 31 at his home.
He is survived by a daughter, Sky Bailey Robinson; mother and stepfather Nancy and Kurt
McMillem of Plymouth; four sisters: Janelle M. Pardee of Plymouth, Jennifer B. McMillen of
South Bend, Heather S. McMillen of Plymouth and Holly A. Starkey of Logansport; a brother,
Jesse R. Bailey of Plymouth and a grandmother, JoAnn Abair of Plymouth.
Visitation will take place on Wednesday, June 4 from noon to 2 p.m. at Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, Plymouth.
Funeral services will take place at the funeral home Wednesday at 2 p.m. with burial to follow.
Memorial contributions may be made to the family.
Florian P. Falk
KOONTZ LAKE — Florian P. Falk, 85, of St. Charles, Ill., formerly of Koontz Lake, died
Saturday, May 31 in Rosewood Care Center, St. Charles, Ill.
He is survived by three daughters: Patricia Federowski of Mississippi, Barbara Kingman of
Illinois and Laura Amato of Lemont, Ill.; a son, Terry Falk of St. Charles, Ill.; 11 grandchildren
and 12 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will take place Wednesday, June 4 from 10 a.m. until the time of funeral services at 1
p.m. (CST) at Rannells Funeral Home, Koontz Lake Chapel. Burial will follow at the Grovertown cemetery.
Bonnie Lou Nofsger
ARGOS — Bonnie Lou Noftsger, 56, of 210 E. South St., Argos, died at 1: 30 a.m. Saturday, May 31, 2008 at Methodist Hospital, Indianapolis.
Born in Wabash on April 17, 1952, she was the daughter of Francis and Lois Yeoman Day, who
both survive. She lived in Argos for about 30 years, having come from Culver. She was a 1970
graduate of Culver High School. In Bunker Hill on March 31, 1973, she married
Jack Noftsger
who preceded her in death on Oct. 31, 1995.
She had been employed at the Lear Corporation, Plymouth, for 34 years, and had served as
treasurer for a local union. She was a member of the Argos United Methodist Church, and had
also attended the Plymouth Church of the Brethren. She enjoyed reading novels, cooking for her
family and pot luck dinners for her church. She was a fan of NASCAR, especially Mark Martin, No. 8.
She is survived by one son, Jacob Allen Noftsger, Argos; one grandson, Noah Alexander
Noftsger, Rochester; her parents, Francis and Lois Day, Culver; one sister, Linda Odell and
husband Sandy of Las Vegas, Nev.; two brothers, Dean Day and Patricia Wright, Stillwater
Minn.; Dale Day and wife Shellie, Plymouth; and seven step-children. Several cousins, nieces
and nephews also survive.
Her funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Good Family Funeral Home, 1200 W. 18th
St., with Pastor Ruth Yoder officiating. Burial will be at Rochester IOOF cemetery. Friends may
call from 9 a.m. Tuesday until the service.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Methodist Hospital Hospice or the American Cancer Society.
Helen (Kulcsar) Rans
LAKE OF THE WOODS — Helen (Kulcsar) Rans, 93, of Lake of the Woods, died Saturday, May 31, 2008 at Bremen Health Care Center. She was born Aug. 3, 1914 in South Bend to Emery and Elizabeth (Eli) Kulcsar.
She is survived by a daughter: Roxanne (Duane) Leake of South Bend; two grandchildren; two sisters: Irene Kulcsar and Nancy Gaudinier both of Bremen; and a brother, Alex (Helen) Kulcsar of South Bend.
Private family services will be held. Burial will be at the Bremen cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.

Velma Victoria Schultz
MISHAWAKA — Velma Victoria Schultz, 82, of Mishawaka, died at 10: 45 a.m. Saturday, May 31, 2008 at Golden Living Nursing Center, Mishawaka.
She is survived by her husband Joyce, son, Kerry L. Schultz of Mishawaka; two grandchildren; two sisters, Helen Dodson, Marion Noon-Johns and two brothers: James and Cletus Noon.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 3, at Palmer Funeral Home-River Park, 2528 Mishawaka Ave., South Bend.
Rev. Dennis Ingle, pastor of Albright United Methodist Church, will officiate.
Burial will follow at St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger, Ind.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to services Tuesday at the funeral home.
Willard L. Woolley
SEBRING, FLA — Willard L. Woolley, 82, of Sebring, Fla., passed away Saturday, May 31,
2008, in Sebring. He was born July 22, 1925, to Arthur and Lily (Truex) Woolley in Plymouth. He
had been a resident of Sebring since 1995, after living in Naples, Fla. since 1969. He was a an
automotive repairman and salesman, owner and operator of Woolley’s Radiator and Glass
Service in Naples; was a member of Phoenix Association and was a veteran of the U.S. Navy,
serving in the Pacific Theatre during World War II. He was a member of Heartland Christian
Church in Sebring.
Mr. Woolley is survived by his wife, Mary of Sebring; daughter, Susan (and Mike) Greene of
Lake City, Fla.; sons: Mike (and Lisa) Woolley of Naples and Randy (and Karen) Woolley of
Naples; sisters: Helen Swanson of Rochester, and Alma of Lafayette; brother, Don Woolley of
Mesa, Ariz.; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by an
infant daughter, Peggy.
Services will be held at a later date at Heartland Christian Church in Sebring. Memorial
contributions may be made in his memory to the U.S. Navy Veteran’s Association. Cremation

Dr. Frank W. Bauer
PLYMOUTH – A longtime Plymouth optometrist, Dr. Frank W. Bauer, 96, passed away Sunday
morning, June 1 of natural causes in the Miller’s Merry Manor, Plymouth.
He was born the son of Mishawaka residents Jacob and Johanna (Frank) Bauer on July 14, 1911.
Frank graduated from Mishawaka High School and the Illinois College of Optometry in Chicago.
On Feb. 12, 1940 in South Bend, he married
the former Kathryn E. Stahr. The couple then
moved to Plymouth where Dr. Bauer established a practice that would span seven decades.
While practicing at the age of 90, Dr. Bauer was recognized as the oldest active optometrist in
the State of Indiana by the Indiana Optometric Association.
The Bauers were active members of St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Plymouth. Dr. Bauer was
a member of the Masonic Lodge No. 149, the Shrine Temple and a past president of the
Plymouth Kiwanis Club.
Playing bridge was a favorite past-time of Dr. Bauer’s and he had enjoyed the company of
friends while living at the Miller’s Assisted Living complex.
Dr. Bauer is survived by two daughters; Linda Lee and husband Joseph Felke Jr. of Plymouth
and Stephanie Lynn and husband Arthur Levin of Carmel.
Three grandchildren and Dr. Bauer’s five great grandchildren also survive. They are; Christopher
and Jennifer Felke with sons Patrick, Thomas, and Nicholas all of Plymouth, Sarah and John
Robinson with daughters Celia and Meg all of Franklin, Tenn. and Lindsay Levin of Carmel.
A sister Violet Rode of Monroeville, also survives.
Dr. Bauer was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, and a sister Florence Marquardt.
A time of sharing with the family will be held in the St. Thomas Episcopal Church, 400 N. Center
St., Plymouth from noon to 1 p.m. on Friday, June 6. A Requiem Funeral Mass will follow at 1
p.m. with Fr. John Schramm officiating.
Inurnment of ashes will take place immediately following the Mass in the St. Thomas columbarium.
