BREMEN -- Mary Kathryn Balsley, 87, Bremen, died at 9:58 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 14, 2010 at her
residence.
She is survived by her husband Louis; son, Jeff (Susan) Balsley of Kalamazoo, Mich.; daughter,
Chris (Kevin) Hershberger of Bremen; five grandchildren; eight grandchildren; and two
sisters-in-law, Elaine Conley of Elkhart and Lois Schrader of Los Angeles, Calif.
Visitation will take place from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 17 at Mishler Funeral Home, 2030 S.R.
331, Bremen.
Funeral Services will take place at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 18 at the funeral home.
Burial will follow in Bremen cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the First Church of Christ or Hospice of Marshall County.
Barbara A. Arnold
PLYMOUTH -- Barbara A. Arnold, 73, of Plymouth, died at 7:10 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 15,
2010, at her residence.
She is survived by her brothers, Robert Huffer of Plymouth and Ronald (Joannie) Huffer of
Cocoa, Fla.; and many nieces and nephews.
There will be no visitation or funeral at this time.
Burial will take place at a later date.
Van Gilder Funeral Home, 300 W. Madison St., Plymouth, assisted the family with the arrangements.
Clinton "Bud" Crull
ROCHESTER -- Clinton “Bud” Crull, 76, of Rochester, died at 1:41 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 15,
2010 at Woodlawn Hospital.
He is survived by a daughter, Angel Crull of Leiters Ford; two sons, Nathan Crull of Leiters Ford
and John “Chewy” Crull, and wife Debbie, of Leiters Ford; seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren;
a sister, Patsy Daley, and husband John, of Forida; and a brother, Charles Crull,
and wife Mary Jo, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
Private family services will be held.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Good Family Funeral Home.
Ruth L. Straker
WALKERTON -- Ruth L. Straker, 90, of Miller’s Merry Manor, Walkerton, died Wednesday, Dec. 15, 2010.
She is survived by sisters, Rose Schmanski of South Bend and June Dolz of Florida; and
brothers: Jerry Tuttle of Grovertown, Stanley Tuttle of Arizona and Dick Tuttle of Argos.
There will be no services or visitation.
Cremation will take place with burial at a later date.

Elbert Vincent Young
ROCHESTER -- Elbert Vincent Young, 89, of Rochester, died at 2:15 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 15, 2010, at his home.
He is survived by his twin brother, Delbert Young of Rochester; a sister, Anajean Peterson of
Kewanna; and nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday and one hour prior to services in the Good Family
Funeral Home, 1200 W. 18th St. Rochester. Services are Saturday at 2 p.m. with Pastor Bob
Metzger officiating.
Burial will be on the family plot in the Moon cemetery, north east of Rochester.
Military graveside rites will be accorded by the LeRoy Shelton American Legion and the Manitou
Veterans of Foreign Wars of Rochester.
Memorials may be made to Veterans of Foreign Wars of Rochester.
Vivian J. Beran
PLYMOUTH -- Vivian J. Beran, 55, of Plymouth, died at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 16, 2010 at
Memorial Hospital in South Bend.
She is survived by her son, Matt (Nichole) Beran of Abbotsford, Wis.; daughters, Kelly Beran
(Phil Scruggs) and Angie (Kenny) Rundell of Plymouth; son Adam Beran (fianceé Brandi Trusty)
of Plymouth; sisters: Penny (Gerald) Harrelson of Dorchester, Wis., Terry (David) Koontz of
Sussex, Wis., and Lynn Klemetson of Abbotsford, Wis.; half-sister Shari Bellinger of North
Manchester; fiancé, Ron Tanner of Plymouth; his children: Ronald (Kim) Tanner of Argos, Tony
(Tracy) Tanner of Michigan, Tyrone Tanner of Plymouth, and Kim (Bruce) Birchfield of LaPorte;
eight grandchildren; and Ron’s six grandchildren.
Visitation will take place from 10 a.m. to noon (EDT) Monday, Dec. 20 at Odom Funeral Home,
Culver. Funeral services will take place at noon Monday at the funeral home.
Burial will follow at Culver Masonic cemetery.
Wayne Dell Nelson
OCEANSIDE, Calif. -- Wayne Dell Nelson, died Thursday, Dec. 16, 2010 in Oceanside, Calif.
He is survived by his wife Ruth “Pat” (Rains) Nelson; daughters; Vicki (Peter) Soderquist, and
Kerry Thomas; sons: Mark (Maggie) Nelson, Wade Nelson, and Kim (Sally) Poor; 10
grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. No services were held at his request.

HAMLET -- Ruth L. Awald, 83, of Lafayette, formerly of Hamlet, died Friday, Dec. 17, 2010 in St.
Elizabeth’s Hospital, Lafayette.
She is survived by daughters, Mary Lou (Gregg) Kempski of Chicago and Norma (Darrell) Pitts
of Hamlet; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one brother, Russell Bradley of
Monroeville, Pa.
Visitation will take place from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. (CT) Wednesday, Dec. 22 at Rannells Funeral
Home, Hamlet Chapel.
Funeral services will take place at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral chapel.
Burial will follow at the Fletcher cemetery.
Margaret Etta Moretto
BREMEN -- Margaret Etta Moretto, 91, of Bremen, died Friday, Dec. 17, 2010 at the Community
Hospital of Bremen.
She is survived by a daughter, Mary (Jerry Holland) Moretto of Syracuse; son, Tom (Louise)
Moretto of Carmel; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; one sister, Martha Yeager of
Bremen; and two brothers, James (Loretta) Huff and Louis Huff, both of Bremen.
Visitation will take place from noon to 1 p.m. Monday, Dec. 20 at the Mishler Funeral Home in
Bremen.
Funeral services will take place at 1 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Davis of Gary; three grandchildren; sisters: Bonnie Bailey of Ober, Sandy Adams of Florida,
Peggy Huddelston of Hamlet, Terrie Stewart of Iowa, and Brenda Fletcher of Union Mills; and

HANNA -- Normalee Rosenbaum, 82, died Saturday, Dec. 18, 2010 at her home in Hanna.
She is survived by her husband, LaVerne “Bud”; a daughter, Susanne Knutsen of Hanna; two
grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a sister, Sonja (Keith Solberg) Johnson of Bloomington;
and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will take place from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. (CT) Wednesday, Dec. 22 at First Lutheran
Church of Hanna.
Funeral services will take place at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the church.

at Bremen Community Hospital.
She is survived by sons, Oliver (Viola) Farmwald of Nappanee and Andrew (Linda) Farmwald of
Milford; daughters, Dorothy (Jack) Tobias of Nappanee and Mary Yoder of Nappanee; 12
grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; stepsons: Allen (Tressie)
Slabaugh of Nappanee, Glenn (Enid) Slabaugh of Goshen, Larry (Katie) Slabaugh of Nappanee,
and Dale (Ina) Slabaugh of Nappanee; stepdaughters: Erma (Lauren) Troyer of Nappanee, Mary
Ellen (Joni) Beachy of Bremen, Eleanor (Jay) Peachey of Nappanee, and Kay (Dale) Schertz of
Nappanee; 31 step grandchildren; 83 step great-grandchildren; six step great-great-grandchildren;
and sisters: Inez (Roy) Helmuth of Goshen, Wilma (Jesse) Hochstetler of Nappanee, and Cora
Martin of Goshen.

PLYMOUTH -- Robert Lee Miller, 56, Plymouth, died Dec. 19, 2010 at Miller’s Merry Manor,
Plymouth, of natural causes.
He is survived by former spouse, Sharon Miller Cudney of Plymouth. Family services were held.

LIVINGSTON, Texas -- Kenneth Edward Myers, 78, of Livingston, Texas, passed away Dec. 19,
2009 at his residence.
He is survived by his wife, Marilyn Naylor Myers; son, Steve Myers of Ashboro, N.C.; daughter-inlaw,
Annette Myers, of Ashboro, N.C.; daughter, Nancy Myers Zeider, of Indianapolis; son-in-law,
Mike Zeider, of Bremen; sister, Judy Booker of Rockford, Ill.; five grandchildren; step-children:
Sherry (Richard) Brock, Kim (Dennis) Reiff and Victoria Fike; six step-grandchildren; three great grandchildren;
seven step-great-grandchildren; brother-in-laws, Bruce (Deb) Naylor and Gene
(Darlene) Naylor; and several cousins, nephews and nieces.
Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 23, at the Escapees Care Center with
Pastor Kevan Wood officiating.
Margaret Ellen Sherwood
PLYMOUTH -- Margaret Ellen Sherwood, 90, of Plymouth, died Sunday, Dec. 19, 2010 at Pilgrim Manor Nursing Home.
She is survived by a daughter, Mary Sherwood of Plymouth; sons: Ronald (LaBerta) Sherwood
of Bourbon, David (Darcia) Sherwood of Walkerton, Kenneth (Rose Mary) Sherwood of Bourbon,
and Ed (Mary Louise) Sherwood of Illinois; a sister, Mable Griggs of South Bend; and a brother,
Russell, McQuisten of Plymouth.
Visitation will take place from 12 to 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 22 at Johnson-Danielson Funeral
Home, 1100 N. Michigan St., Plymouth.
Funeral services will take place at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will follow at
Morris cemetery, LaPaz.
Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
Lewis J. Duwelius
WESTVILLE -- Lewis J. Duwelius, 93, of 310 Ash Parkway, Westville, Ind., formerly of
Plymouth, passed away at 8:40 a.m., Monday, Dec. 20, 2010, at the Hospice House, in South Bend.
Lewis was born May 18, 1917, in Plymouth, to Harry J. and Loretta A. (Richard) Duwelius. Lewis
married
former Helen L. Zumbaugh Oct. 6, 1951 and enjoyed 31 years of marriage together.
Helen preceded Lewis, in death, April 16, 1983. July 7, 1984 Lewis married
Margaret Finney.
Margaret preceded him in death. On Nov. 3, 2001, Lewis and Doris M. Rosenbaum Doll were
united in marriage.
Lewis proudly served his country as a Sgt. In the United States Army, during WWII, at Battery C
139th Field Artillery Battalion. He farmed in the Marshall County area his entire life. He was a
member of the Knights of Columbus and Saint Michael Catholic Church, in Plymouth. Lewis and
Doris recently moved, from Plymouth, to the Westville area, to be near family.
Lewis is survived by his loving wife, Doris Duwelius of Westville; several stepchildren,
grandchildren and great-grandchildren; his sister, Bernice Gantz; and many nieces, nephews,
great-nieces, and great-nephews.
Lewis was preceded in death by his wife Helen; his wife Margaret; his infant sister, Loretta
Duwelius; and his brothers: Edwin, Lloyd, and Raymond Dewelius.
Memorials may be given to: Saint Michael Catholic Church, 612 N. Center St., Plymouth, IN, 46563.
