MURPHYSBORO -- Benjamin H. Ticer, 81, of Murphysboro, died at 11:29 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 11, 2004, in St. Joseph Memorial Hospital in Murphysboro. Ben was born in Murphysboro on Sept. 21, 1923, the son of the late Benjamin H. and Elsie (Smith) Ticer. He was a general farm laborer. Ben married Sharlet L. Beasley on Sept. 9, 1942, and she preceded him in death on Aug. 1, 2003. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 13, 2004, in Crawshaw Funeral Home in Murphysboro. Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday at Crawshaw Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Tower Grove Cemetery
in Murphysboro. Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Bena Sue and Kevin Dailey of Jacob; four sons and two daughters-in-law, Bruce Allan Ticer of Murphysboro, Charles Raymond and Tacy Ticer of Ste. Genevieve, Mo., John Edward and Georgia Ticer of Murphysboro, and Henry Andrew Ticer of Carbondale; one brother, William Robert Ticer of Carbondale; one sister, Vinnie Taylor of Sand Ridge; 20 grandchildren; and 27 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, one son, one sister, one stepbrother and one stepsister. Memorials are encouraged and may be made to the Rehab and Care Center of Jackson County Auxiliary and will be accepted at the funeral home.
Noral McCauley
COULTERVILLE -- Noral A. McCauley, 84, of Coulterville, died at 8 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 9, 2004, in Memorial Hospital in Belleville. Noral was born on Aug. 15, 1920, in Tilden, a son to Hugh Earl and Leona (Frieman) McCauley. He married Gladys A. Ernest on Dec. 31, 1943, in Perryville, Mo., and she preceded him in death on Aug. 7, 2000. He was the owner of Coulterville Equipment Company and a member of the Grandcote Reformed Presbyterian Church, the Lion's Club of Coulterville, Masonic Order Hope Lodge No. 162 of Sparta, the VFW of Coulterville, the Scottish Rite Bodies of Belleville, the Ainad Temple of East St. Louis and the Eastern Star No. 411 of Sparta. He was also actively involved in the Bethel Cemetery
Association of Swanwick, a former member of the Coulterville Fire Department and a member of the Randolph County Shrine Club. He was also a veteran of the U. S.
Army during World War II. He is survived by one brother and sister-in-law, Ordith and Polly McCauley of Edinberg, Texas; one sister, Betty Ervin of Sparta; and six nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; and one nephew, Michael McCauley. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 13, 2004, in the Pyatt-Harrawood Funeral Home in Coulterville, with the Rev. Jim Stark officiating. Interment will be in the Bethel Cemetery
in Swanwick. Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. today and from 8 to 10 a.m. Saturday at the Pyatt-Harrawood Funeral Home. Masonic services will be at 7 p.m. today. Memorials may be made to the Coulterville Fire Department, Grandcote Reformed Presbyterian Church or the donor's choice.
Dora Hancock
JONESBORO -- Dora Hancock, 90, of Jonesboro passed away Sunday, Nov. 7, 2004, in Union County Hospital. She was born on March 6, 1914, in Wolf Lake, the daughter of Roscoe and Katheryn (Fox) Smith. She married Gus George Hancock in Jonesboro in 1938. She was a homemaker and was a Pentecostal. Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, William T. and Alyce Hancock of Lewiston, Idaho, and Ronny L. and Dora J. Hancock of Ware; seven grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Clora Robertson of Anna and Dorothy Baltzell of Carbondale; and seven nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one sister and two brothers. Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 13, 2004, in the chapel of Hileman Funeral Home. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home. Interment will be in Jonesboro Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Jonesboro Cemetery.

Melvin Dean 'Yadro' Filkins
ZEIGLER -- Melvin Dean 'Yadro' Filkins, 59, died at 1:45 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 11, 2004, at home. He was born on Dec. 12, 1944, in West Frankfort, to Joe and Mary Maxine (Summers) Filkins. He married Doris Giles on Nov. 21, 1981, in Sesser. She survives. Other survivors include two sons and one daughter-in-law, Chris and Sandy Filkins of Royalton and Kevin of Royalton. He is also survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Tim and Melanie Meadows of Zeigler and Jennifer Filkins of Royalton; two grandchildren, Timothy Meadows and Kristan Filkins; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Joe and Bonnie Filkins, and Donald Filkins of West Frankfort; his mother, Mary Maxine Filkins of West Frankfort; his four little buddies, Casey Jo, Buster, Nugs and MoMo; many nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles. He was preceded in death by his father. Mr. Filkins was a retired coal miner, last working at Rend Lake Mine and member of Local Union No. 1545. He was a member of the Zeigler First Baptist Church and the Elks Lodge in West Frankfort. He was an
Army Veteran. He was an avid NASCAR fan and a big Cubs fan. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 13, 2004, at the First Baptist Church in Zeigler, with the Rev. Lewis Elmer 'Ike' Eisenhauer
PINCKNEYVILLE -- Lewis Elmer 'Ike' Eisenhauer, 81, of Pinckneyville, passed away at 7:48 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 4, 2004, in Pinckneyville Community Hospital. Ike was born in Du Quoin on Aug. 21, 1923, to Oscar and Ida (Endres) Eisenhauer. He was united in marriage to Catherine Virginia Seibert on Nov. 28, 1944, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Du Quoin. She preceded him in death on March 12, 1993. To this union were born three daughters. He worked for the Illinois Department of Transportation, owned and operated Bert's Cafe for several years, was a coal miner for Amax Coal Company until his retirement and was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U. S.
Army. Survivors include three daughters, Pam Morgenthaler and her husband Larry of Coulterville, Paula Koon and her husband Jerry of Red Bud, Patti Pontbriand and her husband John of Escondido, Calif.; eight grandchildren, Rhonda Bigham, Chris Conte, Roger Perkey Jr., Heather Carnes, Tina Manning, Sue Todaro, Geoffrey and Michael Pontbriand; 12 great-grandchildren, Brandon and Brienne Conte, Trenton and Dalton Bigham, Roger Perkey III, Brenden Wilson, Dylan and Tyler Carns, Tiffany and Taryn Pabst, Callie Sue Todaro and Tessa Noel Pontbriand; three step-great-grandchildren, Josh, Jamie and Brandon Rausch; a special friend, Nedra Lacy; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, three brothers, Clarence, Bernard and Leroy, an adopted son, Gary and a grandson, Shawn Pontbriand. Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 7, 2004, at St. Bruno Catholic Church, Pinckneyville, with Father Brian Barker officiating. Interment will be in St. Bruno Catholic Cemetery. Friends may call from 5 to 9 p.m. today, Dec. 6, 2004, and from 8 to 9 a.m. Tuesday at Pyatt-Harrawood Funeral Home, Pinckneyville. A rosary will recited at 9 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
