Adeline Barbara Dougherty 83, of Moline died February 28, 2004 at her home surrounded by her loving family. Funeral mass will be 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, March 3, 2004 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Moline. Visitation will be Tuesday 3-8 p.m. with a rosary at 4 p.m. at Esterdahl Mortuary, Ltd. 6601-38th Avenue, Moline. Burial will be at National Cemetery, Rock Island. Memorials may be made to Alleman High School. Adeline was born February 20, 1921 in Stevensville, MI. to Frank and Rose Blaha Stroba. She married Patrick A. Dougherty on September 16, 1944 in St. Joseph, MI. He preceded her in death in 1985. Adeline worked as a secretary for Rock Island County retiring in 1980. Adeline was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Moline. She was an avid golfer and enjoyed playing cards with her friends. LeRoy F. Kohls, 82, of Moline died February 28, 2004 at his residence. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 2, 2004 at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Moline. Visitation will be one hour prior at the church. Burial will be at National Cemetery, Rock Island. military honors will be conducted by American Legion Post #246. Memorials may be made to his family for a fund to be established. Esterdahl Mortuary, Ltd. is assisting the family. LeRoy was born October 18, 1921 in New Germany, MN to Herman and Caroline Kohls. He married Doris Lillenthol in January 1964 in Minnestoa. She preceded him in death in April of 1982. He later married Phyllis Jean (Peterson) Kommer on June 4, 1983 at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Moline. LeRoy attended the University of Minnesota for 2 years. He then served in the
Army Airforce during WWII stationed in Texas as a Gunnery Instructor. After serving in the
Army he worked as a dairy farmer in Minnesota. He then worked at JI Case, Bettendorf, working as a field engineer retiring on October 15, 1986. LeRoy was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Moline. He was the First Commander of the American Legion in New Germany, MN. He was a member of Moline American Legion Post # 246. He attended In Touch Day Care Center. He enjoyed bird watching, fishing in Minnesota, traveling and watching the Minnesota Vikings. Sandra was born May 14, 1939 in Moline to Raymond and Annabelle (Hagner) Reynolds. She married Richard E. Hannon in August of 1957 in Moline. He preceded her in death in 1987. She later married Lawrence Crowe on August 7, 1996 in Rock Island. Sandra was a registered nurse for 20 years working at the former Americana. She also worked at St. Anthony’s, Intouch and volunteered AA and Alanon. She retired in 1990. Sandra was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Moline. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was very passionate for animals and loved boating and fishing. Also many winters were spent traveling to Arizona to escape the winters of IL. SURVIVORS: Husband, Larry Rock Island Daughter: Ann (Joe) Lopez, Moline, Son, Raymond (Lisa) Hannon, Geneseo, Grandchildren: Valerie Lopez Linda Hannon Amy Hannon Michelle Duvall Kristen Hannon Theresa Lopez Joshua Hannon 13 great grandchildren, Mother: Annabelle Reynolds, Moline, Brother, Richard Reynolds, San Diego, CA She was preceded in death by her father and her first husband. She will be dearly missed by her Larry and her entire family.

Edward J. “Shorty”Fiebig, 97, of East Moline died Wednesday February 18, 2004 at Trinity West Medical Center, Rock Island. Graveside services will be 1:00 pm Monday February 22, 2004 at Greenview Memorial Gardens Mausoleum Chapel. Visitation will be from 2-5 on Sunday at Esterdahl Mortuary, Ltd., 6601-38th Ave., Moline. Burial will at Greenview Memorial Gardens. Edward was born November 21, 1906 in Moline to William and Eva Forber Fiebig. He married Naomi M. Bell on December 26, 1950 in McAllen, TX. Edward worked at the Q.C. Airport prior to its open date. He also worked at the Davenport Bank when it was under construction. He later shined shoes in downtown Moline. For 5 years he worked at the Rock Island Arsenal. He was later a painter and sandblaster for the Rock Island Railroad Co. Edward was a member of the Brotherhood of Maintenance of Ways Union. He enjoyed working in his yard and watching golf. He also enjoyed trains, model, and talking about the railroad. Julie A. Covert, 45, of Rock Island passed away after an extended illness on Wednesday, February 18, 2004 at Trinity Medical Center West campus, Rock Island. Services will be 3 p.m. Saturday, February 21, 2004 at Esterdahl Mortuary, Ltd. 6601-38th Ave., Moline. Visitation will be from 1-3 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family. Julie Covert was born May 4, 1958 in Moline to Robert L. and Dorothy J. DeVolder. She was married to Elmer Covert in 1977. Julie very much enjoyed spending time with family and friends, especially her grandson Alexander. She also enjoyed music, cross stitch, camping, fishing and animals. SURVIVORS: include: daughter, Hollie J. Covert; grandson, Alexander York; mother, Dorothy DeVolder; sister Pam and (Edward) Schneider; brothers, John and (Kelly) DeVolder, and Michael DeVolder, all of Moline. Julie also had four nieces, four nephews, seven great-nieces and nephews; and best friend Phyllis Ruiz. Julie was preceded in death by her father, Robert DeVolder and grandson, Matthew.

with military rites conducted by East Moline VFW Post # 8890. Memorials may be made to his family for a fund to be established. Donald was born May 24, 1950 in Moline to Howard and Anna Magruder. He was later adopted and raised by George and Margaret Howarth. He married Monica “Mo” Navarro on November 15, 1971 in Moline. Donald worked for 10 years at Eagles as a clerk. He was an usher at the Mark of the Quad Cities and was the caregiver for Edith Wallert. Donald was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Moline where he was a volunteer for the food pantry. He was a Navy veteran serving in Vietnam from 1968-1970. He was a member of the East Moline VFW 8890 where he was in the color guard. He was a befriender at Trinity West and volunteered for four years at Heartland Healthcare Center, Moline. He was involved in the Willard’s Dad’s Club and was a baseball coach for the Willard grade school. He was the former president of the Studebacker Club. Surviving are her son Lane Trefftzs and his wife Carolyn, grandchildren Pamela Trefftzs and Jeff Trefftzs, great grandchildren Aaron and Mathew Comer and Niven Trefftzs, and a sister Mildred Burrell.
