Margaret Ruby Robinson
HARRISBURG -- Margaret Ruby Robinson, 80, died at 2:30 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 23, 2002, at Harrisburg Medical Center. She was born Feb. 22, 1922, in Harrisburg, the daughter of Henry Dewar and Margaret Renwick. She married John Paul Robinson on Feb. 6, 1946, and he preceded her in death on Oct. 23, 1975. She was a retired technician at IYC. She was a member of the Land Street Missionary Baptist Church. Mrs. Robinson loved working at the food pantry and the Choissier Kitchen, helping the needy. Survivors include one daughter, Margaret Leona Bramlet and her husband Jim of Carbondale; one sister, Rosemary Greene of Rentin, Washington; and one granddaughter, Meg Randle and her husband Richard Paul. She was preceded in death by one brother, Henry Dewar, Jr.; and one sister, Dorothy Brown. The body has been cremated as per Mrs. Robinson's wishes and a memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Monday, Oct. 28, at the Gaskins Funeral Home, P. C. in Harrisburg. Burial will follow at the Sunset Lawn Cemetery
in Harrisburg. The family will greet friends at the funeral home from 11 a.m. until the funeral hour on Monday. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Land Street Missionary Baptist Church and may be left at the funeral home.

MOUNT VERNON -- Billie G. Watts, 60, died at 9:52 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 23, 2002, at Marion Memorial Hospital. Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Friday, Oct. 25, at Oakwood Cemetery

He married Nellie Seibert on June 26, 1993 in Makanda. Keith is survived by his wife Nellie Travelstead of Carterville; father and step-mother Gilbert and Elsie Travelstead of Creal Springs; two daughters and son in-law, Tracy Hartung of Murphysboro, April and Scott Wilmouth of Carbondale; son Dalton Travelstead of Carterville; two step-daughters and son in-laws, Tracy and Dan Burnett of Carterville and Stacy and David Reynolds of Marion; step-son Darren Priddy of Carterville; sister and brother in-law, Charlotte and Randy Jackson of Marion; seven grandchildren, Morgan and Blake Hartung of Murphysboro, Haylie Wilmouth of Carbondale, Daykota, Sierra and Travis Burnett all of Carterville, and Madison Reynolds of Marion. He was preceded in death by his mother, Dimple; one son, Keith Travelstead, Jr.; and one sister, Janice Travelstead. Keith worked as a truck driver until his health failed him. He enjoyed woodworking and was an avid outdoorsman, who loved to go fishing,
hunting, and camping with his family at Crab Orchard Lake. Memorial contributions can be made to Keith's family.
Warren F. Southard
MARION -- Warren F. Southard, 77, passed away at 12:50 a.m. Wednesday Oct. 23, 2002, at Marion Veterans Affairs Hospital in Marion. Graveside funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 26, at Sunset Hills Cemetery
in Edwardsville, with the Revs. Tim Uhls and Bob Southard officiating. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to West Frankfort First Christian Church and envelopes will be available at the funeral home. Warren was born January 14, 1925, in Edwardsville to Clarence Clinton and Evelyn Mary (Shafer) Southard. Warren proudly served his country from 1941 to 1946, during World War II with the Bushmasters and was a Lifetime member of VFW Post 5764 in West Frankfort. He also was a member of A. F. and a.m. Masonic Lodge No. 99 in Edwardsville, and First Christian Church in West Frankfort. Warren owned and operated Southard Oil Distributions. He married Dorothy L. (Feraris) Southard in Hillsboro on August 31, 1946. She survives in Marion. Other survivors include: son and daughter-in-law; Kent and Janice Southard of Marion; daughter and son-in-law; Pam and Ken Colerick of St. Charles, Mo.; four grandchildren, Kelly Watson, Heather Cox, Alan and David Southard; one great-granddaughter, Amanda Watson; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Clinton and Norma Southard of Sarasota, Fla. and Bob and Marilyn Southard of Conroe, Texas; sister and brother-in-law; Jane and Clarence Adelhardt of Maryville. His parents and sister, Norma Lynn Southard preceded him in death.

James H. 'Jimmy Joe' Sallee, Jr.
CARBONDALE -- James H. "Jimmy Joe" Sallee, Jr., 58, died at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 22, 2002, in Pulaski County. He was born July 1, 1944 in Mount Vernon, the son of James H. Sallee, Sr. and Ruth Mae (Scott) Sallee. He married Mildred (Peppers) Sallee on June 26, 2000, in Murphysboro, and she survives. Mr. Sallee was a heavy equipment operator with Local 318 out of Marion. He was a veteran of the U. S.
Army and served in Korea. he was a member of the Lakeland Baptist Church in Carbondale. He survived by his wife, Mildred "Millie" Porter Sallee of Carbondale; his father, James H. Sallee, Sr., of Scheller; one son, James Joseph Sallee of Texas; two stepsons, Michael Walker of Indianapolis, Ind. and Randall Walker of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; and three step-grandchildren, Tyler Walker of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Timothy Walker of Indianapolis, Ind. and Sarah Walker of Indianapolis, Ind. He was preceded in death by his mother. The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Friday, Oct. 25, at Hughey Funeral home, with burial to follow at East Salem Cemetery

Eugene D. Imhoff
CARBONDALE -- Eugene D. Imhoff, 86, passed away at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 22, 2002, at Union County Hospital in Anna. He was a resident at the Veterans Home at Anna. Eugene was born June 27, 1916, in Murphysboro to Leonard T. and Margaret (Reichrath) Imhoff. He married Helen Margaret Beard on February 9, 1952, at Murphysboro. Eugene and his brother-in-law, Ray Weiss were co-owners of Ray and Gene Auto Repair in Carbondale for forty years. He also worked at Century Sports in Carbondale. Mr. Imhoff honorably served his country during World War II in the
Army division from June 1941 until November 1945. He received the Bronze Star for his efforts at the battle of Salerno, Italy. Mr. Imhoff was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the Fraternal Order of the Eagles, and a past member of the Carbondale Moose Club. Survivors include his wife, Helen Imhoff of Carbondale; one daughter, Charlotte Jean Imhoff of Carbondale; three sisters, Margaret Lee Benton of Carbondale and Leona Crowell of DuQuoin and Gladys Bitner of Murphysboro; many nieces and nephews; and many friends of Carbondale and Murphysboro Eugene was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers; Homer and Virgil Imhoff; and one sister, Genevive Weiss. Funeral services will be held at 11 a. m., Friday, October 25, 2002, at Meredith Funeral Home in Carbondale, with Rev. Wes Henson officiating. Interment will be at Pleasant Grove Memorial Park in Murphysboro with military honors conducted by VFW Post #7190 and 2605, American Legion Post #127, and the DAV chapter #69. Helen Baumgarte Greenwood
MULKEYTOWN -- Helen Baumgarte Greenwood, 85, died on Wednesday, Oct. 23, 2002, at Herrin Hospital. She was born April 3, 1917 in Lovington, the daughter of James Ted Maxedon and Clara Buckley Maxedon. She married Charles Baumgarte and he preceded her in death, and she later married Phillip Greenwood who also preceded her in death. She was a homemaker. She was a member of the Mulkeytown Christian Church. Survivors include two sons, James Charles Baumgarte of Herrin and Donald Wayne Baumgarte of St. Peters, Mo.; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one sister, Virginia Grace Davis of Royalton; and one half-brother, William Thurman Maxedon of Murphysboro. The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Friday, Oct. 25, at Gilbert Funeral Home in Christopher. Interment will be in Mulkeytown Cemetery. The body will lie in state after 6 p.m. today, Thursday, Oct. 24, at the funeral home.

Harry Crain Jr.
CARTERVILLE -- Harry Crain Jr., 73, of 5677 Stotlar Road, died at 6 a.m. Monday, Oct. 21, 2002, in an auto accident. Mr. Crain was born April 23, 1929, in Herrin to Harry & Lillian (Davis) Crain, Sr. He married Victoria Bione on Nov. 15, 1950, in Herrin and she survives. Harry retired as a brick mason in 1985. He was a life member of the International Brick Mason Union No. 693. Mr. Crain was a US
Army veteran, having served during the Korean conflict. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Herrin, Herrin's Prairie Lodge No. 693, the Williamson County Shrine Club, and Herrin VFW and American Legion Post No. 1301. Survivors include his wife, Vicki Crain of Carterville; his mother, Lillian Crain of Herrin; two sons and daughters-in-law, Stephen and Barbara Crain of The Woodlands, Texas and Mark and Diane Crain of Sterling, Va.; three daughters and sons-in-law, Susan and Ted Sipe of Holton, Kan., Phyllis and Robert Law of Normal and Drs. Marilee Midden
CARBONDALE -- Marilee Midden, 70, died at 10:36 a.m. Monday, Oct. 21, 2002, at Christian Hospital Northeast in St. Louis. She was born Jan. 15, 1932, in Vandalia, the daughter of Robert Lee and Mary (Cleary) Gray. She married George W. Midden on July 28, 1951, in Wood River, and he preceded her in death on Oct. 10, 2000. Mrs. Midden was a secretary and drafter for Illinois Bell Telephone for 30 years, and she retired in 1987. She was a member of St. Bernard's Catholic Church in Wood River. She was a member of St. Ann's Altar Society, AT&T Pioneers, Ursuline Convent Auxiliary, and the Daughters of Isabella, and was a volunteer at Saint Anthony's Hospital. Survivors include three daughters and two sons-in-law, Mary Ann Midden of Champaign, Betsy and Thomas McGine of Orland Hills and Margaret and Larry Boehler of Mulberry Grove; two sons and daughters-in-law, Robert and Mary Midden of Bowling Green, Ohio and Chris and Karen Midden of Carbondale; and ten grandchildren. Besides her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by two sons, Patrick and John Midden. A funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 24, at St. Bernard's Catholic Church in Wood River, with Father Robert Porter as celebrant. Burial will follow at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto. SCHELLER -- August A. "Gus" Zmudzinski, 85, passed away at 5:40 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 22, 2002, at Pinckneyville Community Hospital. Gus was a retired farmer and oil field pumper. He was a member of the St. Charles Catholic Church in DuBois. He was a member of the board of directors at Twin County Service Company, Perry County Farm Bureau board, and Perry County Taxpayers Association. He was born Feb. 26, 1917, at Du Quoin, the son of Frank and Martha (Kujawski) Zmudzinski. He married Amanda Elizabeth Kabat on Sept. 16, 1940, at Scheller, and she preceded him in death on Jan. 14, 2001. He is survived by two sons, Gerald Zmudzinski and his wife Diane of Tamaroa and Gary Zmudzinski and his wife Susan of Scheller; one brother, Dominic D. Zmudzinski of DuBois; three sisters, Sophia Ratajczyk of Scheller, Tillie Czerwinski of Scheller and Salomae Hoffman of Ashley; one sister-in-law, Dorothy Kujawa of Ashley; nine grandchildren, Jill and Keith Kellerman, Gerald Zmudzinski Jr. and Dawn, Jeffrey Zmudzinski, Jessica and Mike Martin, Gary Zmudzinski Jr., Gregory Zmudzinski and Sarah Zmudzinski; three great-grandchildren, Jordan and Amanda Kellerman and Timothy Zmudzinski; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; one sister, Julia Kabat; and one daughter-in-law, Judith (Kozuszek) Zmudzinski.
