Brian Peter
TELL CITY - Brian David Peter, 27, died Thursday, Jan. 24, 2002, at Indiana University Medical Center in Indianapolis of respiratory failure.
He was a student at Purdue University and his interests included golf, fishing, jet ski riding and spending time with family and friends. He was an avid fan of all sports, particularly Purdue University sports.
A native of Perry County, he was born June 3, 1974.
He is survived by his parents, Vince and Margie (Dauby) Peter of Tell City; his grandmother, Zelda Peter of Tell City; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Homer and Mabel (Theis) Dauby and Albert Peter.
Services will be at 10 a.m. EST Monday at St. Peter Catholic Church in Tell City, the Fr. George Henninger officiating, with burial in St. Mark Cemetery
near Tell City.
Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday and from 8 to 9:30 a.m. Monday at Huber Funeral Home Tell City Chapel, with a prayer service at 6:30 p.m. Sunday.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
Alfred Scarbrough
ROCKPORT - Alfred Lee Scarbrough, 66, died Thursday, Jan. 24, 2002, at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Hospital in Evansville.
He was born in Yankeetown, Ind., and was a machinist for 30 years at Alcoa Warrick Operations. He was a member of U.S. Steel Workers Local 104, Gospel Mission Church, Eureka Masonic Lodge and Scottish Rite.
Surviving are his wife of 22 years, Sue; three sons, Curtis Scarbrough of Elberfeld and Chuck and Andy Scarbrough, both of Rockport; two daughters, Theresa Rebold of Evansville and Stacey Crawford of Rockport; and six grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Gospel Mission Church, the Revs. Gail Burdette and Tim Coomer officiating, with burial in James Parker Cemetery
in Hatfield.
Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. today, with a masonic service at 7 p.m., and from 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Sunday at Boultinghouse Funeral Home.
Norbert 'Nob' Stieneker
HUNTINGBURG - Norbert "Nob" Stieneker, 66, died Friday, Jan., 25, 2002, at Deaconess St. Joseph's Hospital of congestive heart failure.
He worked for the Dale Wood Co. in Dale, Ind.
Surviving are his wife, Loretta; two daughters, Becky Hopf and Misty Ubelhor; a son, Mark; three sisters, Mildred Koons, Marge Johnson and Alvera Piper; two brothers, Ralph and Bill; and 10 grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. EST Monday at Nass & Son Funeral Home, with burial in Mayo Cemetery
near Duff, with military rites.

Anita Wehr
JASPER - Anita Wehr, 91, died Friday, Jan. 25, 2002, at Regina Continuing Care in Evansville.
Surviving is a sister, Cyrilla Reker.
Services will be at 10 a.m. EST Monday at Holy Family Catholic Church, with burial in Fairview Cemetery.

Wilma Whipple
BOONVILLE - Wilma G. Whipple, 90, died Friday, Jan. 25, 2002, at Cypress Grove Rehabilitation Center in Newburgh.
She had worked as a clerk at the Warrick County Health Office.
Surviving are a daughter, Mary Jo Campbell; a son, Jerry; and three grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Bradley Colonial Chapel, with burial in Maple Grove Cemetery.

Elizabeth Lynne Cater
Elizabeth Lynne Cater, 62, of Evansville, died Friday, January 25, 2002, at Columbia Health Care.
Elizabeth was a photo refinisher at Qualex, a division of Kodak.
She was a member of Grace Episcopal Church in Hinsdale, Illinois, and she helped canvas for donations for the American Cancer Society.
She is survived by her husband of 42 years, Donald W. Cater; daughters, Danielle Lynnett Cater, Deanna Lynne Dodds and Donna Louise Harpe; son, Donald Lee Cater; sisters, Carole Ann Smith, Joyce Webb and Martha Polk; brothers, David Bailey and Pete Bailey, Jr.; and 13 grandchildren.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday, January 27, 2002, at Browning Funeral Home, the Rev. John Hilbert officiating, with burial at a later date.
Friends may call from 2 p.m. until the service time Sunday at Browning Funeral Home.

Pauline Beth Freeman
Pauline Beth Freeman, 75, of Evansville, died Friday, January 25, 2002, at her residence.
She was employed with Mead Johnson for 42 years, retiring in 1987.
Pauline was a member of Central Methodist Church for 20 years.
She is survived by a daughter-in-law, Joyce Freeman of Evansville; a brother, Kenneth Ward of Fairfield, Ill.; three grandsons, Donnis "Denny" Freeman Jr., Randy Freeman and Kirk Freeman; seven great-grandchildren, Jeff, Julie, Mike, Lindsay, Andy, Jason and Emily Freeman; and nieces and nephews, Steve, Robert, Victoria, Daniel, Carmen and Michael Ward.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilburn C. "Chuck" Freeman, in 1982; a stepson, Donnis Lee Freeman, Sr., in 1966; a brother, Donald Ward, in 1993; and her parents, Irvin and Irma (Walters) Ward.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, January 29, 2002, at Browning Funeral Home, the Rev. Joseph Easley officiating, with entombment in Oak Hill Mausoleum.

Edna M. Goebel
Edna M. Goebel, 90, of Evansville, died Friday, January 25, 2002, at St. Mary's Medical Center.
Mrs. Goebel was a long-time member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Evansville Firefighters Auxiliary, Daughters of Isabella, St. Rita's Auxiliary, Friends of Willard Library and was a charter member of the Tri-State Genealogical Society. She had worked in the Perry Township Assessor?s Office.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Harold Goebel, in 1997, and a sister, Hazel Ellerbrook.
Mrs. Goebel is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Carol A. and Leslie Lantaff; a daughter and son-in-law, Bettye Jo and Edwin J. Reine, all of Evansville; a son and daughter-in-law, Ron and Vella Goebel, of Evansville; a son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Marilynn Goebel, of Knoxville, Tenn.; 15 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Olive Kohmescher of San Diego, Calif., and Alma Berridge of Winter Park, Fla.
Funeral services will begin at 10 a.m. Monday, January 28, 2002, at Pierre Funeral Home, continued at 10:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, the Rev. Eugene Dewig officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery.
Visitation will be Sunday from 2 until 8 p.m. at Pierre Funeral Home, where there will be a rosary recited at 6 p.m.
Harold Greenberg
Harold Greenberg, 82, of Evansville, passed away Friday, Jan. 25, 2002, at St. Mary's Medical Center.
He retired in 1981 from Goodyear as a Territorial Sales Manager.
He was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses Southeast Congregation. He was a former member of Moose Lodge, the Evansville Clabber League, and the Owls.
Mr. Greenberg is survived by his wife of 60 years, Dora Greenberg; a son, Harold Greenberg II, and a daughter, Danyne Ivey, both of Evansville; five grandchildren, Kemberle Jene Weightman, Mindy Lynn Ivey, Scott Emerson Ivey, Harold Greenberg III, and Jonna ReNae Goad; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 27, at Ziemer Funeral Home East Chapel.
A memorial service will be held Wednesday, Jan. 30, at 7 p.m. at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses Southeast Congregation. Rueben Meeler will be officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery.
