ROCHESTER — Flossie Eash Beatty, 83, Rochester, died Saturday, Nov. 7, 2009 Woodlawn Hospital.
She is survived by her husband, Loren; sons: Dennis Guyer and Gary Beatty, both of Rochester;
five grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
A public graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 10 at the Akron cemetery.
There will be no visitation. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.
Good Family Funeral Home, 1200 W. 18th St., Rochester was entrusted with arrangements.

Ellen "Eloise" Edging
PLYMOUTH — Ellen “Eloise”Edging, 83, 6th St., Plymouth, passed away peacefully in Miller’s
Merry Manor, Plymouth, at 11:55 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 7, 2009.
Ellen was born in Logansport Dec. 30, 1925. She was the daughter of Harry and Hattie Shearer
Bopp. She graduated from Logansport High School in 1944. On May 29, 1958, in Logansport,
she and Samuel Edging were married .
For several years Ellen was the Administrative Assistant at Divine Heart Seminary. She enjoyed
fishing vacations in Minnesota and loved her golden retriever, Bailey.
Ellen is survived by Sam, her husband of 51 years; and by their son, John R. and daughter-inlaw,
Gayle, Vautaw of Walton, Ind.; and their daughter, Sue Edging of South Bend.
Ellen was preceded in death by her parents.
Friends are invited to share memories and visit with the family from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday,
Nov. 11, 2009, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan St., Plymouth.
Funeral services, officiated by the Rev. Father Bernard Galic, will be held at 10 a.m. in the
funeral home Thursday, Nov. 12, 2009, in the funeral home.
Burial will be in the Camden cemetery in Camden, Ind.
Memorial gifts may be made to the Marshall County Humane Society P.O. Box 22 Plymouth, IN,
46563.

Bob Tharp
ROCHESTER — Bob Tharp, 87, of Rochester, died at 8:10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 7, 2009 at Life
Care Center, Rochester.
He is survived by his wife Dee; daughters: Cathy Lowe of Rochester and Peggy Sue (Clem)
Smith of Osceola; four grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
Visitation will take place from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, Nov. 9 and one hour prior to services Tuesday
at Good Family Funeral Home, 1200 W. 18th St., Rochester.
Funeral services will take place Tuesday, Nov. 10 at 10 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will
follow at IOOF cemetery.

Linda S. Brashere
GROVERTOWN-Linda S. Brashere, 62, died Sunday, Nov. 8, 2009 in Porter Hospital, Valparaiso Campus.
She is survived by her husband, Norman; a daughter, Norma (Kirk) Schubert of Donaldson; a
son, Nick Tankersley of Chesterton; five grandchildren; sisters: Nina Kizerthershman, Judy
Witten and Donna Whitaker; and brothers: Gerald Bastin and John Zimmerle.
Visitation will take place Friday, Nov. 13 from 5 to 8 p.m. (Central Time) and Saturday one hour
prior to the service at Rannells Funeral Home, Hamlet Chapel.
Funeral services will be Saturday at 1 p.m. a the funeral chapel. Burial will be in the Grovertown
cemetery.

Margaret E. Furnas
MENTONE — Margaret E. Furnas, 85, if Mentone, died Sunday, Nov. 8, 2009 at Kosciusko Community Hospital.
She is survived by her children: Sandra Schaefer of Mentone, Stephen Furnas of Prescott, Ariz.,
Cynthia (Jonathan) Rightmeyer of Moohrsville, Pa., C.R. “Bob” (Michele) Furnas of Naples, Fla.,
Mary Sarkisian of Orlando, Fla., and Joseph (Tamara) Furnas of Altamonte Springs, Fla.; 12
grandchildren; eight grandchildren; and sisters: Maxine Collins of Fort Wayne and Betty Jo Rodenbeck of Huntington.
There will be no visitation or funeral services.
Deaton-Clemens Funeral Home, 115 S. Main St., Bourbon was entrusted with arrangements.

Lucille T. Giarraputo
PLYMOUTH — Lucille T. Giarraputo, 88, of Naperville, Ill., formerly of Plymouth, died of natural
causes at 5:29 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 8, 2009, in the Tabor Hills Heath Care facility.
Lucille was born in Chicago, Jan. 22, 1921. She was the daughter of Daniel and Felicia
(Massaro) Purciarello. She graduated from Chicago’s McKinley High School in 1939.
On June 7, 1941, in Chicago at the Holy Family Catholic Church, Lucille became the bride of
Frank Giarraputo. Frank died Dec. 4, 1999.
A homemaker first, Lucille moved to the Plymouth/Donaldson area from Chicago in 1950. An
expert in the marketing field, she worked for Divine Heart Seminary for 10 years, retiring in 1979.
She enjoyed the Chicago Cubs baseball games and loved the time she spent with her children
and grandchildren.
A member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church and its’ Altar Rosary, she was active with Harvest
House and was an associate of the Poor Handmaids of Jesus Christ and the Friendly 30 Club.
Lucille is survived by two daughters: Marianne F. (Robert) McKee of Boston, Ky. and Sandra A.
Pogorelec of Naperville, Ind. Seven grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren, in addition to
several nieces and nephews, survive as well.
She was preceded in death by her spouse, four brothers and three sisters.
Friends are invited to visit with Lucille’s family from 11 to 1 p.m. at St. Michael’s Church, 612 N,
Center St., Plymouth, Saturday, Nov. 14, 2009.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Lucille will follow the visitation at 1 p.m. The Rev. Father William
Kummer will officiate.
Entombment will be in the New Oakhill Mausoleum.
The Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Memorial gifts in Lucille’s memory may be given to St. Michael’s School, 612 N. Center Street,
Plymouth, IN, 46563.

Zigmund M. Napierkowski
WALKERTON — Zigmund M. Napierkowski II, 30, died Monday, Nov. 9, 2009 in Memorial Hospital.
He is survived by his wife Lisa; a daughter, Charity Napierkowski of Walkerton; a son, Martin
Napierkowski of Walkerton; his parents: Tina Napierkowski and Zigmund NapierkowskiI, both of
Ober; two sisters: Tracy Clary of Knox and Nicole Napierkowski of Winamac; one brother, Bryan
Napierkowski of Walkerton; and grandfather, Ken (Doris) Ross Sr. of Hamlet.
Visitation will take place Thursday, Nov. 12 from 1 p.m. (Central Time) until the time of services
at Rannells Funeral Home, Hamlet Chapel. Funeral services will be Thursday at 3 p.m. In lieu of
flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the funeral home.

Eldon D. Roth
WESTFIELD — Eldon D. Roth, 74, of Westfield, formerly of Bremen, died Monday, November 9,
2009 at the Maple Park Village in Westfield.
He is suriveved by daughters: Deborah (Charles) Hudson of Westfield and Shirley (Russell)
Shapland of Elkhart; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two sisters: Carol (Gordon)
Hardy of Bremen and Rita Stanifer of Bremen; and brother, Bruce (Sherry) Roth of La Vergne, Tenn.
Visitation will take place from noon until time of services Friday, Nov. 13 at the Mishler Funeral
Home, Bremen.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may
be made to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Bremen.

Alfred L. Ryan
FORT WAYNE — Alfred L. Ryan, 73, of Fort Wayne, died Monday, Nov. 9, 2009 at 12:30 a.m.
at The Waters of Summit City Nursing Home, Fort Wayne following a lengthy illness.
He was born July 26, 1936 in Hammond to James Ivan Ryan Sr. and Ethel (Adams) Ryan and
married Barbara S. (Lacefield) Ryan March 11, 1957 in Rochester.
He and his wife have lived in Fort Wayne the last four years, moving there from Rochester. Ryan
was an over-the-road truck driver, retiring in 2000.
He served in the United States Air Force from May 27, 1955 to May 29, 1958 where he obtained
the rank of Airman Third Class.
He is survived by his wife Barbara Ryan; sons: Ronald (Melody) Ryan of Fayetteville, N.C., Kevin
(Tammy) Ryan of Lakeland, Fla., James Ryan III and his wife Gina of Norfolk, Va.; daughters:
Bunnie Sullivan of Fort Wayne, Laurie (Brad) Rice of Papillion, Neb., Linda (Michael) Seewer of
Louisville, Ky.; 19 grandchildren; one great-grandson; and a sister, Donna Kamp of Argos.
He as preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and three brothers.
Friends may visit with the family Wednesday, Nov. 11 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Earl-Grossman
Funeral Home, 208 N. Michigan St., Argos.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 12 at the funeral home with Chaplin Charles
Glenn officiating.
Burial will take place at the New Oakhill cemetery, Plymouth.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association; Chicago, Ill. Office;
30 North Michigan Ave., Suite 2015, Chicago, IL, 60602.
Earl-Grossman Funeral Home, Argos, was entrusted with arrangements.

Tina Shutske
BREMEN — Tina Shutske, 55, of Bremen, died Monday, Nov. 9, at her residence following
complications from a bone marrow transplant.
She is survived by her husband, Laurence; daughters: Rachel (Anthony) Kauffman of Nappanee
and Sarah (Roger) Shepherd of Nappanee; a son, Nathan (Whitney) Wood of Jacksonville, Fla.;
step-daughters: Anna Shutske of Milford and Margaret (Will) Wright of Bremerton, Wash.; a
step-son, Gerald (Chelsey) Shutske of Fargo, N.D.; seven grandchildren; sisters: Sharon (Lyle)
Staffen of Angola, Shirley (Ted) Conrad of South Bend and Terri (Bob) Steffan of Charlotte,
N.C.; brothers: Ron (Barb) Meister of Mishawaka and Bryan (Stacy) Meister of Marshall, Mich.
Visitation will take place from 2 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 11 at the Mishler Funeral Home,
Bremen. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 12 at the Agape Fellowship
Church, Bremen. Burial will follow at the Bremen cemetery. Memorial contributions may be
made to the Agape Fellowship Church, Bremen.

Sister Charlette, PHJS Hess
DONALDSON — Sister Charlette Hess, PHJS, 87, died Tuesday, Nov. 10, 2009 at Catherine
Kasper Life Center, Donaldson.
Visitation will take place Thursday, Nov. 12 from 4:30 to 9 p.m. at Catherine Kasper Life Center,
Donaldson. Funeral services will take place Friday, Nov. 13 at 11 a.m. at the Catherine Kasper
Life Center. Burial will follow at Mount Carmel cemetery, Donaldson. Johnson-Danielson
Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

James D. "J.D." Watson
PLYMOUTH — James D. “J.D.” Watson, 57, of Plymouth, died Tuesday, Nov. 10, at 4:20 a.m. at his home.
J.D. is survived by his mother, Jean Watson of Plymouth; his son, Gabrielle Gamall of California;
his sisters, Andrea “Andy” and Stan Bunch of Columbus, Ind., Sara Lisa and Dan Doody of
Bourbon, Jennifer Sue and Tom Read of Plymouth; his brothers, Bill and Lois Watson of
Plymouth, Timothy A. “Homer” and Jeannie Watson of Plymouth, Charles M. and Della Watson
of Argos, and Jon G. and Kathy Watson of Rochester. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.
There will be no visitation. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Van Gilder Funeral
Home, Plymouth, is handling arrangements.

Susan Elizabeth Davis Davis
INDIANAPOLIS — Susan Elizabeth Davis, 55, of Indianapolis, died Nov. 11, 2009 in her home
after a lengthy battle with cancer.
Survivors include her children, Jeremy (Jill) Watson of Covington, Ky. and Samantha Watson of
Indianapolis; granddaughter, Camryn Watson of Covington, Ky.; parents, William and Alma Jean
Davis of North Judson; five sisters, Jennifer Davis (Charles) of Knox, Laura (Mike) Sharkozy of
North Judson, Stephanie Hochstedler of Indianapolis, Barbara Davis of Dublin, Ohio and
Margaret (Corky) Christoff of Mt. Airy, Md.; two brothers, Bill (Cheryl) Davis of Knox, and Jack
(Cindy) Davis of North Judson; 19 nieces and nephews; and seven great-nieces and greatnephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, Nov. 13, at 11 a.m. (EST) at Holy Spirit at Geist
Catholic Church, 10350 Glaser Way, Fishers, Ind., with visitation from 9:30 a.m. until time of
Mass at 11 a.m.
Graveside services will be held at St. Jacob cemetery in North Judson, Saturday, Nov. 14, at 1 p.m. (EST).
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Starke County Community
Foundation for Carolyn J. Davis Memorial Fund, in memory of Susan E. Davis.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Shirley Brothers Fishers-Castleton Chapel.
