BREMEN — Dorthea I. (Weldy) Penrose, 74, of Bremen, died at 6:30 a.m. Monday, March 9, 2009
at home.
She is survived by sons: Emmert (Kathleen) Johnson of Woodland and Jason (Debra) Penrose
of Bremen; daughters: Teresa (Allan) Young-Barts of Bremen and Michaelie (Steve) PenroseForsythe
of Bremen; 11 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; sisters: Blanche (Joseph)
Uriedneck, Treva (John) Slusser and Eva (Cliff) Hawkins, all of Bremen; and brothers: Joseph
Charles (Lorraine) Weldy, Arvin Weldy, Marvin (Goldie) Weldy, Cleo (June) Weldy and Clifford
Weldy, all of Bremen.
Graveside services will be Thursday, March 12 at 11 a.m. at Fair cemetery in Lakeville.
Memorials may be made to The Center for Hospice & Palliative Care.

Pauline J. Richardson
LA PORTE Pauline J. Richardson, 85, of La Porte, died Monday March 9, 2009 at La Porte
Hospital in La Porte.
She is survived by her daughter, Gail (Tim) Mishler of La Porte; son, Gary (Sarah) Richardson of
Chesterton; 11 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and sister, Mary Jane Meyers of Elkhart.
Arrangements are being handled by Haverstock Funeral Home, 602 Maple Ave., LaPorte, where
the family will receive friends from 12 to 3 p.m. Saturday, March 14. Services will be held at 3
p.m., Saturday, March 14 at the funeral home. Interment will follow in the Heckman cemetery,
La Porte.

Harold R. Ringer
LAKEVILLE — Harold R. Ringer, 80, Lakeville, died at his residence Monday, March 9, 2009 at
10:30 a.m.
Harold was born in South Bend on June 14, 1928. He was the son of Ora A. and Inez Dreibelbis
Ringer.
Harold and Thelma Jeanne Finney were married
in Culver on June 13, 1948. They had lived in
Lakeville all of their married
life.
He was employed by Studebakers and Acme Filter Service in South Bend for many years.
Harold is survived by his wife and their two sons: Mark (Sheryl) Ringer of Lakeville and Eric
Ringer of Mishawaka and one daughter, Joyce (Ray) Beja, Bremen.
A brother, Arthur (Ruth) Ringer, Plymouth and grandchildren: Korrine (John) Britton,
Williamstown, N.Y.: Aron Ringer, Ryan (Allison) Ringer both of Greer, S.C., and Derek Ringer of
South Bend, Josh Ringer of Bloomington and their mother, Diana.
Great-grandchildren Victoria, Noah and Evangelyn Britton also survive.
Harold was preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers and their wives: Don (Louise)
Ringer and Carl (Mary) Ringer.
Friends are invited to share their memories and celebrate the life of Harold with his family on
Wednesday, March 11, 2009, from 4 to 8 p.m. and on Thursday, March 12 after 7 a.m. in the
Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan St., Plymouth.
Funeral services for Harold will be at the funeral home at 11 a.m. on Thursday, March 12, 2009.
The Rev. Dr. Bud Steadman of the Community Baptist Church, South Bend, where Harold
attended, will officiate.
Burial will be in Oak Hill cemetery, Plymouth.
Memorial contributions in Harold’s memory may be made to the Community Baptist Church or to
The Center for Hospice and Palliative Care, Inc.
Larry E. Stiver
Larry E. Stiver, age 69, Eastman, Ga., formerly of Akron, died Monday, March 9, 2009, at the
Medical Center of Central Georgia in Macon, Ga.
Funeral services were Wednesday at Gresston Baptist Church with the Rev. Paul Cowles and
the Rev. Dahl McDermitt Jr. officiating. Interment followed in Gresston cemetery.
Mr. Stiver was born in Warsaw, was a Vietnam veteran of the U.S. Navy, a retired U.S. Postal
Service employee and a member of Gresston Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his father, Earl Stiver.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley Garrett Stiver; daughters, Stacy S. (Eric) Jarrell; son, Garret
Stiver; mother, Luetta (Alderfer) Martens, formerly of Richland Center; two sisters, Cheryl StiverMunro
and Lynette Weston; one brother, Richard Stiver; and four grandchildren, Kristin Mullis,
Dawson Jarrell, Slade Jarrell and Marley Jarrell.
The family may be contacted at the Stiver residence, 2228 Cochran Highway, Eastman, Ga.
Cousins Charles and Frances Clevenger of Rochester attended the funeral.
Serving as pallbearers were Thomas Walters, Edward Wallace, Trent Garrett, Ronnie Bowling,
Daryl Noles and Cordell Fincher.
Joan Couey was the musician for the funeral service.
Stokes-Sutherland Funeral Home of Eastman handled arrangements.
Olen M. Anglin
BRADENTON, Fla. — Olen M. Anglin, 85, of Bradenton, Fla., formerly of Nappanee, died at 1:35
a.m. Tuesday, March 10, 2009 at Life Care Center of Sarasota, Fla.
He is survived by his wife, Ethel Mae Anglin; son, Lanny (Kathy) Anglin of Columbus, Ohio;
daughter, Judy (Robert) Douglas of Sarasota, Fla.; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren;
and brother, Lowell Anglin of Nappanee.
Visitation is Friday, March 13 from 3 to 5 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Thompson-Lengacher &
Yoder Funeral Home, Nappanee, and one hour prior to the service Saturday. Services are
Saturday, March 14 at 10:30 a.m. at the Nappanee Missionary Church Chapel. Burial will be at
Stony Point cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Nappanee Missionary Church or the Gideons.
Ronald Dale Overmyer
ROCHESTER — Ronald Dale Overmyer, 79, of Rochester, died at 5:20 a.m. Tuesday, March
10, 2009 at Life Care Center of Rochester.
He is survived by his wife, Bonnie; son, Steve Overmyer of Rochester; one grandson; two step
great-granddaughters; sister, Virginia Rosenbury of Rochester; and brother, Donald (Marjorie)
Overmyer and wife Marjorie of Culver and Arizona. Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, March 13
in the Good Family Funeral Home, Rochester. Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, March 12
and one hour prior to the service.
Kenneth A. Weinman
KOONTZ LAKE — Kenneth A. Weinman, 88, died Tuesday, March 10, 2009 in Miller’s Merry
Manor, Walkerton.
Survivors include: daughter, Wendy Leigh Block of Edwardsburg, Mich.; three grandchildren;
and nephew, Keith Weinman of Colorado.
Funeral services will be Friday, March 13 at 8 p.m. (Eastern Time) at Rannells Funeral Home,
Koontz Lake Chapel. Burial will be at the Grovertown cemetery at a later date. Visitation is
Friday from 4 p.m. EST until the time of services.
Memorial contributions may be given to the Kidney Foundation.
Dorothy M. Bickel
PLYMOUTH — Dorothy M. Bickel, 78, of Plymouth, died at 7:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 11,
2009 at Starke Memorial Hospital, Knox.
She is survived by her husband, Hershel L. "Pete" Bickel of Culver; sons: Richard Bickel of
Knox, Michael (Bitha) Bickel of Knox, James (Nancy) Bickel of Monterey and Robert (Marti)
Bickel; daughters: Betty (Harry) Busam of Plymouth, Elsie Hughes of Okomogee, Okla. And
Patty (Art) Justice of Owasso, Okla.; sister, Lorraine Thomas of Culver; 11 grandchildren; and
17 great-grandchildren.
Visitation is Saturday, March 14 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Bonine-Odom Funeral Home, Culver.
Services are Sunday, March 15 at 1 p.m. Burial will be at Burr Oak cemetery.
Garnett I. McFarland
WINAMAC — Garnett I. McFarland, 91, of Winamac, died Wednesday, March 11, 2009 at 1:45
a.m. at Pulaski Health Care Center, Winamac. She was born May 30, 1917 in Fulton to Ross
and Orpha (Rouch) Fry. On March 2, 1935, she married
Raymond McFarland in the First
Christian Church, Winamac. Raymond passed away April 1, 1987.
Garnett was a 1934 graduate of Star City High School. A homemaker, she was a member of the
Kewanna Church of Christ. Garnett’s focus was her faith and her family. She loved sewing and
to needlepoint.
She is survived by sons: Kenneth (Alma) McFarland of Winamac and Mark (Beth) McFarland of
Winamac; daughters: Janet (Jack) Covert of Lake Orion, Mich., Melody (Thom) Kruger of
Plymouth and Bonnie (Maurice) Kopka of Francesville; daughter-in-law, Joyce McFarland
(David) Bales of North Judson; 25 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren;
and sister, Marilyn Powlen of Winamac.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter, Karen Shidler Lowry; son,
Michael McFarland; brother, Everett Fry; sister, Virginia Fry; and grandsons: Justin Kopka and
Jimmie Shidler.
Visitation is Friday, March 13 from 2 to 8 p.m. EDT at Frain Mortuary, Winamac. Services will be
Saturday, March 14 at 11 a.m. EDT at Frain Mortuary with Scott Meneely, pastor of the Kewanna
Church of Christ, officiating. Burial will be at Star City West cemetery.
Memorials may be given to Pulaski Health Care Center or the American Cancer Society.
Etta Renae Millice
PLYMOUTH — Etta Renae Millice, 62, of Plymouth, died Wednesday, March 11, 2009 at Saint
Joseph Regional Medical Center, South Bend.
She is survived by daughters: Melissa (Fred) Masten of Walkerton; four grandchildren; mother,
Vivian L. Plummer; and brothers: Jimmy (Bev) Plummer of Elkhart, Larry (Candy) Plummer and
Ron Plummer of Avon Park, Fla.
There will be no services.

Robert L., Sr. Whitesell
CINCINNATI, Ohio — Robert L. Whitesell Sr., 61, passed away at Hospice House in Cincinnati,
Ohio March 11, 2009. He was the adopted son of Floyd and Florence Pike Whitesell. He was
born Dec. 16, 1947.
He graduated from Plymouth High School with the class of 1966.
Survivors include his beloved wife, Carmen; sons: Robert L. Whitesell Jr. of Nevada and Cris of
South Bend; daughter, Erin of Elkhart; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sisters:
Barbara Ann Weis of Wadesville, Ind. And Katherine “Kathy” Shaffer of Hartford City; aunts:
Sharon Bope and Edna Keltz Wagoner, both of Plymouth; and many stepbrothers and stepsisters.
A memorial service will be held in the near future.
Robert Lee Whitesell Sr. passed away after a long battle with Addison’s disease brought on by
the pesticide DDT.
He is survived by his wife, Carmen Whitesell; three children: Robert Lee Whitesell Jr.,
Christopher James Whitesell and daughter, Erin Renee Norris; six grandchildren: Taneilya Beth
Whitesell, Zoe Renee Norris, Emily Norris, Madison Norris and Hunter Lee Norris; two great granddaughters:
Alinity Collins and Alexis Collins; two sisters: Barbara Ann (Daryl) Weis and
Katherine (Michael) Shaffer; and many half brothers and sisters, and aunts and uncles.
Robert, a native of Plymouth, went out into the world with a curious mind. He loved the internal
combustion engine and raced at all local tracks. As a young man, but as a Master Tool and Die
Maker soon realized a love for invention: He wanted to change a part of the world in the Natural
Gas Industry and still may accomplish this.
A loving husband and good father, he was preceded in death by his birth parents, Ralph Wilcox
and Betty Mentzel, who gave him up for adoption to an aunt and uncle, Florence and Floyd Whitesell.
Robert accepted Christ as his personal Savior prior to his passing.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
