Anna M. Young
PLYMOUTH — Mrs. Anna M. Young, 82, a resident of 10570 Oriole Lane in Plymouth peacefully
entered into rest at 12:20 a.m. Monday, Jan. 5, 2009 in her home.
Anna was born the daughter of Sam Secor and Treva Tucker Secor on Oct. 21, 1926 at Burket.
She had been a resident of Bourbon from 1970-1989 when she moved to Plymouth.
She was joined in marriage on July 24, 1970 to Howard Young who survives along with her
children: Connie Jean (Randy) Miller of Claypool, James (Marge) Hawn of Goshen; her
stepchildren: Jeri (Robert) Chenoweth of Lawrenceburg, Ky., Michael Young of Tippecanoe,
Sam (Sue) Young of Inver Grove Hts, Minn. And Laurie Keenan of Bourbon; 14 grandchildren;
13 great-grandchildren; two sisters: Margaret Babcock of (Atwood) Warsaw and Doris Cox of
Noblesville; and a brother, David Secor of Cascade, Md.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Gordon Secor.
Anna was a homemaker and a long time member of the Bourbon American Legion Auxiliary.
A memorial grave side service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 18 at Pleasant Hill cemetery
at Bourbon.
Deaton-Clemens Funeral Home, Bourbon is in charge of local arrangements.

Tim E., II Tillotson
BOURBON — Tim E. Tillotson II, 21, of Bourbon, died Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2009 at Northern
Indiana Manufacturing, Bourbon.
He is survived by his parents: Tim E. and Tonia Tillotson of Bourbon; sisters: Trish and Tayah
Tillotson of Bourbon; brother, Trevor Tillotson of Bourbon; grandparents: Carolyn and Gerald
Pike of Culver, Larry and Gerri Staner of Bremen, Velma Tillotson of Bourbon and Eugene
Tillotson of Goshen; and great-grandmothers: Esther VanBlaricom of Plymouth and Hazel
Staner of Bremen.
Visitation is Monday, Jan. 12 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Thompson-Lengacher & Yoder Funeral
Home, Nappanee, and for one hour prior to services at Bourbon First United Methodist Church
Tuesday. Funeral services are Tuesday, Jan. 13 at 2:30 p.m. at the church. Burial will be at
Pleasant Hill cemetery, Bourbon.
Memorials may be made to the Tim E. Tillotson II Memorial Fund in care of First State Bank, 101
W. Center St., Bourbon, IN 46504.

James Dean Davis
WALKERTON — James Dean Davis, 52, of Walkerton, died Wednesday, Jan. 7, 2009 at his residence.
He is survived by his mother, Linda G. Davis of North Liberty and two sisters: Robin (Dennis)
Ream and Vicki (Steve) Morris, all of Walkerton.
Cremation has taken place per his wishes. A graveside service will be held at a later date at
Woodlawn cemetery.
Nusbaum-Elkin Funeral Home, Walkerton, is in charge of arrangements.

Deloris Jane Terry
MISHAWAKA — Deloris Jane Terry, 76, of Mishawaka, passed away at 8:15 a.m. Wednesday,
Jan. 7, 2009 in Healthwin Specialized Care Facility, South Bend.
Deloris was born on June 5, 1932 in Cotton Plant, Ark. to Robert and Minnie (Latner) Carter.
She retired from the Elkhart School System and Uniroyal.
Deloris is survived by her children: Curtis Terry of Mishawaka, Mary Jane Kralovansky of
Plymouth and Sue Evans of Granger; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one sister,
Mary Viau of Florida; and one brother, Henry Carter of Mishawaka.
Deloris was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers: Robert Carter and Bill Carter.
Family and friends may call on Friday, Jan. 9, 2009 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Bubb Funeral Chapel,
3910 N. Main St., Mishawaka, where funeral services will take place on Saturday at 12:30 p.m
with visitation also on Saturday from 11:30 a.m. until service time. Rev. David Stauffer will
officiate the services with burial to follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to American Heart/American Stroke
Association, 7272 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, TX 75231.

Kelly L. Bloom
SOUTH BEND — Kelly L. Bloom, age 37, of 62430 Locust Road, South Bend, formerly of
Plymouth, passed away on Friday, January 9, 2009, at 6 p.m. at her home.
Kelly was born August 31, 1971, in Plymouth, to Terry R. and Ann (Stockinger) Bloom. She was
a graduate of Plymouth High School in the Class of 1989.
She was employed by the Brass Rail Restaurant, in Plymouth. Kelly was a proud aunt and loved
spending time with her two nieces, Jia and Lauren.
Kelly is survived by her mother, Ann Bloom of Plymouth; her sister Shari Bloom and her
daughter Jia Bloom of Plymouth; and her brother Gale and Christina Bloom and their daughter
Lauren Bloom of South Bend. She was preceded in death by her father Terry Bloom.
A time of visiting with Kelly’s family will be on Tuesday, January 13, 2009, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.,
at the VAN GILDER FUNERAL HOME, 300 West Madison Street, Plymouth, Indiana, 46563.
Funeral services will be on Tuesday, January 13, 2009, at 3:00 p.m., at the VAN GILDER
FUNERAL HOME, with the Rev. Dennis Wenzel, pastor of the Immanuel Lutheran Church,
officiating.
Burial will be in New Oak Hill cemetery, Plymouth.
Memorial donations may be made, in Kelly’s name, to the charity of the donor’s choice.

Donna Mae (Davis) Goss-Smith
PLYMOUTH — Donna Mae (Davis) Goss-Smith was surrounded by her children and Pastor
Tom Padberg of Hospice in her home when she passed on Jan. 9, 2009. She will be missed and
remembered for all she contributed to her communities she worked for and lives she touched.
Donna was born to George E. and Hattie M. (Williams) Davis in Detroit, Mich. She was preceded
in death by a brother Jack, and sister Joan Foor of Westland, Mich.
Donna graduated from Cooley High in Detroit in 1952.
On Dec. 11, 1953, Donna married Leo Goss and shared four children; Betty Uebelhor of
Indianapolis, Leo Charles (Martha) Goss of Cleveland, Kathy (Kim) Masten of Mishawaka, and
Sharon Goss Reeves (Tom Ricksgers) of Niles. There are eight grandchildren and two great
grandchildren.
In 1979 Donna met Cecil Milo Smith; they eventually married on July 20, 1996. Cecil has four
children; Marty (Jackie) Smith, Suzy Smith, Pam (Doug) Edwards, and Sandy (Jim) Holderread.
There are eight grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
Donna worked for the St. Joseph County American Red Cross in South Bend for 20 years,
retiring in 1996. During her career, Donna worked as a National Disaster service instructor,
Director of Disaster, Blood and Community services, worked with and for Veterans benefits
services. After retiring she served on the Executive board as Disaster chairman.
Donna graduated from Indiana University with an associate’s degree in General Studies on May
7, 1991.
In 1999, Donna felt compelled to seek part time work at Lindenwood Retreat Center at Ancilla
College. Donna loved the job as a Hostess, and working for the book store. She was surrounded
by fascinating, delightful people who will miss her energy and unfailing smile. She remained a
faithful employee until December of this past year until her health would not allow.
Donna and Cecil were active members at Calvary Lutheran Church in Plymouth. Pastor Steven
Resner was very much a spiritual presence in both their lives just prior to their deaths, which
occurred just six days apart. He helped all the family members through this Heart wrenching
experience. We thank all of you for your thoughts and prayers through this devastating time of
losing two wonderful people.
Visitation with the family will be held on Tuesday, January 13th from 10 a.m. until noon at the
Calvary Lutheran Church, 1314 N. Michigan St., Plymouth. Services will be held there at noon.
Pastor Resner will officiate. Memorial contributions can be made to American Red Cross, and
Hospice House of your choice.
The Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements.

Charles B. Miller
PLMOUTH — Charles B. Miller, 80, of Plymouth, passed away at 11:06 a.m. on Friday, January
9, 2009, at the Hospice House in South Bend.
Charles was born September 10, 1928, in Waukegan, Ill., to Elias and Dona (Wagner) Miller. He
was first married to Ester “Duffy” M. Long. Ester passed away on February 7, 1950. On July 1,
1973, Charles and Lucille Long were married .
Charles was self-employed as a painter and wallpaper contractor. He was a member of the
Plymouth Moose Lodge #721, American Legion Post #27, and the Plymouth V.F.W. Post #1162
all of Plymouth.
Charles proudly served his country in the United States Navy. He entered the Navy in January of
1946 and received an Honorable Discharge in 1950, after serving in China during the Korean War.
Charles is survived by his wife, Lucille; his daughters, Linda M. Miller and her fiancée Ted of
California, Diana S. Miller and her fiancée Mike of Florida, Janet Seamon and her fiancée Lucky
of Argos; his son Mark A. Miller and his fiancée Amaryl of California; his brothers, Ralph W. and
Marie Miller of Schoorl, Holland and Retired Lt. Col. U.S.A.F. Alan M. and Carol Miller of
Kewanna; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his
parents and his first wife, Ester.
Funeral services, for Charles, will be held on Wednesday, January 14, 2009, at 4 p.m. at the
VAN GILDER FUNERAL HOME, Plymouth, with the Rev. Ron Hensley officiating. Burial will be
in Riverview cemetery, Saint Joseph, Michigan, at a later date.
A time of visiting with the Miller family will be on Wednesday, January 14, from 2 to 4 p.m., at the
VAN GILDER FUNERAL HOME, 300 W. Madison St., Plymouth, IN, 46563.
The family would like for memorial contributions to be given to the Center for Hospice and
Palliative Care, 112 South Center Street, Plymouth, IN, 46563.

Richard T. Shireman
ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — Richard T. Shireman, 46, of St. Petersburg, Fla. died of injuries
sustained from a motorcycle accident on Jan. 9, 2009. Born in Plymouth, he moved to St.
Petersburg, Fla. in 2005 from Marion. He was a graduate of Crawfordsville HS (1981), Wabash
College (1985), both in Crawfordsville, and Trinity Lutheran Seminary, Columbus, Ohio (1999).
He worked for the Crawfordsville Police Dept. from 1985 to 1995 and was a Lutheran Pastor
from 1999 to 2005. He worked for Operation PAR as part of the Homeless Outreach Team for
St. Petersburg, Fla. working in a career he truly enjoyed, where he was able to touch the lives of
many. He was a family man and an avid reader, who enjoyed the blues, riding his motorcycle
and being with friends.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Doug Strickler; grandparents, George and Helen
Towle, John and Glea Shireman and Pauline Shireman.
Survivors include his wife, Kris; sons: George and Dietrich of St. Petersburg, Fla.; parents,
Norma and Bill Strickler of Crawfordsville and Reg and Dorothy Shireman of Monticello; in-laws,
Don and Mary Alice Bickel of Crawfordsville; brothers: Dave Shireman and Billy Strickler of
Crawfordsville, and John (Rebecca) Shireman of Aurora, Ill.; sisters, Cheryl (Doug) Colliver of
Martinsville and Judy Strickler of Crawfordsville; brothers-in-law: Jeff (Barb) Bickel and Mark
(Missie) Bickel of Crawfordsville; and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
A memorial service will be held Thursday, Jan. 15 at 6:30 p.m. at Pinellas Hope, 5726 126th
Ave. N., Clearwater, FL 33760. A memorial service will be held in Crawfordsville at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorial donations be made in honor of Richard Shireman
to Catholic Charities, Diocese of St. Petersburg, 1213 16th St. N., St. Petersburg, FL 33705 to
assist with the ongoing good works of Pinellas Hope.

Karen J. Strang
NORTH LIBERTY — Karen J. Strang, 69, of North Liberty, passed away on Friday, Jan. 9, 2009
at the Hospice House in South Bend.
Karen was born on Sept. 10, 1939 in Warsaw to the late Paul and Mabel (Davidson) Ward. As
the former Karen Ward, she married Robert Strang on March 30, 1956 in Corinth, Miss. Robert
and Karen shared 52 years of love and devotion to each other. Her husband Robert and their
four children: Robert (Gail) Strang Jr. of Lakeville, John (Bunni) Strang of Bremen, Katherine
Strang of Plymouth and Loraine (Herman) Ginther of Plymouth survive Karen.
Karen was a loving and caring grandmother and great-grandmother to nine grandchildren and
seven great- grandchildren. One great-grandchild precedes her in death.
Karen is also survived by three sisters, and three brothers: Janice (James) Petty, Pam (James)
Fershin both from Granger, Marsha (John) Reed of North Carolina, Kenny Ward of Mishawaka,
Roger (Linda) Ward of Carson City, Nev. and Jerry Ward of Mishawaka
Karen was a part-time bookkeeper for the family business.She enjoyed doing pottery, gardening
and woodworking. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother to her family, which she
cherished most of all.
The family received friends Monday, Jan. 12 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Bubb Funeral Chapel, 3910
N. Main St. Mishawaka. The funeral service was held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 13 at the funeral
home with family friend Dan Geldner officiating. Burial followed the service at Chapel Hill
Memorial Gardens in Osceola, IN.
