Howard “Coach” Leedy
LEBANON -- Howard “Coach” Leedy, died Dec. 10, 2010.
He is survived by his wife, Rosie; sons, Michael of Baltimore, Md. And Tim (Alicia) of Zionsville; a
daughter, Michelle (Chad) Timmons of Lebanon; seven grandchildren; and brothers: John
(Sharon) Leedy of Georgetown, Texas, Dr. Donald Leedy of Zionsville, and Charles Leedy of Fishers.
Visitation will take place from 2 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 15 and from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday,
Dec. 16 at Dover Christian Church, 995 North State Road 75, Lebanon.
Funeral services will take place at 11 a.m. Thursday at the church.
Myers Mortuary, Lebanon, assisted the family with arrangements.
Memorial contributions may be made to: Hope For His Children, Inc., 773 N. 700 W., Lebanon,
IN, 46052.

Charles A. Orangias
CULVER -- Charles A. “Chuck” Orangias, 51, of Culver, passed away Friday, Dec. 10, 2010.
Chuck was born April 16, 1959 in Melrose Park, Ill. He was one of the six children born to Mike
and Marie (Hartmann) Orangias. He attended and graduated from Plymouth High School in
1977. There he met and fell in love with his lifelong best friend, Kay Flosenzier. They were
married June 28, 1980. Their union was blessed with two children.
Chuck was a retired restaurant manager with the McDonalds Food Corp. He spent 25 years in
fast food management. He enjoyed fishing, traveling, trips to Chicago, attending his children’s
sporting events, following the Chicago Bears football and Louisville Cardinals basketball. A
naturalist, Chuck liked gardening and bird watching. He was a member of the Church of God
Prophecy in Taylorsville, Ky.
Chuck is survived by his wife, Kay of Plymouth; son, Michael Brandon Orangias of Louisville, Ky.;
daughter, Sarah Jean-Marie Orangias of Culver; faithful friend, Lilly Mae, their Australian
shepherd; brother, Anthony Orangias of Culver; sisters: Gloria Hainsworth of Carol Stream, Ill.,
Carol Ziert of Virginia, Linda Pettie of New Chaney, Texas, and Gail Orangias and husband
Trevor Skarber of Rochester.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
There will be no service or visitation.
Memorials may be given to the Culver Community Pantry, the Neighborhood Center in Plymouth,
the Marshall Co. Humane Society, or the American Kidney Fund in Chuck’s memory.
Arrangements are entrusted to the Odom Funeral Home in Culver.

Tom Ross Syler
TAMARAC, Fla. -- Tom Ross Syler, of Tamarac, Fla., formerly of Plymouth, died Friday, Dec.
10, 2010 at North Broward Medical Center, Pompano Beach, Fla.
He is survived by daughter Barbara Syler and cousin of Roland Toth.
Burial will take place at a later date in Indiana.
Arrangements under the direction of Kraeer/Mason Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 6701
W. Commercial Blvd., Tamarac, Fla.

John W. Ward
BREMEN -- John W. Ward, 83, of Bremen, died Friday, Dec. 10 in Bremen.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy; sons, Michael (Dotti) Ward of Bremen and Paul (Beth) Ward
of Lakeville; 10 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a sister, Bertie Mae Clayton of
Alabama.
Visitation will take place from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 12 at Mishler Funeral Home, 2030 S.R.
331, Bremen.
Funeral services will take place at 1:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 13 at the funeral home.
Burial will follow at Bremen cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Community Hospital of Bremen.

Betty Jean Wilhelm
PLYMOUTH -- Betty Jean Wilhelm, 80, died at 12:40 a.m. Friday, Dec. 10, 2010 in the
Catherine Kasper Life Center in Donaldson.
She was born in Grovertown, the daughter of Edward and Vera Stutsman Harness. Betty
graduated from Grovertown High School in 1948, and April 15, 1950, she and Jerome (Jerry)
were married in Hamlet and made their home in Plymouth.
She worked for Meck Electronics, Wagner Wire and for 25 years Betty was a production worker
at the Young Door Co.
She was a member of St. Michael Roman Catholic Church, the National 600 Bowling Club,
IBEW 1975, UAW Local #52, past member and officer in the K of C Auxiliary, Plymouth Rock
Ladies Golf League, the AARP, and the Harvest House. Betty enjoyed golf, Plymouth sports and
was all about being involved with her growing family of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Betty is survived by two daughters, Linda (Ed) Trump and Nancy (Jerry) Bowman, all of Plymouth.
Four grandchildren: Amy Bowman, Brian Trump, Brenda (Chris) Miller, and Angela (Ike)
Mendoza also survive. Six great-grandchildren: Daimen Trump, Franco and Ava Mendoza and
Cody, Colton and Cayden Miller survive as well.
Also surviving are two brothers, Carl (Eleanor) Harness of Grovertown and Marion “Cy” (Gloria)
Harness of Hamlet; sisters-in-law, Barbara Harness of Nappanee, Bev Haley of Crown Point,
Mariann Gappa of Bass Lake and family; as well as a brother-in-law, Dan Haley of Winamac;
and many nieces and nephews.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents, a brother Harry, a grandson, Brad Trump and her
spouse Jerry.
Friends may visit with the family Monday, Dec. 13, 2010 from 5 to 8 p.m. in the Johnson-Danielson
Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan St., Plymouth where a Rosary will be recited at 7:30
p.m.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 14 in St. Michael Catholic
Church, 613 N. Center St., Plymouth where visitation will continue after 10 a.m. Fr. William
Kummer will be the celebrant.
Burial will follow in New Oakhill cemetery, Plymouth.
Memorial gifts may be made to St. Michael Parish, Catherine Kasper Life Center, and Southern
Care Hospice.

Lucy B. Haug
WALKERTON -- Lucy B. Haug, 91, passed away Saturday, Dec. 11, 2010 in Miller’s Merry Manor, Walkerton.
Mrs. Haug was born April 7, 1919 in Donaldson, to Charles and Stella (Boyer) Dricker and lived
in the area all of her life. Nov. 26, 1939 in Twin Lakes, she was married to Carl M. Haug, who
preceded her in death.
Survivors include daughters: Sandra (Fred) Sobieck of Knox, Linda Haug of Bloomfield, Laura
Haug of Pierre, S.D., Carla (Mike) Cain of Walkerton, and Melissa (Bob) Jablonski of
Grovertown; nine grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
Mrs. Haug was a homemaker.
Cremation will take place with graveside services being held in the Spring at Grovertown cemetery.
There will be no visitation.
Rannells Funeral Home, Koontz Lake Chapel is handling arrangements.

Edward R. Imhoff
ROCHESTER -- Edward R. Imhoff, 9, of Rochester, died at 5:25 p.m. Saturday at Parkview
Hospital, Fort Wayne.
He is survived by his parents, Nathan and Annetta Ramer Imhoff; a brother, Walter; sisters:
Noreen, Louise, Eva Mae, Elaine and Juanita; maternal grandparents, Ben and Verna Ramer of
Rochester; paternal grandmother, Hettie Imhoff of Goshen; and numerous aunts, uncles and
cousins.
Visitation will take place from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Dec. 13 and from 1 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.
Tuesday, Dec. 14 at his home.
Funeral services will take place at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 15 at the Tippecanoe Old Order of
Mennonite Church in Newcastle Township, northeast Fulton County.
Burial will follow at the Tippecanoe Old Order of Mennonite cemetery.
Good Family Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Michael Murphy
NAPPANEE -- Michael “Mike” Murphy, 55, of Nappanee, died at 3:02 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 11,
2010, at Elkhart General Hospital, after having an illness.
He is survived by his daughters: Wendy (Ryan) Briscoe of Mishawaka, Alisha Murphy of Bluffton,
and Michelle Murphy of Bremen; a son, Benjamin (Stephanie) Murphy of Plymouth; three
grandchildren; and a brother, Tim Murphy of Atwood.
Cremation took place, and there will be a gathering of family and friends at ThompsonLengacher
& Yoder Funeral Home, Nappanee, Saturday, Dec. 18, from 1 to 2 p.m. with a 2 p.m. service.
Burial will follow at Bremen cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to Alcoholics Anonymous.

Rita Jane Lawson
CULVER -- Rita Jane Lawson, 73, of 629 Forest Place, Culver, entered the Church Triumphant
early Sunday morning, Dec. 12, 2010.
Rita was born in Sullivan, Ind. To Wm. Marshall and Rowena Alice (MacDonald) Foster of
Jasonville, Ind. Sept. 5, 1937. She lived in Jasonville and graduated from the Shakamak High
School in 1955 as the senior class valedictorian. Rita then graduated from Indiana State
Teacher’s College with a B.A. and from Indiana State University with an M.A. in Education. She
was married Sept. 7, 1958 to Latham Lane Lawson.
Rita taught in the Culver Public School System her entire teaching career. She taught fifth grade
and was the founder and Director of the Gifted and Talented Program.
She was a member of the Indiana State Teachers Association and served a term as president in
the local chapter, Culver Community Teachers Association.
Rita believed in community service and was involved as a member of the Culver Library Board,
Tri Kappa, the Culver City Club, and the Jr. Federated Women’s Club, of which she served as its
state director. She was a Founding Member of Culver Women’s Affinity Group, a new Fund
created through the Marshall County Community Foundation.
She was a 50-year member of Wesley United Methodist Church in Culver and served in a
number of capacities including as its treasurer. She was a member of the United Methodist
Women’s organization and involved with the Wesley Church Thrift Shop.
Rita is survived by her husband of 52 years; two daughters, Kelly Berger of Lafayette, and Abby
Lawson of Austin, Texas; a brother, Shelby (Sandy) Foster of Troy, Mich.; two sons-in-law, Rev.
Dan Berger of Lafayette and Jim Freeman of Austin, Texas; three granddaughters: Rebecca
Lane Freeman and Kirstyn Freeman of Austin, and Jessica Berger of South Bend; and a
grandson, Brandon Berger of Tacoma, Wash.
She is also survived by a number of brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Lucille Carney, Margie
Lawson, Ivan (Evelyn) Lawson, Doris (Sam) Pedigo, and Ida (Curt) Ray.
She was preceded in death by two brothers-in-law, Larry Lawson and Lowell Carney.
A time of visitation will be held Friday, Dec. 17, from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Wesley United Methodist
Church Fireside Room, 511 School St., Culver. A memorial service will be held Saturday, Dec.
18 at 11 a.m. at Wesley Church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Wesley United Methodist Church of
Culver or to the Culver Public Library.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Odom Funeral Home, Culver.

Sherry L. Maurer
BREMEN -- Sherry L. Maurer, 62, of Bremen, died Sunday, Dec. 12, 2010 at Community
Hospital of Bremen.
She is survived by her son, Rich (Maria) Maurer of Sebastian, Fla.; daughter, Angela Maurer of
Kewanna; 13 grandchildren; mother, Jeanette Bishop of South Bend; sisters, Marcia (Steve)
Brown of Mishawaka and Melanie (Bryan) Roush of Zionsville; and a brother, James L. Bishop
Jr. of Illinois.
Visitation will take place from 9 to 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 17 at Mishler Funeral Home, 2030 S.R.
331, Bremen.
Funeral services will take place at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Indiana Organ Procurement Organization (IOPO).

James A. Hodges
WARSAW -- James A. “Jimmy” Hodges, 34, of Warsaw, died at 1:18 a.m. Monday, Dec. 13,
2010 at Kosciusko Community Hospital of Warsaw.
He is survived by his mother, Judy Foster Scott of Warsaw; father, James (Debra) Hodges of
Rochester; fianceé, Christine Miller of Warsaw; a sister, Leslie Hodges of Warsaw; brothers:
Larry “Pete” (Jill) Thompson of Bourbon, Chad (Missy) Thompson of Warsaw, and Wesley
Hodges of Tippecanoe.
Visitation will take place from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 16 at Deaton-Clemens Funeral Home,
115 S. Main St., Bourbon.
Funeral services will take place at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 17 at the funeral home.
Burial will follow in the Pleasant Hill cemetery Bourbon.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart association.

Billy D. Reese
BREMEN -- Billy Dale Reese, 78, of Bremen, passed away Monday, Dec. 13, 2010 at Goshen
General Hospital.
He was born June 19, 1932 in Marshall County to David and Violet (Hepler) Reese. He married
Martha A. Griffin March 14, 1952. She preceded him in death March 16, 2010.
Bill was a welder for NIPSCO in Plymouth and was a lifelong farmer. He loved the outdoors; he
enjoyed hunting, fishing and hunting for mushrooms. He also enjoyed traveling and playing cards.
Survivors include three daughters: Cynthia A. Schroll of Cromwell, Vicki D. Hogan of Nappanee,
and Sherri L. (Jeff) Berger of Plymouth; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; two
sisters, Jane Ringle of Bremen and Joyce Manning of Plymouth; and a sister-in-law, Janice
Reese of Bremen.
He was preceded in death by his wife Martha, daughter Susan M. Schlemmer, and grandson
Randy Berger.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 17, at the Mishler Funeral Home, Bremen
and will be officiated by Pastor Kevin Miller.
Burial will follow at the Bremen cemetery.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 16, and one hour before the service, all at the
funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the National Kidney Foundation.
The Mishler Funeral Home in Bremen is assisting the family with arrangements.
