ROCHESTER — Dorine Iva Kabell, 83, of Rochester, formerly of Newberry, Mich., died at 4:30
a.m. Tuesday, March 16, 2010 at Woodlawn Hospital, Rochester.
She is survived by a daughter, Iva (Robert) Masterson of Rochester; 15 grandchildren; 31 great grandchildren;
five great-great-grandchildren; sisters: Viola Troop of Newberry, Mich., Cora Mae
Manning of Oklahoma, Ella “Sweetie Pie” Sevarns of Kalamazoo, Mich.; brothers: James (Polly)
Sevarns of Newberry, Mich., Leroy Sevarns of Carson City, Mich., Luke (Doris) Sevarns of
Manistique, Mich., and Roger (Florence) Sevarns of McMillen, Mich.; and several nieces and
nephews.
Family services were held at the Good Family Funeral Home, 1200 W. 18th St., Rochester.

Martha A. Reese
BREMEN — Martha A. Reese, 76, of Bremen, died Tuesday, March 16, 2010 at St. Joseph
Regional Medical Center, Mishawaka.
She is survived by her husband Bill; daughters: Cynthia A. Schroll of Cromwell, Vicki D. Hogan of
Nappanee, and Sherri L. (Jeff) Berger of Plymouth; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren;
and a sister, Bonnie (Frank) Pugh of Bremen.
Visitation will take place from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, March 18, 2010 at Mishler Funeral Home,
2030 S.R. 331, Bremen.
Funeral services will take place at 10 a.m. Friday, March 19 at the funeral home.
Burial will follow at Bremen cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the National Kidney Foundation.

Everett J. Rummel
GOSHEN — Everett J. Rummel, 86, of Goshen, died Tuesday, March 16, 2010 at Goshen General Hospital.
He is survived by his wife Laura; a son, David Rummel of Goshen; daughters: Cindy Stark of
Elkhart, Sharee Lynch of Scottsdale, Ariz., and Kim Thomas of Fresno, Calif.; six grandchildren;
a sister, Berniece Rummel of South Bend; and sister-in-laws, Dorothy Rummel of South Bend
and Eleanor Rummel of Nappanee.
Visitation will take place from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, March 18 and one hour prior to
services Friday at Thompson-Lengacher & Yoder Funeral Home, 950 N. Main St., Nappanee.
Funeral services will take place at 11 a.m. Friday, March 19 at the funeral home.
Burial will follow at Union Center cemetery.

Marjorie Cody
SPRINGFIELD, Ill. — Marjorie “Marge” Cody, 77, of Springfield, Ill., formerly of Plymouth and
South Bend, passed away Wednesday, March 17, 2010 at St. John’s Hospice, Springfield.
Marge was born April 12, 1932, the daughter of Claude and Bessie Dague Miller. She was
married to Frank Serf and later, William F. Cody; they both preceded her in death.
Marge earned an associate degree in Applied Sciences from Lincoln Land Community College
and worked as a Respiratory Therapist at St. Joseph’s Medical Center in South Bend, which
later evolved into her working as a home care therapist. Previous to that she also worked for
many years as a waitress at Top of the Arch in Springfield, Ill.
Marge was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church in Springfield, and a former parishioner
of St. Michael Church in Plymouth. She had volunteered as a 4-H leader for many years in
Springfield. Marge was a voracious reader and enjoyed attending her grandchildren’s sporting
and music events. Marge was a very kind and loving woman of deep faith who will be missed by
many.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and stepfather, Harry Brundige; and her son, Claude
Szewczykowski.
Marge is survived by her children, Ann (Kent) Janes of Springfield, Ill., John and Jack Cody, both
of South Bend, Jane Cody-Evans of Virden, Ill. and William “Bill” (Micky) Cody of Springfield, Ill.;
four grandchildren, Zach, Matt, and Kate Janes, all of Springfield, and Kristen Sikorski of South
Bend; her siblings, Joanne Henderson of Plymouth, and Dr. Neal Long of Deland, Fla.; and
several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Family will receive friends from 4:30 to 6:30 pm Friday, March 19 at Kirlin-Egan and Butler
Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield, Ill. Visitation will begin with a prayer service at 4:30
p.m.
Funeral Mass will be held at 10 am Saturday, March 20 at Christ the King, 1930 Barberry Dr.,
Springfield, Ill. with Rev. Msgr. David S. Lantz, celebrant.
An additional visitation will be held from 12 to 1 p.m. Monday, March 22 at the Oakhill cemetery
Chapel in Plymouth. A ceremony will begin at 1 pm.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association, 3000 Kelly Lane,
Springfield, IL, 62707; St. John’s Hospice, 800 E. Carpenter St., Springfield, IL, 62769; or to the
charity of the donor’s choice.

Mary Ellen Kline
SEBRING, Fla. — Mary Ellen Kline, age 79, passed away Wednesday, March 17, 2010 in
Sebring, Fla.
She was born in Bourbon to the late Kenneth and Anna (Larsen) Redman. She was a
homemaker and had been a resident of Avon Park, Fla. since 1976, coming from Plymouth.
She was a loving wife and mother; she enjoyed playing golf; and was the past president of the
Women’s Golf Association at River Greens Golf Course. She was a member of the Red Hat
Society; she was affiliated with the First United Methodist Church in Bourbon, and a volunteer
and past president of the Walker Memorial Auxiliary. She enjoyed ceramics, crafts and cooking.
She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Harold Kline of Avon Park, Fla.; sons, Brian (Nancy)
Wakeland of Avon Park, Fla. and David (Lois) Wakeland of Avon Park, Fla.; daughters: Linda
Chancey of Avon Park, Fla., Lynda Nicolai of Lake Placid, Fla., Pamela Stickley of Nappanee,
and Angela Cunningham of Lake Placid, Fla.; sisters, Carol (Richard) Lemler of Tippecanoe, and
Shirley (Lowell)Hisey of Rochester; brother, James Redman of Indianapolis; 14 grandchildren;
and 15 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Donald and Larry Redman.
Memorial services will be held Saturday, March 27 at 1:30 p.m. in the Stephenson-Nelson
Funeral Home, Avon Park, Fla. with Rev. Mike Adams officiating.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Hope Hospice of Sebring, Fla.

Jim Bick
ROCHESTER — Jim Bick, 69, of Rochester, died at 5:10 p.m. Thursday, March 18, 2010 at
Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne.
He is survived by his wife Katrina; daughters: Kelley (Robert) Lease of Rochester, Kristin (Paul)
Wolfe of Westfield, and Kym (Aaron) Bausback of Greensburg; a step-daughter, Nikki Weitzel of
Rochester; step-son, Shawn Shambarger of Warsaw; seven grandchildren; and two step grandchildren.
Visitation will take place from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, March 22 and one hour prior to services
Tuesday at the Good Family Funeral Home, 1200 W. 18th St., Rochester.
Funeral services will take place at 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 23 at the funeral home.
Burial will follow at Rochester IOOF cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.

Michael W., Jr. DeFranco
GROVERTOWN — Michael W. DeFranco, Jr., age 52, of 11640 East 400 North, Grovertown,
IN, 46531, passed away unexpectedly at 8:01 a.m. Thursday, March 18, 2010 at the Masonite
Corporation in Walkerton.
Michael was born Aug. 6, 1957, in Chicago, Ill., to Michael and Jean De Franco, Sr. He lived in
Grovertown for the past 22 years.
Mike worked for the Masonite Corporation in Walkerton. Michael and Reva Hardesty were united
in marriage Sept. 6, 1997, in Plymouth.
Mike is survived by his wife, Reva; his daughters, Bobbie De Franco of Indianapolis and Nichole
DeFranco of Hamlet; his son, Michael W. III and Becky De Franco of Walkerton; his step-son,
Stacy and Michelle Hardesty of Plymouth; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild; his father,
Michael W. DeFranco, Sr. of Orland Park, Ill.; and his sister, Michelle.
Memorial contributions may be given to the family.

Richard Lee Harman
NAPPANEE — Richard Lee Harman, 81, of Nappanee, died at 11:47 a.m. Thursday, March 18,
2010 at Elkhart General Hospital, Elkhart, after an extended illness.
He is survived by his wife Lorene; a daughter, Sonya (Richard) Nash of Granger; sons, Larry
(Cindy) Harman of Elkhart, and Gail (Denise) Harman of Nappanee; six grandchildren; nine
great-grandchildren; brothers, Theodore “Ted” (Marilyn) Harman of Lexington, Mass., and LeRoy
(Carol) Harman of Phoenix, Ariz.; a sister, Chearyl (Max) Miller of Warsaw; and a half-sister,
Judith (Ray) Miller of Etna Green.
Visitation will take place from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, March 22 at the Thompson-Lengacher &
Yoder Funeral Home, 950 N. Main St., Nappanee.
Funeral services will take place at 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 22 at the funeral home.
Burial will follow at South Union cemetery.

Rev. E. Richard Lewke
PLYMOUTH — Rev. E. Richard Lewke, 85, of Plymouth, formerly of Argos, died at 10:35 a.m.
Thursday, March 18, 2010 at Miller’s Merry Manor, Plymouth, following a lengthy illness.
He was born April 15, 1924 in Gary, to Herbert and Ruth I. (Bailey) Lewke and returned to the
Argos community in 1992.
He was a pastor with the United Methodist Church, serving at Pretty Lake Trinity UMC, Argos
UMC, Frankfort-Trinity UMC. He retired in June 1994. After retirement he continued his ministry
by serving as part-time Pastor of the Bourbon United Church of Christ.
He served in the United States Army Air Corp during World War II from Jan. 27, 1943 to Oct.
31, 1945 in the 4th Army Air Force-Air Transportation, stationed out of Hamilton Bay, San
Francisco, Calif.
While serving his country he earned four Bronze Stars. He graduated from Emerson High
School with the class of 1941 in Gary; from DePauw University in 1949; and received a Masters
Degree of Music from Julliard School of Music in New York City.
He is a member of the North Indiana Conference of the United Methodist Church.
He was a member of the Argos Lions Club, Argos; the Plymouth-Kilwinning Lodge No. 149, F. &
A.M., Plymouth; and Pretty Lake Trinity United Methodist Church, Plymouth.
He is also a former member of the Eastern-Star, Plymouth.
He is survived by the Morrison family of Culver and was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will take place from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday, March 21 at the Earl-Grossman Funeral
Home, 208 N. Michigan St., Argos.
Funeral services will take place at 10 a.m. Monday, March 22 at the Pretty Lake Trinity United
Methodist Church, 8985 S.R. 17, Plymouth with Rev. Michael Dixon officiating.
Burial will take place at Maple Grove cemetery, Argos, with military honors preformed by the
United States Army and Argos American Legion Post #68 .
Memorial contributions may be made to the Pretty Lake Trinity United Methodist Church, 8985
State Road 17, Plymouth.
Arrangements have been entrusted with the Earl-Grossman Funeral Home, Argos.

F. Dave Mark
PLYMOUTH — F. Dave Mark, 81, died Thursday, March 18, 2010 at St. Joseph Regional
Medical Center, Plymouth.
He is survived by his wife, Beverly; sons: F. David Mark, Jr. and Donald R. Mark, both of
Plymouth, Danny (Annie) Mark of Fish Lake and Dennis J. Mark of Houston, Texas; seven
grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; a sister, Theresa Shock of Elkhart; brothers: Clarence
Mark, Paul Mark and Pete Mark, all of Mishawaka, and Fred Mark of South Bend.
Memorial services will be held at a later date.
Palmer Funeral Home-Lakeville was entrusted with arrangements.
Memorial contributions may be made to the VA Hospital in Ft. Wayne or in Marion.

Carol E. Bottorff
PLYMOUTH — Carol E. Bottorff, 83, of 19329 W. 6th B Road, Plymouth, passed away at 10
p.m., Friday, March 19, 2010, at Miller’s Merry Manor, in Walkerton.
Carol was born March 3, 1927, in Marshall County, Ind. to William and Harriett (Eslinger)
Mattern. She was a graduate of West High School, in the Class of 1945.
Sept. 6, 1948, at the Pretty Lake Church, in Plymouth, where she was a member, Carol became
the bride of William Bottorff. She later moved her membership to the Blissville Church of the
Brethren, where she worked as the secretary and played the piano.
Carol was also a member of the Tyner Rebekah Lodge #865.
Carol was blessed with a wonderful family, which she loved very much. Her church and her
church family, were also blessings in her life. She was given a special talent of playing the piano,
which she loved sharing with others.
Her eyes were bright, and so was her smile, as she looked around the room, while playing many
hymns from memory.
Carol is survived by her husband of 63 years, William “Bill” Bottorff; their son, David and Virginia
Bottorff of Walkerton; their daughter, Cathy and Mark Sage of Palm Harbor, Fla.; six
grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by their son, William B.
Bottorff, Dec. 12, 2006.
