ROCHESTER -- Beatrice Pauline Lewis, 93, of Rochester, died at 5 a.m. Wednesday, May 26,
2010 at Wynnfield Crossing.
She is survived by a daughter, Roxann (Marvin) Murphy of Rochester; sons, Edward (Betty)
Lewis of Twelve Mile, Ind. and Jerry (Judy) Lewis of Rochester; five grandchildren; three great
grandchildren; a sister, Lorene Morgan of Rochester; and a brother, Gerald Briney of Rochester.
Visitation will take place from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, May 28 and one hour prior to services Saturday
at Good Family Funeral Home, 1200 W. 18th St., Rochester.
Funeral services will take place at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 29 at the funeral home.
Burial will follow at Rochester IOOF cemetery, Rochester.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Woodlawn Center, Logansport, or to the Hope
Hospice of Fulton County.

Juanita Irene Scott
PLYMOUTH -- Juanita Irene Scott, 83, of Plymouth, formerly of Bourbon, died at 5:15 a.m.
Wednesday, May 26, 2010 at Pilgrim Manor Nursing Home.
She is survived by a granddaughter; a sister-in-law, Judy Blackburn of Pierceton; and her uncle
Delbert and Jane Johnston of South Bend.
Visitation will take place from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday, May 28 at the Bourbon United
Pentecostal Church.
Funeral services will take place at 2 p.m. Friday, at the church.
Burial will follow at Pleasant Hill cemetery, Bourbon.
Deaton-Clemens Funeral Home, Bourbon, is handling local arrangements.

Opal Laree Gearhart
ROCHESTER -- Opal Laree Gearhart, 98, Rochester, died at 10:08 p.m. Thursday, May 27,
2010 at her residence.
She is survived by sisters: Dorothy (Ogden) Alger of North Manchester, Ruth (Charles) Miller of
North Manchester, Sharon Meenen Macy, and Joan (Tom) Harris of Fulton; brothers: Harold
Gearhart of Indianapolis, Bill (Sue) Gearhart of Athens, Dick (Helen) Gearhart “Mickie” of
Winamac, Larry (Donna) Gearhart of Fulton, and Roger (Janet) Gearhart of Akron.
Funeral services took place at noon Sunday, May 30 at Good Family Funeral Home, 1200 W.
18th St., Rochester.
Burial followed at the Akron cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Akron United Methodist Church.

George Frederic Weeks
OCALA, Fla. -- George Fredric Weeks, 67, of Ocala, Fla., died Thursday, May 27, 2010 at West
Marion Hospital.
He is survived by his wife Judith; a daughter, Amber (Kevin) Reinhold of Kewanna; sons,
George (Lisa) Weeks of Osceola, and Kristin (Kevin) Weeks of Valley Cottage, N.Y.; six
grandchildren; a sister, Wanda (Milburn) Cooper of Sligo, Penn.; sister-in-law and brother–inlaw,
Peggy and Michael Whirledge, of Rochester; and father-in-law Wayne (Evelyn) Roe of
Rochester; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation took place from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. Sunday, May 30 at the Good Family Funeral Home,
1200 W. 18 St., Rochester.
Funeral services took place at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Burial followed at the Rochester IOOF cemetery.
Memorials contributions may be made to the Heart for Uganda Missions.

Margaret Milliser
PLYMOUTH -- Lifetime Plymouth resident, Margaret “Margie” Milliser, 81, of 323 S. Walnut St.,
died, following an illness at 10:53 p.m. Friday May 28, 2010, in Miller’s Merry Manor, Plymouth.
Born in Plymouth June 22, 1928, Margie was the daughter of Joseph and Sarah Creasey
Warner. She attended Plymouth Schools.
In Plymouth, Margaret Warner and Clifford Milliser were married .
Margie worked for a short time at the bowling alley, before spending 32 years as a bartender at
the Mayflower Tavern in Plymouth. After her retirement she worked part-time at Brother’s Night
Club, Plymouth.
She loved spending time with her family and enjoyed her flowers.
Margie is survived by four children: two daughters and two sons, all from Plymouth. The
daughters are Betty (Bob) Risner and Donna Cole. Her sons are Kevin (Kim) Milliser and Mark
(Pam) Milliser.
Ten grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild also survive as well
as three sisters: Jeannie Orr, Mary Taylor and Helen Thompson, all of Plymouth.
Margie was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Clifford, Sr.; a daughter, Pam; and a
son, Clifford, Jr.; as well as five brothers and three sisters: Ennis, Eddie, Charlie, Joe, Paul,
Josephine, Mae and Pearl.
Visitation with the family will be from noon to 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 2, 2010, in the New
Oakhill cemetery Chapel, Plymouth.
Funeral services will follow visitation at 2 p.m. in the Chapel with the Rev. Kerry O’Brien
officiating.
Burial will be in New Oakhill cemetery.
Preferred memorial gifts in Margie’s memory may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.

Adele G. Nielsen
GROVERTOWN -- Adele G. Nielsen, 78, died Friday, May 28, 2010 in an automobile accident
in Valparaiso.
She is survived by sons: Greg (Iris) Nielsen of Schererville, Scott (Amy) Nielsen of Lansing, Ill.,
and Kevin Nielsen of Valparaiso; two grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a brother, Ernie
(Mary) DiJulio of Oak Lawn, Ill.; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation took place from 4 to 9 p.m. Monday, and will take place from 12 to 12:30 p.m.
Tuesday, June 1 at Rannells Funeral Home, Koontz Lake Chapel. Funeral services will take place
at 1 p.m. Tuesday at St. Dominic’s Catholic Church of Koontz
Lake. Burial will follow at the Grovertown cemetery.

Beverly J. Short
HAMLET -- Beverly J. Short, 82, passed away Friday, May 28, 2010 in her home.
Bev was born July 22, 1927 in LaPorte, Ind. to James E. and Elnora R. (Reed) Short and lived in
the Hamlet area all of her life.
She is survived by friend, Karen Neville of Hamlet; cousins, Robert, Diane, Carol Lee and Joan;
her dog, Babe; and her extended Neville Family.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Bev was a former employee of Koppenhofer Lumber of Grovertown and Farm Fertilizer of
Hamlet and was a member of the Hamlet United Methodist Church.
She was a 1945 graduate of Hamlet High School, a 1947 graduate of Stephens College,
Columbia, Mo. and a 1949 graduate of Indiana University.
She was an avid sport fan, especially a die hard Cubs fan, I.U. basketball, Chicago Bears and
Lady Cats basketball fan. She also played women’s amateur softball for The Eaglettes of Plymouth.
Funeral services will be Tuesday at 10 a.m. (Central Time) at Rannells Funeral Home, Hamlet
Chapel with Rev. Merry Chris Douglas officiating.
Burial will be at the Fletcher cemetery, Hamlet.
Friends may call Monday from 4 to 8 p.m. CT and Tuesday after 9 a.m. until the time of services
at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be given to The American Heart Association.

Peggy F. (Shei) Mattox
CULVER -- Peggy F. (Shei) Mattox, Union Road, Culver, died at 8:42 p.m. Saturday, May 29,
2010 of a cancer-related illness after being diagnosed earlier this year.
Peggy faced her illness with a courageous heart and had the ability to make others feel at peace
with it all as she passed with her family and friends by her side. She was 58 years old.
Peggy loved nature and was able to spend her remaining time in a beautiful wooded surrounding
at the home of a dear friend Gregg Anders. Friday evening was spent outdoors cradled in the
arms of her son and daughter taking in the sights and sounds of mother nature.
Born in LaPorte, Ind. Aug. 22, 1951, she was the daughter of Kenneth J. and Agnes R. Bigler
Shei. She graduated from Culver High School with the class of 1969.
She then attended Ancilla College.
Feb. 18, 1981, in Corpus Christi, Texas, Peggy and James Anthony “Tony” Mattox were married .
She and her husband lived in Texas for 23 years before she returned to Indiana.
Tony died Oct. 23, 2003.
Self-employed with her own cleaning service, she worked for the past three years with
Jamieson’s Town & Country Package Store in Culver.
Peggy was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary #6919 of Culver. She showed and designed
arts and crafts, and enjoyed traveling throughout the United States.
Peggy loved all kinds of music with the exception of “rap.”
She is survived by a son, Joshua J. Mattox and his spouse Brandy of Alice, Texas and her
daughter, Anastasia Lee Mattox, of Culver.
Grandchildren include Taylor, Mason, Brielle and Tyler.
Three sisters also survive. They are Susan D. Danielson and Sara M. (Terry) Jolly, both of
Plymouth, and Katherine M. (Dale) Graves of Lapel, Ind.
Several nieces and nephews survive as well.
Peggy was preceded in death by her parents; her spouse; a son, Kaleb Kenneth Mattox in 2004;
and a sister, Lou Ann Shei.
Family will gather with friends Saturday, June 5 at the VFW Post #6919, 108 W. Washington St.,
Culver, for a celebration of Peggy’s life beginning at noon, followed by a meal provided by the
Auxiliary Ladies.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial gifts be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 922
E. Colfax Avenue, South Bend, IN, 46617 or the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Foundation, P.O.
Box 650309, Dallas, TX, 75265-0309.
A special thank you goes out to Karen and Greg Easterday, Greg Anderson, Teena and Steve
Snyder, the Center for Hospice and Palliative Care and their caring volunteers. The Johnson-Danielson
Funeral Home, Plymouth is assisting the family with arrangements.

Paula Joyce Buchtel
MESA, Ariz. -- Paula Joyce Buchtel, 86, of Mesa, Ariz. passed away May 30, in Mesa, Ariz. Mrs.
Buchtel, a homemaker was born in Hartford, Mich.
She and her husband were the former owners of Buchtel and Sons Hardware Store, a business
they ran together for 30 years.
She is survived by her husband Jay Buchtel of almost 63 years; daughter Mary Kaye Buchtel;
sons Jay Robert Buchtel and Ronald William Buchtel; grandchildren: Kathy (Bollman) Dursham,
Brett Bollman, Shelly (Buchtel) Delee, Scott Buchtel, Jason Bushtel, and Justin Buchtel; and
seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her grandson Randy Bollman.
There will be a celebration of her life Friday, June 4, 2010 at Leisure World Main Clubhouse,
Power Road North of Southern Ave., Mesa, Ariz.
Contributions may be made to Hospice of the Valley (hov.org ).

Arlis Elvin Eads
PLYMOUTH -- U. S. Army veteran Arlis Elvin Eads passed away Memorial Day following an
extended illness.
Arlis, age 71, died at 4:15 p.m. Monday, May 31, 2010 in the company and care of his family and
supportive care of the Center for Hospice and Palliative Care volunteers.
Arlis was born in Grovertown April 11, 1939, the son of Elvin Wesley Eads and Sylvia Irene
(Reinholt) Eads–Skoog and was a lifelong Plymouth area resident -- but for the three years
spent in Arizona after retiring from a 38-year career with NIPSCO as a substation electrician.
While working, he was a member of the United Steelworks Union -- SOAR.
A 1957 graduate of Plymouth’s Lincoln High School, Arlis continued with electrical training and
certification in many areas of the utilities service.
From 1957 to 1959 he served in the United States Army and was a member of the Plymouth
American Legion Post #27.
Nov. 4, 1960, in Plymouth, he took as his bride, the former Dorothy Elaine Gardner, this marking
their 50th year of commitment to each other.
Possessing a deep respect for nature, Arlis was a true outdoorsman at work and play. His true
passions included traveling in the mountainous West and Southwest to engage in activities
related to hunting with his friends and son, appreciating the beauty of nature, and collecting
Native American relics and artifacts with Dorothy. In addition to traveling with Dorothy in their fifth
wheel, Arlis enjoyed landscaping and creating beautiful gardens and taking time for his
grandchildren’s activities. Being resourceful and mechanically innovative, he was able to
improvise repair of anything deemed “broken.” Those who knew Arlis well, know of his profound
love and respect for nature and compassion for those without a voice, especially animals and
those who are less fortunate.
He is survived by his devoted spouse Dorothy, two daughters, a son and their families. They are:
Kimberly D. and Craig Jones and children, Madison and Taylor all of London, Ontario Canada; a
daughter, Melissa S. and Steven DeFord of Plymouth and children Brandii and Levi Wilson, with
great-granddaughter, Libby of South Bend, and Ryan DeFord of Norwalk, Conn. His son Marc E.
Eads, also resides in Plymouth.
Also surviving is a brother, Eugene and Linda Eads of Henderson, Nev. and sister, Vickie and
Kim Finkenbiner of North Webster, Ind. along with several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters: Cindy Zimmerman, Wilma Birk and
Connie Gardner.
The family will receive friends Thursday, June 3 from 4 to 8 p.m. in the Johnson-Danielson
Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan St., Plymouth where services will be held Friday June 4 at 11 a.m.
The Rev. Tom Padberg, a chaplain with the Center for Hospice and Palliative Care will officiate.
Burial will follow in the New Oakhill cemetery, Plymouth, with military honors provided by
members of the American Legion, VFW and DAV.
Memorial gifts may be made to the Center for Hospice and Palliative Care, 112 S. Center St.,
Plymouth, IN, 46563.
