Charles M. Grover
ARGOS – Charles M. Grover, 87, of North Grove Street Argos, passed away at 8:25 a.m.
Thursday, Nov. 26, at his residence after a courageous 40-year battle with cancer. His family
remained at his side.
Chuck was born at home in Plymouth, the son of Harry B. and Myrtle May (Smith) Grover on
Dec. 21, 1921. He was a lifetime Plymouth/Argos area resident.
On June 25, 1960 in Plymouth he took as his bride the former Dolores M. Pletcher who survives.
Together they worked for the Bendix Corporation; Chuck for 30 years as an assembler. They did
many things together in their 49 years of marriage like raising two daughters and experiencing
their families develop while enjoying the grandchildren and great-grandchildren as well as
traveling to 49 different states.
Chuck accomplished various activities in his life; like his solo flight and pilot’s license from
Plymouth Municipal Airport, playing the steel guitar and organ, gardening large patches of
ground including success with pear trees and grape vineyard. He also enjoyed fishing,
completing jigsaw puzzles and assisting with tasks at the upholstery shop.
He is survived by his wife Dolores, two daughters; Donna L. (Dwight) Hite of Culver and their
children; Nicole, Travis and Cody and Barbara A. (Bruce) Pearson of Argos and their families;
Kristin (Tony) Lidgard and April (Adam) Tener along with great-grandchildren; Morgan Hite, Kalei
Carlton and Riley Tener.
A sister-in-law; Maxine Grover of Plymouth also survives with several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers; Marvin and his wife Edith Grover and
Lester Grover.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 29, 2009 from 1 to 3 p.m. in the Johnson-Danielson
Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan St. Plymouth where services will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday
with the Rev. Leonard Jackson officiating.
Burial will follow services in the Poplar Grove cemetery, on S.R. 10 west of Argos.

Larry Lee McConkey
BAXTER, Tenn. — Larry Lee McConkey, 67 of Baxter, Tenn., died at 9:45 p.m. Thursday, Nov.
26, 2009 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center, Cookeville, Tenn.
He is survived by children Crystal (Steve) Duke of Nashville, Tenn. and Shad (Kerri) McConkey
of Avon, Ind.
Visitation will take place from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 29 at Good Family Funeral Home, 1200
West 18th Street, Rochester.
Funeral services will take place Sunday at 3 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorials in lieu of flowers may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
Donald W. Frazier
HAMLET — Donald W. Frazier, 74, died Saturday, Nov. 28, at 7:44 p.m. in LaPorte Hospital.
Donald was born July 12, 1935, in Hamlet, IN, to William and Elsie (Edwards) Frazier and lived
in the area all of his life. He is survived by his wife, Carol, of Hamlet, IN; two sons, Richard
(Deann) Frazier of Knox, and Donald P. Frazier, Sr. of Hamlet; one daughter, Phyllis (Curt)
Mustard of Grovertown; two brothers, Gerald Frazier of LaCrosse, IN, and William Frazier of
New York; seven grandchildren, Curt Jr., Christopher, Amanda, Abagail, Tom, Don Jr., and
Tiffany; and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Wednesday at 1 p.m. CST at Rannells Funeral Home, Hamlet Chapel
with Rev. Rose Woodke officiating.
Burial will be at the Fletcher cemetery, Hamlet.
Friends may call Wednesday two hours prior to the services at the funeral home.

BOURBON — Dave Hostetler, 61, of Bourbon, died Friday, Nov. 27, 2009 at 7 a.m. at his
residence after a one-year struggle with cancer.
He is survived by his wife Naomi; son, Davy Hostetler of Bourbon; daughters: Heidi (Floyd) King
of Leola, Pa. and Melanie (Vancen) Miller of Bourbon; four grandchildren; brothers: Andy
(Nancy) Hostetler of Nappanee, Eli (Katie) Hostetler of Farmington, Mo., Daniel (Carol) Hostetler
of Utica, Ohio, Mark (Cathy) Hostetler of Bremen, Nathan (Miriam) Hostetler of Martinsburg,
Ohio and Jonathon Hostetler of Mt. Perry, Ohio; sisters: Sylvia (Pete) Wagler of Cochranton,
Pa., Bertha (Richard) Miller of Martinsburg, Ohio, Ruth Hostetler of Martinsburg, Ohio, Karen
(Vern) Garber of Strawberry, Ark., and Laura Hostetler of Cumberland, Md.
Visitation will take place from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 Saturday, Nov. 28 and Sunday, Nov. 29 from 2 to
4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Sandy Ridge Mennonite Church, Bourbon.
Funeral services will take place Monday, Nov. 30 at 10 a.m. at Nappanee Missionary Church.
Burial will follow at Bethel Conservative Church cemetery, Nappanee.

David W. Gerrard
PLYMOUTH — David W. Gerrard, 63, of Plymouth, died at 11:35 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 28, 2009,
at the VA Northern Indiana Health Care System in Fort Wayne.
He is survived by his sons: Eric Gerrard of Lakeville and James Gerrard of Alaska; daughters:
Amanda (Brian) Tobolski of Plymouth and Amelia Hibner of Argos; and a nephew.
A Memorial Service will be held Sunday, Dec. 6 at 2 p.m., at the Faith Christian Chapel, 20876
Pierce Road, Lakeville.

David Lee Upp
ROCHESTER — David Lee Upp, 76, of Rochester, died Nov. 28, at 11:47 a.m. at his residence.
He is survived by his son, Jerry Upp of Fisher, W.V.; sister-in-law, Kathie Adams and husband
Kevin of Rochester; brother-in-law Charles Wallace of Lafayette; and amily friends: Marcia Utter
of Kewanna and Calvin Reffett and wife Verna Lee of Rochester, as well as several nieces,
nephews and cousins.
A celebration of the life of David Lee Upp will be Tuesday, Dec. 1 at 10 a.m. at the Good Family
Funeral Home, 1200 West 18th St., Rochester.
The Rev. Bill Chappel, Rochester Fire Department chaplain, will officiate. Friends may visit with
his family from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday and an hour prior to his service.
He will be honored with military and firefighter’s rites.

Doris Ellen (Senff) Weaver
LAPAZ — Doris Ellen (Senff) Weaver, 84, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus
Christ at 6:17 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 28, 2009, at her home in LaPaz.
She was born July 27, 1925, in Bremen, to Harvey Delbert and Laura Mae (Leeper) Senff. She
married
Elson Elias Weaver Aug. 14, 1944. He preceded her in death on June 15, 1997.
A lifetime resident of Marshall County, Doris lived around the Argos and Plymouth areas and
attended school in Argos.
She was a dedicated housewife and mother. She worked at Stauffer’s (United Foam) factory in
Bremen and after its closing she was a successful Avon Representative and won many awards.
She and her husband were owners/operators of Weaver’s Kitchen Elephant Ear Concessions
from 1983 to 2004 and organized the LaPaz Community Craft Show for 19 years.
She attended New Song Community Church in Plymouth with her family. She is survived by 10
children: Sandy (Jerry) Jackson of Warsaw, Nelson Eugene (Video) Weaver of Rochester, John
(Sue) Weaver of Arkansas, Mary Joan (John) Thomas of Walkerton, Pam (Terry) Hansen and
Donald (Vicki) Weaver, all of Bremen, Charles (Alma) Weaver of Mishawaka, Patricia Roberts
and Anita (Ron) Belt, all of LaPaz, and Angela Smith of Plymouth; three sisters: Vera Heinke and
Bonnie (Harold) Bagley, all of Bremen, and Thelma (Dave) Miller of Walkerton; and two brothers:
Robert Senff of Illinois and Russell (Fern) Senff of Arizona. She is also survived by a step-son-inlaw,
Herb Crone of South Bend; 26 grandchildren; 55 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great grandchildren.
Along with her loving husband of 52 years, Doris was preceded in death by her parents;
stepdaughter, Patsy Crone; two brothers: Eldon and Delbert Senff; and four sisters: Arlena
Emerick, Mae Twattle, Lucille Sarber and Lomeda Laudeman.
Friends may call from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at New Song Community Church, 400 N.
Kingston Rd., in Plymouth. The Revs. Justin Chambers, Jim Gilmer, and Rick Gaul will officiate
a memorial service immediately following at the church.
Burial will follow at Oakhill cemetery in Plymouth.

Alvin Beery
BREMEN — Alvin Berry, 74, of Bremen, died Sunday, Nov. 29, 2009 at Bremen Health Care Center.
He is survived by his wife, Charlene; son, Shawn Beery; daughters: Kim Dunning, Gina (Sonya
Stutzman) Beery; two grandchildren; one great-grandson and sister, Pat (Dennis) Richey.
Visitation will take place from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 2 at Mishler Funeral Home, 2030
S.R. 331, Bremen.
Funeral services will take place at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 3 at the funeral home.
Burial will follow at Bremen cemetery.

George Richard "Dick" Danielson
SARASOTA, Fla. — George Richard “Dick” Danielson, 82, of Sarasota, died Nov. 29, 2009.
He is survived by his wife Phyllis; daughter Mary Foxwell of Indianapolis; and two grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Dec. 10 at Faith Lutheran Church, Sarasota.

Manor, Plymouth.
She is survived by two grandchildren.

MICHIGAN CITY — Sandra S. (Brodbelt) Lewis, 52, of Michigan City, formerly of Plymouth, died
Sunday, Nov. 29, 2009 at her residence.
She is survived by daughters: Bobbie Jo, Jennifer, Sarah, Jessica and Diana Lewis, all of
Michigan City; sons: Kevin Gaines of LaPorte and Robert Lewis of Michigan City; mother, Elsie
Brodbelt of Plymouth; sister, Connie Garman of Argos; brothers: Glenn Brodbelt Jr. of Plymouth,
David Brodbelt of South Whitley and Rex Brodbelt of Plymouth; and 11 grandchildren.
Visitation will take place from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 3 at Johnson-Danielson Funeral
Home, 1100 N. Michigan St., Plymouth.
Funeral services will take place at 1 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Burial will follow at New Oakhill cemetery, Plymouth.

Marie Viola Mitchell Postewaite
METAMORA, Ill. — Marie Viola Mitchell Postlewaite, 98, of Metamora, Ill., formerly of Loda, Ill.,
and Plymouth, Ind. passed away Nov. 9, 2009.
She was born in Culver July 17, 1911 the daughter of Oden and Pearl Nifong Mitchell. She
married
James C. Postlewaite Sept. 21, 1930.
Marie is survived by four daughters: Jeanie (Richard) Miller of Plymouth, Sandra Mulberry of
Metamora, Ill., Peg (Gene) Simon of Missoula, Mont., and Judy (Virgil) Martin of Venice, Fla.; 11
grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
A service for the celebration of the life of Marie Viola Mitchell Postlewaite will take place at 3:30
p.m. Sunday, May 30 at the United Methodist Church in Loda, Ill.
