Patricia L. Hanson
PLYMOUTH — Patricia L. Hanson, 62, of 16334 Menominee Trail, Plymouth, passed away at
8:05 p.m. Saturday, March 27, 2010, at her home.
Patricia was born May 5, 1947, in Chicago, Ill., to Robert and Rosemary (Immekus) Cartwright.
She married
Walter H. Hanson, in Chicago, Nov. 21, 1987.
She worked as a secretary at the Buhler Company, in Lake Bluff, Ill. Walter and Patricia moved
to the Plymouth area in 1999 from Des Plains, Ill.
Patricia is survived by her husband, Walter H. Hanson of Plymouth, and her sister, Rosemary L
Cartwright Hanson (John) of McHenry, Ill.

BREMEN — Brenda K. Kline, 58, of Bremen, died at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, March 27, 2010 at
Goshen General Hospital.
She is survived by her father, Charles R. Kline Sr. of Bremen; a sister, Barbara (Dan) Grimmer
of South Bend; a brother, John (Yvonne) Kline of South Bend; several nieces and nephews; and
a sister-in-law, Kathy Kline of Plymouth.
Visitation will take place from 2 to 6 p.m. Tuesday, March 30 at Mishler Funeral Home, 2030
S.R. 331, Bremen.
Cremation will follow and burial will take place at a later date.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Dorothy E. Carper
PLYMOUTH — Dorothy E. Carper, 90, of Plymouth, died at 10:45 a.m. Monday, March 29,
2010 at Miller’s Merry Manor in Plymouth.
She is survived by her daughter, Cynthia Ellen Carper, and several cousins.
There will be no visitation.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, April 9 at the First Presbyterian Church,
Plymouth.
Burial will be in New Oak Hill cemetery, Plymouth.

Bonnie Rue Harper
ROCHESTER — Bonnie Rue Harper, 83, of Rochester, died at 8:03 p.m. Monday, March 29,
2010 at Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne.
She is survived by daughters, Donna J. Good of Rochester and Cindy L. Harper of Denver,
Colo.; a sister, Goldie Humes of Oak Grove; 10 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will take place from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, April 1 and one hour before services Friday
at Good Family Funeral Home, 1200 W. 18th St., Rochester.
Funeral services will take place at 10 a.m. Friday, April 2 at the funeral home.
Burial will follow at Rochester IOOF cemetery.

Thomas L. Lehman
NAPPANEE — Thomas "Tom" L. Lehman, 66, of Nappanee, died at 10:20 p.m. Monday, March
29, 2010 at Elkhart General Hospital, Elkhart of unexpected, natural causes.
He is survived by his wife Rebecca; a son, Roger (Dawn) Lehman of Nappanee; a daughter,
Kristi (Cary) Lehman-Fields of Zionsville; and nine grandchildren.
Visitation will take place from 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday, April 1 and one hour prior to services Friday
at the Thompson-Lengacher & Yoder Funeral Home, 950 N. Main St., Nappanee.
Funeral services will take place at 10 a.m. Friday, April 2 at Nappanee United Methodist Church.
Burial will follow at South Union cemetery.

Mary Ellen Starr
YUMA, Ariz. — Mary Ellen Starr, 84, of Yuma, Ariz., formerly of Bremen, passed away Monday,
March 29, 2010 in Yuma, Ariz.
She was born Feb. 11, 1926 in Knox to Walker and Louise (Lake) Peer. On Aug. 25, 1946 she
married
Ernest R. Starr; he survives.
Mary graduated from Culver High School in 1943 and was a homemaker. She was a member of
Gila Mountain United Methodist Church in Yuma, Ariz. and attended First United Church of
Christ in Bremen.
Survivors include husband, Ernest Starr of Yuma, Ariz; three sons: Ken (Nancy) Starr of Yuma,
Ariz., Bruce Starr of Philadelphia, Penn. and Edwin (Kimberly) Starr of Conway, Ark.; four
grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and son, Richard Starr.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, April 6 at the Mishler Funeral Home in Bremen.
Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 7, at the funeral home and will be
officiated by Pastor Thomas Dean.
Burial will follow at the Bremen cemetery.

Gerald Dean Wesley Irwin
PLYMOUTH — Gerald Dean Wesley Irwin of Pennsylvania Avenue, Plymouth died at 1:35 a.m.
Tuesday, March 30, 2010 in St. Joseph Regional Medical Center's Plymouth campus.
Gerald was born Oct. 4, 1925 in Plymouth, the son of Francis A. and Mable Garner Irwin. He
attended Green Township School and graduated from Argos High School with the class of 1943.
Sept. 23, 1945 Gerald took Lola Jean King as his wife in the Santa Anna United Methodist
Church. They were the first couple to be married
in the church. Lola preceded him in death Feb.
5, 2001.
Gerald worked as a self-employed carpenter and a contractor from 1955 until his retirement in
1995. Throughout his career he designed and built many beautiful homes throughout the
Marshall County area.
He was a lifelong member of the Santa Anna United Methodist Church in Argos. He and Lola
enjoyed serving as lay members to the United Methodist Conference. He was a church pianist
for many years; he enjoyed entertaining at nursing homes and had a great time playing while the
kids all sang along.
Gerald is survived by five sons; they are: Terry and Kathy Irwin, Straughn, Rev. James and Sue
Irwin, Plymouth, John Irwin, Inwood, Kevin and MaDonna Irwin, Tippecanoe and Kenny Irwin,
Plymouth; two daughters, Cindy and Richard Taber, Argos and Sandy Stiles, Plymouth; 20
grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; a sister Nyla and Marvin Snyder of Argos; good friends
Betty Heiden and Mary Jane Rabella; and several nieces and nephews survive as well.
He was preceded in death by his wife; parents; brothers, Melvin and Gene; and a great granddaughter,
Kendall.
Friends are invited to a time of sharing with Gerald’s family from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday April 2, in the
Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan St., Plymouth, IN, 46563.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday April 3 in the funeral home. Rev. Henry
Sprunger of the Santa Anna United Methodist Church will officiate.
Burial will follow in the Maxinkuckee I.O.O.F cemetery at the Poplar Grove cemetery, Argos.
Memorial contributions in Gerald’s name may be given to the Santa Anna United Methodist
Church.
Antonia Juarez
NEW PARIS — Antonia Juarez, 81, of New Paris, died at 6:15 p.m. Tuesday, March 30, 2010 at
her residence, following an extensive illness.
She is survived by her husband Juan; daughters: Gloria (Jim) Hileman of Zanesville, Diana
(Rodney) Mathewson of Elkhart, and Janie (Felipe) Hilburn of Lubbock, Texas; sons: Juan
(Joan) Juarez Jr. of Columbia City, Clem (Jackie) Juarez of Wakarusa, Silver Juarez of Wyatt,
Santiago Juarez of New Paris, and Robert (Sally) Juarez of New Paris; 17 grandchildren; 14
great-grandchildren; and brothers, Jesse (Joyce) Avaloz of Leesburg and Pete Avaloz of Milford.
Visitation will take place from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, April 3 at Thompson-Lengacher & Yoder
Funeral Home, 950 N. Main St., Nappanee.
Funeral services will take place at 11 a.m. Monday, April 5 at St. Dominic Catholic Church,
Bremen.
Burial will follow at Union Center cemetery.

Opal B. Weidner
ROCHESTER — Opal B. Weidner, 89, formerly of Rochester, died at 2:40 p.m. Tuesday, March
30 at Hickory Creek, Rochester.
She is survived by daughters, Martha (Terry) Dain of Rochester and Mary Perez of Phoenix,
Ariz.; 17 grandchildren; several great- and great-great-grandchildren; a daughter-in-law, Judy
Weidner of Warsaw; and a brother, Kenneth Armentrout of The Colony, Texas.
Visitation will take place from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, April 2 and one hour prior to services Saturday
at the Good Family Funeral Home, 1200 W. 18th St., Rochester.
Funeral services will take place at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 3 at the funeral home.
Burial will follow at Reichter cemetery.

Thomas Allen Wood
BALTIMORE, Md. — Thomas Allen Wood, 72, of Baltimore, Md., died Tuesday, March 30, 2010.
He is survived by three children and a brother, Maurice B. Wood of Sarasota, Fla.
Private services were held.
Peaceful Alternatives Funeral and Cremation Center P.A., Timonium, Md. was entrusted with
arrangements.
Jerry Berger
PLYMOUTH — Jerry Berger, 11260 S. Michigan St., Plymouth, died at 3:18 a.m. Wednesday,
March 31, 2010, in the Hospice House of St. Joseph County.
He was born in Plymouth, the son of Glen and Cleo Samuels Berger, Dec. 13, 1950. Jerry was
59 years old.
He graduated from Plymouth High School with the class of 1969 and from Purdue University in
1973.
Sept. 2, 1978, in Plymouth, Jerry and Janice Smith were married
.
Jerry was a Customer Service Representative for Damon Industries, an RV manufacturer, for 15
years. He enjoyed music, reading, was an avid fisherman and enjoyed the company of his dog,
Maxx.
He was a member of the Plymouth Wesleyan Church. He sang with the Maxinkuckee Players
and Singers and worked with the Christmas in April program.
Jerry is survived by his loving wife, Janice and by their five children: Lisa Ann Berger of Morris,
Ill.; Tracey Shorter of Winamac; Robert Hughes of Nappanee; Angela Woodcox of LaPorte; and
Brian Soales of Fort Wayne.
Seven grandsons and five granddaughters also survive. They are: grandsons, Derrick and
Robbie Chambers, Corey Hughes, Michael Shorter, Austin Woodcox and Conner and Wyatt
Soales; and granddaughters, Jamie Shorter, Erin and Samantha Glenn, and Emily and Abigail
Soales.
Jerry’s parents Glen and Cleo Berger of Plymouth, and two sisters, LuJeane (Dennis) Olejniczak
of Argos, and Glenda (Chris) Baumann of Colorado Springs, Colo. survive as well.
Friends will be welcomed to share memories with Jerry’s family at the Johnson-Danielson
Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan St., Plymouth, Friday, April 2, from 3 to 8 p.m. and Saturday
at the church, one hour prior to the services.
Funeral services for Jerry will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 3 at the Plymouth Wesleyan
Church, 11203 S. Michigan Road, Plymouth. The Rev. John Branch, a pastor of the church and
the Rev. Barry Faucett will officiate.
Burial will be in New Oakhill cemetery, Plymouth.
