Michael Todd “Bucky” Summerlot
LAPORTE -- Michael Todd “Bucky” Summerlot, 49, of LaPorte, and formerly of the PlymouthArgos
area, passed away peacefully at 5:30 p.m., Saturday July 24, 2010 at LaPorte Hospital.
Mr. Summerlot was born May 11, 1961 in Plymouth, to Lloyd W. and Evelyn S. (Gardner)
Summerlot.
Bucky served in the U.S. Air Force for 20 years, retiring in 2000 as a Staff Sergeant. Over the
course of his military career, he received the Air Force Achievement Medal, Air Force
Commendation Medal with 1 device, Air Force Longevity Service Award with 3 devices, Air Force
Training Ribbon, Air Force Overseas Short Tour Ribbon, National Defense Service Medal, NCO
Professional Military Education Ribbon, Air Force Outstanding Unit Award with 2 devices and the
Air Force Good Conduct Medal with 4 devices.
After his retirement from the Air Force, he worked for the Home Depot for three years and was a
lifetime member of the VFW and the American Legion. He enjoyed NASCAR, animals, fishing
and reading old western novels.
Survivors include three sisters: Diane (Bill) Andrews of Knox, Myra Summerlot of Indianapolis
and Rhonda Wagner of Osceola; a brother, Joey (Gloria) Summerlot of Rochester; and several
nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Rosemary Sliter.
There will be no visitation and cremation will take place.
Committal Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 6, at Oakhill cemetery Chapel in
Plymouth, with full military honors for family and friends.
Lakeview Funeral Home & Crematory, 247 W. Johnson Road, LaPorte, is caring for the
arrangements.

Michael Gryalba
ROCHESTER -- Michael Gryalba, 79, of 630 E. 17th St., Rochester, passed away at 5:47 a.m.,
Sunday, July 25, 2010 at Woodlawn Hospital.
Michael is survived by a brother, Peter Gryalba of New York City, N.Y.; and his mentors, Pequiti
Montelongo and Edward Rodriguez of Rochester. One niece and six nephews also survive.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 3, 2010 with Father Bert Woolson officiating
at Citizens cemetery, Rochester.

Lynette L. Swanson Kross
PLYMOUTH -- Lynette L. Swanson Kross, 67, of 5220 Plymouth-La Porte Trail, Plymouth, IN,
46563, passed away Sunday, July 25, 2010, at 6:22 a.m. at her home.
Lynette was born June 28, 1943, in Plymouth, to Roy and Emily (Waclaw) Swanson. She grew
up on a chicken farm that later was developed into Swan Lake Golf Course, by her family.
She graduated from Tyner High School, in The Class of 1961. She attended a Seamstress and
Design School in Chicago, Ill. She designed and sewed many beautiful garments for her sister,
nieces, nephews, and others.
She also attended Bob Jones University. She graduated from Bethel College with a degree in
elementary education. She taught fourth grade at Tyner School, for several years.
She then joined her family working at the golf course. Lynette became the Master Gardner of the
Golf Course. Her love for flowers was shown by the beautiful plantings all around the grounds.
Lynette married
Anthony Kross Oct. 25, 1984. He passed away Feb.15, 2008. Lynette loved to
travel and see the world. She enjoyed visiting covered bridges, lighthouses, and canals, and
belonged to several travel groups, that liked to do the same. Another passion was taking pictures
of all the places she had traveled, England, Norway, Sweden, Poland, Germany, New Zealand,
China, France, and Mexico.
Lynette is survived by her sister, Felicia (Mark) Batman of Plymouth; her nieces and nephews:
Dave Swanson of Indianapolis, Melinda Krass of Nappanee, Luke Batman of Chicago, Ill., Emily
Batman of Washington D.C., and Matthew Batman of Chicago, Ill.; five great-nephews; her sisterin-law,
Linda Swanson of Tennessee; and her stepmother, Dorothy Swanson of Argos.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Emily Swanson; her brother, Roger
Swanson; and her husband, Anthony Kross.
Memorial contributions may be given to the choice of the donor.

KNOX -- Calvin E. Kruder Sr., 80, of Knox, died Sunday, July 25, 2010.
He is survived by his wife Sommie; children: Calvin Kruder Jr. of Bridgeview, Ill., Beverly Novotny
of Oak Lawn, Ill., Charles Kruder of Bedford; Harold Kruder of Culver, David Streets of Germany,
and Steven Streets of Grovertown; a brother, Charles Kruder Jr. of California; 17 grandchildren;
and 19 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will take place from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, July 29 with a rosary service at 4 p.m. at
M.C. Smith Funeral Home, Knox.
Funeral services will take place at 11 a.m. Friday, July 30 at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic
Church. Burial will follow at Burr Oak cemetery.
Gladys Earl
DALEVILLE -- Gladys Earl, 91, of Daleville, died Monday, July 26, 2010 at her residence.
She is survived by her children: Lee (Monica) Earl of Eaton, and Deloris Jean Yoder of
Tennessee; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great -grandchildren; several
nieces and nephews; and sisters, Loretta Robinson of Genoia, W.V. and Roberta Watts of
Wayne, West Virginia.
Visitation will take place from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 28 and from noon until the time of
services Thursday, July 29 at Eastview Church of the Nazarene, Anderson.
Visitation will also take place from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday, July 31 at Van Gilder Funeral Home,
300 W. Madison St., in Plymouth.
Funeral services will take place at 4 p.m. Thursday at the church in Anderson and at 2 p.m.
Saturday at the funeral home in Plymouth.

FORT MYERS, Fla. -- Robert M. Mow, 85, of Fort Myers, Fla., formerly of Rochester, died July
26, 2010 at Hope Hospice in Fort Myers after battling cancer for several years.
He is survived by sons, Wayne (Jeri) Mow of Angola, and Kirk Mow of Indianapolis.
A graveside service will take place at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 23 at the Richland Center cemetery.

KOONTZ LAKE -- Helen I. Reed, Koontz Lake, died Monday, July 26, 2010 at her residence.
She is survived by her husband, Robert; a daughter, Kathi Reed-Clark of South Bend; a
granddaughter; and a grandson.
Visitation will take place from 4 to 8 p.m. (Central Time) Friday, July 30 and Saturday, July 31
from 9 to 9:30 a.m. at Rannells Funeral Home, Koontz Lake Chapel.

KEWANNA -- Donald D. Overmyer, 72, of Kewanna, died at 12:40 p.m. Tuesday, July 27, 2010
at Rivercrest Specialty Hospital, Mishawaka.
He is survived by his wife Connie; a daughter, Kandy (Michael) Morris of Peru, Ind.; sons, Randy
Overmyer and Todd (Stephanie) Good of Harvest, Ala.; four grandchildren; two great grandchildren;
and brothers: Devon Overmyer of Kewanna, Rev. Kenneth (Anna) Overmyer of Shipshewana, and
Lawrence (Jayne) Overmyer of Kewanna.
Visitation will take place from 3 to 5 p.m. Friday, July 30 at Good Family Funeral Home, 1200 W.
18th St., Rochester.
Funeral services will take place at 5 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Private family burial will
follow at Bruce Lake cemetery.

Surprise, Ariz. - Charles E. Reid, 98, formerly of South Bend, died July 29, 2010 and Surprise,
Ariz.
He is survived by two daughters, Teddi (George) Murray and Sue (Ted) Sarphie, both of
Phoenix; eight grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, August 10, 2010 at the Rochester I.O.O.F.
cemetery.

Plymouth, Juana (Rafael) Baca of Plymouth, Maria (Ramon) Vargas of West Columbia, Texas,
Patricia (Shane) Mendez of Plymouth, Maria Del Refujio (Jose) Rosas of Plymouth, and Cecilia
(Kevin) Drummond of Plymouth; and sons: Jose Elias (Dolores) Mendez of El Paso, Texas,

Donald Pelikant; and two grandchildren.

Cindy Sells of Rochester; a son, Steve (Cherese) Sells of Fort Wayne; six grandchildren; and
two great-grandchildren.

Plymouth - Richard Warner, 78, of Plymouth, died at 7:25 p.m. Wednesday, August 4, 2010, at
his home. He is survived by his daughter, Sandra (Ray) Toney of Plymouth; his son, Rick
Warner of Texas; and one grandchild.
Private graveside services, and burial were held at Burr Oak cemetery, Culver.

BREMEN -- Warren George Koontz, 87, of Bremen died Aug. 5, 2010 at 10:10 a.m. at Bremen
Health Care.
He is survived by his wife, Kathryn; three daughters, Alice (Michael) Henning, Bremen; Susan
(Dan) Barr, Bremen; Melissa (Tim) Maas, Edwardsville, Ill., one son, Robert (Nancy) Koontz,
Bremen; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and one brother, Calvin (Evelyn) Koontz,
Plymouth.
Funeral services will be Saturday, Aug. 7 at 11 a.m. at Mishler Funeral Home, Bremen. Burial
will follow in Bremen cemetery, with military honors. Friends may call two hours prior to the
service.
