Carol J. Garn
CULVER -- Carol J. Garn, 66, of 212 1/2 N. Main St. Culver, passed away Thursday, Sept. 30,
2010 at 8:35 a.m. in the Center for Hospice, Elkhart.
She was born in Argos, Dec. 12, 1943, to the late Lloyd L. and Isabelle M. Lamb Brockey. Carol
was raised in Fulton County and was a proud graduate of Richland Center High School with the
class of 1961.
A year later, Carol graduated from Vogue Beauty School in South Bend. She worked at Ristance
Products for several years.
Carol is survived by a daughter, Cynthia D. (Joseph) Young of Hickory, N.C.; a son, Scott A.
Kinney of Granger; a brother, Ray (Mary) Brockey of Plymouth; and three grandchildren: Danielle
Young, Carissa Young, Zachary Young, all of North Carolina.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
A celebration of the life of Carol Garn will be at 2 pm Friday, Oct. 8, in the Good Family Funeral
Home, 1200 W. 18th St. Rochester, with Rev. Maurice Grindle officiating.
Friends may visit with the family two hours prior to the service. Interment will be in the Rochester
IOOF cemetery, Rochester.
Memorials may be made to the Center For Hospice Care of Elkhart or to the National
Rheumatoid Arthritis Foundation.
Jonathan Edgar William Langley
ROCHESTER -- Jonathan Edgar William Langley, 28, of 1208 Elm St. Rochester, passed away
at 3:59 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 30, 2010 at Woodlawn Hospital.
He is survived by his wife, Hailee Langley of Rochester; mother, Teresa Maynard of Rochester;
father, Darrell Langley of Chesterfield; sister, Julia Langley of Rochester; brother, Justin Langley
of Rochester; three nieces; two nephews; grandparents, Edgar and Edith “Mary” Langley of
Marklesville, and Dorothy Noftsger of Rochester.
A celebration of the life of Jonathan Edgar William Langley will be at 10 a.m., Tuesday, Oct. 5,
2010 in the Good Family Funeral Home, 1200 W. 18th St., Rochester with Pastor Jerry Pitman
officiating. Friends may visit with the family from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday and one hour prior to the
service in the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Good Family Funeral Home in his name.
Flora W. Mohler
PLYMOUTH -- Flora W. Mohler, 93, of Plymouth, formerly of Monticello, died Thursday, Sept.
30 at Miller’s Merry Manor Nursing Home, Culver.
She is survived by son, James Thomas “Tom” (Dana) Mohler of Monticello; daughters, Ruth Ann
(Phil) Crutchfield of Plymouth, and Mary Elaine “Spunk” (Fred) Reinhold of Monterey; stepdaughter,
Marcia Lee Cain of Indianapolis; brother, Budd (Emma) Moore of Oscela; sister, Mary
E. Reinholt of Plymouth; eight grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren
and step-great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be Sunday, Oct. 3 at 2 p.m. at the Miller-Roscka Funeral Home, 6368 E.
U.S. 24, Monticello.
Graveside services will follow at 4 p.m. at the Hoover cemetery, rural Athens.
Visitation is Sunday, Oct. 3 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Miller-Roscka Funeral Funeral Home.
Charles "Butch", Jr. Pazera
WALKERTON -- Charles "Butch" Pazera Jr., 65, died Friday, Oct. 1, 2010 in his home.
He is survived by his daughters, Gina Ann Carey of Crown Point, and Shelly Marie Narragon of
Champlin, Minn.; a son, Charles Robert Pazera of Indianapolis; seven grandchildren; sisters,
Marion Savage of Plymouth, and Kathy Pastor of Hobart.
Visitation will take place from 2 to 6 p.m. (Eastern Time) Wednesday, Oct. 6 at Rannells Funeral
Home, Koontz Lake Chapel.
Funeral services will take place at 6 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral chapel.
Burial will take place Thursday at the Abraham Lincoln National cemetery, Elwood, Ill. with full
military services.
Mary Alice Flora Edgar
BREMEN -- Mary Alice Flora Edgar, 75, of Bremen, died at 2:02 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 2, 2010, at
Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center, in Mishawaka.
She is survived by her brothers, John (Margaret) Flora of Argos, and Louis Flora of Bremen; a
nephew; and four nieces.
There will be no visitation or funeral services.

arrangements.
Nina C. Schafer
BREMEN – Nina C. Schafer, 95, lifetime Bremen area resident, died at 8:15 p.m. Monday, Oct.
4, 2010 at her residence.
Nina was born at home Aug. 10, 1915, the youngest of four children of Walter and Eva Kaiser
Albert.
She was a 1933 graduate of LaPaz High School.
June 24, 1939, Nina and Howard E. “Bob” Schafer were married
in South Bend. They bought
their farm, where Nina was still living, Oct. 14, 1940. Howard died Nov. 4, 2009.
Nina worked at Ball Band in South Bend from 1935 until 1941. She later worked at LaVille High
School until her grandchildren were born, at which time she quit to spend time with them.
An avid gardener, she loved growing beautiful flowers. She attended Plymouth Missionary
Church from it’s very beginning and was very active in church functions until her later years.
Nina is survived by two daughters and their children: Janet Gottlieb of Hobart, and her
daughters, LaVonda (Jim) Gibson of Granville, Ohio and Brenda (Jeremy) Palmer of Fishers;
Connie Ullery and her children, Richard (Dawn) Ullery and Melinda (Kyle) Hawkins, all of
Bremen; nine great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a sister, Mable Bosworth; and an infant
brother and sister.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 6 in the Johnson-Danielson
Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan St., Plymouth.
Calling will continue after 9 a.m. until time of services at 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 7 in the
Plymouth Missionary Church, 1350 E. Jefferson St., officiated by the Rev. Patrick Puglisi and the
Rev. Charles Krieg.
Burial will follow in Bremen cemetery.
Memorial gifts in Nina's name may be given to the Marshall County 4-H Fair Board.
Rita M. Sallee
WINAMAC -- Rita M. Sallee, 78, of Winamac, formerly of North Judson, died Tuesday, Oct. 5,
2010 at Hickory Creek.
She is survived by daughters: Margaret Miller, Chicago, Ill., Araminta (Steve) Fites, Winamac,
Eliza (Glenn) Brodbelt, Plymouth, and Mary Ann Sallee, Winamac; a son, Robbie Sallee,
Merrillville; a sister, Antoinette (Don) Teutemacher of South Haven; eight grandchildren; and two
great-grandchildren.
Visitation will take place from 4 to 8 p.m. (CT) Thursday, Oct. 7 at O’Donnell Funeral Home Inc.,
302 Lane St., North Judson.
Funeral services will take place at 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 8 at the funeral home.
Burial will follow at Highland cemetery.
Madeline Ann O'Rourke
KOKOMO -- Madeline Ann O’Rourke, 89, Kokomo, formerly of Argos, died at 6:37 p.m.
Wednesday, Oct. 6, 2010 at St. Vincent Health/St. Joseph Hospital, Kokomo, following a fourmonth
illness.
She is survived by a son, Dr. Peter W. (Kathy) O’Rourke of Kokomo; six grandchildren; three
great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at a later date with burial in St. Patrick’s cemetery, Lowell, Mass.
Earl-Grossman Funeral Home, Argos, is assisting the family with local arrangements.
Michael E. Ritenour
PLYMOUTH -- Michael E. Ritenour, 54, of 120 E. Monroe St., Plymouth, passed away
Wednesday, Oct. 6, 2010, at 11:58 a.m., at his home.
Mike was born April 23, 1956, in Bremen, to Elmer and Virginia (Thomas) Ritenour. Mike
graduated from LaVille High School, in the Class of 1974. He worked at Young Door, as a
production worker and at the Ferro Corporation, as a paint mixer. He was also a member of
UAW Local #5. He drove stock car, #99, for three years at Capital Raceway in Plymouth, and
was an avid NASCAR and Dale Earnhardt fan.
Mike is survived by his sister, Patricia (David) Kuder of Plymouth; his brothers, Steve (Jackey)
Ritenour of Plymouth and Jack Ritenour of LaPaz; several neices and nephews; and his faithful
friend, his dog Tazz.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Terry.

George G. Terrusco
SEBRING, Fla. -- George G. Terruso, 82, of Sebring, Fla., formerly of Lakeville, died
Wednesday, Oct. 6, 2010, in Sebring.
He is survived by his wife, Bettylou Brenneman Terruso of Sebring; a son, Don Terruso of
Plymouth; daughters: Ashley (Shawn) Terruso, Doti (Gary) Wagner, Dodi (Dean) Pearson, Linda
Lou (Mike) Sandlin, and Cindy Sue Scandling; and several grandchildren and great grandchildren.
There will be no visitation or services.

The National Cremation Society assisted the family in Florida.

BOURBON -- Janet Sue Weldy, 71, of Bourbon, died Wednesday, Oct. 6, 2010 at 3:24 a.m. at
her residence.
She is survived by her children; Sherri (Terry) McGuire of Bourbon, Tony (Lori) Wicker of Knox,
Bill Wicker of Union, Mich., Dave Wicker of Bremen, Carol (Larry) Cloud of Union, Mich., Kathy
Williams of Nappanee and James Williams of Michigan City; 17 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren;
sisters: Diana Wright of LaPaz, Glenna Swearingin of Syracuse, Arretta (Joe)
Miller of Syracuse; and a brother, Frank (Judy) Stapleton of Foreaker.
Visitation will take place from noon to 2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 11 at the Deaton-Clemens Funeral
Home, Bourbon.
Funeral services will take place at 2 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Violet B. Miller Darkwood
NAPPANEE -- Violet B. Miller Darkwood, 98, of Nappanee, died at 8:35 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 7,
2010 at her residence.
She is survived by a son, James A. (Helen) Miller of Nappanee; a daughter, Carol Leman of
Michigan City; two stepdaughters, Waneta Benson of Pennsylvania and Thelma Snyder of
Kansas; a sister, Evelyn (Harmon) Mitchel of Tennessee; sisters-in-law, Dorothy Miller of
Nappanee and Freida Bowers of Wakarusa; and six grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; one
step great-grandchild; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will take place from 1 to 3 p.m. Monday, Oct. 11 at Union Center Church of the
Brethren.
Funeral services will take place at 3 p.m. Monday at the church with Rev. Jim Davis of Union
Center Church of the Brethren.
Burial will follow at South Union cemetery, Nappanee.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Elkhart County Hospice or the Union Center Church
of the Brethren.
Richard Lee Fisher
CULVER -- Richard Lee Fisher, 89, of Culver, formerly of the Indianapolis area, passed away
Oct. 8, 2010 at 11:30 p.m. at Saint Joseph’s Regional Medical Center, Plymouth.
Richard was born in Morehouse, Mo. Feb. 27, 1921. He was raised in Morehouse and spent
summers on Lake Maxinkuckee. His grandmother was among the first settlers on Long Point.
Richard attended the University of Missouri for several years before joining the Army Air Force to
serve as a bombardier during WWII. His most notable flying mission was over the oil fields of
Pioesti, Romania. During his career in the armed forces he was awarded a Distinguished Flying
Cross.
He married
Virginia Lee McIntyre in 1943 and the had five daughters. He made his living as a
residential developer in the Indianapolis area. Later in life he and Virginia made their permanent
residence on the south shore of Lake Maxinkuckee. Richard loved to spend his free time
reading, working in the garden, enjoying a good party, and sailing.
He was a member of the Naples Sailing Club and a devoted member of the VFW. He and
Virginia were instrumental in creating Heritage Park in Culver.
He is survived by his daughters, Pamela Fisher of Culver, Priscilla Fisher (George) of Naples,
Fla., Jennifer Fisher Shea (Jamie) of Culver; grandchildren: Nicki Birrell Jentgen, Jackson Kent
Jentgen and Devon Lingle.
He was preceded in death by his wife Virginia; and two daughters, Jenny lee Fisher, in infancy,
and Melissa Fisher Birrell.
A memorial service will be held Monday, Oct. 18 at 11 a.m. at the Culver Academy Memorial Chapel.
