PLYMOUTH — Gladys Lucille DeVault, 58, of Plymouth, died Sunday, Dec. 13, 2009.
She is survived by her husband Robert; daughters, Katie Rose of Plymouth and Lucy (Ronnie) Kinsey of LaPorte; step-daughters, Dora (Arnold) Erloes of Hobart and Diane DeVault of Knox; sons, David (Carol) Stacy of LaPorte and Mark (Amy) Stacy of LaPorte; sisters: Virginia Clemons of Knox, June Allen of North Judson and Dorothy Clemons of Brems; brothers, Guy Cole of Murphysboro, Ill. and Gerald Cole of Knox; and nine grandchildren.
Visitation will take place from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 16 at Braman & Son Memorial Chapel, 108 S. Main St., Knox.
Funeral services will take place at 1 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 17 at the funeral home.
Burial will follow at Round Lake cemetery.

WARSAW — James. M. Music Jr., 65, of Warsaw, died at 11:56 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 13, 2009 at Lutheran Hospital of Ft. Wayne after a brief illness.
He is survived by children: Dennis (Tonya) Pletcher of Etna Green, Sally Pletcher of Warsaw, Pamela Yungandreas of Bremen, Matt Music of Chicago, Ill., Ted Music of Etna Green, Gwen Music of Phoenix, Ariz., George (Wendy) Music of Atwood, Julia (Todd) Whetstone of Tab, Ind., Becki (George) Marks of Bourbon, Carmen (Don) Chapman of Bourbon, Angie Dickson of Syracuse and Shelli (Ron) Sinkey of Hixson, Tenn.; 22 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; his mother, Julia Osborne of Warsaw; sisters: Ruby (Garnett) Newsome, Lynn (Joe) Ousley, Claudette Sybil (Phil) Gates and Wanda Lou Willard, all of Warsaw.
Visitation will take place from 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 17 at the Etna Green United Methodist Church.
Funeral services will take place at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Dec. 18 at the church.
Burial will follow at Etna Green cemetery.

Marc K. Ousnamer
NOTRE DAME — Fifty-two year-old Marc K. Ousnamer has been a familiar face on the campus of Notre Dame for the past 18 years and 11 days as a boiler operator in the power plant. Always reliable, he reported to work Sunday and in the early evening hours suffered an unexpected apparent heart attack.
Despite the appreciated best efforts of the Notre Dame Fire and EMS staff located nearby, Marc passed away at 6:39 p.m.
Marc was born in the Indianapolis area Dec. 8, 1957. He was raised in Plymouth, the son of Buddy Wayne and Jo (Lacher) Ousnamer.
He was a graduate of the Plymouth High School Class of 1976 and following graduation immediately joined the U.S. Navy in the spirit of serving his country. He continued to serve for eight years and became an expert boiler operator.
On Feb. 9, 1986 he took as his bride the former Debbie K. Bridgman, having made their home on West 6C Road in Plymouth. Marc’s easygoing nature was apparent in his lifestyle and treatment of others, which included being a multi-generational dog lover.
One pastime has been cutting wood for heating seasons the past several years in the company of Kevin and Zach. He enjoyed the likes of Blues and Jazz bands and solo times simply riding his bike.
He is survived by his wife Debbie; mother, Jo Ousnamer; and brother, Craig A. (Nancy) Ousnamer, all of Plymouth. His mother-in-law, Barb (Bob) Harmon also survives of North Judson.
Marc was preceded in death by his father, Bud and father-in-law Robert Bridgman.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, Dec. 16 from 5 to 8 p.m. in the Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan Street, Plymouth, where services will be held Thursday at 10:30 a.m. with the Rev. Charles Krieg officiating.

ARGOS — Sharon A. Dille, 73. of Argos, died at 12:51 a.m. Monday, Dec. 14, 2009 at her residence following a sudden illness.
She is survived by her husband Bill Dille; sons: Bob (Jane) Dille of Argos, Steve Dille of Argos, and Brian (Karen) Dille of Plainfield; a daughter, Vicki Dille of Argos; 11 grandchildren; six great grandchildren; brothers, Jim Thompson of Warsaw, and Terry Thompson of Argos; and a sister, Judy (Danny) Good of Argos.
Visitation will take place from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 16 at the Earl-Grossman Funeral Home, 208 N. Michigan St., Argos.
Funeral services will take place at 10 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 17 at the funeral home.
Burial will follow at Maple Grove cemetery, Argos.

WESTLAKE, OHIO — Sarita (Shrock) Graf, died Monday, Dec. 14, 2009 in Westlake, Ohio.
A graveside service will be held Saturday, Dec. 19, at 11 a.m. at the Union Center cemetery in Nappanee.

Elsie Maude Ringer
PLYMOUTH — Sweet infant, Elsie Maude Ringer of Plymouth, was born into Heaven at 2:16 p.m. Monday, Dec. 14 at Memorial Hospital, South Bend.
Elsie Maude is the precious daughter, who was dearly loved by her parents, Rodney and Jessica Faith Cannon Ringer.
She is survived by her twin brother Jacob Alfred Ringer; her loving maternal grandparents, Charles and Nancy Cannon of Leiters Ford; and her adoring paternal grandparents, Helen Ringer of Argos and Gene and Robbie Ringer of Culver. Elsie Maude was cherished by her great-grandparents Robert and Doris Kirkland of Riverview, Fla. along with numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
A celebration of Elsie Maude’s arrival to Heaven will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 21 at the Good Family Funeral Home, 1200 W. 18th St., Rochester. Friends may visit with her family two hours prior to her service. Pastor Robert Metzger will officiate.
Interment will be in the Washington cemetery, Culver.
Pamela K. Boyer
WINAMAC — Pamela K. Boyer, 61, died Tuesday, Dec. 15, 2009 in Parkview Hospital, Ft. Wayne.
She is survived by her fiancé, James Fuerst of Winamac and close friends, Norb and Helen Wilson of Winamac.
Visitation will take place from 9 to 11 a.m. (Central Time) Saturday, Dec. 19 at Rannells Funeral Home, Hamlet Chapel. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be given to the First Baptist Church of Winamac.

WINAMAC — Carl N. Manns, 32, died Tuesday, Dec. 15, 2009 in Winamac.
He is survived by a daughter, Danielle Manns of Plymouth; parents, Laureen Cooper of North Judson and Carl Manns of Knox; grandparents, Hester Manns of Knox and Marcells and Niles Cooper of DeMotte; sisters: Laureen Manns of Mishawaka, Stacy Leszek of North Judson and Carlynn Manns of Knox.
Visitation will take place from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. (Central Time) Friday, Dec. 18 at Rannells

Dorothy Elizabeth Booth
PLYMOUTH — Dorothy Elizabeth Booth, 92, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 16 at Pilgrim Manor, Plymouth.
Henriette (Dyhrberg) and Hans Hansen, Dorothy’s parents who immigrated from Denmark, were especially proud their daughter was born on America’s Independence Day July 4, 1917 in Detroit. Mich.
Prior to his death in 1992, she was married
for 52 years to her husband Douglas William Booth, living in southeastern Michigan until retiring and relocating to New Port Richey, Fla. in 1983. In 1993 she moved to Plymouth, Ind.
Dorothy was past president of the Oakland County Lawyers’ Wives of Michigan.
Throughout her life she was a dedicated volunteer at many churches, schools, and hospitals in the communities in which she lived. Her varied interests included gardening, reading, sewing, knitting, music, spectator sports, and playing cards. She and her husband loved to dance.
In her later years she especially enjoyed being present at the highlight reel events of her grandson. All children held a special place in her heart.
She is survived by her grandson, Douglas Hansen Booth and son, Robert Hansen Booth, both of Plymouth; and daughter, Constance (Arnold) Kummerow of Clinton Township, Mich.
Dorothy will be buried next to her loving husband and wonderful parents in Grand Lawn cemetery in Detroit.
Marla Jean Tom
SPRINGFIELD, Va. — Marla Jean Tom, 66, Springfield, Va, formerly of Argos, died at 1:45 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 16, 2009 at Hospice In-Care, Arlington, Va. She had battled cancer for nine years.
She was born Feb. 3, 1943 in Argos to Howard Sr. and Rosebud (Dinsmore) Ferrell. She grew up in Argos and moved to Virginia in 1961.
Marla married
Marvin Tom in August of 1978 in Virginia.
In September of 1961 she went to work for the CIA and retired in 2006 from the CIA, but continued to work for a private contractor for the CIA until three weeks ago.
Growing up in Argos she was a member of the Girls Rainbow Assembly and attended the Argos United Methodist Church. She was a graduate of Argos High School with the class of 1961.
She is survived by her husband Marvin; son, Jason Tom (and special friend Mindy) of Fairfax, Va.; mother, Rosebud Ferrell of Plymouth; sister, Deborah (Ron) Kline of Plymouth; nephew, Jeff (Ellen) Ferrell of Rochester; nieces, Amy (Rich) Miller of Argos and Traci (Larry) Tippmann of Cincinnati, Ohio; four great-nieces; and three great-nephews.
She is also survived by many wonderful friends.
She was preceded in death by her father, Howard Ferrell Sr.; a brother, Howard Ferrell Jr.; sisters, Sue and Terri Lee Ferrell; and nephews, Todd and Doug Ferrell.
Visitation will take place from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 23 at the Earl-Grossman Funeral Home, 208 N. Michigan St., Argos.
Funeral services will take place at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with Rev. Robert Rice officiating.
Burial will take place at Maple Grove cemetery, Argos.

Jessie Jane (Lax) Carlson
GROVERTOWN — Jessie Carlson, 69, passed away at home Dec. 17, 2009.
She was born Aug. 14, 1940 in East Chicago, Ind. to Forest and Mary (Budnyk) Lax. She married
Roger Carlson in 1960 and they moved to Plymouth in 1971.
Jessie worked for the Head Start Program in Plymouth for more than 20 years and retired in 2004. She was a member of the Evangelical Covenant Church in Donaldson.
Jessie had a passion for travel and went to Florida every February to keep her spirits up. Over the years, she visited Paris France, Venice, the island of Cypress, Puerto Rico, Havana Cuba, and Viet Nam.
Jessie was preceded in death by her husband Roger in 2005 and her parents. She is survived by her siblings: Marian (Lax) Hoffman of South Bend, Donald (Teresa) Lax of Crown Point, Jay (Helen) Lax of Hammond, Patsy (Lax) Ryan of Chesterton; in-laws: Carolyn (Carlson) Vinovich of Florida, Leonard and Nancy Carlson of LaPorte; children: Eric and Jasmin Carlson of Plymouth, Len and Brenda Carlson of Plymouth, and Dawn (Carlson) and Gregg Grubb of Angola; grandchildren: Kale, Kate and Ken Carlson, Morgan, McKenzie and Claire Grubb; one great-grandchild, Mylee Jane Grubb; and many nieces and nephews.
Jessie had a loving and courageous spirit that will be greatly missed. She loved spending time with her family and found a reason to enjoy every day. She lived her life with dignity and grace that her family will aspire to in years to come. Jessie wanted to make a difference in the fight against cancer and she donated her body to the I.U. Medical School for cancer research.
There will be a Celebration of Life Memorial Service at the Evangelical Covenant Church in Donaldson, Sunday, Dec. 20, 2009 at 4 p.m. (Eastern Time).
In lieu of flowers, Jessie requested that everyone perform a random act of kindness — smile at a stranger, take a friend to lunch, or do something to make someone’s day a little brighter.
Robert Gene Davenport
PLYMOUTH — Robert Gene Davenport, 80, of Plymouth, passed away at 6:45 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 17, 2009, at Miller's Merry Manor, in Plymouth, after having been released from Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center, two days prior.
Robert was born March 19, 1929, at home in LaPaz, to Allen R. and Hazel (Schroeder) Davenport. He spent most of his life growing up on a farm on King Road in Plymouth.
He graduated from Plymouth High School in the Class of 1947. He married
Jean O. McAfee Aug. 6, 1948. After her death in 2001, he found love again, and married
Carolyn Joyce (Staley) McAfee Sept. 3, 2006.
He retired from Reliance Electric, formerly Dodge Manufacturing Company, after working several years in the foundry. Bob enjoyed working with wood and later in life, enjoyed going to live theatre performances.
Robert is survived by his loving wife, Carolyn McAfee; his daughter, Jean E. Norwood of Des Moines, Iowa; his step-son, Lee and Renee McAfee; his step-daughter, Lynn Wilcox; his granddaughter, Angela J. Norwood; his grandson, Andrew Norwood; and his step-grandchildren: Jennifer McAfee, Mallory McAfee, and Ethan Wilcox. He was a favored uncle to many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Ginger in 2005; two sisters; and four brothers.
The family requests that memorial contributions be given to the Inwood United Methodist Church.

George was born May 16, 1943, in Regina, Ky. He was the son of Russell and Juanita Fleming.
They preceded him in death.
George had lived in the Marshall County area since 1978. He married
Shirley (Wilhelm) Overholser Dec. 14, 1991, in the Bourbon Country Church.
George was an OTR Semi-Truck Driver for most of his life. He enjoyed telling stories of his trips across the country. While his health still permitted, he was an avid fisherman and hunter.
He was a member of the Good News Baptist Church, of Plymouth, and loved to tell people of the saving grace of Jesus.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley Fleming of Plymouth; his son, Everett (Tosha) Fleming of Gulf Shores, Ala.; his daughters: Anita (Robert) Grizzell of Chatsworth, Ga., Elizabeth Partridge of Plymouth, and Jacqueline (Michael) Yates of Plymouth; his step-son, Daniel Overholser of Cocoa, Fla.; his brother, William (Evelyn) Fleming of Shelbyville, Ky.; six sisters: Betty Ostburg of Longview, Wash., Cora Gaither of Corpus Christi, Texas, Libby Edwards of Shelbyville, Ky., Alice Anderson of Pikeville, Ky., Jennifer (Sam) Rose of Ashcamp, Ky., and Deana Rhea Fleming of Georgetown, Ky.; his mother-in-law, Marie Wilhelm of Plymouth; his sister-in-law, Rose (Ed) Fritz of Plymouth; his brother-in-law, Kenneth (Linda) Wilhelm of Camden, Tenn.; 10 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

WALKERTON — William Edward Hartman, 65, of Walkerton, died Friday, Dec. 18, 2009 in Hospice House, South Bend.
He is survived by his wife, OnaLee “Onie” Northam: children: Matt Hartman, Ronnie Hartman, Robin Robinson and Melissa Hartman; step-children, Debbie (Tom) Hall and Alan (Angela) Northam; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; his mother, Mary Hartman; and one sister, Deloris Mayle.
Visitation will take place at 2 p.m. (EST) Monday, Dec. 21 until the time of service at Rannells Funeral Home, Koontz Lake Chapel.
Funeral services will take place Monday at 4 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will take place at a later date at the Woodlawn cemetery, Walkerton.

NAPPANEE — Esther Elizabeth Mullett, 90, Nappanee, died at 4:02 p.m. Friday, Dec. 18, 2009 at Bremen Healthcare.
She is survived by sons: Kenneth (Liz) Mullett of Nappanee, Paul E. (Sonja) Mullett of Nappanee and Eugene D. Mullett of Milford; eight grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Linda Miller of Nappanee.
Visitation will take place from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, Dec. 21 at North Main Street Mennonite
Church and one hour prior to services Tuesday.
Funeral services will take place at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 22 at the church.
Burial will follow at Hepton Union cemetery.
