Clifford Revere, Sr. Berger
PLYMOUTH — Lifetime area farmer Clifford Revere Berger Sr., 90, passed away at his home in
the care of his family Friday, April 24, 2009 at 5:40 p.m.
Clifford was born at home March 26 1919, the son of Paul R. and Berneice A. (Casper) Berger.
He was a graduate of LaPaz High School with the Class of 1937.
On November 8, 1941 he took the former Lauretta May Gilbert as his bride and together they
worked the farm, raised three children and witnessed the birth of four grandchildren, four great grandchildren
and one great-great-grandchild over a period of 67 years, at each others side.
Their children are: Carol Jean Benson, Clifford Revere Berger Jr. and James Paul and Margaret
Berger all of Plymouth. Grandchildren are: Robert G. and Tami Benson, Christine A. and
Mathew Lotter, Jason P. and Jenny Berger and Kimberly M. Berger with great-grandchildren:
Amanda Benson, Andrew Benson, Carissa Lotter and Jacob Berger along with great-great granddaughter:
Alaina Worland.
Also surviving is his sister Ruth C. and husband Bernard Schrome of Plymouth including several
nieces and nephews.
Preceding in death was his sister Helen L. and husband Robert Kirkley.
In addition to farming, Clifford worked as a welder for Pi Rod Tower Co., Wheelhorse and
Wheelabrator-Freye Corporation retiring in 1985.
His interests included flying his J-3 Piper Cub, gardening and travel. He was a member of Flying
Farmers, Wythougan Preservation Council, Plymouth Moose Lodge, Hoosier Old Wheels and Farm Bureau.
The family will receive friends Monday April 27 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Johnson-Danielson
Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan St. Plymouth and after 7 a.m. Tuesday until services at 10:30
a.m. in the funeral home.
The Rev. Ogden “Sam” McClimans, pastor of the LaPaz Community Church of God, will officiate.
Burial will follow in the Bremen cemetery.
In appreciation of the care and guidance offered by the Center For Hospice and Palliative Care,
the family requests memorial gifts to their program c/o 112 S. Center St., Plymouth, IN 46563 or
charity of the donor’s choice.
Robert R. Fawley
KNOX — Robert R. Fawley, 74, died Friday, April 24, 2009 in his home.
He is survived by his wife, Lucille Drane of Knox; two daughters: Tina Price and Donna Fawley,
both of Kentucky; three sons: Kelly Fawley of Elkhart, Matthew Fawley of Bremen and Doug
Fawley of Kentucky; one sister, Dorothy Smith and eight grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Monday, April 27 at 2 p.m. (Central Time) at Rannells Funeral Home,
Hamlet Chapel where friends may call from 11 a.m. CDT until the time of services.
Burial will follow at the Fletcher cemetery, Hamlet.
Memorial contributions may be given to Starke County Hospice.
Ivan M. Hahn
PERU — Ivan M. Hahn, 90, of Peru, passed away at 5:30 a.m. Friday, April 24, 2009.
He was born April 2, 1919 in Miami County, the son of Ben F. and Helen Slaughter Hahn. He
married
his wife of 67 years, Martha Grace Powell, at the Amboy Friends Church on July 20,
1941 and she preceded him in death June 14, 2008.
Ivan was a lifelong Miami County farmer, who loved the land and raising beef cattle. He was a
wonderful conversationalist who loved to discuss current events, politics and national affairs. He
read The Indianapolis Star faithfully every day and was an avid sports enthusiast. Ivan and his
wife Martha Grace lovingly raised three children. He was an intelligent man of great faith and
integrity, who was an active member of the Amboy Friends Church where he has served as
Sunday School Superintendent, was a member of the Board of Trustees and sang in the Church
choir. He had been active in the Butler Township School Organization, the Converse Lions
Club, the Miami County Fair Board, and the Indiana Farm Bureau. Ivan appreciated the good
things of life, such as visits with his children and grandchildren, and relaxing on his porch swing
with a good cup of coffee.
Surviving are two daughters: Janellyn Borden and her husband Glenn of Ft. Wayne and Phyllis
Downey and her husband J. D. of Wabash; a son, James Ivan Hahn of Peru; grandchildren:
Jeffrey Borden and his wife Sara, Philip Borden and his wife Catherine, Kyle Downey and his
wife Holly, Kristina Meyer and her husband Jeff, Chad Hahn, Kimberly Hahn, and Clark Downey
and his wife Erica; and a great-grandson, Jacob Borden.
A service celebrating the life of Ivan M. Hahn will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, April 27, 2009 at
the Amboy Friends Church, 110 E. Pennsylvania Ave., Amboy, with Reverends Richard Martens
and Dwight Elliott officiating. Burial will be in Park Lawn cemetery, Amboy. Family and friends
will gather at the Amboy Friends Church from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Laird-Eddy Funeral Home, 201 N. Main St., Amboy.
Memorial donations may be made through the funeral home to the Amboy Friends Church.
Ellen "Jeanne" Bauman
PLYMOUTH — Ellen “Jeanne” Bauman, a resident of Windmill Park, Plymouth since 2004,
passed away at her residence Saturday evening, April 25, 2009. Jeanne accepted her diagnosis
of a terminal illness last August, and she dealt with it on her own terms.
She was born September 26, 1925, the daughter of Ralph and Irene (Greer) Fall.
On November 14, 1948 she became the bride of Howard E. Bauman in the parsonage of the
First United Methodist Church, Plymouth. They shared nearly sixty years together at the time of
his passing last July 15.
With great pride they would speak of their only child, Kelly Pitcher of Indianapolis, who survives.
As a member of the V.F.W. Auxiliary, Jeanne and Howard worked countless hours for the good
of the community and V.F.W. Post 1162 and American Legion Post 27.
Jeanne was a homemaker who enjoyed family events and a pastime of reading. She also served
the Plymouth School Corp. for many years in the cafeteria and as a precint poll worker.
Surviving along with her daughter is a brother James M. Fall of Tucson Arizona whom she was
able to visit with there just three weeks ago, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Also preceding in death was a brother; Cecil L. Fall and sister; Phyllis L. Stuhlmacher.
A celebration of Jeanne’s life will be held from 10 a.m. until noon Saturday, May 2 in the
Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan St. Plymouth where services will begin at noon.
Memorial gifts may be made to the Marshall Co. Humane Society.
William H. Hipp
CULVER — William H. Hipp, 76, died Saturday, April 25, 2009 in Saint Joseph Regional Medical
Center, Plymouth.
Survivors include one son, William A. Hipp of Culver; one daughter, Roxanne Donovan of South
Carolina; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and one sister, Marie Commadore of
Virginia Beach.
There will be no visitation or services. Cremation has taken place.
Rannells Funeral Home, Hamlet Chapel, is handling arrangements.
Viola M. Sporner
WARSAW — Viola M. Sporner, 76, of 412 W. Main St., Warsaw, died Saturday, April 25, 2009
at 2:41 p.m. at Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne. She was born July 30, 1932 in Saint Marys, Pa.
to Joseph and Emma (Cowan) Sporner.
In 1946 her family moved to a dairy farm near Plymouth. Vi graduated from West High School,
Plymouth, in the class of 1952. She was employed for 25 years at R.R. Donnelley and Sons,
Warsaw, and retired as Tool Crib Technician. Aunt Vi was a favorite of her many nieces and
nephews and their families. She was a devout member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church
Warsaw. Vi enjoyed helping others in her community. She was an avid knitter and bowler and
was a member of the Wednesday Morning Coffee Klatch Bowling League. She also loved to
travel and took several cruises. Among her favorite cruises was one to Alaska in 2002. Viola was
a Warsaw resident since 1971. Her parents and seven brothers preceded her in death. They
include Robert, Melvin, Raymond, Kenneth, Leonard, Carl and Leroy Sporner. Viola was also
preceded by a nephew, Michael Sporner.
She is survived by her loving family, including a sister, Bernece Pomeroy of South Bend; several
nieces and nephews including: Jane Pomeroy of South Bend, Nancy Pomeroy of Powell, Tenn.,
John (Cheri) Pomeroy of Elkhart, Rebecca (Dave) Hamann of South Bend, Steve (Renee')
Pomeroy of Niles, Mich., Susan (Mike) Krontz of Bremen, Patrick (Margaret) Sporner of
Plymouth, Phillip Sporner of Plymouth, Brian (Trish) Sporner of Bourbon, Daniel Sporner of
Bremen, Scott Sporner of Osceola, Andrew Sporner of Germany, Robert Sporner of Palm
Springs, Calif. and Jennifer (Kevin) Vance of Rock Hill, S.C. In addition, Viola is survived by a
sister-in-law, Patricia Sporner of Plymouth, and many great nieces and nephews.
Monsignor James Wolf of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Warsaw will officiate the funeral mass.
A Rosary Service will be held Tuesday night at 7:30 p.m. at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel
Warsaw. Graveside services following the funeral mass will be held at Oakhill cemetery
Plymouth at 12:15 p.m. Wednesday, April 29.
Services will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Warsaw Wednesday, April 29 at 10 a.m.
Visitation is from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. with the rosary at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 28, 2009.
Burial will be at 12:15 p.m. Wednesday, April 29, 2009 at Oakhill cemetery Plymouth.

Clifton L. “Kip”, II Einspahr
CUMBERLAND – Clifton L. “Kip” Einspahr II, 56, died April 26, 2009 at Community Hospital East
in Indianapolis. Born on Oct. 2, 1952 in Hammond, he was the son of Clifton L. and Evelyn
(Patz) Einspahr. He graduated from Plymouth High School in 1970 and attended Indiana State
University. Mr. Einspahr married
Ginette VanWaeyenberghe on Nov. 19, 1977.
He worked in retail management for various organizations for many years. For 24 years he was
involved with his beloved USAC and Indy Racing League as a tech and certification inspector,
making many lifelong friends and associates. Mr. Einspahr was a member of the Plymouth
Masonic Lodge #149, the Scottish Rite in Indianapolis, and the Old Timers Club at the
Indianapolis Motor Speedway. He was also an Eagle Scout and a member and treasurer of the
Amity United Methodist Church.
Surviving him is his wife, Ginette VanWaeyenberghe Einspahr; son, Cliff L. (Candi) Einspahr III
of Fishers; daughter, Ann (Aaron) Longacre of Chicago; mother, Evelyn Patz Einspahr of
Merrillville; sister Jan (Chuck) Widdel of Chicago; beloved pets, Fawna, Tommy, Lucy, and
Simba; two nephews, David (Laura) Widdel and Daniel (Marian) Widdel, all of Chicago, Ill.;
several great nieces and nephews; and grandaughter, Lorelai Einspahr .
Visitation will be Thursday, April 30 from 3 to 7 p.m. at Erlewein Mortuary in Greenfield. Funeral
services will be Thursday, April 30 at 7 p.m. following the visitation. Chaplain Bob Hills and
Reverend Larry Bush will be officiating.

DeWight Manns
AKRON — DeWight Manns, 59, of East 250 South, Akron, died Sunday, April 26, 2009 at 7:10
a.m. at his home, after a year-long illness.
He is survived by his wife Carolyn (Middaugh) Manns; mother, Oma Manns of Akron; daughter
Carissa (Jacob) Boomershine or Craigville, Ind.; a son, Charlie (Jennifer) Manns of Greenville,
S.C.; four grandchildren; two sisters: Dee and (Joe) Dague of Kewannna and Diann (Wayne)
Grube of Rochester and brother, Dewayne (Carolyn) Manns of Yantis, Texas.
Visitation will take place Wednesday, April 29 from 3 to 8 p.m. at Hartzler Funeral Home, 305 W.
Rochester, St., Akron.
Funeral services will take place Thursday, April 30 qt 10: 30 a.m. at the funeral home.
Burial will follow at the Akron cemetery.
Memorial contributions can be made to the Sweetwater Assembly of God, North Manchester.
Robert A. Martz
ELKHART — Robert A. Martz, 47, of Nappanee, died at 3:40 p.m. Sunday, April 26, 2009 at
Elkhart Hospice House, Elkhart.
He is survived by his wife, Tammy Martz; daughter, Brittney Martz at home; sons: Bobby
(fiancee Rebecca) Martz of Nappanee and Brett Martz at home; father, Ivan (Yvonne) Martz Jr.
of Syracuse; sister, Annette Martz of Nappanee; brothers: Bill (Ina) Martz and Terry Martz, both
of Nappanee; and one granddaughter.
Visitation is Wednesday, April 29 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. and one hour before the
service at the Thompson-Lengacher & Yoder Funeral Home, Nappanee. Services are Thursday,
April 30 at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at Union Center cemetery. Memorials may
be made to the Robert A. Martz Memorial Fund for his son, Brett.
