ROCHESTER — Naomi R. Shirk, 34, of Rochester, died at 9: 13 a.m. Monday, March 17 at
Parkview Hospital, Fort Wayne.
She is survived by her husband, Titus Shirk of Rochester; parents: Harry and Miriam Weaver of
Argos; son, Harlan Shirk; daughters: Delores, Minerva, Ruthann, Kathleen and Anita Shirk;
sisters: Martha (LaVern) Martin of Rochester, Rachel (Elson) Martin of Rochester, Eunice
(Orvie) Ramer of Wakarusa, Rhoda Weaver of Argos and Joanna Weaver of Argos; and
brothers: Jonathan (Margaret) Weaver of Tippecanoe, Nathan (Minerva) Weaver of Argos,
Mathew (Waneta) Weaver of Argos and Andrew (Alice) Weaver of Argos.
Visitation is Wednesday, March 19 from 2 to 8 p.m. in the family home at 749 W. 650 N.,
Rochester. Funeral services are Thursday, March 20 at 10 a.m. in the Tippecanoe Old Order
Mennonite Church, Rochester.
Burial will be at the Tippecanoe Old Order Mennonite cemetery.

Artena B. Hedington
Artena B. Hedington, 96, formerly of Tippecanoe, died Tuesday, March 18 at 12: 19 p.m. at Miller’s Merry Manor, Warsaw.
She is survived by daughters: Mary Sparks of Etna Green and Retha (Russell) Hart of Mentone;
sons: Delbert (Candace) Hedington of Etna Green, Donald (Betty) Hedington of Warsaw and
Jerry (Sandy) Hedington of Tippecanoe; 14 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and 33 greatgreat-grandchildren.
Visitation is Friday, March 21 from 3 to 7 p.m. at King Memorial Home, 101 N. Tucker St.,
Mentone. Funeral services are Saturday, March 22 at 10: 30 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will
be at Tippecanoe cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the donor’s choice.
Neva R. Hostetler
WALKERTON — Neva R. Hostetler, 86, of Walkerton, died Tuesday, March 18 at Saint Joseph
Regional Medical Center, Plymouth.
She is survived by a son, Wayne (Carol) Hostetler of Plymouth; daughter, Sue (Fred) Williams of
South Bend; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Visitation is Thursday, March 20 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Nusbaum-Elkin Funeral
Home, Walkerton. Funeral services are Friday, March 21 at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial
will follow at Eastlawn cemetery, North Liberty.

Brennan Munday
Brennan Munday, 2, formerly of Plymouth, died Tuesday, March 18, 2008.
He is survived by his parents: Kelly and Mike Munday of Plymouth; grandfather, Ronald Smith of
Plymouth; paternal grandparents, Terry and Linda Munday of Marion, great-grandmother, Elyse
Passwello; Uncles: Ronald Smith of Crown Point, Douglas (Traci) Munday of Marion; Aunts:
Carmen Paguada of Plymouth, Lynn Munday of Marion, Shelli (Don) Rowley and 14 cousins.
The funeral service will be held Tuesday, March 25 at 9: 15 a.m. CST at Burns Funeral Home,
10101 Broadway, Crown Point, going to Our Lady of Consolation Catholic Church, 8303 Taft St.,
Merrillville, for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. CST with Rev. Joseph E. Vamos,
officiating. Visitation is at the funeral home on Monday, March 24 from 4 to 8 p.m.
Interment will be at Burr Oak cemetery, Culver.

Donna L. Perkins
PLYMOUTH — Donna L. Perkins, 67, a resident or Miller’s Merry Manor, Plymouth, died of
natural causes in Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center, South Bend, at 1: 52 p.m. on Tuesday, March, 18, 2008.
Donna was born in Oakland, Calif., the daughter of Lowell Q. and Barbara D. Farrington Burbank on May 29, 1940.
She and Ernest Perkins were married
in 1958, Ernest died on May 10, 2006.
A homemaker, Donna had lived in the Marshall County area since 1965.
She enjoyed cross-stitching, playing bingo, sewing and spending time with her family.
Donna is survived by two daughters and two sons. They are Joanna and Victor Weldy, Bremen;
Barbara and Clyde Lohse, Argos; Ernest and Dianne Perkins Jr., South Bend and Ricky and
Debbie Perkins, Wakarusa.
A sister, Mary Dahlberg of Kimberly, Idaho and a brother, Dean Dahlherg of California, also
survive together with 15 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren and six great–great-grandchildren.
Donna was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and two brothers, Jessie Dahlberg
and Gary Burbank and a sister Molly Potter.
Friends will be welcomed by Donna’s family from noon to 2 p.m. on Thursday, March 20, 2008,
at the Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan St., Plymouth.
Funeral services, officiated by Steven Patrick will be held at 2 p.m., following visitation, in the funeral home.
Burial will be in New Oakhill cemetery, Plymouth.
Memorial gifts in Donna’s memory may be made to the Cancer or Diabetes associations.
David Thompson
PLYMOUTH — David “Dave” Thompson, 57, of Plymouth, died Tuesday, March 18 in Louisville,
Ky. as the result of an accident.
He is survived by his wife, Rachel Thompson of Plymouth; daughters: Faith (Tony) Gamble of
Plymouth, Robin (Mike) Klaker of Illinois and Rhonda Antich of Argos; sons: David (Brandi)
Thompson of Arizona and Jason Antich of Argos; eight grandchildren; sister, Patricia Kline of
Plymouth; and a brother, Ronald (Melodie) Thompson of Rochester.
Visitation is Monday, March 24 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home,
Plymouth, and after 7 a.m. Tuesday. Funeral services are Tuesday, March 25 at 11 a.m. at the
funeral home. Burial will be at the Tyner cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Riley Hospital for Children.

BREMEN — Flora Rangel, 15, of Bremen, died Wednesday, March 19 at Riley Hospital for Children.
She is survived by her parents, Mario and Ma Guadalupe (Garcia) Rangel; brothers: Javier
(Laura) Rangel of Bremen, Emannuel Rangel, at home and Miguel Rangel, at home; sisters:
Maria Rangel and Maricruz Rangel, both at home; and grandparents: Manuel and Adela Rangel
and Hijinio Garcia.
Visitation is Friday, March 21 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Mishler Funeral Home, Bremen. Funeral
services are Saturday, March 22 at 1: 30 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at the Bremen cemetery.

ARGOS — Esther Melba Zink, 93, of Argos, died at 4: 35 a.m. Thursday, March 20 at Pilgrim Manor, Plymouth.
She is survived by many nieces and nephews.
Graveside funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, March 21 at the Maple Grove cemetery, Argos.

Janna K. Miller
PLYMOUTH — Janna K. Miller, 20, of Plymouth, passed away Friday, March 21, 2008, at 4: 55
p.m. at her home, in the arms of her mother and father, with her family by her side.
Miller was born on Sept. 16, 1987, in South Bend, to Rick and Barbara (Leonard) Miller. She was
a gift from God and was truly an angel on earth. She adored her family and was loved by so many people.
She is survived by her parents, Rick and Barbara Miller; two brothers, Rick Miller and Rob Miller,
both at home; paternal grandparents, V. Richard and Jane Miller of Syracuse, and maternal
grandmother, Iona Leonard of Plymouth.
She was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, John Leonard; a sister, Emily Ann
Miller; an uncle, Rob Miller and cousins Dustin Easley and Phil Pearson.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, March 25, at 11 a.m., at the Van Gilder Funeral Home,
Plymouth, with the Rev. Father William Kummer officiating. Burial will be at New Oak Hill
cemetery, Plymouth.
Family and friends are invited to visit with the Miller family, Monday, March 24, from 4 to 8 p.m.

Geraldine Wendel
Geraldine Wendel, 78, passed away quietly on March 21, 2008 at the Catherine Kasper Home in Donaldson.
Gerry was born to the union of an Irish Immigrant mother and American father, Lyle and Mary
Ellen (O’Connell) Morgan on Nov. 29, 1929 in Benwood, W. Va.
Gerry moved to Plymouth in 1966 with her five children, following her sister and brother-in-law,
Jim and Marie Johanning. Gerry was very proudly employed for more than 25 years at the
American Optical Corporation, Plymouth, as a Lab Technician and leaves behind many dear
friends from her days there. She spent her days raising her children, relishing in their
accomplishments, celebrating their successes, and watching her grandchildren and great-grandchild grow.
An avid Notre Dame Football and Basketball fan, many a fall afternoon saw her routing on, her
Fighting Irish, either in her living room or attending the games with her niece and nephew, Joyce and Ron Vogler
Geraldine was a member of Saint Michael Catholic Church, Saint Michael’s Altar Rosary
Society, The Harvest House, and a frequent volunteer at the Marshall County Neighborhood
Center, until her health would not allow it.
Gerry was the proud mother of five children: Dr. Kathleen and James Jones of Hereford, Ariz.;
Donald and Michele Wendel and their children, Valerie and Joseph Medema, and their daughter
Brooke of Kalamazoo, Mich., Laura and Zach Scott of South Bend, and Stacey Wendel of
Plymouth; John and Susan Wendel and their children, Jared Wendel and Jordan Wendel of
Plymouth; Paul Wendel and his daughter Olivia Wendel of Plymouth; and Phillip Wendel of
Atlanta, Ga. Also surviving are her two brothers: Robert and Rita Morgan of Wheeling, W. Va.,
and Leo and Linda Morgan of Wheeling; and her sister-in-law, Marjorie Morgan of Wheeling.
Gerry was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers: Fr. Leo Morgan, Bernard Morgan,
Joseph Morgan, Paul Morgan, and Walter Morgan all of Wheeling; her sister, Marie Johanning
of Plymouth; and her grandson Garrett Wendel of Plymouth.
A Mass of the Christian Burial will be on Monday, MARCH 31, 2008, at 11 a.m., at Saint Michael
Catholic Church, Plymouth, with the Rev. Father William Kummer, officiating. Burial will be in
New Oak Hill cemetery, Plymouth.
A time of visiting with the family will be on Sunday, MARCH 30, 2008, from 4 to 8 p.m. with Rosary at 7: 30 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be given to the Catherine Kasper Life Center or to Saint Michael Catholic Church.
David F. Whaley
SOUTH BEND — David F. Whaley, 73, died Friday, March 21, 2008.
He is survived by his wife, Marilyn; a daughter, Nancy Jo Whaley of Mishawaka; two stepsons:
Joseph A. (Kathy) Romano Jr. of Goshen, and Bryan K. Romano of Plymouth; five
grandchildren; brother, William A. (Ethel) Whaley of LaPaz; two sisters-in-law: Ruth Whaley of
Lakeville, and Mary Ann Higginbotham of Long Beach, Calif.; and mother-in-law, Alyce Procaccino of South Bend.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, March 28 in the Christian Center Cathedral of
Praise, 530 E. Ireland Rd. South Bend. Burial will follow in Southlawn cemetery, South Bend.
Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, March 27, 2008 in the Palmer Funeral Home-Guisinger
Chapel, 3718 S. Michigan St., South Bend, and one hour prior to the services on Friday in the church.

Martha B. Garbison
KNOX — Martha B. Garbison, 83, of Knox, died Saturday, March 22 at her home.
She is survived by her children: Agnes Middaugh of Seattle, Wash., Sandy Craft of Knox,
Rhonda Tunis of North Judson, Gail Stepp of Winamac and Danny Garbison of Hanna; 17
grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will take place on Monday, March 24 from 4 to 8 p.m. at M.C. Smith Funeral Home, Knox.
Funeral services will take place on Tuesday, March 25 at 11 a.m. at the funeral home.
Burial will take place at Bass Lake cemetery.
Donabelle Millbern Kuntz
Mrs. Donnabelle Millbern Kuntz, 86, of Miller’s Merry Manor Nursing Home, Plymouth, formerly
of Bourbon, died Saturday, March 22, 2008 in Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center of Plymouth.
She is survived her two sons and their wives: Jerry and Sandra Kuntz of Bourbon and Hal and
Patricia Kuntz of South Bend; two grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a sister-in-law,
Elizabeth Millbern of Lakeland, Fla.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, March 26 at 10: 30 a.m. in Deaton-Clemens Funeral Home,
Bourbon. Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, in the funeral home. Burial will follow in the
Pleasant Hill cemetery at Bourbon.

KNOX — Carol E. Williams, 57, of Knox, died Saturday, March 22, 2008.
She is survived by her husband, John B. Williams; children: Regina Sliter and Jeffrey Sliter, both
of Elkhart, John B. Williams Jr. and Angel R. (Terry) Pletka, both of Knox; siblings: Dennis
Saygers of Texas, David Saygers of Plymouth, Eva Richard of South Bend and Debbie Richard
of South Bend; and eight grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held Thursday, March 27 at 1 p.m. CDT at the Full Gospel Assembly Church in Knox.

Oscar Winkelman
KOONTZ LAKE — Oscar Winkelman, 79, of Koontz Lake, died Saturday, March 22, 2008, in his home.
He is survived by three sisters: Betty Summerlott of Koontz Lake, Paula Wing of Stillwell and
Lillian Airhart of Lafayette; one brother, Paul Winkelman of Lewiston, Idaho; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. CDT at Rannells Funeral Home, Koontz Lake
Chapel. Visitation is Wednesday from 11 a.m. CDT until the time of services.
Burial will take place at Woodlawn cemetery in Walkerton.
