Elsie M. Wieringa
LAKEVILLE -- Elsie M. Wieringa, 89, of Lakeville, formerly of Culver passed away Saturday,
Aug. 27 at 5:30 a.m. in Southfield Village Nursing Home in South Bend.
Elsie was born Jan. 17, 1922 in Galveston, one of seven children born to James (Laura Ronk)
Tolley.
Nov. 15, 1941 Elsie and Edgar Wieringa were married
; together they raised two children. They
farmed together in the Culver area for more than 50 years. Elsie played shuffleboard and
belonged to a group in Plymouth. She loved her family and will be missed dearly. She attended
the Lakeville United Methodist Church in Lakeville.
Elsie is survived by daughter, Rose (Paul) Russell of Lakeville; son; Ed (Gail) Wieringa of
Marshaville, Ohio; grandchildren, Tiffany (Roger) Dillon of Canton, Ohio, Karen (Jeremy) Gaub
of Medina, Ohio, Scott (Carol) Russell of South Bend, Brian Russell of Knoxville, Tenn.; and
great-grandchildren, Samantha Dillon and Lucca Russell. Elsie was preceded by her parents,
husband, two brothers, and four sisters.
A time to gather and share memories with the family will be held Tuesday, Aug. 30, from 4 to 8
p.m. EDT at the Odom Funeral Home in Culver. Funeral services will follow Wednesday, Aug.
31, at 11 a.m. EDT at the Odom Funeral Home.
Pastor Brian White will officiate, burial will be in the Culver Masonic cemetery.
Odom Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Jimmie Hackworth
BOURBON -- Jimmie Hackworth, 51, of Bourbon died Sunday, Aug. 28, 2011 at 4:01 a.m. at St.
Joseph Regional Medical Center, Plymouth Campus of apparent heart failure.
He is survived by his two children, Jimmie Jr. (Susan) and Rusta Hackworth all of Orlando, Fla.;
two grandchildren; sisters, Gearldene (Henry) Webb of Prestonsburg, Ky., Marilyn (Everett)
Gillman of Etna Green, Shirl (James) Conklin of Bourbon; two brothers, Jack (Jackie) Hackworth
of Tippecanoe and Bobbie (Janny) Hackworth of Martin, Ky.; and sister-in-law, Theda Hackworth
of Martin, Ky.
There will not be any visitation or funeral services.

Sister Carmeline Parisi
DONALDSON -- Sr. Carmeline Parisi, 99, died at 12:35 a.m. Monday, Aug. 29, 2011 in the
Catherine Kasper Life Center on the Ancilla Domini Campus, Donaldson.
She is survived by many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 4:30 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 31 in the Catherine Kasper Home
Chapel, 9601 Union Road, Donaldson with an Evensong prayer service at 7 p.m. Mass of
Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 1 in the Chapel.
Burial will follow in the Mt. Carmel cemetery on the grounds of Ancilla Domini, Donaldson.

Linda Jean White
PLYMOUTH -- Linda Jean White, 56, of Plymouth, passed away at 1:03 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 30,
2011 at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center, Plymouth. She was born May 18, 1955 in
Indianapolis to Donald G. White, M.D. and Beverly (Stroupe) White. Her father preceded her in
death in 1977.
Linda is survived by her son, Aaron Schrop of Mishawaka; one grandson, Trevor Schrop of
Bourbon; her mother, Beverly White of South Bend; a sister, Brenda (Andrew) Kirkham of South
Bend; and three brothers, Edward White of South Bend, Gregory White of Carmel, and George
(Peggy) White of Ballwin, Mo.
Linda graduated from St. Mary’s Academy. She was an extraordinarily creative person, and had
a love of arts and crafts, antiques and animals.
A Memorial Service is being planned for a later date. Palmer Funeral Home-River Park, South
Bend and Southlawn Cremation Services are assisting the family with arrangements. The Family

Alyce M. Fritz
SOUTH BEND -- Former South Bend and Plymouth resident, Alyce M. (Mrs. Fawn) Fritz, 92,
passed away at 10:50 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 1 at the Bremen Health Care Center where she has
resided the past four years.
Alyce was one of six children born to Ray O. and Jessie M. (Turner) Baker. She was born in
Ramsey, N.D. April 12, 1919. The family moved to the Marshall County area and Alyce
graduated with the LaPaz High School class of 1937.
She then attended nursing school and was later trained by Dr. Arnold Dunfee Sr. as a dental
assistant for many years. Prior to her marriage she worked as a secretary for the Bendix
Corporation.
June 5, 1948 in South Bend, she married
Robert W. Magnuson. He would precede her in death
in 1952. She then married
Fawn J. Fritz May 23, 1953 in Constantine, Mich. He then preceded
her in death Aug. 31, 2006.
Alyce was an excellent homemaker who also cleaned homes for the Clemans Trucking Family in
South Bend.
She enjoyedembroidery, baking pies nearly every day, spending time with Fawn in the woods
and collected bird figurines, rare stones and lighthouses.
She had been active at the Pleasant View Missionary Church in Lakeville and assisted her
husband with the Lakeville Lions Club’s many activities.
Surviving are her two children; Sharon M. (Ron) Hootman of Fort Wayne, and Kenneth R. (Vicki)
Fritz of South Bend. Grandchildren include: Zachary (Sarah Freeman) Fritz of Mishawaka, Lucas
Fritz of South Bend, Heather Fritz of Moberly, Mo., Caleb Fritz of South Bend, Scott Hootman
and Jeff Hootman both of Greenwood, and Kristin Hootman of Indianapolis. One great granddaughter,
Elyse M. Hootman-Bullen of Indianapolis also survives.
Alyce was preceded in death by her spouses, two sisters; Wilma Beyler and Erma Suter and
three brothers; Glenn, Stanley and Deane Baker.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, Sept. 5 at the Johnson-Danielson
Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan St., Plymouth, where services will be held at 10:30 a.m.
Tuesday. Pastor Bradley Bohrer will officiate.
Burial will follow in the Oakhill cemetery, Plymouth.
Pauline Marie Knowlton
WALKERTON -- Pauline Marie Knowlton, 90, passed away Thursday, Sept. 1, 2011 at Miller’s
Merry Manor, Walkerton. Mrs. Knowlton was born Sept. 6, 1920 in LaPorte County, to Lewis and
Edith (Dipert) Kelver and lived in the area all of her life. April 9, 1939 in Walkerton she was
married
to Harold Ross Knowlton, who preceded her in death in 1991. She was also preceded in
death by her parents; son and wife, David and Wanda Jean Knowlton; three brothers and six
sisters. Survivors include two daughters, Katherine (Carl) Delaney of Lafayette and Sharon (Ray)
Halsey of Tyner; two sons, Jerry (Nancy) Knowlton and Gene (Diane) Knowlton, all of North
Liberty; 15 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren and special friend, Betty Hostrawser of
Walkerton.
Mrs. Knowlton was a homemaker. She was a member of the Walkerton United Methodist
Church and the United Methodist Women. She was a member of the Johnson Township Home
Demonstration Club, the LaPorte County Farm Bureau and was a Johnson Township 4-H
Leader. The family would like to thank everyone at Miller’s Merry Manor of Walkerton for the
care they provided to their mother.
Funeral services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. EDT at the Walkerton United Methodist Church with
Pastor Charlene Allen and Pastor Tim Davis officiating. Burial will be at the Woodlawn
cemetery, Walkerton. Friends may call Monday from 4 to 8 p.m. EDT at Rannells Funeral
Home, Koontz Lake Chapel and Tuesday at the church one hour prior to the service. Memorial
contributions may be given to the Walkerton United Methodist Church.
H. LaVon Kuhn
NAPPANEE -- H. LaVon Kuhn, 84, of Lakeland Rehabilitation and HealthCare, Milford, formerly
of Nappanee, died at 12:25 p.m., Thursday.
Surviving are a daughter, Trudy Jones; a son, Ted (Kelly) Kuhn, both of Nappanee; a
stepdaughter, Joy Gates, Goshen; six grandchildren, three step grandchildren; nine great grandchildren,
and a brother, Lowell (Marilyn) Kuhn, Bremen.
Visitation is for two hours prior to the 12 p.m. funeral service, Tuesday, Sept. 6, at the First
Brethren Church. Burial will be in Bremen cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to LaVon Kuhn Memorial Fund.
Dorothy A. Brown Bixler
ATHENS -- Dorothy A Brown Bixler, 80, of 99 Scott St., Athens died at 9:18 p.m. Friday at the
Chase Center of Logansport.
She is survived by her sister, Grace Marie Miller, Rochester; brothers, Kenneth Brown,
Rochester, John (Neva) Brown, Russell, Ky., and Max (Deloris) Brown of Lake Palestine.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Good Family Funeral Home, 1200 W. 18th St.,
Rochester. Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and an hour prior to services. Burial will be at
the Athens-Hoover cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Northern Indiana Community
Foundation.
Juanita Brollier
CARMEL -- Juanita Brollier, 97, of Carmel died Friday, Sept. 2, 2011 at Manor Care at Summer
Trace, Carmel.
Survivors include daughter, Linda Story; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and
brother, Dudley Keyser.
Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 4, 2011 at the Bremen cemetery
Mausoleum Chapel.
Vistitation is one hour before the service at the Bremen cemetery Mausoleum Chapel.
The Mishler Funeral Home in Bremen is assisting the family with arrangements.
Larry D., DDS Jones
FISHERS -- Larry D. Jones, DDS, 77, of Fishers, passed away at his residence Sept. 2, 2011.
He was born Dec. 8, 1934 in Momence, Ill.
Larry was a graduate of Indiana University School of Dentistry. He married
Susan Peters, and
had a private dental practice for more than 30 years.
Larry is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Susan Jones; sons, Mark, Tim and Anthony
Jones; stepdaughter, Julie Robinson; three grandchildren; a sister and a brother.

Velma M. Shores
WALKERTON -- Velma M. Shores, 91, died Friday, Sept. 2, 2011 in Hospice House, South
Bend.
Survivors include three daughters, Carolyn (Royce) Arnold of Lakeville, Nancy (Ed) Justice and
Kathy (Chuck) Haug of Koontz Lake; two sons, Carl (Nancy) Shores of Ft. Myers, Fla., and
Ronald (Mary) Shores of LaPorte; 16 grandchildren; 46 great-grandchildren; four great-great
grandchildren and one sister, June (Robert) Holt of New Haven.
Funeral services will be Wednesday at 12 p.m. EDT in Rannells Funeral Home, Koontz Lake
Chapel. Burial will be at the Woodlawn cemetery, Walkerton. Visitation is Wednesday from 10
a.m. to 12 p.m. EDT at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be given to The Center for

Gene R. Siddall
PLYMOUTH -- Gene R. Siddall, 82, passed away at 8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 2 in the Center for
Hospice Care in Elkhart. Formerly of Argos, Gene has been a resident on North Michigan Road,
Plymouth for the past 20 years.
Gene was one of 10 children born to Glenn C. and Frieda (Heyway) Siddall. His birth was Feb.
20, 1929 in Kokomo. He was a graduate of Elston High School in Michigan City.
He served his country in the U.S. Army from 1957 to 1959.
July 29, 1977 in Big Cabin, Okla. he married
Winnifred 'Winnie' Spellacy who preceded him in
death March 31, 2008.
From 1980 to 1994 Gene served as the Marshall County Building Commissioner.
Gene had a 55-year passion in aviation as a pilot and parachutist and following his retirement he
worked part time for the Plymouth Municipal Airport, caring for and fueling planes.
He held membership in EAA – Experimental Aircraft Association, AOPA – Aircraft Owner Pilots
Association and POPS – Parachutist over Pharty (40) Society.
A ham radio operator, Gene’s call # known to many was WB5KVE.
He is survived by four children; Jeanie L. (Doug) Dell of Cincinnati, Ohio, Robert B. (Viva Jo)
Siddall of Bayles Lake, Ill., Robin Sue (Bernie) Buckman and Jeff Siddall all of Tulsa, Okla.
along with multiple grand and great-grandchildren.
Siblings include; Marjorie Toothaker of South Bend, James (Carol) Siddall of Knox, David Siddall
of Omaha, Neb. and Charles (Judy) Siddall of Douglas, Wyo. and numerous nieces and
nephews.
He was preceded in death by sisters; Mary Jane Sechrist and Glenna Rethlake, and by brothers;
his twin, Jack, Gerald and Kenneth Siddall and grandson; Corbin Siddall.
Gene will be laid to rest alongside his wife Winnie and grandson Corbin in the Pine Ridge
cemetery in Loda, Ill.
A Celebration of Life service will be held during the next Siddall Family Reunion, at 10 a.m. June
10, 2012 at the Bass Lake Indiana Recreation Center.
