Ruth A. Annis
LAKEVILLE — Ruth A. Annis, 86, of Plymouth, formerly of Lakeville, died at 5: 05 a.m. Monday,
March 31, 2008 in Miller’s Merry Manor, Plymouth.
She is survived by daughters: Joanne (Roger) Sauer of Lakeville, Susie (Lyle) Haas of Lakeville,
Mary (Paul) Davis of Lakeville and Revonda Denney of Plymouth; sons: Russell (Judy) Annis of
Columbus, Ohio, Richard (Debra) Annis of Mishawaka, and Shawn (Jackie) Annis of
Mishawaka; 50 grandchildren; 64 great-grandchildren and three great-great- grandchildren; and
a brother, James (Ellen) Burks of Glasgow, Ky.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, April 4 in the Palmer Funeral Home, 314 S.
Michigan St., Lakeville. Burial will follow in Southlawn cemetery, South Bend. Visitation is from 4
to 8 p.m. Thursday, April 3 in the funeral home.

Adaline Louise Kucera
PLYMOUTH — Adaline Louise Kucera, 501 Pennsylvania Ave., Plymouth, died of natural causes on Monday, March 31, 2008. She was 78-years-old and had lived in the Marshall County area for 57 years.
Adaline was born on April 24, 1929, in Wanatah. She was the daughter of Jewels Warren and Lela Hancock Steinberg.
Adaline graduated from Knox High School in 1948.
She and Douglas Milan Kucera were married
, Douglas died in 1987.
Adaline worked at the Shirt Shed in Culver and Grants and Ben Franklin stores in Plymouth.
She was a member of AARP and Women’s Connection.
Two daughters and three sons survive Adaline.
Her daughters are Rebecca (Allen) Wade, Plymouth and Susan Bruneau, Carol Stream, Ill., and her sons are Douglas (Linda) Kucera, Gary Kucera, all of Plymouth and Gregory (Trina) Kucera, Lafayette, Tenn.
A sister, Dorothy Singleton, Knox, survives as well, along with nine grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.
A sister-in-law, Leona Steinberg, Lansing, Ill. and a brother -in-law, William (Pat) Kucera., Seminole, Fla. also survive together with a sister-in-law, Lori (Robert) Machacek, Lombard, Ill.
Adaline was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Douglas, and Donald Singleton, a brother-in-law. Also deceased are sisters Elizabeth Hyndman and Iva Irene Harris and a brother, Warren “Bud” Steinberg.
Friends are invited to celebrate the life and share memories of Adaline Louise Kucera from 4 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, April 2, 2008, and will continue at 7 a.m. Thursday, April 3, 2008 in the Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan St., Plymouth.
Funeral service for Adaline will be held in the funeral home at 10 a.m. on Thursday, April 3, 2008. The Rev. John Branch, pastor of the Plymouth Wesleyan Church, will officiate.
Burial will be in New Oakhill cemetery, Plymouth.
Memorials in Adaline’s memory may be made to the American Diabetes Association or the American Heart Association.
Annemarie C. McLiver
Annemarie C. McLiver, 83, passed away Monday, March 31, 2008, at the home of her niece, Sherrie Martin, surrounded by her loving family, from an extended illness.
Annie was born in Cologne-Lindenthal, Germany, on Oct. 9, 1924, to Martin Karl Hermann Gustav and Wilhelmine (nee Gobel) Knaak.
The eldest of three children, she came to America as a war bride. On Oct. 9, 1948, in Roseland, Annie and Isaac A. McLiver, of Benton Harbor, Mich., were married
.
Annie lived most of her life in Michigan, retiring to Florida 26 years ago. She and her husband recently returned to Plymouth to be near family.
Annie was an avid golfer, boasting two Holes in One, which was matched by her husband, Ike.
She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and all types of crafts, excelling in painting. She sold several of her paintings and was always learning new and different techniques. One of her favorite pasttimes was playing cards and dice games with her family and friends. Annie was always the "official scorekeeper" adding the scores up out loud in German. She was also an avid square dancer, for many years, belonging to clubs in both Michigan and Florida.
She worked for VM-The Voice of Music, in Benton Harbor, for several years, and later helped her husband run his Yellowrock Engraving business from home.
Annie is survived by her husband, Ike; her step-daughter, Carol Ann Weissbruch and family of Illinois; her brothers: Karl Heinz (Hilde) Knaak and their daughters Gabrielle, Annemarie, and Ruth; and Martin (Katrina) Knaak and their daughter Petra and family all of Cologne, Germany; her godchild, Ursula Jungbluth of Lohmar, Germany; her sister-in-law, Martha McLiver; her niece Sherrie (Phillip) Martin; her nephew Dave (Julie) McLiver and families all of Plymouth, and her nephew John (Elizabeth) Borysko of Michigan. Several nieces and nephews from California also survive.
Annie was preceded in death by her parents; her in-laws, Archie and Amy McLiver; her sisters and brothers-in-law, Mary and Art McMahan, Jack and Jean McLiver, and Archie McLiver.
There will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place. A family dinner to celebrate Annie's life will be held at a later date.

Winnifred Siddall
PLYMOUTH — Winnifred “Winnie” Siddall, 80, 5625 Michigan St., Plymouth, died of natural causes in Miller’s Merry Manor, Plymouth, at 8: 45 am on Monday, March 31, 2008. She was a resident of the Plymouth area for the past 30 years.
Winnie was born on Oct. 24, 1927, in Dallas, Texas, the daughter of John R. and Lura Mary Deshazo Spellacy.
She graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in Dallas and from the Oak Cliff School of Business, also in Dallas, Texas.
On July 29, 1977, Winnie and Gene Siddall were married
in Big Cabin, Okla.
She worked in the cafeteria at Plymouth High School and at Miller’s Merry Manor, Plymouth, for eight years, retiring in 1990.
In February of 1985, Winnie was named Miller’s Employee of the Month.
Winnie is survived by her husband, Gene, and by three daughters and two sons.
Her daughters are Robin Sue Buckman, Wichita, Kan.: Jeanie Dell, Cincinnati, Ohio, and Jan Taylor, Dallas, Texas. Her sons are Robert B. Siddall, Chicago, Ill., and Jeff Siddall, Wichita, Kan.
A sister, Mary Katherine Brown, Greenville, Texas, also survives.
Friends are invited to share memories of Winnie with her family from 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday, April 4, 2008, in the Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan St., Plymouth.
Funeral services for Winnie will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 5, 2008, at St. Thomas Episcopal Church, 400 N. Center St., Plymouth, where she was a long-time member. Father John E. Schramm, pastor of the church, will officiate.
Sovilla (Schmucker) Hochstetler
NAPPANEE — Sovilla (Schmucker) Hochstetler, 91, of Nappanee, died at 2: 05 p.m. Tuesday, April 1, 2008 at home.
She is survived by sons: Devon (Laura) Hochstetler of Nappanee, Wyman “Hop” (Maryln) Hochstetler of Walkerton, Richard (Esther) Hochstetler of Hale, Texas, Lisle (Mary) Hochstetler of Nappanee, Monroe Jay (Erma) Hochstetler of Nappanee, Andrew (Tracy) Hochstetler Jr. of Nappanee and Danny Hochstetler of Nappanee; daughters: Betty (Marvin) Slabaugh of Nappanee, Maude (Oscar) Burkholder of Bremen, Alma (Chris) Slabaugh, Judy (Wilbur) Mast of Etna Green, Mary Etta Hochstetler of Nappanee, Linda (Harley) Schmucker of Nappanee and Sherry (Marlin) Miller of Nappanee; 77 grandchildren; 270 great-grandchildren; and 27 greatgreat-grandchildren.
Visitation was after 3 p.m. Wednesday and all day Thursday, April 3 at the family residence, 111-B 2nd B Rd., Nappanee. Funeral services are Friday, April 4 at 9: 30 a.m. at the family residence.
Burial will be at Weldy cemetery.

Paul Vern Dipert
PLYMOUTH — Paul Vern Dipert, 86, 230 Leslie St., Plymouth, died in Miller’s Merry Manor, Plymouth, at 2: 30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 2, 2008.
Born in Walkerton, on Dec. 13, 1921, Paul was the son of Vern and Mabel Barber Dipert.
He graduated from Plymouth High School.
On Aug. 6, 1944, Paul and Beaulah Elizabeth Beyler Sherk were married
. Beaulah died in 1987.
A dairy farmer, Paul bought his farm in 1950. He also was a punch press operator at Studebaker’s for 16 years, having started working there in November of 1942.
He also drove a school bus for Tyner/ Polk Township.
He was a fisherman and a bowler and enjoyed playing cards, especially the game of Euchre.
Paul was a member of the Tyner Odd Fellows Lodge and the Church of the Brethren.
Paul is survived by two daughters and two sons. His daughters are Rebecca Dipert and Regina Dipert, both of Plymouth. His sons are step-son, Rodger (Bonnie) Sherk, Rochester, and son Douglas (Kathy) Dipert, Walkerton.
Two granddaughters, Beth (John) Hilbert, and Betsy (Chris) Gardner and three grandsons: Ryan (Faith) Sherk, Justin (Sue) Dipert and Jason (Beth) Dipert, survive as well, along with eight great-grandchildren.
A brother, Gail (Jan) Dipert, Wellston, Mich., and two sisters, Betty (Carl) Coplen, Avon Park, Fla., and Ruth Ann ( Don) Anders, Plymouth, also survive Paul was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, four brothers Deane Dipert, Richard “Bud” Dipert, Robert Dipert, and Roger Dipert, two sisters Maxine Thomas and Marian Paton, and a special friend Rita Anway.
Friends are invited to share memories and celebrate the life of Paul Dipert with his family at the Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan St., Plymouth, from 4 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, April 6, 2008. A service provided by the Tyner Odd Fellows Lodge will be held at 7 p.m.
Funeral services for Paul will be held Monday at 10: 30 a.m. in the Plymouth Church of the Brethren. Pastor Ruth Yoder, will officiate.
Paul will be laid to rest next to his wife in the Oakhill cemetery, Plymouth.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in Paul’s memory may be made to the Tyner Odd Fellows Lodge or to the Center for Hospice and Palliative Care.
Lyman Everett Jones
ROCHESTER — Lyman Everett Jones, 88, of Rochester, died at 7: 35 a.m. Wednesday, April 2
at Life Care Center of Rochester.
He is survived by his wife, Daisy Jones; sons: James E. Jones of Sanford, N.C., Donald M.
(Geneva) Jones of Jackson, Ky. and Jerry L. (Tani) Jones of Riverton, Utah; seven
grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchildren; brother, Vern (Bonnie)
Jones of Logansport; and sister, Juanita Johnson of Flora.
Visitation was Thursday, April 3 from 5 to 8 p.m. and one hour prior to services Friday in the
Good Family Funeral Home, Rochester. Funeral services are at 10 a.m. Friday, April 4 at the
funeral home.
Burial will be at the Rochester IOOF cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Trinity United Methodist Church.
Carolyn Sue Minix
OAK GROVE — Carolyn Sue Minix, 65, died Wednesday, April 2, 2008 in Starke Memorial Hospital, Knox.
She is survived by her husband, Earsel Minix; daughters: Shelley Fletcher of Knox, Cynthia
(Ron) McIntire of Hamlet and Melissa (Lee) Jordan of Knox; son, Dennis (Nancy) Minix of Knox;
15 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; sisters: Iva Jean Minix of Knox, Fafalene Jenkins of
Winamac and Sharon Baker of Smithville, Tenn.; and brothers: Fred Howard of Bourbon and
Roger Howard of Grovertown.
Visitation is Saturday, April 5 from 4 to 8 p.m. and Sunday after 10 a.m. until the time of services
at the Rannells Funeral Home, Hamlet Chapel. Funeral services are Sunday, April 6 at 11 a.m.
CDT at the funeral home. Burial will be at Round Lake cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Riley Hospital for Children.
Patricia K. Hardesty
NASHVILLE — Patricia K. Hardesty, 62, of Nashville, Tenn., died Thursday, April 3, 2008, at
8: 15 p.m., at the Summit MedicalCenter in Hermitage Tennessee. She was formerly of Plymouth, Indiana.
Patricia is survived by her daughters, Cindy Price of Argos, Candy Bonnell of Plymouth, Connie
and James Lawton of Talma, and Karen and Adam Leazenby of Kewanna; her son, John and
Bonnie Hardesty of Plymouth; her brothers, Lloyd (Tiny) Hatfield and Richard Hatfield both of
Plymouth, Gary Hatfield of Arizona, and Loren (Butch) Hatfield of Elkhart, Indiana; 12
grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 9, 2008, at 1 p.m. at the Van Gilder Funeral
Home, in Plymouth, with the Rev. Douglas Jividenofficiating. Burial will be in the Tyner cemetery, Tyner.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, April 9, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Van Gilder Funeral Home, 300 W. Madison St., Plymouth, IN, 46563.

Joy G. Krull
ARGOS — Joy G. Krull, 66, of 7229 17th Rd., Argos, died Thursday, April 3, 2008 at 4: 30 a.m. at her home. She had been ill since October 2006. She was born Feb. 2, 1942 in Plymouth to Robert and Hilda (Hall) Filson.
She lived in the Argos community since 1984 coming from the Culver community. She lived all of her life in the Marshall county area.
She owned and operated Joy’s Café in Argos from 1984 to 2000. Before that she had worked for Bennett’s Plumbing & Heating in Culver.
She grew up in Inwood and attended the Inwood United Methodist Church. She attended Inwood School and graduated from Plymouth High School with the class of 1960. She was a member of the Argos Lions Club, and Argos United Methodist Church and the Parish Life Committee.
Joy is survived by one daughter, Barbara (Kevin) Williams of Argos; grandchildren: Kala and Michael Williams of Argos; and Amy, Dustee and Ben Krull of Rochester; daughter-in-law, Rose Krull of Rochester; two brothers: Bill (Sue) Filson and John (Jan) Filson both of Plymouth; and one sister, Phyllis (Harold) Bachtel of Plymouth.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and son, David Krull in May 1999.
Friends may visit with the family Saturday, April 5 from 4 to 8 p.m. and one hour prior to services at the Argos United Methodist Church, 504 N. Michigan St., Argos.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday, April 6 at the Argos United Methodist Church, Argos with Rev. Don Nunemaker officiating. Graveside services will follow at a later date at the New Oakhill cemetery, Plymouth.

Verda Marguerite Todd
PRESCOTT, Kan. — Verda Marguerite Todd, 95, a resident of the Country View Nursing Home
in Prescott, Kan., and a former resident of East Chicago, and Conyers, Ga., died, Thursday,
April 3, 2008, at Prescott. She was born March 18, 1913, in Dwight, Ill., the daughter of John
Frisinger and Lona Mead Frisinger. She married
Owen Hedwall in December of 1932. He
preceded her in death in 1956. She later married
Spurgeon Todd in 1958. He died in 1965. Mrs.
Todd had worked as a librarian for many years at the public library in Lake County, Ind.
Survivors include a daughter, Linda Johannsen, and husband, Tom of Independence, Mo. Also
surviving are numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by six sisters: Audrey,
Vergil, Avis, Ruth, Bernadine and Lois; and three brothers: Ralph, Howard, and John Jr.
There was cremation.

Theresa M. Corso
KNOX — Theresa M. Corso, 69, of Knox, died Friday, April 4 at her home.
She is survived by her sister, Marie "Miss Marie" Dylag of Knox.
Visitation took place on Sunday, April 6 from 1 to 5 p.m. with a rosary service at 1 p.m. at the M.C. Smith Funeral Home, Knox.
Funeral mass will take place on Monday, April 7 at 10 a.m. at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church burial followed at Holy Cross cemetery, Hamlet.
Gailen E. Johnson
PLYMOUTH — Gailen E. Johnson, 75, of Lakeville died Friday, April 4 at the St. Joseph Medical
Center, Plymouth of natural causes.
Hs is survived by his wife, Freida; 15 children including Cindy K. Weaver of Lakeville; a stepson,
Dennis L. Johnson of LaPaz; 16 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; three sisters: Toni
Carmean of Elkhart, Sue Heckman of Texas and Candy Sickles of Elkart and five brothers:
Dennis Johnson and Frank Johnson, both of Elkhart; Joel Johnson of Niles, Mich., and Roger
and Ray Johnson, both of California.
Visitation will take place on Wednesday, April 9 from 3 to 7 p.m. at the Johnson-Danielson
Funeral Home, Plymouth.
A family funeral service will be held.
Memorials can be made to the American Heart Association.
Jayson Keen
KNOX — Infant Jayson Keen, of Knox, was stillborn Friday, April 4, 2008.
He is survived by his parents, Chad and Shea (Cole) Keen of Knox; two brothers, Jacob and Jayden Keen; maternal grandparents, Adam and Jackie Cole of North Judson and paternal grandparents Eric and Monica Keen of Plymouth.
Private graveside services will take place.

Betty Jane Ritter
ROCHESTER — Betty Jane Ritter, 83, 322 Ohio St., Rochester, went to be with the Lord at 10: 35 p.m. Friday, April 4, 2008 at her daughter and son-in-law’s, Ruth and Donald Bean’s home in Argos.
She was born on Jan. 25, 1925 in Plymouth, the daughter of Bina and Lula (Hall) Nitcher. On Nov. 2, 1940 in South Bend, she married
Bishop Armond A. Ritter. He preceded her in death on Feb. 8, 1990.
Mrs. Ritter had retired from Hart, Schaffner & Marx and worked as a cook for Pizza Hut after her
retirement. She had also delivered papers for the Rochester Sentinel and had worked for Blue
Bell in Nappanee. Prior to coming to Rochester, Mrs. Ritter and her husband Pastored churches
in Bremen and Peru. She was a member of the Pentecostal Churches of America, the Apostolic
World Christian Fellowship and a member of the Apostolic Pentecostal Church, Rochester for 45
years. Her hobbies included sewing, baking, cooking and gardening. She will be remembered for
her generosity of putting on church dinners, preparing food and clothes to be sent overseas to
less fortunate people, and always sending cards of encouragement to family and friends. The
Ritter Family is grateful to the Rochester Community for allowing Bishop Armond and Betty Ritter
the opportunity to be servants of the community.
Survivors include her children: sons, Bishop Richard and wife Annetta Ritter Sr., Rochester and
Pastor Robert and wife Carol Ritter Sr., Rochester; daughters, Ruth and husband Donald Bean,
Argos, Carole Jones, Rochester, Martha and husband Rufus Buckner, Rochester; several
grandchildren and great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; sisters: Virginia Spencer,
Plymouth, and Lula Wallace, Argos.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, three sisters, grandson, and a great-grandson.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday, April 9, 2008 at Zimmerman Bros.
Funeral Home, Rochester, with Elder Charles W. Warfield III officiating. Friends may call from 4
to 8 p.m. Tuesday and one hour prior to service at the funeral home. Burial will be in the
Tippecanoe cemetery, Tippecanoe.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hope Hospice of Fulton County. The Ritter Family would
