Edward "Ray", Sr. Hostetler
WALKERTON — Edward “Ray” Hostetler Sr., 80, passed away Wednesday, June 3, 2009 in his
home after an illness. Ray was born Dec. 17, 1928 in Walkerton to Edward R. and Evelyn M.
(Gray) Hostetler and lived most of his life in the Walkerton area. On May 4, 1949 in Roseland, he
was married
to the former Delores Adams, who survives. Also surviving are two daughters:
Roberta (Victor) Quick of Niles, Mich. and Connie (Bud) Marek of Rockport, Texas; four
grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.
Ray was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII and a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Korean Conflict. He
was a member of the North Liberty VFW Post #1954 and a past-member of the Walkerton
American Legion. He was a former employee of Bendix Corp. in South Bend, the owner of Ray’s
Radiator Shop in Walkerton and a former Reserve Officer for the Walkerton Police Department.
A graveside service will be held Monday at 1 p.m. (Eastern Time) at Morris cemetery, Walkerton
with Pastor Tom Padberg officiating. Military graveside services will be conducted. Rannells
Funeral Home, Koontz Lake Chapel, is handling arrangements.
Michael D. Callahan
ROCHESTER — Michael D. Callahan, 54, of Poets Dr., Rochester, Ind., died at 7:15 a.m., June
5, 2009 at Memorial Hospital, South Bend.
He is survived by his wife; Karen at home; two daughters: Kristy (Noel) Christopher of Chicago
and Amy Callahan of Indianapolis; his mother, Joanne of Rochester; father: David (Suzanne)
Callahan of Ft. Wayne, Ind.; a sister: Keri (Phillip) Jacobs of Wolcottville; two brothers: Larry
(Sandy) Callahan of Fowler, Ind. And Dan (Cindy) Callahan of Fremont, Ind.; his mother-in-law,
Ruby Jackson of Rochester and six nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m., Saturday, June 13, 2009 at the Lake Manitou home of
Kenny and Julie Anderson, 2807 Goose Pond Rd., Rochester.
Memorials may be made to the Northern Indiana Community Foundation or the Lake Manitou
Association. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
Good Family Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements.
Flora Lee Doelling
VALPARAISO — Flora Lee Doelling, 73, died Friday, June 5, 2009 in Horton VNA Hospice
Center, Valparaiso, Ind.
She is survived by one son, Gary Collins of Kouts, Ind.; four daughters: Connie Podolsky of St.
Louis, Mo., Karrie Lewandowski of Valparaiso, Sherrie Morrison of Wrightwood, Calif., and
Bonnie Stoerck of Noblesville; one step-son, Craig Doelling of Boone Grove; one step-daughter,
Carole Armstrong of Algonquin, Ill. And 17 grandchildren.
Private graveside services will be held at a later date.

Stanley Marvin Huff
NAPPANEE — Stanley Marvin Huff, 74, of West 1350 North, Nappanee, died Friday, June 5,
2009 at 2:55 p.m. at Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center, Plymouth.
He is survived by brothers: Russell L. (Mildred) Huff of Nappanee and DeVoe (Phyllis) Huff of
Nappanee; and sisters: Margaret R. Chandler of Elkhart and Martha J. (LeeRoy) Love of Nappanee.
Visitation will take place from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Thompson-Lengacher & Yoder Funeral
Home, 950 N. Main St. Nappanee Monday, June 8, 2009.
Funeral services will take place Tuesday, June 9, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. at Nappanee United
Methodist Church.
Burial will follow at Bremen cemetery.
Bill R. Montague
FORT MYERS, Fla. — Bill R. Montague age 82 of Fort Myers, Fla., and formerly of the Bourbon
area, passed away Friday, June 5 in his home unexpectedly.
Bill was born in Bourbon on March 17, 1927 to Herman Montague and Orpha Faulkner Montague.
Bill was a retired truck driver for many years driving for Everly Trucking, Gochenour Trucking
and Ecker trucking all of Bourbon. He was a member of the Judah Christian Church.
He married
on July 6, 1948 to Rosemary McGriff, who passed away on April 24, 1992. He then
married
Irene Waltz who survives along with his four children: Debra (Bill) Sipple of Fort Myers,
Fla., Roseann “Ann” (Dick) Tracy of North Manchester, Jim Montague of Warsaw and Bill Jr.
(Audrey) Montague of Arkansas. He also has eight grandchildren; two-step grandchildren; seven
great-grandchildren; and his sister, Silvia Holloway of Bourbon. Bill has three step-sons: Adrian
(Pete) Conover, David (Penny) Conover and Mark Conover, Sr. along with several step-grand
and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by an infant daughter Tammy Jo in 1963 and his brothers.
A celebration of Bill’s life will be at 10 a.m. Friday, June 12 in the United Pentecostal Church with
Rev. Mark Cottrill officiating.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday, in the Deaton-Clemens Funeral Home
and for one hour before services in the church on Friday.
Burial will follow in the Pleasant Hill cemetery west of Bourbon.
Deaton-Clemens Funeral Home is in charge of local arrangements.
Mariam I. Johnson
HAMLET-Mariam I Johnson, 62, died Saturday, June 6, 2009 in Millers Merry Manor, Plymouth.
She is survived by one sister, Jane Hall of Fulton; one brother, Roy Johnson of Rochester; five
nephews; one great-niece and her companion, Harry Miller of Westville.
Visitation will take place Tuesday, June 9, 2009 from 4 p.m. (CDT) until the time of services at
Rannells Funeral Home, Hamlet Chapel.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, at 8 p.m. at the funeral home with Father Anthony Spanley
officiating.
A graveside service will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. at the Center E.U.B. Church cemetery in
Galveston, Ind.
Memorial contributions may be given to the Starke County Historical Society.
Becky S. Leininger
LAPAZ — Becky S. Leininger, 65, of LaPaz, passed away at 3:55 p.m. Saturday, June 6, 2009 in
the Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center, Plymouth. She was born Dec. 9, 1943 in Plymouth to
Clyde and Margaret (Berry) Hummel. She married
Kent Leininger, who preceded her in death.
Mrs. Leininger is survived by two daughters: Kimberly Leed of Walkerton and Wendy (Dave)
Tapia of Plymouth; two sons: Shane (Shelli) Leed of Lakeville and Tracy Leed of LaPaz; 10
grandchildren: Chris, Travis, Tiffany, Summer, Josey, Shaylee, Haley, Hanna, Paige and Easton;
two great-grandchildren: Braxton and Kyle. She is also survived by three sisters: Carol Dove of
Plymouth, Dian (Alton) Hershberger of Union, Mich. and Gwen (James) McGrath of Slidell, La.;
and three brothers: Jerry (Ellen) Hummel of Walkerton, Rex (Theresa) Hummel of LaPaz and
Wes Hummel of Bremen.
Three sisters: Joan Roberts, Bonnie Porter and Sandy Hummel and brother, Carl Hummel
preceded her in death.
Mrs. Leininger was a lifelong area resident. She graduated from LaPaz High School. Mrs.
Leininger was employed at Wheel Horse for 25 years and retired from Allied Screw Products
after 14 years of service. She loved to bake wedding cakes, to clean and work outside on her
home. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary in LaPaz,
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 10, 2009 in the Palmer Funeral
Home, 314 S. Michigan St., Lakeville. Burial will follow in Fair cemetery, North Liberty. Friends
may visit with the family from 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home.

Diana Michelle Norris
NORTH LIBERTY — Diana Michelle Norris, 32, of North Liberty, died Saturday, June 6, 2009 at
6:35 p.m. at Hospice House of South Bend.
She is survived by her parents, Steven and Sandra Norris of Pottsboro, Texas; daughter, Aerial
Bryan of Argos; son, Aiden Norris of Goshen; sister, Amber Norris of Euless, Texas; and
brothers: Michael and Jon Norris of Pottsboro, Texas.
Cremation has taken place with burial at a later date. Burial will be at Maple Grove cemetery,
Argos.

Margaret O. Bair
ROCHESTER — Margaret O. Bair, 91, of Rochester, died at 7:35 p.m. Sunday, June 7, 2009 in her home.
She is survived by her husband, James; two sons: Tom (Sue) Bair of Rochester and Steven R.
Bair of Cumming, Ga.; four grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, June 13 in the Good Family Funeral Home, 1200 W. 18th St.,
Rochester. Visitation is one hour prior to the service.
Memorials may be made to Hope Hospice of Fulton County.
Vada M. Kline
PLYMOUTH — Vada M. Kline, 84, a lifetime Plymouth resident, died at 1 p.m. Sunday, June 7,
2009 in Miller’s Merry Manor, Plymouth, after a lengthy illness.
The daughter of Oliver L. and Arvilla M. Bellman Trowbridge, Vada was born on April 15, 1925 in
Plymouth. She was a 1943 graduate of Lincoln High School.
On July 20, 1945, Vada and Lowell W. Kline were married
in Plymouth. Lowell preceded her in
death on May 14, 1983.
Vada had worked for Plymouth Community Schools for 25 years, as school secretary at
Jefferson Elementary and Lincoln Jr. High, and was the Financial Secretary at Plymouth High
School when she retired in 1987.
She was a member of Delta Theta Tau, Eastern Star, the Hospital Auxillary, various election
boards, Democratic Ladies, Band Boosters, Athletic Boosters, United Way, Heart Fund, Red
Cross, Campfire and the First Presbyterian Church where she was a member of the U.P.W.
Vada is survived by two daughters: Linda (Jim) Kepler and Debra Drubert, both of Plymouth;
three grandchildren: Lori (Terry) Allen, Stacy (Paul) Guerin and Dan Drubert and two great grandchildren:
Joshua and Benjamin Allen.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Lowell.
Friends are invited to share their memories of Vada with her family on Wednesday, June 10,
2009, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan St., Plymouth.
Funeral services for Vada, officiated by the Rev. Jean Sparks, pastor of the First Presbyterian
Church, will follow visitation at 2 p.m. in the funeral home.
Private burial will take place in New Oakhill cemetery, Plymouth, at a later date.
Memorial gifts may be made to the Marshall County Humane Society.
Marguriet Quimbly
ARGOS — Marguriet Quimby, 78, of Argos, died at 1:45 a.m. Monday, June 8, 2009 at
Woodlawn Hospital of Rochester, following a brief illness. She was born Aug. 25, 1930 in
Cheraw, Colo. to Ray Stanley and Thomas Clyde (Whitehead) Carlisle. On Oct. 8, 1949 in
Goshen, she married
Ernest Lamar Quimby Sr. He preceded her in death May 31, 2003.
She lived in the Argos Community since 1948 coming from Colorado
She was a seamstress at Hart, Schaffner, & Marx in Rochester for 25 years. She retired in 1995.
She is survived by three daughters: Valerie Wallis and companion Sharron Anderson of Ft.
Wayne, Marguriet (Peg) Quimby and companion Rae Stutzman of Beaver Dam and Pixie Dawn
Harness of Argos; five sons: Ronald Lamar (Karen) Quimby of Argos, Stanley Martin (Susan)
Quimby of South Bend, Thomas Clyde (Chris) Quimby of Argos, Ernest Lamar Quimby Jr. of
Rochester and Michael Olive (Jennifer) Quimby of Argos; 17 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren;
two sisters: Delia May (Melvin) Stevenson of New Mexico and Olive Wallace of
Colorado; and one brother, Stanley (Imo Gene) Carlisle of Kansas.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and a sister.
Friends may visit with the family Wednesday, June 10 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Earl-Grossman
Funeral Home, 208 N. Michigan St., Argos. Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 11 at the
funeral home with Rev. Valerie Wallis officiating. Burial will be at the Maxinkuckee I.O.O.F.
cemetery, Culver.
