ROCHESTER -- Wendall Leon Stewart 85, died at 4:47 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 25, 2010.
He is survived by his wife, Carol; a daughter, Bernita (Allen) Conrad of Centerville; son Kevin
(Elizabeth) Stewart of Warsaw; two grandchildren; a sister, Gwendolyn (John) Fullen of
Indianapolis; and brother, Richard (Darlene) Stewart of Kokomo.
Visitation will take place from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 26 and one hour prior to services
Wednesday at Good Family Funeral Home, 1200 W. 18th St., Rochester.
Funeral services will take place at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 27 at the funeral home.
Burial with military services will follow at 2 p.m. at Fairview cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Camp We Can or The Northern Indiana Community
Foundation: Fulton County.
Dorothy L. Wilson
WALKERTON -- Dorothy L. Wilson, 84, of Irving, Texas, formerly of Walkerton, died Oct. 25,
2010 in Texas after a lengthy illness, due to cancer.
She is survived by a daughter, Carol Hooker of Texas; a son, Jerry Wilson of Texas; a brother,
James H. Haney of Walkerton; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Visitation will take place from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. (ET) Saturday, Oct. 30 at Rannells Funeral
Home, Koontz Lake Chapel.
Funeral services will take place at 1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
Burial will follow at Woodlawn cemetery, Walkerton.
Velma P. Bules
BOURBON -- Velma P. Bules, 87, of Bourbon, died at 4:35 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 26, 2010 at
Miller’s Merry Manor Nursing Home, Plymouth.
She is survived by her husband Dale; children: Rachel (Richard) Weik of Middletown, Penn.,
Karen Bules (Allen) of Oak Park, Ill, Diane (Max) Zolman of Knoxville, Tenn., Stan (Carol) Bules
of Bourbon, and Mark (Cindy) Bules of Rolling Prairie; 16 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren;
one great-great-grandchild; and a sister, Lorna Miller of Bourbon.
Visitation will take place from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 29 at Deaton-Clemens Funeral Home 115
S. Main St. Bourbon.
Funeral services will take place at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 30 at Mount Pleasant Church of the
Brethren.
Burial will follow in the Mount Pleasant cemetery.

Nelda M. Humphrey
LAPORTE -- Nelda M. Humphrey, 66, of LaPorte, died Thursday Oct. 28, 2010 at LaPorte
Hospital.
She is survived by her sons: Robert Humphrey II of LaPorte, Sherman (Shaelane) Humphrey of
Plymouth, Charles (Tammy) Humphrey of Walkerton; nine grandchildren; nine great grandchildren;
sisters, Barbara Pentland of Stillwater, Minn. and Julia Longebrake of Middlebury;
brothers, Charles R. Brown of Elkhart and Andrew Brown, Jr. of LaPorte; and mother-in-law,
Betty M. Humphrey of LaPorte.
Visitation will take place from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 31 at Haverstock Funeral Home, 602
Maple Ave., LaPorte, and one hour prior to services Monday at Calvery Baptist Church.
Funeral services will take place at 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 1 at the church.
Burial will follow at the Patton cemetery.

T. Edward “Ted” Ummel
ARGOS -- T. Edward “Ted” Ummel, Argos, after a courageous battle with acute myeloid
luekemia, diagnosed in June of this year, died unexpectedly in the I. U. Medical Center,
Indianapolis at 4:30 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 28, 2010.
In his blog on CaringBridge.org, Ted wrote that he had been blessed to have had an uneventful
medical history with no surgeries or hospital stays from birth until this past June.
His symptoms appeared in late May, early June, leading to a diagnosis June 10. He underwent
chemo, stem cell and bone marrow treatments over the past four months.
Ted was 55 years old.
A loving husband, father, son, brother, and uncle, he was born March 6, 1955, in South Bend.
He was the son of Richard L. and Jacquelyn E. McReynolds Ummel.
Ted lived in Brasil, South America, with his missionary parents from the ages of one to 18 and
graduated from the Green Acre High School, a boarding school in Brasil, in 1973. He played
soccer with a club team. He loved the game and loved the country of Brasil and would proudly fly
her flag on particular occasions.
He did his undergraduate work at Bethel College and graduated in 1977. While there he worked
full time as the assistant manager of a Sherwin Williams store in Mishawaka.
He earned his Doctorate of Jurisprudence from Valparaiso University in 1980, and was a partner
in the law firm of Easterday and Ummel.
June 10, 1978, Ted and Brenda Risser were married
in the Bethel Missionary Church in Goshen.
Ted coached multiple Argos recreational soccer teams for the Argos Youth Soccer association
for 30 years. Treasurer of the group, he was also in charge of the referees and scheduling of the
games.
A committed Christian, Ted served on the Board of Directors of the Missionary Church, the
United Missionary Loans and Investments and the Missionary Church Investment Foundation.
He was an active member of the Plymouth Missionary Church where he had served as treasurer
and was a Sunday School teacher. He was also on the management team of the Missionary
Church North Central District.
Very active in the Republican Party, Ted was treasurer of the Marshall County G.O.P. for 30
years. He was a member of the State Bar Association and the Marshall County Bar.
Ted is survived by his wife, Brenda, Argos, with whom he shared his life for 32 years.
Also surviving is their son Phillip Ummel, Goshen, and their daughter, Tracy Ummel, Denver,
Colo.
His granddogger, “Nash, ” a beloved pet, also survives.
Ted’s mother, Jacquelyn, Leo, Ind.; a brother, Michael (Joanne) Ummel, Leo, Ind.; and sister,
Anita (Roger) Riquelme, Asuncion, Paraguay, S.A.; survive together with a father-in-law, Robert
Risser, Hudson Falls, N.Y.; a sister-in-law, Vikki Frieden, living in Missouri; and many nieces and
nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Richard L. Ummel; a brother, Richard L. “Rick” Jr.; and
his mother-in-law, Phyllis J. Risser.
Visitation will be Tuesday, Nov. 2 from 1 to 3 and 5 to 8 p.m. at the Nappanee Missionary
Church, 70417 S.R. 19 North, Nappanee, Ind.
A funeral service will be held at the same location Wednesday, Nov. 3 at 10 a.m. The
Reverends Pat Puglisi and Dave Engbrecht will conduct the service, a celebration of Ted’s life.
Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan St., Plymouth, is assisting the family with
arrangements.
Interment will be in the Wakarusa Olive West cemetery.
Memorials may be given to Plymouth Missionary Church, Nappanee Missionary Church or
Bethel College.
Susie "Carolyn" Borkholder
NAPPANEE -- Susie “Carolyn” Borkholder, 70, Nappanee, died at 3:50 a.m. Friday, Oct. 29,
2010 at her residence.
She is survived by her husband Noah; son Jacob (Bertha) Borkholder of Nappanee; son-in-law,
Devon (Martha) Schmucker of Lovington, Ill.; five grandchildren; two step grandchildren; two
step great-grandchildren; brothers: Glen A. (Mary) Miller of Nappanee, Harley A. (Barbara) Miller
of Etna Green; Jake Miller of Arizona; Amos Miller Jr. of Nappanee; and sisters: Ada Mae
(Herman) Miller of Bourbon, Katie (Alvin) Miller of Bourbon, and Mary (Kenneth) Miller of
Bourbon.
Visitation will take place after 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 30 and all day Sunday at Jacob Borkholder’s
residence.
Funeral services will take place at 9:30 a.m. at the Jacob Borkholder residence.
Burial will follow at Graber cemetery.

Barbra Lynn (Aquino) Walters
KNOX -- Barbra Lynn (Aquino) Walters, 73, of Valparaiso, formerly of Francesville and Knox,
died Friday, Oct. 29, 2010.
She is survived by her husband, Elton Earnest Walters; daughter, Sonja; sons: Kenny Jr., Carl,
and Danny; 10 grandchildren; brothers: Raymond (Rosie) Hollorwy, Joe (Linda) Aquino, Eddie
(Mary) Aquino, Paul (Elaine) Aquino, David (Mary) Aquino, and Tommy (Reba) Aquino; and
sisters, Joan (Aaron) Patrick and Elizabeth (Harold) Flynn.
Visitation took place from 4 to 8 p.m. (CT) Sunday, Oct. 31 at Braman & Son Funeral Home, Knox.
Funeral services will take place at 1 p.m. Monday, Nov. 1 at the funeral home.

ROCHESTER -- Judith Ann Hutchison 71, of Rochester, and longtime Fulton, Ind. resident, died
at 7:33 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 30, 2010 at her residence.
She is survived by her husband, Cotus LeRoy Hutchison of Rochester; sons: Cotus Eugene
Hutchison of Clinton, Ill., David Hutchison of Rochester, Tim Hutchison of Fulton, Chuck
Hutchison of Eugene, Ore., Steven Hutchison of Dandridge, Tenn. And Shaun Hutchison of
Dandridge, Tenn.; daughter, Pam Clay of Rochester; 11 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren;
and brother, Bill Middaugh, Henderson, Nev.
Visitation took place from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, Nov. 1 and one hour prior to services Tuesday at
Zimmerman Bros. Funeral Home, Rochester. An Eastern Star service took place at 7:30 p.m.

WAKARUSA -- Walter H. Martin, 72, Wakarusa, died at 10:49 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 30 at Elkhart
General Hospital.
He is survived by his wife Erma; sons: Glenn (Rhoda) Martin of Goshen, Larry (Anna Mary)
Martin of Sheridan, Mich., Arthur (Mary Ann) Martin of Wakarusa, William (Elva) Martin of
Sheridan, Mich., and Raymond (Arlene) Martin of Goshen; daughters: Marlene (David)
Zimmerman of Goshen, Margaret (Lester) Shirk of Goshen, Mary Ellen (Jonas) Zimmerman of
Wakarusa, and Ruth (J. Elmer) Martin of Goshen; daughter-in-law, Anna (David) Kilmer of
Elkhart; 63 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Lucy Martin of Goshen.

SOUTH BEND -- Harry L. Shoup, formerly of Bremen, died Saturday, Oct. 30, 2010 at
Providence House in South Bend.

Wednesday at Mishler Funeral Home in Bremen.
Funeral services will take place at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 3 at Bremen Church of the Brethren.

Guy, Jr. Breeding
INWOOD -- Loving father, grandpa, and great-grandpa, Guy Breeding Jr., 87, of Inwood,
passed away Sunday, Oct. 31, 2010, at his home.
Guy was born April 17, 1923, in Waterman, Ill., to Guy M. Breeding, Sr. and Florence E.
(Schreiber) Breeding. Guy moved to Plymouth in 1929, where he attended Plymouth Schools.
He graduated from Lincoln High School, Plymouth, in the Class of 1942.
July 27, 1944, Guy married
the former Marjorie E. Yockey, at the home of the bride.
Guy worked on the family farm and also farmed land for others. His love was to be out on the
farm working or working on farm equipment.
Guy and Marjorie bought the Case Dealership, May 12, 1952, from Maynard Norton. They later
added more lines: New Idea, Gehl, and Funk G. Hybrid Seed Corn. In 1971 Guy quit selling new
equipment and started selling used equipment and doing repair work.
He always put his customers first. In 2008 his health made his time at the shop, limited. He didn’t
want to give up working, so he would go to the shop as often as he could. Guy enjoyed being on
a golf league and a Monday night bowling league.
He also attended the Plymouth Wesleyan Church.
Guy is survived by his daughters: Phyllis (Noel) Hawley, Anita Breeding, and Barbara (Bob)
Craft, all of Plymouth; his sons: Richard (June) Breeding of Plymouth, the Rev. Lyle (Pat)
Breeding of Bluffton, and Keith (Nancy) Breeding of Donaldson; 12 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren;
and his cousins, Jake and Faye Heyl of Aurora, Ill.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Marjorie; his parents, Guy Sr. and Florence;
his sister, June E. Breeding; and a great-grandchild.
