Jerry Lee Burkett
ROCHESTER -- Jerry Lee Burkett, 71, of 1082 E. 375 N. Rochester, died Thursday, June 23,
2011 at his residence.
He is survived by his wife, Janet; daughter, Jeralyn (Steven) Hines of Rochester; son, Jay
(Robin) Burkett of Chicago; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; brothers, Dick
(Margaret) Burkett of Rochester, and Don (Jackie) Burkett of Rochester.
Funeral services will be at 5 p.m. Sunday, June 26, 2011 in the Good Family Funeral Home,
1200 W. 18th St., Rochester.
Visitation is from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home.
Burial will be in the Richland Center cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Rochester Fire Department, the Richland Center United
Methodist Church or to Hope Hospice of Fulton County.

Frank Milton, Jr Stubblefield
CULVER -- Frank Milton Stubblefield Jr. of Culver passed away peacefully at his home
surrounded by his family Friday, June 24, 2011.
He was an active volunteer in both the Culver community as well as the Culver Military Academy.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Dr. Frank Milton Stubblefield Sr. and May (Price)
Stubblefield, and his wife, Allene 'Chris' Stubblefield.
Frank is survived by his sons, Frank Milton (Carol) Stubblefield III, Warner William (Susan)
Stubblefield, and John Price (Michele) Stubblefield; daughter, Kathleen (John) Sweeney;
grandchildren, William - May Bollinger 'Bo' Stubblefield, Joseph Werner Carlson 'Sam'
Stubblefield, Madalyn (Matthew) Stubblefield Schepers, and Gabrielle Lynn Stubblefield; great grandson,
Liam Christopher Schepers; sister, Susan Schwerdtfeger; and two nieces.
Memorial services will be held at the Culver Military Academy chapel Thursday, June 30 at 11
a.m. Memorials may be given in Frank’s honor to the Culver Educational Foundation or St.
Elizabeth’s Episcopal Church in Culver.
Odom Funeral Home of Culver is in charge of arrangements.

Veda G. Mayhew
ROCHESTER -- Veda G. Mayhew, 90, of 1729 Bancroft Ave., Rochester died at 11:30 a.m.
Sunday, June 26 at Hickory Creek of Rochester.
She is survived by daughters, Lorene (Gerald) Burns of Leesville, La., Ann Matthews of
Rochester, and Darlene (Dan) Snyder of Rochester; son, Marvin (Sue) Mayhew of Rochester;
two brothers, Simon (Margie) Tennant of Fairmont, W.Va., and William (Helen) Tennant of
Barraksville, W.Va.
Services will be Tuesday, June 28 at 3 p.m. in the Good Family Funeral Home, Rochester.
Visitation will be two hours prior to the services. Burial will follow in Citizen’s cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Hickory Creek Aviary.

Gale L. Murphy
PLYMOUTH -- Gale L. Murphy, 95, of Plymouth, passed away at 10:30 a.m. Sunday, June 26,
2011, in the Catherine Kasper Living Center, Donaldson.
He was born, together with a twin brother, Dale A. Murphy, Oct. 17, 1915, in Marshall County,
the son of Homer A. and Grace E. Vinnedge Murphy. He lived in Marshall County most of his life.
Gale graduated from Lakeville High School with the class of 1935. He served in the U.S. Army in
World War II. As a technical sergeant he was stationed for three years in the South Pacific.
He was the owner/operator of Lake of the Woods Grocery Store. He also worked as a welder for
South Bend Fabricated Steel for 18 years, retiring in 1981. He was also associated with Alonzo
Oil, North Liberty and at Associates in South Bend.
Gale’s first wife was Dorothy Wynn. They married in 1937. Dorothy died in 1967. In 1970, Gale
and Lyda Epley Trahan were married : she died July 12, 1998.
Gale is survived by a son, John W. Murphy of Plymouth; and a daughter–in-law, Micky, of San
Diego, Calif.
Also surviving are stepdaughters, Sherry (Robert) Tuszynski, of Naperville, and Janelle (Walt)
Jurkiewicz of New York, and a step grandson, Bruce Tuszynski.
Several grandchildren and many great-grandchildren survive as well, together with his twin
brother, Dale of Donaldson. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive him.
Gale was preceded in death by his parents; two wives; a son, Michael; and two brothers,
Kenneth Murphy, and Dorlen W. Murphy.
A Mason for more than 60 years, Gale was a member of the Lakeville Masonic Lodge, #353, a
member of the Scottish Rite of South Bend and a member of the Orak Shrine in Michigan City.
He was the former fire chief of Lake of the Woods Fire Dept., and helped to build the fire station.
He was also a member of the American Legion, Post 365 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars,
Post 8972, both of whom will accord him full military rites together with the South Bend Honor
Guard at his gravesite Wednesday, June 29.
Gale joined in June 1984, the First United Church of Christ in Plymouth where he served as an
elder, a position, he held for many years.
Visitation with Gale’s family will be held Wednesday, June 29, 2011, from 9 to 11 a.m., followed
by Masonic Services at 11 a.m. in the Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan St.,
Plymouth.
Funeral services will take place after the Masonic Service. The Rev. Brian White, pastor of the
Lakeville United Methodist Church, will officiate. Burial, with full military honors, will follow in the
South Lawn cemetery, South Bend.
Memorial gifts in Gale’s memory may be made to The Center for Hospice Care, 112 S. Center
St., Plymouth, IN 46563; or to the Catherine Kasper Living Center P.O. Box 1, Donaldson, IN.

Art Suter
PLYMOUTH -- Art Suter, 73, a lifetime resident of Plymouth, passed away Sunday, June 26,
2011 at 6:15 a.m. Art died at Miller’s Merry Manor of natural causes, in the loving care of family
and friends.
His sons who were with him when he passed said that he had a beautiful smile on his face, a
trait that he had all of his life.
Art said, 'Everything that was good in my life was due to a friend or from some special woman
supporting me. Anybody that gets anywhere, disabled or not, has to have a lot of help.'
Born in Plymouth July 30, 1937, he was the son of Ralph and Erma Suter. Art was a 1955
graduate of Plymouth High School. He learned how to walk with crutches and participated in
physical activities all of his life.
As a teenager he played baseball. He was catcher for two teams. When it was his turn to bat, he
did so, with a pinch runner for the bases.
Upon graduation he opened Art’s Saw Shop. In 1963, partnering with his brother Charlie, Art
expanded the shop into a Schwinn Bike retail shop, which they ran until 1984. He and his brother
made Christmas special for hundreds of Plymouth kids. He estimated that his shop sold about
300 bikes a year.
In 1985, Art became the nightshift dispatcher for the Plymouth Police Department. After 15 1/2
years, he retired in 2000.
Art was very active in his community. A past officer of Plymouth Jaycees, he was elected to the
Plymouth City Council in 1982. He beat the popular Max Schuh by six votes. Art got a special
license plate for his blue Thunderbird that read, 'V 6.'
He was involved in numerous community affairs, including the United Way and the Chamber of
Commerce.
May 25, 1979, Art married Margaret 'Marge' Hewitt at the First United Methodist Church. Upon
their marriage, he became the proud father of Marge’s three boys. His crowning achievement, he
often said, was helping to raise Jim, Joe and John.
Art was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt and fish. When awarded a wish by the
organization Never Too Late, Art chose to take one last fishing trip on Lake Maxinkuckee in May
of 2011. He also enjoyed playing chess, watching NASCAR races, and spending time with his
family and friends
Art was preceded in death by his father, Ralph; mother, Erma; brother, Charles; and niece,
Karen Welch.
He is survived by his wife, Marge; their three sons, Jim Lipa (Lynn) of Chicago, Joe Hopkins
(Sandy) of Mishawaka, and John Hewitt (Jennifer) of Plymouth; a sister, Carol Welch (Merle) of
Plymouth; and sister-in-law Linda Piper (Gene) of Plymouth.
Also surviving are five grandchildren, Christian, Courtney, Erin, Jeanann, Audra; and eight great grandchildren,
Kaitlyn, Cassidy, Matthew, Josiah, Zachary, Locke, Zabram, and Espen.
Friends will be welcomed by the family from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, June 29, 2011, at Johnson-Danielson
Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan St., Plymouth, and at the Trinity United Methodist
Church, 425 S. Michigan St., Plymouth, Thursday, June 30 for one hour prior to the 1 p.m.
funeral service.
Interment will be in Oakhill cemetery in Plymouth.

Carl E. "Porky" Bellman
BREMEN -- Carl E. 'Porky' Bellman, 81, of Bremen, passed away Monday, June 27, 2011 at
his residence. He was born June 20, 1930 in Bremen to Charles and Bernice (Martin) Bellman.
June 25, 1955 he married Shirley Walker, who preceded him in death in 1996. He then married
Betty Z. Casper July 31, 1999, she survives.
Carl graduated from Bremen High School in 1948 and was a US Army Korean War veteran,
serving from 1951-1953. He was a member of Riverside Methodist Church and retired from
NIPSCO after 40 years. He was a member of the NRA, United Steel Workers of America,
Bremen VFW and Masonic Lodge.
Survivors include wife, Betty Bellman of Bremen; daughter, Sandra (Terry) Roth of Glendale
Heights, Ill; son, Scott (Maria) Bellman of Orion Lake, Mich.; two stepsons, Bryan (Cindy) Casper
of Argos, and Bruce (Dawn) Casper of Plymouth; two grandchildren, Eric and Stefan Bellman;
and six step grandchildren, Heather, Alex, Bryce, Ted and Tiffaney Casper and Kristina (Evan)
Horner, and one step great-grandson, Grant Horner
He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Shirley Bellman; and sister Esther Waters.
Funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, July 1, 2011 at the Mishler Funeral Home,
Bremen and will be officiated by Pastor Gary Hinkle. Burial will follow at the Bremen cemetery
with military rites.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. and 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, June 30 at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Bremen VFW.
The Mishler Funeral Home in Bremen is assisting the family with arrangements.

Sherri L. Graves
CULVER -- Sherri L. Graves, 49, of Culver died Monday, June 27, 2011.
She is survived by her husband, Timothy Graves; parents, Philip and Sharon Giltz of Kentucky;
daughter, Jillian Graves of Culver; a granddaughter; and siblings, Bradley Giltz of Kentucky, Kim
Black-Giltz of Kentucky, and Jeff Giltz of Lake Station.
Services are Wednesday, June 29, 2011 at 1 p.m. CDT at the Community Church of the
Seventh Day Adventist in Knox. Memorial contributions may be made to the family.
M.C. Smith Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Dorothy Marie Bonewitz (Alstedt)
WARSAW -- Dorothy Marie Bonewitz (Alstedt), 86, of Warsaw, died Sunday, June 26, 2011 at 9
p.m. in Greencroft Health Care Goshen.
She is survived by her children, Roberta K. (Steve) Anderson of Leesburg, Michael R. (Nancy)
Bonewitz of Goshen, David P. (Anne) Bonewitz of Warsaw, Debora J. (Jim) Ellis of New Paris
and Nancy E. (Ken) Miller of Bourbon; 29 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren; and sisters,
Laveta (Lyle) Kenney of Alexis, Ill., and Thelma (Don) Krantz of San Diego, Calif.
There will be no visitation.
A graveside service will be Thursday, June 30, 2011 at 11 a.m. at Parks cemetery.
Burial will follow in the Parks cemetery in Bourbon.
Deaton-Clemens Funeral Home of Bourbon is in charge of funeral arrangements.

Helen McClintick
EAST ALTON, Ill. -- Helen McClintick, 67, formerly of Plymouth passed away at 10:43 p.m.
Wednesday, June 29, 2011. She was born Oct. 29, 1943 in Willowcliff, Ohio the daughter of the
late William and Elva (Rice) West. She married Gene McClintick in 1972 in Plymouth and he
preceded her in death Nov. 22, 2006. Survivors include one son, Steven McClintick of Cape
Coral, Fla.; one stepson, Mike McClintick of Texas; four stepdaughters, Christinea of Texas,
Bonnie, Tina, and Michelle all of the Plymouth area; several grandchildren, several great grandchildren;
two sisters, Diana Boroff of Frankford, Del., Elsie Palmer of Moro, Ill.; two
brothers, John West of Argos, Denver West of Plymouth; and several nieces and nephews all survive.
She was formerly employed at several nursing homes as a cook. She was a member of the
Salvation Army Church in Alton. She was a member of the TOPS in Bethalto, and she enjoyed
playing Bingo at Dad's Club Park in South Roxana.
She was preceded in death by her parents and three sisters, Nancy Moser, Mary Crago, Patricia
Ruffing, and one brother, Kenneth West.
In celebration of her life, visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, July 3, 2011 at Pitchford
Funeral Home in Wood River, Ill. Funeral services will be held at 5 p.m. Sunday, July 3, 2011 at
the funeral home. Captain Randy Tooley will officiate. Burial will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday, July 5,
2011 at Oak Hill cemetery in Plymouth.
Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society Hope Lodge in St. Louis, Mo.
