Wilma Hutchinson
HARRISBURG -- Wilma L. Hutchinson, 86, died at 8:13 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 11, 2003, in Harrisburg Medical Center. Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Sloan Funeral Home in Galatia, with the Rev. Floyd Dorris, Dr. James Baldwin and the Rev. Dale Martin officiating. Burial will be in North America Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mary Fergus
MARION -- Mary L. Fergus, 86, died at 1:45 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 12, 2003, in Heartland Regional Medical Center. Arrangements are incomplete at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home.

Elizabeth Purtle
MARION -- Elizabeth K. "Kay" Purtle, 60, of Canton died at 12:06 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 12, 2003, in Methodist Medical Center in Peoria. Services will be at at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in Henry-Lange Memorial Home in Lewiston, with burial in Baughman Cemetery at Smithfield. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the donor's choice. Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Beau and Gretchen Purtle of Marion.

EVANSVILLE -- Home M. Bagby, 81, of Carbondale died at 12:55 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 12, 2003, in Carbondale. Arrangements are incomplete at Meredith Funeral Home in Carbondale.

Christopher Davis
CARBONDALE -- Christopher Robert Davis, 32, died at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 18, 2003 surrounded by his family. Chris' 19-month struggle with non-Hodgkin's lymphoma ended when he was called home to the Lord. Chris was born on April 16, 1971, in Sterling. He and his family lived in Rock Falls until he was 13 years of age when they moved to Moline. He graduated from Moline High School in the class of 1989 and was a Rotary Exchange Student in Brazil from 1989 to 1990, where he met the love of his life, Cristiane. Chris and Cristiane were united in Marriage on July 31, 1992, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Moline. Chris graduated from Illinois State University; he attended law school at Southern Illinois University where he graduated with his juris doctorate. Chris and Cristiane lived in Carbondale until August of 2000, when they moved to the chicagoland area. On Sept. 7, 2001, they were blessed with their child, Maxwell Allan Davis. Chris was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin's lymphoma on Oct. 31, 2001. Chris was blessed with a strong will and believed in doing what was right. Although his illness took its toll, he maintained his easy spirit and contagious smile. He was guided in his spiritual life through his memberships at Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church of Rock Falls, Trinity Lutheran Church of Moline and St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Aurora. Chris was an avid sports fan. As a young boy he played in the Rock Falls Little League, a runner in the Sterling Track Club, and at Moline High School was a member of the cross country team. He loved to play golf, coach soccer at Carbondale High School and was a die-hard Dallas Cowboy fan. Another passion of Chris' was Brazil. As an exchange student he grew to love the country and its people. He, along with his wife, Cristiane, traveled back to Brazil often to visit friends and relatives. He leaves to cherish his precious memories, his wife, Cristiane; his son Maxwell; his mother, Judy (Martin) of Rockford; his brother; Jeffrey D., of Aurora; his nephew, Jeffrey D. "J. D. " Davis Jr., of Aurora; his grandmother Hildred Davis, of Rock Falls; several aunts, uncles, and cousins; along with his extended family from Brazil, mother-in-law, Maxima Oliveira; father-in-law, Genesio Jose Oliveira; sister-in laws, Genemarcia Pinheiro, Genilda Oliveira, Serligia Oliveria, Lysandra Feitosa; brother-in-law, Glecio Oliveira; and his many nieces and nephews. Chris was preceded in death by his father, Darrel, on March 25, 2002; his paternal grandfather, Carl D.; his maternal grandparents, Perle A. and Marie Martin; his uncle, Robert Bay; his aunt, Margaret Nester and one cousin, Evan Carl Swanson. Services will be Saturday, June 28, 2003, at Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church, 501 8th Ave. in Rock Falls, with the Rev. Henrietta Milner officiating. Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. with a luncheon downstairs in the church to follow. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in his memory.

Edna Ann Fulk
ANNA -- Edna Ann Fulk, 95, died at 3:36 p.m. Tuesday, June 24, 2003, in Jonesboro Health Care. Arrangements are incomplete at Crain Funeral Home in Anna.

Doris Genevieve Leonard
CHESTER -- Doris Genevieve Leonard, 90, died Monday, June 23, 2003, in Blu-Fountain Manor in Godfrey. She was born April 6, 1913, in Alma, Mich., to the late Asa Wilmot and Minnie Maude Lamay Langin. She married Ray Leonard in 1938, in Perryville, Mo. He died Feb. 3, 1995. Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Jerry and Etta Jane Leonard of Godfrey, and Ralph and Paulette Leonard of Ashley; 10 grandchildren, John and Patricia Leonard of Clinton, Mo., Joe and Susan Leonard of Alton, Jack and Andrea Leonard of Godfrey, Rebecca Johnson of Chester, Jennifer and Mike Calabrese of Centralia, Jaclyn Bruno of Ashley, Nathan Bruce of Ashley, John Leonard of Chester, Stacey and Scott Nelson of Colorado, and Steven Nelson of Mesa, Ariz.; one brother and sister-in-law, Dean and Geri Langin of Centralia; a daughter-in-law, Beverly Leonard of Mesa, Ariz.; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Roberta and Robert Mueller of Chester and Dwain and Margaret Leonard of Freeport; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two sons, Glenn and John Leonard; five brothers, Stanley and wife Leah Langin, Fay and wife Helen Langin, Charlie, Dudley and Adolph Langin; six sisters and spouses, Axle and Jim Sullivan, Rua and Otis Wilber, Helen and John Freeman, Rose and first husband Bill Gotham and second husband Claude Cooke, Vida and Frank Sarley, and Donna and Henry Washburn. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Chester. For many years she cared for the children of friends and family members in her home. Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in First United Methodist Church in Chester, with the Rev. Beth Tickner officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Chester. Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Thursday in the church. Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church, 871 State St., Chester, IL 62233. Gent Funeral Home in Alton is in charge of arrangements.

Damon Galloway
BENTON -- Damon Galloway, 68, of Benton, died at 6:40 p.m. Monday, June 23, 2003, at Memorial Hospital of Carbondale. Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 26, 2003, at the Masonic and Odd Fellows Cemetery in Benton, with the Rev. Bobby Carpenter officiating. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the Hobbs-Johnson Funeral Home, 301 S. Main, Benton. Mr. Galloway was born Sept. 6, 1934, in Benton, the son of Louis and Laura (Robey) Galloway. He married the former Iris Earlene Moore on June 9, 1956, and she survives. He was a Highway Maintenance Supervisor for 30 years with the Illinois Department of Transportation before retiring Sept. 30, 2001. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Darren and Stephanie Galloway of Benton; two grandsons, Curtis and Spencer Galloway of Benton; an aunt, Dorothy Robey of Benton; and several cousins, nieces and nephews. Mr. Galloway was predeceased by his parents, and two brothers, Carl and Arthur Galloway. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or to the American Diabetes. Association and will be accepted at the funeral home.

HERRIN -- Margaret Carnaghi, 85, died at 10:38 a.m. Tuesday, June 24, 2003, in Herrin Hospital. Arrangements are incomplete at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin.

Andrea Kay Boucher
PINCKNEYVILLE -- Andrea Kay (Colp) Boucher, 36, of Pinckneyville, died at 9:10 p.m. Saturday, June 21, 2003, at the intersection of old Illinois 14 and Illinois 14 east of Du Quoin. Andrea was born Nov. 18, 1966, in Du Quoin, to Troy and Nancy (Welch) Colp. She married David C. Boucher April 29, 1995, in St. Andrews Church in Murphysboro. He survives in Pinckneyville. Other survivors include her parents of Royalton; her mother-in-law and step-father-in-law, Carol Garvalia and J. C. Garavalia of Carbondale; and her father-in-law, Charles Boucher and special friend Donna Stice of Murphysboro; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Brock and Cindy Colp of Johnston City and Mark Colp of Royalton; a niece, Brandy Colp of Johnston City; two nephews, Tyler Boucher of McCleansboro, Joseph Colp of Royalton and step-nephew, T. J. Whitecotton of Johnston City; her maternal grandparents, Earl and Helen Welch of Royalton; Florence Boucher of Murphysboro, and Marie Gatewood of Louisville, Ky.; an aunt, Doris Harris of DuQuion; an uncle, AndrewWelch of Coconut Creek, Fla; a brother-in-law, Kevin Boucher of Murphysboro, and two pet cats, Harley and Leaf. Andrea was the Controller at Rend Lake College for the past 10 years and a graduate of Southern Illinois University in Carbondale. She had worked as an accountant at John A. Logan College. Andrea was an avid scrapbooker and member of several organizations. Services for Andrea will be held at 11 a. m., Friday, June 27, 2003, at Vantrease Funeral Home in Royalton, with Monsignor Ken Schaefer officiating. Burial will be at Miners cemetery east of Royalton. Visiting hours are after 6 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Memorial gift donations in memory of Andrea may be made to the Rend Lake College Foundation, 468 Ken Gray Parkway, Ina, IL 62846, Attention, Pat Mitchell.

Vivian Latham
CARTERVILLE -- Vivian "Louise" Latham, 54, died at 2 p.m. Monday, June 23, 2003, in St. Mary's Hospital in Port Arthur, Texas. Survivors include her husband, Herbert Latham of Texas; mother, Betty Juvers of Carterville; one son, Michael Murphy of Carterville; one daughter, Amanda Murphy of Marion; two brothers, Henry Juvers of Texas, and David Juvers of Carterville; two sisters, Marilyn Juvers of Colp, and Judy Robinson of Herrin; and seven lovely grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her father, Matthew Juvers, and a niece, Nicole Coleman, both of Carterville. Services will be at 11 a.m. today in Stringer Funeral Home in Buna, Texas. Burial will be Thursday.

Rivia R. Hurwitz
CARBONDALE -- Rivia R. Hurwitz, 90, formerly of Mansfield, Ohio, died Monday, June 23, 2003, at Heartland Regional Medical Center in Marion. Mrs. Hurwitz was born on April 28, 1913, in Minneapolis, Minn., the daughter of Myer and Celia (Glantz) Rosenberg. Rivia married Leonard B. Hurwitz in Minneapolis on Feb. 17, 1935. He died on June 1, 1981. Local survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Jo Ellen and Sidney Leavitt of Carbondale. Services will be Thursday, June 26, 2003, at the B'Nai Jacob Cemetery in Mansfield, Ohio. Memorials may be made to the donor's choice. Local arrangements were handled by Huffman-Harker Funeral Home.

Audra N. Brown
JOHNSTON CITY -- Audra N. Brown, 83, of Johnston City, died at 6 a.m. Sunday June 22, 2003, at Heartland Regional Medical Center in Marion. Services will be at 11 a.m. today at the Murman and Wilson Funeral Home in Johnston City, with the Rev. Larry Stevens officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery in Marion. Visitation was Tuesday. Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church or to donors choice, envelopes available at the funeral home. Audra was born on Jan. 26, 1920, in Johnston City, the daughter of John and Etta (Logan) Fletcher. She married Carl E. Brown on June 22, 1942, in McComb, Miss. He preceded her in death March 18, 1976. Audra was a beautician for 45 years and a member of the First Baptist Church in Johnston City. She was a graduate of Johnston City High School class of 1938. Audra was a member of the B & PW and a member of the Johnston City Woman's Club. She was an avid sports fan and was the sister of Jack, Vergil, and Cecil Fletcher, who are members of the I. H. S. A. Hall of Fame. She is survived by two brothers and sisters-in-law, Vergil and Violet Fletcher of Collinsville, and Jack and Pat Fletcher of Marion; four sisters and two brothers-in-law, Helen Baker of Marion, Rose and Delmer Mitchell of Johnston City, Marian and Ken Mauzy of Johnston City, and Ruby Kay Bozarth of Murphysboro; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and many close friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Cecil Fletcher; two brothers-in-law, John Baker and Ernest Bozarth; and one nephew, Tommy Baker. She was dearly loved by all who knew her.
