Vivian M. Mickow
HAMLET -- Vivian M. Mickow, 94, passed away Sunday, June 13, 2010 in Miller’s Merry Manor,
Plymouth, Ind.
Mrs. Mickow was born July 7, 1915 in LaPorte County, Ind. to James and Elizabeth (Allison)
Benson and lived in the area all of her life.
Dec. 2, 1933 in Crown Point, Ind. she was married
to Burton Mickow, who preceded her in death
in 1993. She was also preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Anita Mickow; a son-in-law, Bob
Hinz; two brothers; and one sister.
Survivors include one son, James Mickow of Hamlet; two daughters, Lois (Jim) Daube of
Walkerton and Margie Mickow of Plymouth; 11 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and four
great-great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Mickow was a homemaker. She graduated from Center Township School, Knox, in 1933
and was valedictorian of her class. She was a member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church of
Hamlet, the St. Matthew Ladies Aid, and a charter member of the Better Homes Club of Hamlet.
Funeral services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. (Central Time) at St. Matthew Lutheran Church,
Hamlet with Pastor Kyle Wright officiating.
Burial will be at the Fletcher cemetery, Hamlet.
Friends may call Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. at Rannells Funeral Home, Hamlet Chapel and
Thursday at the church after 10 a.m. until the time of services.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the church or the Mickow Memorial

Lewis N. "Bob" Shambarger
PLYMOUTH -- Lewis N. “Bob” Shambarger, 86, of Plymouth, passed away at 3:55 a.m.
Sunday, June 13, 2010 in South Bend Memorial Hospital of natural causes.
He was also a former resident of Rochester and Argos. He was born Dec. 16, 1923 in Denver,
Ind., the son of Lewis G. and Bernice E. (Cover) Shambarger. He grew up in Miami County and
attended Macey High School.
During WWII, he served in the U.S. Navy until January of 1945 in the European and Japanese
Theaters.
Nov. 3, 1979, in Plymouth, he married
Janis E. (Duff) Dunlap.
Bob was a superintendent with Ritz-Craft Homes in Argos for 24 years and then became the
plant manager for Borkholder’s in Nappanee for the next 23 years before retiring in 2001. Bob
like to travel, enjoyed family times together, watching football, working in his yard and
tinkering in his garage.
He was a member of the Eagles Lodge, Disabled American Veterans, a life member of the
Argos American Legion Post where he had served as a Past Commander and was a former
member of the Moose Lodge.
Surviving Bob is his wife Janis; a daughter, Judy K. Sweany and her special friend Tom Golden
of Rochester; a daughter-in-law, Beth Shambarger of Rochester; two stepdaughters, Tamara E.
Martin of Warsaw and Trisha L. (Brian) Sporner of Bourbon; as well as seven grandchildren; and
seven great-grandchildren.
Also surviving is a brother Herbert (Doris) Shambarger of North Manchester, Ind. and a sister,
Marjorie Dewitt of Logansport, Ind.
He was preceded in death by his son Steven L. Shambarger; brothers, Mark and Charles
Shambarger; and sisters: Sue Long, Nancy Birnell, Marilyn Nicodemus and Bernita Ann Miller.
Graveside services conducted by Rev. Jason See, Chaplain of Woodlawn Hospital, Rochester
will be held Saturday, June 19 at 10 a.m. in the New Oakhill cemetery, Plymouth.
Military honors will be provided by members of the Argos American Legion Post 68. Burial will
follow.
Memorial gifts may be made to charity of the donor’s choice.

Glen J. Zellers
NORTH LIBERTY -- Glen J. Zellers, 83, died Sunday, June 13, 2010 in Miller’s Merry Manor,
New Carlisle.
He is survived by his wife, Louise; daughter, Linda (Pat) Chenoweth of South Bend; three sons:
Gary Zellers of South Bend, Mark (Carol) Zellers of Walkerton and Kent (Tracy) Zellers of
Granger; daughter-in-law, Donna (Don) Peverelle of Plymouth; eight grandchildren; two great grandchildren;
brothers, Donald (Sis) Zellers of North Liberty and Robert (Vera) Zellers of North
Liberty; sister-in-laws, Janet (Damon) Nicholas of North Liberty and Rose Zellers of Mishawaka;
and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will take place from 5 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, June 16 at Rannells Funeral Home,
Koontz Lake Chapel and Thursday at the church after 10 a.m.
Funeral services will take place at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 17 at Beaver Creek Wesleyan Church
of North Liberty.
Burial will follow at Westlawn cemetery, North Liberty, where military graveside services will be
conducted.
Memorial contributions may be given to the church.
Melvin R., Sr. Price
GROVERTOWN -- Melvin R. Price Sr., 72, died Monday, June 14, 2010 at his residence.
He is survived by his wife Tonia; daughters: Wilma Couch, Sandra Stewart, Penny Price, Tabitha
Price and Petals Price, all of Elkhart; sons: Melvin Jr. of Clarton, Mo., Wayne of Weedowa, Ala.
and Ed of Cleveland, Texas; 16 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; six sisters; and three
brothers.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
Cremation has taken place.
Rannells Funeral Home, Hamlet Chapel assisted the family with arrangements.
Claude Campbell
ARGOS -- Claude Campbell, 67, of 401 W. Marshall, Argos, died at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, June
15, 2010 at Elkhart Hospice House, Elkhart, following a two-year illness.
He was born Jan. 3, 1943 in Jackson, Ky. to Elihue and Eva Marie (Clemons) Campbell. He lived
in the Argos community for the last 28 years coming from Bourbon.
He married
Shadelene (Napier) Campbell Oct. 14, 1966 in Jackson, Ky. He had worked for
several trailer factories: Gulf Steam, Fairmont, and Mallard, retiring in 1999.
He was a member of the Community Baptist Church of Ober, in Ober.
He is survived by his wife, Shadelene; daughters, Judy Morgan and husband Allen of Westville,
Hazel Schultz and husband Karl of Claypool, Claudia Bottomley and husband Paul of Culver,
Donna Franklin of Tennessee, Christie Fowler and husband Mike of Elkhart, Patricia Pavlak and
husband Brian of Walkerton, Michelle Kroft and husband Bub of Knox; a son, Brian Campbell
and wife Mandy of Plymouth; 22 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and
nephews; siblings: Alex Campbell of Springfield, Ohio, Chamler Campbell and wife Lori of Akron,
Rader Campbell of Rochester, Earl Campbell and wife Darlene of Jackson, Ky., Nonie Campbell
of Jackson, Ky., and Madge Flora and husband Bob of Argos.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Hazel Lovins; and son, Lyhue Campbell.
Friends may visit with the family from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday June 17, at the Earl-Grossman
Funeral Home, 208 N. Michigan St., Argos.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday June 18, at the funeral home with the Rev. Rick Prater
officiating.
Burial will take place at Pleasant Hill cemetery, Bourbon.

Treva Mae Chapin
ROCHESTER -- Treva Mae Chapin, 88, of Rochester, formerly of Fulton, died at 1:28 a.m.
Tuesday, June 15, 2010 at Life Care Center of Rochester.
Visitation will take place from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, June 6 and one hour prior to services
Thursday at the Good Family Funeral Home, 1200 W. 18th St., Rochester.
Funeral services will take place at 1 p.m. Thursday, June 17 at the funeral home.
Burial will follow at Rochester IOOF cemetery.

MICHIGAN CITY -- Mary Lewis Craig, 58, of Michigan City, formerly of Plymouth, died at 10:15
a.m., Tuesday, June 15, 2010 at St. Anthony Memorial Hospital, Michigan City.
Visitation will take place from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday, June 26, at Lakeview Funeral Home and
Crematory, 247 W. Johnson Road, La Porte.
A memorial service will take place at 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

Sterling Daniels
CULVER -- Sterling Daniels, 80, of Culver, died Tuesday, June 15, 2010 in Culver.
He is survived by his wife Lillian; daughters: Judy (Melvin) Jackson of Jackson, Miss., MaLinda
Daniels of Gary, Areatha Daniels of Portage, and Dache (Msathea) Daniels-Kinyanjui of Culver;
son Raheem (Lavonne) Rashad of Atlanta, Ga.; sister, Mary Ruth Daniels of Gary; and seven
grandchildren.
Visitation will take place from 1 to 6 p.m. Sunday, June 20 at Odom Funeral Home, Culver.
Funeral services will take place at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 22 at Clark Road Missionary Baptist
Church, Gary.
Burial will follow at Evergreen cemetery, Hobart.
Ethel E. Jaynes
DONALDSON -- Ethel E. Jaynes, age 97, of 9601 Union Road, Donaldson, passed away at
8:15 p.m., Tuesday, June 15, 2010, at the Catherine Kasper Life Care Center in Donaldson.
Ethel was born Dec. 24, 1912, in Lancaster, Ky., to Thomas and Jessie (Carpenter) Howard.
Nov. 20, 1946, Ethel married
Lewis “Jack” D. Jaynes in VeVay. Together they raised their two
children. Ethel retired from L.S. Ayer’s Department Store after 14 years of service in the
children’s shoe department.
Ethel is survived by her son, David and Mary Anne Jaynes of Indianapolis; her brother, Edward
and Dorothy Howard of Greensburg; her grandchildren: Chas Glaub (Monica) of Newport Beach,
Calif., Matthew and Michelle Glaub and their daughter Maggie of Plymouth, Evan Glaub of
Plymouth, Maria Jaynes of Indianapolis, and Daniel Jaynes of Gardiner, Mont.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lewis in November of 1993, and her daughter,
Nancy E. Jaynes in March of 2008.

DONALDSON -- Audrey E. Kitch, 105, of 9601 Union Road, Donaldson, passed away Tuesday,
June 15, 2010, at 7:20 p.m., at the Catherine Kasper Life Care Center, in Donaldson.
Audrey was born March 26, 1905, in Marshall County, to Moses and Colista Fish. Audrey
married
William VanderVeen.
May 3, 1950 William passed away after 10 years of marriage. Don F. Kitch and Audrey were
married
Nov. 26, 1954. Don passed away Dec. 26, 1963.
Audrey did house cleaning for a living. She had a special love for cats. She was a lady who lived
her faith. She helped many people with family members in nursing homes, and continued that
outreach even after their loved ones had passed away. Audrey was a member of the Evangelical
Covenant Church, in Donaldson.
Audrey is survived by her son, John and Jaci Kitch of Nashville, Tenn.; her grandchildren:
Thomas Kitch of Sarasota, Fla., Heather Sullivan and Daniel Kitch both of Nashville, Tenn.; her
great-grandchildren, Teia and Ella Kitch both of Sarasota, Fla. and Cassidy Sullivan of
Nashville, Tenn.; and her two special friends, Wanda Gibson and Jeanne Boomershine, both of
Plymouth.
