Samuel C. Johnson
PLYMOUTH -- Samuel C. “Sam” Johnson, age 77, of Windmill Drive, Plymouth, passed away at
5:58 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 9, 2010, at I.U. Medical Center in Indianapolis.
Sam was born Sept. 28, 1933, in North Liberty, to Samuel Milton and Leota (Guyse) Johnson.
July 13, 1957, Sam married
the former Alice Ottow in Donaldson. Together they raised their
three children.
Sam was retired from roadway construction and concrete work. He enjoyed going bowling and
going fishing. Sam had been a resident of the Marshall County area all of his life.
He served his country in the United States Army, from December of 1955 to December of 1957.
Sam is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Alice Johnson of Plymouth; their daughter, Renea
(Terry) Beldon of Plymouth; their sons, Robbin Johnson and Todd Johnson, both of Culver; his
sisters, Sharon (Paul) Hurford of Donaldson, and Anna Marie Powell of Plymouth; his brothers:
Jim (Macel) Johnson, Dean Johnson, and Robert Johnson, all of Florida; three grandchildren:
Aaron Beldon, Christopher Beldon, and Bryan Beldon; and two great-grandchildren, Keelin
Beldon and Kenyan Beldon.
Sam was preceded in death by his brothers, Ted and Herbert; and his sister, Rose Geisler.
Memorials may be given to the
Pretty Lake Trinity United Methodist Church.

James E. Moore
PLYMOUTH -- James E. Moore, 81, Plymouth, died in the Bremen Community Hospital at
10:15 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 9, 2010 of natural causes.
James was born in South Bend, May 29, 1929. He was the son of Marvin F. and Zeffa R.
(Conklin) Moore.
April 14, 1953, he married
Mildred Huff in the Trinity United Methodist Church, Plymouth.
He graduated from Tyner High School and went through his apprenticeship for sheet metal and
became a journeyman sheet metal worker. He was a member of Local #20 for 46 years serving
as business representative and vice president before retiring in 1990. He also served as a
trustee for the AFL-CIO.
He was a member of the Tyner Odd Fellows Lodge, twice serving as Noble Grand.
He loved to fish, bowl and was an avid spectator at local sports events. James enjoyed farming
and one of his hobbies was restoring old Allis-Chalmers tractors.
James is survived by his wife, Mildred Huff Moore, Plymouth; and by their five children: Sue Ann
(Ron) Johnson of Bremen, Jerry I. (Trenda) Moore of Plymouth, Jenny Moore of South Bend,
Thomas J. (Karen) Moore of Plymouth, and John E. (Jeanna) Moore of Pierceton.
Seventeen grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; a sister, Marvene Melton of Mishawaka; and a
brother, David O. Moore of Lakeville, survive as well.
James was preceded in death by a brother, Bill E. Moore; and a sister, Mary E. Hetzel.
Friends are invited to visit with James’ family from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 12 at the Johnson-Danielson
Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan St., Plymouth.
A memorial service will be given by the Tyner Oddfellow Lodge at 8 p.m. following visitation in
the funeral home.
Funeral services for James will be Saturday, Nov. 13, at 10 a.m. in the Tyner United Methodist
Church. The Rev. Michael Dixon will officiate.
Burial will be in the Morris cemetery on U.S. 6, west of LaPaz.
Memorials in James’ name may be made to the Tyner United Methodist Church.
Betty I. Stouder
SYRACUSE -- Betty I. Stouder, 88, Nappanee, died at 11 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 9, 2010 at Miller’s
Merry Manor, Syracuse.
She is survived by her husband, S. LaMar Stouder, Nappanee; daughters: Barbara S. Keiser of
Nappanee, Patricia E. (Mel) Witt of Carmel, and Julie A. Stouder of Nappanee; sons, Tim L.
(Connie) Stouder, of Nappanee and Roger L. (Vicki) Stouder of Osceola; eight grandchildren; 11
great-grandchildren; and a sister, Marilyn Fetters of Nappanee.
Visitation will take place from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 12 at the Nappanee Church of the
Brethren.
Funeral services will take place at 2 p.m. Friday at the church.
Burial will follow at Union cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Nappanee Church of the Brethren.

Brent L. Murphy
PLYMOUTH -- Brent L. Murphy, 58, of Plymouth was called home to the Lord on Wednesday, Nov. 10, 2010.
Brent was born Nov.24, 1951 in Plymouth to Otho L. & Bernice (Parker) Murphy. He married
Judith L. Wright on July 18, 1971 in Idaville. She survives.
Brent enjoyed farming, gardening, landscaping and all of nature’s beauty, especially when
camping. Brent and Judy spent 22 years dairy farming in Lakeville. They retired farming and he
worked for Graphix Unlimited in Bremen from 1992 until October of 2010.
Survivors include his wife Judy Murphy of Plymouth, two sons: Stan J. Murphy of Bremen and
Scott R. Murphy of Koontz Lake; one daughter Jeannie M. (husband Knight) Wennerstrom of
Lafayette; two granddaughters: Catara K Murphy and Amelyia Wennerstrom; parents Otho and
Bernice Murphy of Plymouth and sister Constance K. Danforth of Indianapolis.
Funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov.13, 2010 at the Mishler Funeral Home in
Bremen and will be officiated by Pastor Kevin Miller. Burial will follow at the Morris cemetery.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 12, 2010 at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, Marshall County Hospice
or to the Bremen United Methodist Church.
Ruth I. Rensberger
PLYMOUTH -- Ruth I. Rensberger, 85, formerly of Windmill Park, Plymouth, a lifetime area
resident, died in the Meadowvale Care Center in Bluffton, Ind. Wednesday, Nov. 10, 2010, at
6:45 a.m. She had resided with her sister Mary Alice Workman in Bluffton after experiencing
failing health.
Born in Tyner, Ind. Jan. 5, 1925, she was the daughter of John and Ruby (Jones) Baker. She
graduated from Tyner High School.
May 9, 1944, in Plymouth, Ruth and Herman C. Rensberger were married
. Herman died May 18, 1999.
Ruth had worked as a part-time cafeteria worker in the Argos Elementary School for 10 years.
For 22 years, she was also in the circulation department of the Pilot News in Plymouth. She then
retired in 1989.
Her hobby was bowling. She also attended the Plymouth Wesleyan Church.
Ruth is survived by her sister, Mary Alice; and sisters-in-law, Betty Baker of Plymouth, and
Phyllis Baker of Round Lake, Ill.
Several nieces and nephews survive as well.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, George and Vern Baker; and a sister, Goldie Street.
Friends are invited to visit with her family from 11 to 1 p.m. Sunday, Nov, 14, in the Johnson-Danielson
Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan St., Plymouth.
Funeral services for Ruth will follow the visitation at 1 p.m. The Rev. Ed Friberg, senior’s pastor
of the Plymouth Wesleyan Church and Rev. George Killian will officiate.
Burial will follow in New Oakhill cemetery, Plymouth.

Irene M. Sheetz
WARSAW -- Irene M. Sheetz, 94, died at 3 a.m. Nov. 10, 2010 at the Garden’s of Lake City in Warsaw.
Survivors include her son, Royce Sheetz of Escondido, Calif.; daughter Phyllis (Dale) Borkholder
of Warsaw; nine grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday Nov. 13 at Pleasant View Bible Church in Warsaw officiated
by Rev. Fred Plastow. Calling will be one hour prior to the service at the church.
Memorials may be made to Pleasant View Bible Church or the Alzheimer’s Association.

Dolores J. Gjemre
KOONTZ LAKE -- Dolores J. Gjemre, 83, passed away Nov. 11, 2010 in Sebring, Fla.
She is survived by daughters: Jeana Shireman of Midlothian, Va., Nancy Wieczork of Koontz
Lake and Jody Rannells of Koontz Lake; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Visitation will take place from 2 to 8 p.m. (CT) Monday, Nov. 15 and one hour before services
Tuesday at Rannells Funeral Home Koontz Lake Chapel.
Funeral services will take place at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 16 at St. Matthew Lutheran Church, Hamlet.

GOSHEN -- Richard L. Hill, 79, of Goshen, died at 9:20 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 11, 2010 at his
residence, after an illness.
He is survived by his wife Helen; sons: Mark (Cindy) Hill of Wakarusa, Craig (Paula) Hill of
Mishawaka, Terry (Kim) Hill of Mishawaka, Chuck (Kim) Hill of Mishawaka, Tom (Rachele) Hill of
Goshen; a daughter, Sandy (Clint) Aycock of Greenville, S.C.; 28 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren;
sisters: Virginia Coddens of Elkhart, Donna Gibson of South Bend, and Ruth
(James) Schmeltz of Wakarusa; and a brother, David (Karen) Hill Mishawaka.
Visitation will take place from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 14 at Thompson-Lengacher & Yoder
Funeral Home, 501 N. Elkhart St., Wakarusa.
Funeral services will take place at 10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 15 at Living Faith Fellowship, 2601

ELKHART -- Phyllis R. Kaufman, 95, of Elkhart, formerly of Nappanee, died at 12 p.m.
Thursday, Nov. 11, 2010 at Golden Living Center.
She is survived by sons, Richard C. (Liz) Kaufman of Centennial, Colo. and William G. (Mary)
Kaufman of Seattle, Wash.; two grandsons; a sister, Marjorie Funk of Altoona, Penn.; and a nephew.
Visitation will take from 9 a.m. Monday, Nov. 15 until the time of services at Nappanee United
Methodist Church.
Funeral services will take place at 10:30 a.m. at Nappanee United Methodist Church.
Burial will follow at South Union cemetery.

KNOX -- Dorothy Helen Pinks, 71, died Thursday, Nov. 11, 2010, in her home.
She is survived by a sister, Martha (Gerald) Bonner of Valparaiso; four sisters-in-law: Dolly
Karch, Barbara Decker, and Cindy Karuss, all of LaPorte, and Ethel Feddler of Knox; four
brothers-in-law: Virgil Pinks of Georgia, William Pinks of LaPorte, Charles Pinks of Francesville,
and Mack Pinks of Stanton, Ky.; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will take place from 4 to 8 p.m. (CT) Sunday, Nov. 14, and one hour prior to services
Monday at Rannells Funeral Home, Hamlet Chapel.
Funeral services will take place at 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 15 at the Highway Chapel Church of
God, Hamlet. Burial will follow at Eagle Creek cemetery, Knox.
Marilyn A. Stewart
PLYMOUTH -- Marilyn A. Stewart, 89, of Pilgrim Manor Nursing Home, formerly of Bourbon
died Thursday, Nov. 11, 2010 in Pilgrim Manor Nursing Home.
She is survived by her children: Don Stewart and Kevin Stewart, both of Bourbon, and Dale
(Sharon) Stewart of Fort Wayne; 10 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and brother, Loren
(Susanna) Carswell of Culver.
A social gathering with the family will take place from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 21 at the Bourbon
American Legion Post #424.

PLYMOUTH -- Virginia F. Dancy, 87, of Plymouth, formerly of Culver, died at 9:02 a.m. Friday,
Nov. 12, 2010.
She is survived by a son, Charles Dancy of Arizona; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
There will be no visitation.
Graveside services will take place at 3 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 16 at Culver Masonic cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Shriners Children’s Hospital and may be sent to the
funeral home.

Tamra “Tammy” Lynn (Hopf) Hughes
ARGOS -- Tamra “Tammy” Lynn (Hopf) Hughes, 52, of Argos, died at 8:50 a.m., Nov. 12, 2010
at her residence following a lengthy illness.
She is survived by her husband, David Hughes.
