She is survived by sisters, Kathy (Ed) Allyn of Culver and Nancy Jordan of Lancaster, Pa.
There will be no visitation.
A graveside service will be held Thursday, Dec. 1, 2011 at 12:30 p.m. EST at Resurrection
cemetery, DeMotte.
Memorials may be made to the Marshall County Humane Society.

Dewey T., Jr. Smith
NEW PARIS -- Dewey T. Smith Jr., 40, of New Paris died Nov. 25, 2011.
He is survived by his mother, Linda K. Williams of Walkerton, stepfather, Johnny Williams of
Walkerton; father, Dewey T. Smith Sr. of Winamac; stepmother, Anna Smith of Winamac; sister,
Shelley Haddix of North Liberty; grandmother, Thelma Smith of North Judson; and daughters,
Alyssia K. Smith and Abigail J. Smith both of New Carlisle.
Visitation is Thursday, Dec. 1, 2011 at 1 p.m. CST at O’Donnell Funeral Home, Inc. North Judson.
Funeral service is 2 p.m. at the funeral home.
Burial will be at Highland cemetery, North Judson.
Cristi Sue Weldy
WYATT -- Cristi Sue Weldy, 47, of 15670 Perry Ave., Wyatt died at 11 a.m., Friday, Nov. 25,
2011 at her residence of natural causes.
Surviving is her husband, Irvin 'Bo' Weldy, parents, Donald and Virginia Lynch, Bremen, son,
Irvin (Amberlyn) Weldy II, Bremen, daughters, Khendra Shepherd, Plymouth, Amanda
(Margarito) Mejia, Bremen, seven grandchildren, and brothers, Bryan (Kathy) Lynch, Angola,
Ricky (Molly) Lynch, Bremen, and Cortland Lynch, Union Mills.
Visitation was Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at Thompson-Lengacher & Yoder Funeral
Home, Nappanee and one hour prior to the funeral service Monday at 2 p.m. at the funeral home.
Burial is in Bremen cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be given to Fibromyology Assn. or St. Paul’s Lutheran Church.
Ken A. Herrick
ARGOS -- Ken A. Herrick, 59, died at 12:22 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 27, at his home in Argos from
natural causes.
Surviving is a son, Ryan Herrick of Fort Wayne; daughter, Cassie Labeau, Etna Green; one
grandson; sisters, Nancy (Jeff) Planck of New Castle, and Sue Herrick of Silver Lake.
Cremation has taken place, and the family will receive friends Friday, Dec. 2 to Sunday, Dec. 4,
at Sue Herrick’s home, 10417 S 675 W, Silver Lake, IN 46982. Memorial contributions may be
given to the Ken Herrick Memorial Fund.

Lorine Aldine Keele
ROCHESTER -- Lorine Aldine Keele, 91, formerly of Tiosa, died Nov. 27, 2011 in Life Care
Center, Rochester.
She is survived by daughters, Linda Swick of Plymouth, Sandy (Tom) Alber of Woodburn; sons,
Ron Keele of Rochester, Jim (Carol) Keele of Warsaw, John (Catherine) Keele of Concord,
N.C., Richard (Diann) Keele of New Haven, Mike (Linda) Keele of Freemont; and 21
grandchildren and 41 great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 1 in the Good Family Funeral Home, 1200
W. 18th St., Rochester. Visitation is Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. and one hour prior to the
service in the funeral home. Burial will be in the Richland Center cemetery. Memorials may be
made to Tiosa Brethren Church or to the Life Care Center Alzheimer’s Unit.
Mary Louise Swank
LaPORTE -- Mary Louise Swank, 81, of LaPorte, died Sunday, Nov. 27, 2011 in Goshen at the
home of her son; David.
She was born June 21, 1930 in Waterford, daughter of the late Emanuel and Rose (McCormick)
Gorden.
She married
July 3, 1949 in Michigan City to Robert 'Bob' Swank who preceded her in death
April 11, 2010.
She taught elementary school for many years at Rolling Prairie, LaPorte and Michigan City
school systems. Served on the mission field with her husband in Africa from 1955-1957 and took
several short term mission trips to India. She was active in Blossoming Rose during the 1990s -
early 2000s. It started operations in 1983 and was incorporated in 1987 as a 501(c)3 charitable
organization. Their main focus has been humanitarian projects in Israel and educational travel
opportunities to the Middle East.
Surviving are three sons; Rodney (Leona) Swank of St. Louis, Mo., Curt (Kim) Swank of
Wisconsin, and Dave Swank of Goshen; eight grandchildren; Jenn (Henry) Shuffle, Josh Swank,
Johannah Swank, Atlanta Swank, Alexandra Swank, Tiffany Kinter, Barry (Keunae) Kinter, and
Amber (Matt) Ballard; two great-grandsons; Jackson Ballard and Gilead Shuffle, one great granddaughter;
Isabell Ballard, and one sister; Karen Calderone of Denver, Colo.
She was preceded in death by a sister; Jean Ulrey and her parents.
There will be a time of visitation with the family from 4 to 7 p.m. CST Friday Dec. 2, 2011 at
Cutler Funeral Home. Services will be held at 10 a.m. CST Saturday with Rev. DeWayne Coxon
officiating. Interment will follow in the Bremen cemetery, Bremen.

Marjorie R. Albright
LEITERS FORD -- Marjorie R. Albright, 87, of rural Leiters Ford, formerly of Argos, died Nov.
28, 2011 at 2:10 p.m. at her residence following a several month illness.
She was born June 7, 1924 in Plymouth to Charles and Fern (Nellans) Ferguson. She lived most
of her life in the Argos community.
July 18, 1942, Glendyn C. Albright and Marjorie R. (Ferguson) were married
and shared 64
years together. He preceded her in death Aug. 11, 2006.
When her children were of high school age she decided to enter the workforce as a very
successful accountant. She worked for the Argos Reflector, Argos; Lawmaster Pontiac
Dealership, Plymouth; and Pilgrim Farms until her retirement.
She was a member of the Argos Bible Church, and was active in the Walnut Township
Homemakers Club; and supported her husband’s campaign trail while he ran and held county
office in Marshall County. She was a graduate of Argos High School class of 1942.
After retirement she and Glendyn enjoyed traveling the United States and abroad for many
adventures. She and Glendyn also enjoyed their winters in Mesa, Ariz. where they were able to
spend time with their son Merlyn and his family. While in Mesa, Marjorie would teach calligraphy
classes and partake in painting classes at their retirement park. She also enjoyed bowling
together in league with Glendyn and their friends. Marjorie was always very crafty and enjoyed
many crafts such as cross stitch, crocheting, and sewing.
She is survived by a daughter -- Angela K. McDonnell of Leiters Ford; grandchildren -- Johnny
Mooney and wife Julie of Rochester; Jeff Mooney of Rochester; Brenyn Albright and wife Aili of
Scottsdale, Ariz.; Deena Smith and husband Wade of Mesa, Ariz.; Shoda Beehler and husband
Troy of Rochester; eight great-grandchildren with one more to arrive soon; two great-great grandchildren
with one more to arrive soon; three step great-grandchildren and two step great great-grandchildren;
brothers -- Clifford Ferguson and wife Barbara of Plymouth; Donald
Ferguson and wife Avaleen of Plymouth; Floyd Ferguson and wife Carol of Plymouth; Lloyd
Ferguson and wife Linda of Chandler, Ariz.; sisters-in-law -- Dorothy Swanson of Argos; and
Lena Ferguson of Mishawaka; and daughter-in-law -- Donita Albright of Scottsdale, Ariz.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son -- Merlyn Albright, brothers Melvin and
Robert Ferguson; sisters -- Bernice Ott and Violet Ham.
Friends may visit with the family Thursday Dec. 1, 2011 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Earl-Grossman
Funeral Home, 208 N. Michigan St., Argos.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday Dec. 2, 2011 at the funeral home, with Rev. Mark Fishburn
officiating. Burial will be at Maple Grove cemetery, Argos.

Beatrice Anders
PLYMOUTH -- Beatrice Anders, 94, died at her residence of natural causes at 12:45 p.m.
Monday, Nov. 28, 2011. She was a Marshall County resident all of her life with the exception of
wintering in Florida in the winter months for several years.
Bea, as she was affectionally known by her friends and family was born July 25, 1917, in
Bourbon. She was the daughter of Charles H. and Della May Whittmore Amones.
She graduated from Plymouth High School with the class of 1936.
A year later, on her birthday, Bea and Marvin Glenn Anders were married
in Inwood.
A homemaker, she worked for 20 years, part time, for Ag-Way, retiring in 1979.
She loved to cook and crochet and using her artistic talents, collected shells and fashioned
attractive picture frames from them.
A member of the Inwood United Methodist Church and the Women’s Society of the church, she
also was a member of the Junior TC Home-Ec Club for several years.
Bea is survived by two daughters and two sons. Her daughters are Marva Jane Hill, Plymouth,
and Donna M. Shook, Plymouth. Her sons are Glenn A. (Linda) Anders and Jerry L. (Sandra)
Anders, all of Plymouth.
She is survived by a brother, Robert H. Amones, Bixby, Okla. together with seven grandchildren,
13 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.
Bea was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two sons-in-law, Jess Hill and Jay
Shook, a granddaughter, Cheryl Hill and five brothers and five sisters.
Friends are invited to meet with Bea’s family to share memories and condolences Thursday,
Dec. 1, 2011, from 3 to 8 p.m. at the Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan St., Plymouth.
Funeral services, a celebration of her life, will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 2, 2011, in the funeral
home. The Rev. Gail Law of the Inwood United Methodist Church will officiate.
Interment will be in the New Oakhill cemetery, Plymouth.

Susan Dorthea (Schaefer) Birk
PERU -- Susan Dorthea (Schaefer) Birk, 76, of Peru, died at 2:45 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 29, 2011
at IU Med Center in Indianapolis. She had been ill for the past year. She was born Nov. 7, 1935
in Fort Wayne to Louis F and Evelyn (Burdue) Schaefer. She graduated from LaPaz High School
in 1953 and was married
to Ralph E. Birk Aug. 1, 1954. He preceded her in death Dec. 27, 2008.
Susan and Ralph built their own home in Plymouth, where they resided from the time of their
marriage until 1967 when they moved to Peru after they purchased the One Hour Cleaners. She
was also part of Miami Computer Services, Inc. for nearly 40 years, a business Ralph and her
started in 1968. She did the data entry (keypunching) and made deliveries of finished work. Until
her death, she did bookkeeping for One Hour Cleaners. Having been born during the Great
Depression and living through WWII, she was part of the generation that married
in the 1950s
and found that opportunities were nearly endless.
After high school, she worked for Emmco Insurance in South Bend, until the birth of her first son
in 1958, when she spent the next several years raising the two sons, being involved in various
school and scouting functions and such.
She bowled in a league for many years also.
She and her husband for many years planted a large garden, to which she canned and froze
numerous vegetables and fruits. An avid baker, she made thousands and thousands of cookies
over the years whether it was a school event when her sons were small or for the holidays. She
and her sisters-in-law and her mother-in-law would gather and can homemade vegetable soups
and would also work on quilts. She also did a lot of sewing in the earlier years including making
many of her own clothes.
She is survived by her two sons, Christopher L. Birk of Peru and Alan E. (June) Birk of Gilbert,
Ariz. and grandson, Regan E. Birk. She is also survived by a brother, John (Betty) Schaefer of
Plymouth and a sister, Judith DeFries of Elkhart and by a very dear friend, Lori Lees of Bunker Hill.
She is also survived by many nephews and nieces.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and by three brothers: Louis Schaefer,
Thomas Schaefer, and Richard Schaefer, all of Marshall County.
Viewing will be held Sunday, Dec. 4 from 2 to 6 p.m. at the Flowers Leedy Funeral Home, Peru.
Funeral services will be at the funeral home Monday, Dec. 5 at 10 a.m. officiated by Pastor Evan
Strong, Bunker Hill United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Springdale cemetery in Bunker Hill.

Arthur L. Grove
BREMEN -- Arthur L. Grove, 72, died Tuesday, Nov. 29 at 8:05 p.m. at the Hospice House in South Bend.
He is survived by his wife, Martha E. (McIntosh) Grove of Bremen; sons, James A. Grove of
Arkansas and David M. Grove of Colorado; daughter, Deborah S. Grove of Ohio; brother, Bill G.
Grove of Arkansas; sister, Carol M. Grove of Valparaiso; and a step granddaughter.
Visitation is Friday, Dec. 2 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Mishler Funeral Home, 2030 S.R. 331 in Bremen.
Funeral service will be held Saturday, Dec. 3 at the Milford Christian Church, 201 N. Henry St. in
Milford, at 11 a.m. with visitation one hour prior. Burial will take place at the Bremen
cemetery on a later date.
Suggested memorials can be made to Cincinnati Christian University or the Milford Christian Church.
