Muriel Louise (Angle) Hutson
SESSER -- Muriel Louise (Angle) Hutson, 86 of Sesser died Nov. 23, 2004, in Springfield while visiting her daughter for the holiday. Muriel was born to Trilby Jane and Elza Angle on March 24, 1918, in Sesser. She was a lifelong resident of the small town. She married William Herbert Hutson on Dec. 31, 1939. Herbert preceded her in death. They had four children. Muriel was known for her uncanny wit and wisdom, and brought a smile to many faces. She was known for her sense of humor. She was the type of person who could tell the truth to anyone, and make them laugh about it. She was a housewife, mother and a Christian. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Sesser. She is survived by her four children, Herbert and Connie Hutson of Sesser, Ronald and Deena Hutson of Tamaroa, Patricia Elliott-Tait and Ed Tait of Benton, Janice and Paul Elders of Springfield; eight grandchildren, Shari and Jon Jones of Sesser, Michelle and Dave McPhedran of LaSalle, Deborah Hutson of Kankakee, Bradley and Deb Hutson of Sesser, Marcus Elliott of West Palm Beach, Fla., Jared Elliott of Evansville, Ind., Brittany Elders of Springfield, and Paul William Elders of Springfield; four great-grandchildren, Jenna Jones of Sesser, Makayla and David McPhedran of LaSalle, and a bundle of joy to arrive in January 2005. She is also survived by several loving nieces, and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Trilby Jane and Elza Angle, stepfather Marshall Bradley, stepbrother Wayne Bradley, and son-in-law Michael Keith Elliott. Services will be held at First Christian Church in Sesser at 11 a.m. Saturday. Interment will be in Maple Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be at Brayfield-Gilbert Funeral Home after 6 p.m. Friday and from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the church. Memorials may be made to the First Christian Church in Sesser and will be accepted at the funeral home.

WEST FRANKFORT -- Lee Melvin, 89, of Friendship, Wis., formerly of West Frankfort, died Monday, Nov. 22, 2004, in Villa Pines Center in Friendship, Wis. Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at the Thompsonville Seventh Day Adventist Church, with Brother Danny Shelton officiating. Parker-Reedy Funeral Home of West Franfort and Roseberry Funeral Home and Crematory of Friendship, Wis. are in in charge of arrangements.

Fornie B. Bagwell
ZEIGLER -- Fornie B. Bagwell, 89, died at 6:35 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 24, 2004, at Memorial Hospital of Carbondale. Fornie was born on Oct. 28, 1915, in Ragland, Ala. to Otis Lester 'Buster' and Babe (Campbell) Bagwell. He married Doris Estelle Jones on Nov. 14, 1937, in Zeigler. She preceded him in death Jan. 21, 2001. He is survived by a daughter, Leuna P. Bagwell of Zeigler; a son and daughter-in-law, Howard F. and Judy Bagwell of Duluth, Ga.; three grandchildren, Kevin Bagwell and his wife, Marvette of Port Orange, Fla., Mark Bagwell and his wife, Connie and Melanie Bagwell all of Duluth, Ga.; three great-grandchildren, Mandi, Kelley and Mark Bagwell, Jr. of Duluth, Ga.; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Joan and Dale Rhodes of Zeigler, Rosemary and Wade Moorman of Tolono and Ruth Jones of Jupiter, Fla. and a brother and sister-in-law, Ernest Ray and Bobbi Bagwell of Norfolk, Va. His parents; four brothers, Dean, Ralph, John and Jeffry Bagwell and three infant siblings also preceded him in death. Mr. Bagwell was a member and trustee of the First Baptist Church in Zeigler. He was a coal miner who last worked for the Old Ben No. 21 Mine in Sesser and retired in 1978. He was a member of the UMWA local. He was an
Army veteran of World War II and a member of the Zeigler American Legion, Patrick McClellan Post 177. He was well known for his woodworking skills. Services for Mr. Bagwell will be held at 11 a. m., Monday, Nov. 29, 2004 at First Baptist Church in Zeigler, with the Rev. Clinton Woodfin officiating. Burial will be in East Lawn Memorial Gardens in Energy with military grave side rites by the Zeigler American Legion. Visiting hours are from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Vantrease Funeral Home in Zeigler and after 10 a.m. Monday at the church until the hour of the services. Memorial contributions in memory of Mr. Bagwell may be made to the Zeigler First Baptist Church. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home and church or may be mailed to the church at 106 S. Rachelle Wisely Dunivan
MURPHYSBORO -- Rachelle Wisely Dunivan, 84, of Murphysboro, passed away at 8:10 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 21, 2004, in Mari de Villa Nursing Home in Town and Country, Mo. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 27, 2004, in United Methodist Church in Murphysboro, with the Rev. Earl Renshaw officiating and burial in Tower Grove Cemetery. Friends may call from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday at Pettett Funeral Home and from 10 to 11 a.m. at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the United Methodist Church in Murphysboro. Rachelle was born on Sept. 1, 1920, in Murphysboro, to Leo and Gertrude (Gola) Wisely. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Murphysboro. She was a graduate of Murphysboro High School and of the adult education classes at SIU. Mrs. Dunivan had been employed by various departments of government. She retired as financial secretary of the First Baptist Church in 1980 after 10 years of service, and in 1992 she retired as bookkeeper and caseworker from Somerset Township. She married Chester Dunivan on Jan. 6, 1940, in St. Louis, and he survives. Other survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Pamela and Edward Eversmann of St. Louis; two granddaughters, Kelly and husband Todd Vilardo of Charleston and Kristi and husband Mark Lindgren of Chesterfield, Mo.; five great-grandchildren, McKenzie and Nicholas Vilardo and Lauren, Alexa and Christian Lindgren; and one sister, Naomi Franklin of Belleville. She was preceded in death by two sisters and one brother.

CHESTER -- Gerald 'Jerry' Joseph Davitz, 61, of Lithia Springs, Ga., formerly of Chester, passed away at 3:10 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 21, 2004, at home in Lithia Springs. A funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 27, 2004, in St. Mary Catholic Church in Chester, with Father Gene Wojcik officiating. Interment will be in St. Mary Catholic Cemetery
in Chester, with military graveside services under the direction of VFW Post 3553 of Chester. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday and from 7:30 to 9:45 a.m. Saturday at Welge-Pechacek Funeral Home in Chester. Memorials may be made to the family choice. He was born to Percy J. and Verona C. (Marcinkowska) Davitz on Dec. 20, 1942, in Chester. He married Debria F. Cushman on Jan. 19, 1979, in Chester, and she survives. He was a retired senior chief petty officer in the U. S. Navy after 26 years of service. After he retired, he worked for Turf Care Products in Atlanta. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 2580 in Lithia Springs. Survivors include his wife, Debria F. Davitz of Lithia Springs; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Mark and Mary Pat Davitz of Freeburg and Andrew Davitz of Lithia Springs; three daughters and one son-in-law, Sheila and Randy Elser of Freeburg and Amanda and Victoria Davitz, both of Lithia Springs; three brothers, Jim Davitz of Freeburg, Ronnie Davitz of St. Louis, and Fred Davitz of Chester; one sister, Bonnie Todd of Chester; and five grandchildren, Aubrey, Adam, Amelia, Haley and Benjamin. He was preceded in death by his parents and by one sister, Marcella Stirnaman.

MARION -- Ludean (Evers) Whitelock, 70, of Paducah, formerly of Marion and Karnak, died at 5:30 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 23, 2004, at the Metropolis Rehab Center. Mrs. Whitelock was a retired tester counselor for the state of Illinois Civil Service Office in Marion. She was born on March 20, 1934, in Belknap. Mrs. Whitelock is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Kabra and Jim Langen of Mount Zion; two granddaughters, Kristina Langen of St. Louis and Lisa Langen of Oak Lawn. Mrs. Whitelock was preceded in death by her husband Cledus 'Billy' Whitelock, a daughter, Gayla Whitelock, her parents were John and Lizzie (Allen) Evers. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in Massac Memorial Gardens in Metropolis, with the Rev. Alvin Thomas officiating. HERRIN -- Dorothy Hall, 93, of Herrin, passed away at 5:58 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 24, 2004, in Herrin Hospital. Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday, Nov. 26, 2004, in East Lawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery
in Energy. Van Natta Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Mrs. Hall was born in Glendale to Grover and Elsie Mae (Mitchell) Storey on Dec. 15, 1910. She was married on July 19, 1929, in Herrin, to Olen Hall, and he died on Nov. 26, 1968. Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Olin and Kathy Hall of Wilmington and Jerry and Colleen Hall of Herrin; one daughter, Joyce Smith of Herrin; and three sisters, Maude Smith of O'Fallon, Emma Knudsen of Ellenton, Fla., and Edna Jacobson of Chicago. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, four sisters, two brothers, two daughters and two sons. She was a member of the First Pentecostal Church in Herrin and the Herrin Eagles. Memorials may be made to the family of Mrs. Dorothy Hall. They may be mailed to Jerry Hall at 427 South Park in Herrin.
