Donald R. Stoike, 73, of 1729 Shenandoah Drive, died at 4:55 p.m. Friday, Sept. 23, 2005, in the emergency room at St. Elizabeth Medical Center.

John L. Biddinger, 81
John L. Biddinger, 81, the father of a local resident, died Saturday, Sept. 24, 2005, in Columbus, Ind. He lived in Westport, Ind.
Mr. Biddinger was retired general manager of the Otter Creek Golf Course in Columbus, and was an Army veteran of World War II.
He was a member of the Westport Kiwanis Club and American Legion and the Indiana Golf Association. He had received the Clifford E. Wagner Memorial Award.
Surviving are his wife, Evangeline G. Biddinger, and a daughter, Annette Perkins (husband: Scott), both of Westport, and a son, Ross Biddinger (wife: Barbara) of Lafayette.
Virginia Church, 84
Virginia Timmons Church, 84, of Lafayette died at 12:42 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 24, 2005, in St. Elizabeth Medical Center.
Born March 24, 1921, in Pulaski County, she married Roy F. Church on Dec. 31, 1938, in Lafayette. He preceded her in death June 12, 1993.
Mrs. Church was a homemaker. She enjoyed gardening, watching basketball and interior decorating.
Survivors include a son, Roy Church (wife: Shirley) of Lafayette; and three sisters, Geraldine Foster (husband: Bill) and Betty Akire, both of Lafayette, and Irene Berlin of Abbey Springs, Wis.
Marjorie J. Ehresman, 81
MONTMORENCI -- Marjorie Jane Ehresman, 81, of Montmorenci, died at 7:46 p.m. Friday, Sept. 23, 2005, in St. Elizabeth Medical Center.
Born July 10, 1924, in Lafayette, she graduated from Montmorenci High School in 1942. She also graduated from Butler University/Indiana University School of Nursing in 1947.
Mrs. Ehresman was a registered nurse. She had worked at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Lafayette, Community Hospital in Covina, Calif., and at State Farm Insurance in West Lafayette. She was a volunteer Girl Scout leader, and a nurse for summer 4-H and church camps. She was the recipient of the 1993 YWCA Salute to Women Homemaking Award.
Her marriage was to Charles M. "Chuck" Ehresman on Nov. 27, 1947, in Otterbein, and he survives.
Mrs. Ehresman was a member of the Faith Lutheran Church, Delta Gamma sorority, Order of Eastern Star Beulah Chapter 102 in Otterbein and the Venture and Shelby Township Homemakers Club.
Surviving with her husband are two daughters, Lizabeth "Ticky" Eaton of Frankfort and Alecia Wiltgen (husband: Jim) of Lafayette; two sons, Martin Ehresman of Indianapolis and Derik Ehresman (wife: Joella) of Indialantic, Fla.; and one sister, Donna Stockment of Fowler.
Leone B. Freed, 89
WEST POINT -- Leone B. Hall Freed, 89, of Regency Place, formerly of West Point, died at 6:10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 23, 2005, at Home Hospital.
She was born May 6, 1916, in Pulaski County, and had lived in the West Point area since 1951.
A 1934 graduate of Wolcott High School, she was a homemaker and played an active role in the farm operation. From the 1970s to the mid-1990s, she was a vendor at the Farmers' Markets. She also raised chickens and sold eggs for many years.
Her marriage was to Harold A. Freed on Feb. 20, 1939, in Lafayette. He preceded her in death Oct. 13, 1989.
Mrs. Freed was a member of the West Point United Methodist Church. Her hobbies were cooking and gardening and she enjoyed genealogy.
Surviving are a son, Lester E. Freed (wife: Sandra) of Lafayette; and one daughter, Linda Eastman (husband: Mark), also of Lafayette.

EARL PARK -- Bernard E. Schellenberger, 68, died at noon Saturday, Sept. 24, 2005, in his Earl Park residence.

Cathy Slayton, 50, of West Lafayette, died at 3:15 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 24, 2005, in St. Elizabeth Medical Center.

Robert L. Steele, 68
COLFAX -- Robert Lowell Steele, 68, of 105 Meridian St., died Friday, Sept. 23, 2005, in the Veterans' Administration Hospital, Indianapolis.
Born Jan. 7, 1937, in Clinton County, he was an Army veteran.
On June 18, 1966, in Lebanon, he married Nancy Garrett, and she survives.
Mr. Steele spent most of his life as a truck driver working 27 years for Diamond Trucking in Francesville. A member and church board trustee of Colfax Wesleyan Church, he was active in Habitat for Humanity, and a member of Teamsters Local 135.
Surviving are his wife, Nancy Steele of Colfax; three sons, Dennis Steele (wife: Vicci) of Lafayette, Robert "Tony" Steele (wife: Terrian) of Rising Sun, William E. Steele (wife: Teresa) of Frankfort; four daughters, Mary "Sissy" Walker (husband: Mike) of Colfax, Roberta Cain of Lafayette, Terri Michal of Madison, Ala., and Mindy Perkins of Lebanon; two bothers, James E. Steele of Frankfort and Jack L. Steele (wife: Darlene) of Ladoga; and one sister, Mildred Harshbarger of Frankfort.
Kenneth C. Burns, 90
MULBERRY -- Kenneth C. Burns, 90, a resident of Mulberry Health and Retirement Community since 1996, died at 6:05 a.m. Monday, Feb. 20, 2006, at St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Lafayette.
Born March 23, 1915, to Charlie and Anna Ruch Burns in Clinton County, he was a 1933 graduate of Michigantown High School, where he was a member of the basketball team. He later graduated from Purdue University.
He was a veteran, serving in the Navy during World War II and the Army during the
Korean War.
His first marriage was to Ollie B. Wainscott on July 9, 1939, and she preceded him on July 24, 1996. He married Joan M. Lowman on April 3, 1997, and she survives.
Mr. Burns worked for the U.S. Postal Service for 25 years. He worked at the post office in Frankfort and as a rural carrier for Forest Township. He retired from the Soil Conservation Service after eight years.
He attended Fair Haven Church in Kokomo and Trinity Church in Mulberry. He was a member of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees and Elks Club.
Surviving with his wife are two sons, Jerry L. Burns (wife: Gloria) of Columbia City, Ind., and Thomas J. Burns (wife: Shannon M.) of Indianapolis; and a stepson, Brian C. Peck (wife: Phyllis) of rural Frankfort.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Thursday at Goodwin Funeral Home with service there 10:30 a.m. Friday, the Rev. John Zwirn officiating. Interment St. Luke Cemetery. Also surviving are 5 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by 3 brothers, Doyle, James and David. Memorial donations may be made to Fair Haven Church or Trinity Church of Mulberry with envelopes available at the funeral home.
Catherine Coffey-Jones, 87
Catherine Coffey-Jones, 87, of Lafayette, died Sunday, Feb. 19, 2006, at her residence.
She was born March 3, 1918, to Leroy and Pearl Hand LaGue in Benton County.
Her first marriage was to Leslie Coffey in 1934, and he preceded her in 1987. She married Kenneth M. Jones in 1988, and he survives.
Mrs. Coffey-Jones worked as a chef for Howard Johnson and Hour Time for 26 years. She was also the owner/operator of The Hub Restaurant in Boswell for nine years.
She enjoyed quilting, traveling, dancing, playing slot machines and bingo.
Surviving are five sons, Larry Coffey (wife: Heidi), Richard Coffey (wife: Sandy) and Tom Coffey, all of Florida, Leslie Coffey Jr. of Noblesville and Don Coffey (wife: Carol) of Clarks Hill; five daughters, Beverly Allen of West Lafayette, Shirley Retherford (husband: Max) of Kokomo, Connie Pechin (husband: Jim), Sharon Dunbar (husband: Dan) and Karen Harvey (husband: Ted), all of Lafayette; and three sisters, Thelma Geotz of Fowler, Angela Seal of Lafayette and Darlene Kenny (husband: Stan) of Veedersburg.
Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. today at Hippensteel Funeral Home with service there 10 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 22, 2006, Father Jeff Martin officiating. Interment Tippecanoe Memory Gardens. Surviving are 27 grandchildren and 39 great- grandchildren. Preceded in death by a son, Alvin Coffey; 2 brothers, Floyd LaGue and Chet LaGue; and a sister, Irene Pettijohn. Memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society.
Stephanie R. Cox, 33
Stephanie R. Cox, 33, of Lafayette, died Sunday, Feb. 19, 2006, at her residence. She had battled adenocarcinoma, a rare form of cancer, for more than a year.
Born March 23, 1972, to Donald W. and Laura A. Horn Cox in Lafayette, she was a 1990 graduate of Harrison High School, where she lettered in cross country, basketball and track for four years. She later attended a year at Purdue University and a year at St. Joseph College in Rensselaer.
Ms. Cox worked at Lafayette Bank and Trust for 11 years, where she was a teller and in charge of the main vault.
She attended St. Lawrence Catholic Church and served on the Relay For Life and March of Dimes through Lafayette Bank and Trust. She was also active in 4-H in Tippecanoe County with horses and ponies.
Ms. Cox enjoyed playing softball and bowling, and was an avid NASCAR fan.
Surviving with her parents are her daughter, Chelsea; and a sister, Tisa Fultz (husband: Randy) of Lafayette.
Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday at Hippensteel Funeral Home. Funeral Mass 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Lawrence Catholic Church, Father Daniel Gartland officiating. Interment Tippecanoe Memory Gardens. She enjoyed spending time with her daughter and family. Also surviving are a niece, Seaira Fultz; a nephew, Dakota Fultz; 23 aunts and uncles and 85 cousins. Preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Raymond C. and Clara B. Cox; and maternal grandparents, Wilty and Ruby Horn.
