William `Bill' Olmstead of Naperville/Aurora
Memorial services for William `Bill' Olmstead, 44, will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday, at Friedrich-Jones Funeral Home, 44 S. Mill St., Naperville.
Born July 25, 1954, in Ellsworth, S. D., he died Friday, Jan. 15, 1999, at Swedish Covenant Hospital, Chicago. Interment will be private.
Previously of Tucson, Ariz., and Rapid City, S. D., Mr. Olmstead was a graduate of Central High School in Rapid City and attended the University of South Dakota.
He had lived in the Naperville/Aurora area for the past seven years and had been employed by Miller Laundry Companies for two years. He was also a member of the Fox Valley Aero Club.
He was the loving husband for 17 years of Mary Olmstead (nee Rasmusson); special father of twin sons, Jeffery and Jonathan of Aurora; dear son of Milo and Beulah Olmstead of Rapid City; and dear son-in-law of Vernon and MildredRasmusson of Rapid City.
A memorial visitation will be held from 2 p.m. until the time of services at 3 p.m. Wednesday, at the funeral home.

Frances Pfrenger of Libertyville
A funeral Mass for Frances Pfrenger, 93, will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, at St. Joseph Church, 121 E. Maple, Libertyville.
Born April 11, 1905, in Austria-Hungary, she died Sunday, Jan. 17, 1999, at ManorCare in Libertyville. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, River Grove.
Mrs. Pfrenger was the former owner of Frances's and William's Beauty Salons which were located on the northwest side of Chicago and a member of St. Joseph Parish in Libertyville.
She was the wife of the late William, who preceded her in deathin 1971; mother of Dorothy (Norman) Lind of Libertyville and Doris Pfrenger of Lake Zurich; grandmother of Michael (Mary) Lind of Mundelein, Anne Marie (Oliver) Valente of Orland Park and Christine Lind of Buffalo Grove; great-grandmother of Tess and Paige Valente; and sister of Frank Schnaufer of River Grove and Magdelen Lamping of CrystalLake.

Mildred Pillow of Batavia
Services for Mildred Pillow, 77, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, at YursPeterson Funeral Home, 209 S. Batavia Ave., Batavia. The Rev. David Foxgrover will officiate.
Born April 16, 1921, in Springfield, Ill., to Joseph and Annie (nee Coates) Fox, she passed away Monday, Jan. 18, 1999, at Elmwood Health Care Center, Aurora.
Interment will be in Mount Emblem Cemetery, Elmhurst.
Mrs. Pillow had retired from Pioneer Press after many years of dedicated service.
Survivors include her son, Kenneth (Sharon) Pillow; granddaughter, Pamilyn (Jim) Scarpace of Plainfield; great-granddaughter, Madilyn; sister, Alice (Bill) Maisel of Batavia; brother, Joseph (Peg) Fox of Lansing; and many nieces, nephews and dear friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Edward; and son, Paul.

Karen Platt of Buffalo Grove
Funeral services for Karen Platt (nee Saval), 51, will be held at 1 p.m. today, at Temple Chai, on Checker Road west of Arlington Heights Road, Long Grove.
Mrs. Platt died Friday, Jan. 15, 1999, at Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge, following a difficult battle with cancer. Interment will be in Shalom Memorial Park.
Mrs. Platt was a longtime member of Temple Chai and was involved with the sisterhood, choir, and board of directors. She was the past president of Na'Amat, a board member of the Midwest Federation of Temple Sisterhoods, and a life member and past president of Bnai Brith Women.
She was the dearly beloved wife of Paul; devoted mother of Jeffrey; dear daughter of the late Betty and Jack Saval and daughter-in-law of Shirley and the late Leon Platt; and fond sister of Alan Saval and sister-in-law of Jack (Karen), David and Jay Platt.

Werner Reimann of Rolling Meadows

Mr. Reimann came to the United States at the age of 14 and worked as a bricklayer. He eventually became a partner in Flex Construction, Inc., a company involved with the development of industrial construction, a position he held for 16 years.
Survivors include his wife, Robin Reimann; sons, Andrew (Kristen) Reimann, Kenneth Reimann and Christopher Lakeman; mother, Elisabeth Henrichsen; and brother, Frank Reiman.
He was preceded in death by his father, Willi Reimann.

Jennie L. Roff formerly of St. Charles

Mrs. Roff was a longtime resident of St. Charles and had moved to Sturgeon Bay 23 years ago. She was formerly employed by the DuKane Corporation. On June 19, 1964, she married John Roff in St. Charles.
Survivors include her husband, John, and two nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and brothers, Harold, Lloyd, Herbert and Thure.

Charles Ludwig Schulz III formerly of Hoffman Estates

He was the beloved husband of the late Helen C. Schulz; loving father of Charles L. Schulz IV, Charlene V. Chilo and Susan M. Bernasek; and cherished grandfather of Gary A. Chilo Jr., Katie Lynn Bernasek and Christopher G. Bernasek.

Virginia `Sherry' Sherman of Arlington Heights

She was a member of Christian Liberty Academy, where she worked as school secretary for many years and was the regular soloist for Sunday School services. She was also a singer for many of the Big Bands from the 1930's and 1940's.
Survivors include her husband of 39 years, Michael F., whom she married on Nov. 17, 1959; children, Gary Mullett of Denver, Colo., Michael (Kelly)Mullett of Minneapolis, Minn., John (Rebecca) Sherman of Elkhart, Ind. and James Sherman of Arlington Heights; four grandchildren; and sister, Jeanette `Mickey' Moyer of Park Ridge.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Kenneth; and sister, Ernestine.

Dr. Thomas B. Steffen of Schaumburg
A memorial Mass for Dr. Thomas B. Steffen, 65, also of Sedona, Ariz., will be held at 3:30 p.m. Sunday, at St. Matthew Catholic Church, 1001 E. Schaumburg Rd., Schaumburg.
Dr. Steffen passed away Saturday, Jan. 9, 1999, in Tucson, Ariz.
Dr. Steffen was a graduate of the University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine in 1966, and co-founder of Animal Hospital of Streamwood. He practiced veterinary medicine for 30 years.
Tom was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and son, and lived every day to the fullest. Because of his strong will and fearless courage, he never allowed his 13-year battle with cancer to overtake his faith and spirit.
He is survived by his loving wife, Mary G. (nee Sullivan). He was the dearest father of Deborah (John) Conway of Tucson, Denise of Tucson, Mark of Chicago and Megan of Schaumburg; grandfather of Jessica Claire and Sean Steffen Conway of Tucson; son of Frances of Wheeling; and brother-in-law of Sr. Ann Denise Sullivan, C. S. J. of St. Paul, Minn.

Russell Thinnes of Huntley

Born Feb. 23, 1920, in Detroit, Mich., to William and Edith (nee Hart) Thinnes, he died Monday, Jan. 18, 1999, at Sherman Hospital, Elgin. Interment will be private.
Mr. Thinnes married Lorraine Gaertner on July 21, 1939, in Valparaiso, Ind., and the couple resided in Chicago before moving to Huntley 18 years ago.
He had worked in the painting and decorating business for more than 50 years in the Chicago area. In addition, Mr. Thinnes was an
Army veteran of World War II and received the Purple Heart in February 1945 on the island of Luzon in the Philippines.
Surviving are his wife, Lorraine; daughter, Linda (Ted) Landers of Huntley; granddaughter, Lorraine (Anthony) Scotti; and brothers, Everett Thinnes of Chicago and Robert Thinnes of Wauconda.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Roy, Richard, Eugene, Ralph and Jimmy.
