Ralph Edward Jones
ARGOS — Ralph Edward Jones, 79, of Argos died Sunday, May 24 at 7:10 p.m. at his
residence following a two-year illness.
He was born Sept. 8, 1929 in Dectaur, Ill. to Revie E. and Myrtle (Shoemaker) Jones.
He had lived in the Argos community for 40 years, moving from Cerro Gordo, Ill. in 1969.
On April 2, 1960 in Berne, he married
Caro J. (Moser) Jones.
He was a life-long farmer. He attended the Argos United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Caro J. Jones; daughters, Sara A. (Jeff) Smith of Argos
and Sandra L. (Jim) Ringer of Plymouth; son, Randall S. (Cammy) Jones of Plymouth;
grandchildren, Brooke Stults of South Bend; Justin Stults, Courtney Ringer and Kirsten Ringer,
all of Plymouth; step-grandchildren, David Messer of Culver and James Messer of Knox; four
step-great-grandchildren; brothers, Ivan Jones of Cerro Gordon, Ill. and Denver (Lucille) Jones
of Plymouth; sisters, Helen Jones of Champaign, Ill. and Evelyn (Francis) Barr of North
Manchester.
He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and one sister.
Friends may visit with the family Thursday, May 28 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Earl-Grossman
Funeral Home, 208 N. Michigan St., Argos and one hour prior to the funeral services.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, May 29 at the Argos United Methodist Church, 540 N.
Michigan St., Argos, with Rev. Ken Walker of the church officiating.
Burial will be at Maple Grove cemetery, Argos.

Norma Elaine Kosmalski
RIPLEY, W. Va. — Norma Elaine Kosmalski, 93, of Ripley, W. Va., went home to be with her
Lord on Sunday, May 24, 2009 at the Ravenswood Care Center, Ravenswood, W. Va. She was
a former resident of South Bend.
Norma was born on March 8, 1916, in Fulton. She was the daughter of the late Walter A. Wood
and Gladys F. Harpster Wood Dean.
In addition to her mother and father, she was preceded in death by her husband, Matthew B.
Kosmalski; two sons, Gerald D. McIntyre and Don S. McIntyre; grandsons, Tom Burcham and
Zackary Vaughn; a sister, Nova Bordner; and brother, Jack Wood and many nieces and nephews.
Norma worked as a waitress in South Bend for many years. She was a charter member of the
Fraternal Order of Eagles Ladies Auxiliary, a member of the Disabled American Veterans
Auxiliary, unit #26 in LaPorte and of the American Legion Auxiliary, unit #0357.
Norma is survived by her daughters-in-law, Mary McIntyre of Bourbon and Dianne McIntyre, of
Ripley, W. Va. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Tammy Sauer, Timothy McIntyre and
Todd McIntyre, all of Bourbon; Denice Lloyd and Shawn McIntyre of Rochester; Don S. McIntyre
of Chesterton, W. Va.; Beverly Paul of Elkhart; Julie Milliser of Plymouth; many great grandchildren
and great-great grandchildren, and a special niece, Marsha Causey of Kokomo.
Graveside services will be Friday, May 29 at 11 a.m., Highland cemetery in South Bend, by
Kaniewski Funeral Home.
Dorothy Verda (Long) Pfeiffer
BREMEN — Dorothy Verda (Long) Pfeiffer, 84, of Bremen died Sunday, May 24, 2009 in Peru.
Surviving are son, John L. (Lora) Pfeiffer of Bremen; daughter, Janice (Gary) Dougan of
Boonville; sister, Shirley Long Drof of Florida; brother, James B. (Emily) Long of Arizona; and six
grandchildren.
Funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. on Friday, May 29 at the Bremen cemetery Chapel. Burial
will follow in Bremen cemetery. Friends may call one hour before the service at the chapel.

BREMEN — Dorothy Verda (Long) Pfeiffer, 84, of Bremen died Sunday, May 24, 2009 in Peru.

Donald E. Andrews
BREMEN — Donald E. “Don” Andrews, 89, who lived at the same Bremen address for 65 years,
died following an illness, at the Elkhart Hospice House at 10:30 p.m. Monday, May 25, 2009.
Born in Tiosa, March 3, 1920, Don was the son of Verl and Melinda Barnhart Andrews. He
attended Fulton County schools.
On Feb. 11, 1939, in Argos, Don and Ruth L. Ruffing were married
.
He was a farmer his whole life and was interested and involved with anything to do with farming.
He enjoyed tractor pulls, bowling and fishing.
In addition to his beloved wife, Ruth, Don is survived by three daughters: Linda (Robert) Annis,
Remington, Ind., Donna Miller, Bremen and Sandy (David) Lawton, South Bend.
Five grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and a sister, Dorothy Martin, Bremen, also survive.
Don was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Doris Mills and a brother, Floyd Andrews.
Friends are invited to share their memories with his family from 4 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, May 28,
at the Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan St., Plymouth.
Funeral services for Don will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 29 in the funeral home. The Rev.
Don Grandlinard will officiate.
Burial will be in New Oakhill cemetery, Plymouth.
Memorial gifts in Don’s memory may be made to the Center for Hospice and Palliative Care.
Tishia L. Smith
KNOX— Tishia L. Smith, 50, died Monday, May 25, in her home.
Survivors include one son, Jay Smith of Knox; grandchildren, Tatum, Kaylee and Alyviah; sister,
Tammy Taulbee of Knox and brother, Jack Smith of Knox.
Funeral services will be Saturday at 1 p.m. CDT at Rannells Funeral Home, Hamlet Chapel with
Pastor James Ritchie officiating.
Burial will be in the Oak Park cemetery, Knox.
Friends may call Saturday from 11 a.m. until the time of services at the funeral home.
Jeanne Anne Urbin Markle
NAPLES, FLA. — Ret. 1st Lt. Jeanne Anne Urbin Markle R.N., 65, of Recreation Lane, Naples,
Fla. died Tuesday, May 26, 2009 at 3:36 p.m. at Rush Hospital, Chicago, Ill.
She is survived by her husband, Ret. Lt. Col. Brian Cody Markle; daughter, Paige (Jim) Simpson
of Naples, Fla.; two sons: Patrick (Mirela) Markle of Charlotte, N.C. and Jeremy (Nicole) Markle
of Louisville, Ky.; six grandchildren; three sisters: Janet Rae (Jerry) Burkett of Rochester, Ind.,
Jill Leazenby of Carmel, Ind. and Joy (Dr. Thomas) Troutman of Kewanna, Ind. and a brother,
Jack (Jean) Urbin of Kewanna, Ind.
Visitation will take place Wednesday, June 3 from 3 to 5 p.m. at Grace United Methodist Church,
Rochester, Ind.
Funeral services will take place at the church at 5 p.m. Wednesday.
A second visitation service will take place Sunday, June 21 at 1 p.m. at the Hampton Inn,
Kokomo, Ind. With a second funeral service at 3 p.m.
A final service will be held at a later date at her home town in Naples, Fla.
With full military honors, Markle will be buried at Arlington National cemetery, Arlington. Va.
Memorials may be made to the American Lung Association.

Zachery Schlemmer
BREMEN — Zachery Schlemmer, 23, of Bremen died Tuesday, May 26, 2009 at the Community
Hospital of Bremen.
He is survived by wife, Lindsey of Nappanee; two children, Hailey and Preston, both of
Nappanee; parents Randy and Sandy Schlemmer of Bremen; sister, Sasha (Neko) Shumpert of
Warsaw, niece, Shayla of Warsaw; paternal grandmother, Freda Schlemmer of Bremen; and
father- and mother-in-law Jim and Karin Carney.
Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. on Friday, May 29 at Mishler Funeral Home, Bremen. Funeral
services will be at 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 30 at the funeral home. Burial will be at Bremen
cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to Riley Hospital for Children.
Julia B. White
ETNA GREEN — Julia B. White, 81, formerly of Etna Green, died Tuesday, May 26, 2009 at
9:43 p.m. in Bremen Health Care Center.
She is survived by daughters, Gail Albright of Loveland, Ohio; Ginger Ros of Muncie; sons,
George (Debra) White of Etna Green; and Joe (Cathy) White of Bourbon; nine grandchildren, 12
great-grandchildren and a sister, Opal Jones of Bourbon.
Visitation is Friday, May 29 from 5 to 8 p.m. in the Deaton-Clemens Funeral Home, 115 S. Main
St., Bourbon. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 30 at the funeral home. Burial will
follow in the Etna Green cemetery, Etna Green.

BREMEN — Billy Wright, 80, of Bremen died Tuesday, May 26, 2009 at Rivercrest Specialty
Hospital, Mishawaka.
He is survived by his wife, Freda; sons Billy Ray (Barbara) Wright of Nappanee, Greg (Angela)
Wright of Nevada, Chris (Linda) Wright of Bremen, and Bobby (Kristy) Wright of Nappanee; 10
grandchildren and one great-grandchild; brothers, Luther (Birdie) Wright of California, Ford
(Icymae) of Ohio and Virgil (Geraldine) Wright of Bremen; and sisters, Ruby Camvell of
Jackson, Ky. And Imogene (William) Wilder of Jackson, Ky.
Visitation is Friday, May 29 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Misher Funeral Home, Bremen. Services are
Saturday, May 30 at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home.
Military graveside services will also be conducted. Burial will be in Bremen cemetery.

WALKERTON — Meriliza Brown, 68, died Wednesday, May 27, at Miller’s Merry Manor, Walkerton.
Surviving are two sons, Robert (Cindy) Fraine of Grovertown and Keith (Beth) Fraine of Bremen;
five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Saturday at 1 p.m. CDT at Rannells Funeral Home, Koontz Lake Chapel
with Rev. Lloyd George officiating.
Cremation will follow.

NORTH LIBERTY — Myrtle Church, 84, of Jonesville, Mich, formerly of North Liberty, died
Wednesday, May 27, at her home.
She is survived by her husband, Hiram Church; two sons, Allen (Linda Bowling) Church of
Belleville, Mich. And John (Vicki) Church of Manchester, Mich; nine grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren
and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, June 2, at 11 a.m. CDT at Rannells Funeral Home, Hamlet
Chapel with Rev. Verland Coombs officiating.
Interment will follow in the Highland cemetery in North Judson.
The family will receive friends for visitation Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. EDT at the Eagle Funeral
Home, 109 East St., Jonesville, Mich. And Monday from 4 to 8 p.m. CDT at Rannells Funeral
Home, Hamlet Chapel.

NAPPANEE — Larry G. Elliott, 48, of Nappanee, died Wednesday, May 27, 2009 in Nappanee.
He is survived by a son, Christopher Elliott of California; daughters, Kristina Jones of Warsaw,
Heather Gilley of Nappanee and Angela Rucker of Silver Lake; eight grandchildren; brother,
Mike Elliott of Warsaw; sisters, Candy Housouer of Nappanee, Cindy (Don) Coplen of
Nappanee, Connie Reynolds of Rochester and Laurie Landry of Silver Lake; and former wife,
Charlene Elliott of Nappanee.
Visitation is Saturday, May 30 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Thompson-Lengacher & Yoder Funeral Home,
Nappanee, with memorial service to follow at 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Cremation will take
place.
