JOE W. GUNN

PEKIN ~ Joe White Gunn, 84, of 212 Cypress Street, Pekin, died at 1:42 p.m. Thursday, September 11, 2003 at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria.
Born August 10, 1919 in Little Rock, Arkansas to James Oliver and Mattie Ophelia White Gunn, he married Pauline Gladys Blank on December 20, 1944 in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. She died May 6, 2003 in Pekin. Four brothers and three sisters also preceded him in death.
Surviving are one daughter, Nancy E. (Fred) Harms of Canton; one son, James A. Gunn of Pekin; and one sister, Annie Lee Parker of Jonesboro, Arkansas.
Mr. Gunn and his wife owned and operated Economy Shoes in downtown Pekin for 15 years, retiring in 1987. He previously worked at JC Penney’s for 7 years at stores in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, Galesburg, and Danville. He later worked at Carp’s Department Store for 16 years at Mount Vernon and later as store manager in California, Missouri; Sullivan, Missouri; Canton, and last in Pekin.
He was a former member of Kiwanis and a former member of the Masonic Lodge for over 50 years.
He had played the piano for several dance bands throughout Illinois and Missouri for many years.
He was of the Methodist faith.
Masonic services will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday, September 15, 2003 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel with funeral services following. The Rev. Terry C. Edele will officiate. Visitation will be 30 minutes before the Masonic service. Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery in Pekin.

ANNIE L. WILSON
(1934~2003)
PEKIN ~ Annie Lois Wilson, 69, of 905 Truman Drive, Pekin, died at 4:39 p.m. Wednesday, September 10, 2003 at her home. She was formerly of Bee Branch, Arkansas.
Born January 23, 1934 in Hattieville, Arkansas to Andrew and Rhoda Belle Webb Martin, she married Darrell Arvil Wilson on August 15, 1950 in Heber Springs, Arkansas. He survives.
Also surviving are three sons, Arvil Duane (Diana) Wilson of Pekin, Donald Ray (Debra) Wilson of Brimfield, and Timothy Joe Wilson of Manito; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Jewell Dean Knapp and Ina Victoria (Douglas) Shearer, both Wilburn, Arkansas.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother (William Lewis Martin), and two sisters (Zelma Rhea George and Shelby Jean Knapp).
A homemaker, Mrs. Wilson also had been a caregiver and cleaned homes in the Pekin and Bee Branch, Arkansas areas.
She was a member of the Church of the Nazarene in Clinton, Arkansas, where she was a past church board member. She also was a former member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Pekin, where she had served as a bus minister. She was involved in children’s ministries at both churches.
She enjoyed making crafts, gardening, cooking, baking, canning, and quilting.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, September 13, 2003 at the First Church of the Nazarene in Pekin. The Rev. Greg Mason will officiate. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, September 12, 2003 at the Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel and one hour before services Saturday at the church. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery in Pekin. A memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m. Monday, September 15, 2003 at the Church of the Nazarene in Clinton, Arkansas, with the Rev. William Fosse officiating.

CREVE COEUR ~ Jason Daniel "Red" Rader, 27, of 795 Wesley Road, was pronounced dead at 8:56 a.m. Tuesday, September 9, 2003 at 1071 Wesley Road in Creve Coeur.
He was born February 23, 1976 in Peoria to Jimmy D., Sr. and Sharol A. Bumbalough Rader.
Surviving are his mother and step-father, Sharol A. and Wayne Lincoln of Pekin; his father and step-mother, Jimmy D., Sr. and Cathy L. Rader of Pekin; his girlfriend, Kelly Marie Vrell, with whom he made his home; two daughters, Alexis Diane Rader of Pekin and Madeline Nicole Rader of Creve Coeur; one half-brother, Darrin McClaski of Bartonville; two brothers, Jimmy D., Jr. (Faith) Rader and Jacob Rader, both of Pekin; two step-brothers, Kirt (Paige) Gibbs of Pekin and Mike (Julie) Lincoln of Minooka; three step-sisters, Julie (Gary) Placher of Chillicothe, Kristina (Joey) Nizzia and Kimberly (Shawn) Taylor, both of Pekin; his grandmothers, Betty Rader of Creve Coeur and Wanita Bumbalough of East Peoria.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Jasmine Dean Rader on December 25, 2000 in Pekin and his grandfathers.
Jason worked as an operator and laborer for Central Illinois Freight Handling in Creve Coeur since September of 1994. He was a member of the United Steel Workers Union Local 13748.
Jason was a talented artist and loved playing the bass guitar. He loved to make people happy.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, September 12, 2003 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel. Deacon Tom Rader will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, September 11, 2003 at the funeral home in Pekin. Burial will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin.

PEKIN ~ Rebecca Lynn "Becki" Ray, 35, of 8 North 19th Street, died at 9:45 a.m., Monday, September 8, 2003 at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria.
She was born November 13, 1967 in Peoria to F. Elvis and Ruth Bernice Moon Ray.
Surviving are her mother of Pekin; one son, Cody Ray Bishop of Bartonville; three brothers, Steven M. (Laurie) Ray of Denver, Colorado, David A. (Arlene) Ray of Bartonville and E. Douglas (Jennifer) Ray of Peoria and eight sisters, Linda L. (Russ) Reynolds of Dallas, Texas, J. Colleen Fields of Peoria, Martha L. (Paul) Carver of East Peoria, Brenda R. (Craig) Evans of Houston, Texas, Joyce D. (Bob) Rafferty of Peoria, Sheila A. (Dave) Boskey of Lehighton, Pennsylvania, Karen S. (Cary) Becker of East Peoria and Sharon E. Ray of Pekin.
Her father preceded her in death on December 29, 2001 in Pekin.
She was a receptionist for Sunspray Tanning in East Peoria.
She enjoyed archery, fishing and collecting Indian artifacts. She also enjoyed writing and reading poetry.
She had attended Lighthouse Church of God in Pekin.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, September 12, 2003 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel. The Rev. Keith D. Moore will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, September 11, 2003 at the funeral home. Burial will be in Cottonwood Cemetery, rural Hanna City.

LORRIE A. MCCAIN

MANITO ~ Lorrie Ann McCain, 45, of 12869 Haas Court, Manito, died at 3:37 p.m. Thursday, September 4, 2003 at her home.
She was born June 15, 1958 in Dekalb to Harold Dean and Donna Lou Elliott McCain.
Surviving are her mother of Pekin; one brother, Brad D. (Karen) McCain of Pekin; two sisters, Penny L. McCain of Pekin and Jennifer K. (Walt) Hamann of Manito; and Steve W. Crowe, with whom she made her home.
Her father preceded her in death on April 22, 1976 in Pekin and one brother, Mark McCain on June 1, 1975 in Peoria.
Lorrie had worked for the Tazewell Animal Protective Society in Pekin for nine years. She then worked for Pekin Public Schools District 108 as a custodian for nine years. She later worked as the bar manager at the Peoria Sportsman’s Club in rural Manito for five years. She again worked for Pekin Public Schools District 108 for one year, last working in 2001 at Jefferson School.
She was a member of the Peoria Sportsman Club and the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 1869 Auxiliary in Pekin.
She enjoyed gardening, canning, baking, and cooking.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, September 8, 2003 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel. The Rev. Tom Thomas will officiate. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, September 7, 2003 at the funeral home. Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery in Pekin.

JOHN B. HARRIS
(1948~2003)
PEKIN—John Blair Harris, 55, of 802 N. 2nd St. died at 1:50 p.m., Thursday, September 4, 2003 at his home.
Born June 28, 1948 in Peoria to Thomas H. and Lucille G. McClintick Harris, he married Deborah L. Lynch on July 17, 1968 in Ft. Huachuca, Arizona.
He was preceded in death by his wife on February 16, 2003 in Canton; and his father, on August 30, 1994 in Pekin.
Surviving are his mother of Aurora, Colorado; 1 daughter, Penni Harris of Lewistown; 1 brother, Alan W. (Cheri) Harris of Highland Village, Texas; and 1 sister, Maryann (John) Geraghty of Aurora, Colorado.
Mr. Harris had worked out of Laborers Local #231 in Pekin for many years. Previously, he had worked for Pabst Brewing Company in Peoria Hts. from 1970-76. He had also been a guitarist in the local group the "Little Kiddles" during the 1960’s.
He served in the U.S.
Army with the 101st Airborne division in Viet Nam. He had been awarded the Bronze Star and the
Army Commendation Medal.
He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans. He was an avid golfer and music lover. He attended Grace United Methodist Church.
Funeral services will be at 2:30 p.m., Monday, August 8, 2003 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin chapel. Rev. Krista L. Brockman will officiate. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to services at the funeral home. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery in Tremont.

PHILIP F. KRIEGSMAN
(1928~2003)
PEKIN ~ Philip F. Kriegsman, 75, of 626 Country Club Lane, died at 3:07 p.m. Thursday, September 4, 2003 in the emergency room of Pekin Hospital.
Born March 22, 1928 in Pekin to Arthur T. and Jessie Elizabeth Freitag Kriegsman, he married Janet Elaine Moorhead on September 20, 1952 in Des Moines, Iowa. She survives.
Also surviving are three daughters, Bethany L. (Daryl) Maus of Golden, Colorado, Catherine M. (Thomas, Jr.) Veerman of Pekin and Darcy A. Kriegsman of Murphysboro and two grandchildren, Haley A. Veerman and Tyler M. Veerman, both of Pekin.
He was preceded in death by parents and one sister, Susan M. Hannan on February 9, 2001 in Pekin.

Korean War
Army veteran, he had attended Illinois Wesleyan University and Drake University. He was a member of Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity.
He was a Past President and the longtime Chief Executive Officer of First Federal Savings and Loan Association in Pekin.
Mr. Kriegsman was the President of KMI Industries, Inc., the family business located in Pekin, which just recently celebrated its 90th year in business. He also was the Vice-president of Polar Supply in Peoria. With KMI, he was a former vice-president of the Illinois Movers and Warehousemens Association and a member of the Pekin Traffic Club and Peoria Transportation Club.
He was formerly elected and served 8 years as a member of Tazewell County Board and was a past president and former member of the Kiwanis Club of Pekin. He also was a former member and vice-president of the Pekin Jaycees. An advocate for youth, he also was formerly involved with Junior Achievement and the Boy Scouts.
Mr. Kriegsman was a former member of the Pekin Area Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors and also served on the first Community Chest Board in Pekin. He was a past chairman of the Tazewell Cancer Crusade. He was a member of Pekin Country Club.
He was a lifelong member of Grace United Methodist Church in Pekin, where he was a member of the endowment committee and faithfully served on numerous church committees including the Church Council. He also helped his wife and daughter, Cathy; teach the Sunday school class for pre-schoolers.
His memorial service will be at 6 p.m. Monday, September 8, 2003 at Grace United Methodist Church in Pekin. The Rev. Gary L. Ford will officiate. Private inurnment will be in Lakeside Mausoleum in Pekin. Arrangements are by Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel.

PEKIN—Janet Sue Christensen, 57, of 2125 Veterans Rd. in Morton, died at 10:32 a.m., Thursday, September 4, 2003 at Apostolic Christian Timber Ridge in Morton. She was formerly of Pekin.
She was born September 16, 1945 in Pekin to Morton P. and Ada Mae Layer Christensen, Sr.
Surviving are 2 sisters, Pamelia (John) Hafliger of Pekin and Patricia Sanders of Anaheim, California; and 4 brothers, Donald K. (Jacqueline) Christensen of Manito, Morton P. Christensen, Jr. of Naples, Florida, Wayne P. Christensen of Wayland, Michigan, and Dale Ray (Gail) Christensen of Morton.
She was preceded in death by her parents; 3 sisters; and 1 brother.
She had been employed by P.A.R.C. in Peoria from 1979-96.
She had participated in Special Olympics for many years and enjoyed bowling.

LOUIS J. PESCAGLIA
(1911~2003)
HOPEDALE ~ Louis John Pescaglia, 91, of 107 Tremont Street, Hopedale, died at 4:45 a.m. Tuesday, September 2, 2003 at Hopedale Nursing Home. He was formerly of 7693 Sparrow Road in Hopedale.
Born November 26, 1911 in Orchard Mines to Guiseppe and Rosa Pesaresi Pescaglia, he married Rachel Gertrude Mote on June 1, 1935 in Pekin. She survives.
Also surviving are two sons, James L. (Linda) Pescaglia of New Franklin, Missouri and Gerald W. (Donna) Pescaglia of Rocheport, Missouri; one daughter, Louise R. (Richard) Hayes of Pekin; seven grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.
His parents, one infant grandson (Jerry N. Butler), two brothers (Sincero Pescaglia and Cevial Pescaglia), and two infant brothers preceded him in death.
Mr. Pescaglia began Pekin Hardwood Lumber Company in 1960, where he served as president until his retirement in 1993. In 1980 he opened Missouri-Pacific Lumber Company in Fayette, Missouri and in 1997 was instrumental in the opening of the Woodworker’s Shop in Pekin, Bloomington, Morris, and last in Springfield. He also had owned and operated the Twilight Inn in Orchard Mines from 1945 to 1946, the Y Tavern in Pekin from 1947 to 1948, and Mackinaw Hardwood Lumber Company from 1950 to 1958. He was co-owner of Pescaglia Brothers Saw Mill in Orchard Mines in the 1930’s and Havana Lumber Company in Pekin from 1949 to 1970.
He had served on the Board of Directors of the Heights Bank in Peoria Heights and Hopedale Medical Complex.
He was a member of Saint Joseph Catholic Church in Pekin. He was a former member of the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge #916 and the Benevolent Protective Order of Elks Lodge #1271, both of Pekin. He also was a former third degree member of Knights of Columbus Archbishop Schlarman Council #3507 in Pekin.
He enjoyed
hunting and fishing, and was an avid bowler, where he was on several area championship bowling teams.
A funeral mass will be at 11 a.m. Friday, September 5, 2003 at Saint Joseph Catholic Church in Pekin. The Rev. David Whiteside will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, September 4, 2003 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel, where a Christian wake service will be held at 7 p.m. Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery in Pekin.
