Sgt Jason Lee Nemeth
PLYMOUTH -- Sergeant Jason Lee Nemeth, 26, died at his residence 10734 Muckshaw Road,
Plymouth at 12:42 a.m. Wednesday, June 29, 2011.
Jason was born in South Bend Nov. 29, 1984, the son of Timothy and Diana O’Hara Nemeth.
He graduated from Plymouth High School with the class of 2003, and from Ball State University
with a B.S. in Criminal Justice in 2008.
He joined the Army Sept. 12, 2006, and was still active with the Indiana Army National Guard.
Jason was employed with the Marshall County Sheriff’s office.
He loved to play golf, hunt, target shoot and to hang out with his brother and college friends.
They got together several times a year.
His favorite college spring break place was South Padre Island and he enjoyed the Ball State
homecomings and tailgates.
He loved his family with all of his heart and his German shepherd, Waucher.
Always active, he was prepared for everything and was determined to be the best. He stayed in
great physical shape by working out.
Jason enjoyed watching and cheering on the Indianapolis Colts, and was also active playing
semi–pro football for a short time.
A true hero, Jason was deployed to Afghanistan for one tour of duty. For his part in these
achievements, he was awarded the Combat Infantry Badge, the Army Accommodation Valor
Device, the Army Achievement Medal and the Afghanistan Campaign Medal with one Star.
Jason is survived by his parents, Tim and Diana Nemeth, Plymouth; and a brother, Steve,
Muncie.
Also surviving are Gene and Margaret O’Hara, maternal grandparents, South Bend. Jason is
also survived by his aunts and uncles, Marcia and Dennis Santino, Florida, Mike and Helen
O’Hara, South Bend, Mark and Mary Jane O’Hara, and Michele and Darren Couts, all of Oregon
and numerous cousins.
Jason was preceded in death by Charles and Virginia Nemeth II, his paternal grandparents, and
Charles Nemeth III, an uncle.
Friends of Jason and his family may share memories and visit with the family Saturday, July 2,
2011, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Plymouth Wesleyan Church, 11203 S. Michigan Road,
Plymouth.
Funeral services for Sgt. Jason Nemeth will be held in the church with Pastor Ollie Dongell
officiating following the visitation at 2 p.m.

Virginia May Julian
BREMEN -- Virginia May Julian, 89, of Bremen died Thursday, June 30, 2011 at her residence.
Survivors include daughters, Kathy Barts of Bremen, Lisa (Paul) Carothers of Bremen, and
Cynthia 'Cindy' (Michael) Hickey of Bremen; three sons, David (Peggy) Julian of Lafayette, Rick
(Pam) Julian of Tennessee, and Mark Julian of Tennessee; 37 grandchildren; and 46 great grandchildren.
Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 6, 2011 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church (605 S.
Center St., Bremen). Burial will follow at the Bremen cemetery.
Friends may call from 3 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, July 5 at the church.

Eric L. Mast
INDIANAPOLIS -- Eric L. Mast, 61, of Indianapolis died June 30, 2011 at his home following a
prolonged illness.
He was born Aug. 12, 1949 in Bremen to Lowell and Edwena Keyser Mast, who preceded him in death.
He was owner/physician of Michiana Occupational Health Center in South Bend from 1992-
2000. He worked as an emergency room physician in northern Indiana from 1982-1992. From
2000-2009 he was an urgent care physician in central Indiana. Following graduation from Butler
University in 1971 and Indiana University School of Medicine in 1977, he served in the United
States Air Force Medical Corps from 1978-1982.
As hobbies, he enjoyed being a handyman and landscaping which he continued to do until his
death despite illness.
He is survived by daughters, Jennifer L. Sellers, Elizabeth A. Mast; son, Matthew L. Mast;
grandson, Luke A. Sellers; and brother, Jeffrey B. Mast.
Services will be Sept. 3 at 11 a.m. at Unitarian Universalist Church of Indianapolis. Public
graveside service and inurnment will be Sept. 4 at 1 p.m. at Bremen Municipal cemetery.

arrangements.
Mary L. Roach
PLYMOUTH -- Mary L. Roach, 69, of Cook Lake, Plymouth, died at 8:45 p.m. Thursday, June
30, 2011 in Our Lady of Peace Hospital, Mishawaka.
Surviving family members are her husband, Floyd; sons, Jeffery A. (Sherry) Roach of Fairbanks,
Alaska, and Timothy R. (Sharon) Roach of DeMotte; five grandchildren; brothers, Ralph (Dee)
Wilson of Tuscaloosa, Ala., Richard (Kay) Wilson and Robert (Nancy) Wilson all of Cassopolis;
and a sister, Sue Ann Edwards of Arcola, Ill.
Visitation is at the Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan St., Plymouth Tuesday,
July 5 from 5 to 7 p.m. Services will be conducted in the funeral home at 7 p.m. that evening.
Burial will be in the Oakhill cemetery, Plymouth.

Richard H. Cormican
KOONTZ LAKE -- Richard 'Rick' H. Cormican, 56, died Friday, July 1, 2011 in his home.
Survivors include three sisters, Sharon Coldiron of South Bend, Janet Coldiron of LaPorte, and
Penny Maloney of Knox; and one brother, James Cormican Jr. of Mishawaka.
Funeral services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. CDT at Rannells Funeral Home, Koontz Lake
Chapel. Burial will be at the Grovertown cemetery.
Visitation is Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. and Thursday one hour prior to the services in the
funeral home. Memorial contributions may be given to The Center for Hospice and Palliative

Donald J. Guy
LEITERS FORD -- Donald J. Guy, 72, of Leiters Ford died July 1, 2011 at Woodlawn Hospital,
Rochester.
He is survived by three daughters, Elizabeth (Darrin) Bensinger, Samantha (Michael) Johnson,
and Candace (Michael) Jorden all of Hammond; grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Private family services are being observed.

Mary D. Leininger
PLYMOUTH -- Mary D. Leininger, 92, of 4th Road, Plymouth and formerly of rural Akron died at
4:18 p.m., Saturday, July 2, 2011 at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center, Mishawaka.
She was born Nov. 29, 1918 in Fulton County to Omer L. Miller and Pearl Zimmerman.
Nov. 28, 1937 in Rochester, she married
Marion E. Leininger who passed Jan. 22, 2000.
Mary was a homemaker, cook, and farmed along side her husband. She also was the cook at
the Rochester Sale Barn for many years.
Mary graduated in 1936 from Talma High School. She was a member of the Bethlehem Baptist
Church and most recently she attended the Community Church of God in LaPaz. She was a past
member of the Better Homes and Gardens Community Home Ec Club and the Bethlehem
Missionary Circle Society. Mary enjoyed needlepoint, word search books, and helping others,
including watching and sharing with her grandchildren. She was well known for her noodle
making.
Survivors include a daughter, Judy McCartney of Plymouth; son, William (Buni) Leininger of
Akron; eight grandchildren, Scott (Marcia) McCartney, Doug (Karen) McCartney, Tim (Kelly)
McCartney, Eric (Nan) McCartney, Linda (Jeff) Baney, Thad (Rochelle) Leininger, Aron (Olivia)
Leininger, and Cami (Dave) Shriver; 15 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by brothers, Don, Ed, Gerald, Harold, and Leroy Miller; two infant
sisters; and son-in-law, Edward McCartney.
Services will be at 2 p.m., Thursday, July 7, 2011 at Hartzler Funeral Home, 305 W. Rochester
St., Akron, with Rev. Sam McClimans officiating. Burial will be at Rochester IOOF cemetery,
Rochester. Visitation hours are 4 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, July 6, 2011 at Hartzler Funeral Home,
305 W. Rochester St., Akron. Memorial contributions may be made to Bethlehem Baptist Church
or the Community Church of God of LaPaz.
Donald J. Knop
KOONTZ LAKE -- Donald J. Knop, 81, died Sunday, July 3, 2011 at St. Joseph Regional
Medical Center, Plymouth.
Survivors include one son, William Knop of Koontz Lake; two grandchildren; and one sister,
Marilyn (Tom) Kasper of Orland Park, Ill.
Funeral services will be Friday, July 8, 2011 at 11 a.m. CDT at St. Matthew Lutheran Church of
Hamlet. Burial with military honors will follow at Grovertown cemetery. Visitation is Friday at the
church from 9 until 11 a.m. Rannells Funeral Home, Koontz Lake Chapel is handling
arrangements.
Robert P. Vermillion
KNOX -- Robert P. Vermillion, 84, died Sunday, July 3, 2011 in IU Health, LaPorte Hospital.
Survivors include his wife, Hilda; three sons, James (Diane) Vermillion of Walkerton, Ronald (Jill)
Vermillion of Grovertown, and Steven Vermillion of Knox; seven grandchildren and 14 greatgrandchildren.
Funeral services will be Friday, July 8, 2011 at 2 p.m. CDT at Rannells Funeral Home, Hamlet
Chapel. Burial will be at the Crown Hill cemetery in Knox. Friends may call Friday at the funeral
home from 10 a.m. until the time of services.

Lucile Irene Maxson
PLYMOUTH -- Lucile Irene Maxson, 95, a resident of River Park, Plymouth, passed away at
12:35 p.m. Monday, July 4, 2011, in Miller’s Merry Manor, Plymouth.
Lucile was born in Kosciusko County April 1, 1916. She was the daughter of Ray and Zelda
Sumpter Thomas. She attended LaPaz High School.
May 5, 1934, Lucile and Russell L. Maxson were married
. Russell died in August of 1988.
Lifetime Marshall County resident, she was a homemaker, and a farmer’s wife and for 12 years
she drove a school bus.
She was a member of the Lakeview Homemakers Club, the Shiloh Wesleyan Church and the
Helpful Hour Club.
Handy and talented with her hands, she used to make candles, pillows and beautiful quilts.
She had a lovely collection of nice Cupie dolls.
Lucile is survived by two daughters and a son. They are Joan Bammerlin, Inverness, Fla, Linda
(David) Rash, LaPaz, and Larry (Diana) Maxson, Lake of the Woods.
A sister, Letha Flory of Nappanee also survives together with seven grandchildren, Steve
(Becky) Bammerlin, Kevin (Nancy) Bammerlin, James (Judy) Bammerlin, Kimberly (Shane)
Whitsel, Larry (Dawn) Maxson Jr., William (Cindy) Rash and Sherri (Jeffrey) Stewart.
Lucile is also survived by 13 great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Hughes; a son-in-law, Richard Bammerlin; and a
great-granddaughter, Brooke Thompson.
Friends will be welcomed for visitation Thursday, July 7, 2011, from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Johnson-Danielson
Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan St., Plymouth.
Funeral services for Lucile will be held Friday, July 8, 2011, at 9 a.m. at the Johnson-Danielson
Funeral Home with Pastor Chuck Krieg officiating.
Burial will be in Oakhill cemetery next to her beloved husband, Russell.

Jailyn Ruth Cassel
BREMEN -- Jailyn Ruth Cassel was born in to the Lord’s hands July 7, 2011 in Bremen. She is
survived by her parents, Chase Cassel and Lenae Bennitt both of Bremen; maternal
grandparents, Todd and Jenny Bennitt of Bremen; paternal grandmother, Gina Cassel of
Bremen; maternal great-grandparents, Bob and Judy Bennitt of Plymouth; and paternal great grandfather,
Gene Holdeman of Plymouth.
Funeral service will be held at 4 p.m. Thursday, July 14, 2011 at the Bremen cemetery Chapel.
Visitation is one hour before the service at the chapel.
